Upgraded quicktime...no more songs in my library

I just upgraded my quicktime (the music I was downloading had some video content that would not run without it.) Now, I have absolutely NO songs in my library. This is realy F**ked up!
Can anyone shed some light on what is up with this? I was prompted to do the updgrade by iTunes!
I just bought three albums worth of tunes tonight and now I can't even listen to the records....

I learned that when this happens, you must once again, add to library and re-import the music.
GREAT THINKING GUYS!

    Hey Paul,
If I understand correctly, it sounds like iTunes is not grouping the songs from a particular CD together. The cause could be something as minor as a misspelling or slight variations. For more information, see the following resource:
Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together?

My ipad has more songs in my library than what is on my computer.  How do I transfer all of my music from my ipad to my computer

Only if the songs were bought from iTunes, you use transfer purchases.
If not, you need a 3rd party tools.

  • Upgrading ITunes and five songs eliminated my library

I upgraded ITunes, now the only songs showing are the five songs ITunes upgraded. I can find all my purchased songs in My Account, but how do I get them to show up (playlists too) in my Library???

in itunes hit apple-o and navigate to your itunes folder, usually in user/documents/music and choose the itunes folder to import everything again

  • Songs gone from library, how do i get back?

ok i wanted to add 22 new songs to the library so i could then add them to my ipod. i wanted to copy my current library and then delete it and add the 22 songs to it so i could easy add them to my ipod without searchin for them song by song, and then i wanted to paste my library back in again so i would have all my previous songs along with the new 22. so first off i hit edit>select all to select my library songs, then i rite cliked on them and hit copy. then i hit delete and when i did i got the option of 'cancel' -'save to itunes folder'-'send to recycle bin'. so i chose save to itunes foldre just incase anything happened. then i went in and added the new songs, but when i went to paste my library back in it wudnt let me. so now im looking everywher eto try and find the itunes folder which contain all my songs that were in the library so i can put them back in. i did find an itunes folder in my documents which contained a music file labeled 'date' where usually 'mpeg4' is labeled but it wudnt let me open it in itunes, and another word document file that when i opened, showed hundreds of lines of code and stuff like that. does anyone kno how i can get my library back?

Another way to do this is to choose the option to only update checked songs. Then, you go through your library and uncheck (on the left side of the iTunes window) the little boxes next to the songs you don't want. Now iTunes will only update the songs that have their boxes checked.
I do this and also create a Smart Playlist that shows only the checked songs in my library and is live updating. This way I can see how many songs are going to be transferred when I next sync. This can be very helpful if you have more songs in your library than can fit on your iPod. It works pretty well and should solve your problem, I think.

I upgraded to iTunes 11.0. My iPod Nano 4th Version will sync, but music and playlists will not appear to manage and add more songs. Is there a fix?

If I go from 'Devices' to Summary and then Music, I only get one option-Sync Music,There is a box on this page but the options within it are grayed out. If I tick the Sync Music option I get this message-
'Are you sure you want to remove existing music, films, ect, from this ipod and sync with this itunes library?
'Music synced to (my ipods name) from other itunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this itunes library' I have only ever used itunes on this PC and the 'Manually manage music and videos' is ticked but
that must be a default setting as I haven't ticked it.

  • Is there a way to see on my iPhone my entire library (more than 2.000 CDs) without having all the files stored? I've noticed that, for mistake, I had some songs of my library in grey (the mp3 was not working)

  • I have a new computer, and I downloaded a new iTunes for my iPod, but it only transferred my Purchased Songs to my Library, not the other mp3s. Now when I go to add more mp3s and sync, it will add it to my Library, but not my iPod itself... What happened?

I want to add more songs, but I cannot figure out how to sync my iPod to actually transfer my mp3s. I had done it before, which is how I have most of my songs, but I don't know what I can do without totally erasing everyhing and starting over... Which I don't want to do, because I have a new computer and no old files. I'll have to do that if worst comes to worst, I guess. Hoping there's some other way around it.

You can only synce an iPod to one iTunes Library/one computer.  However, you can manage music among different computer . see:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
If you want to transfer non-iTunes purchased music from an iPod to a computer other than the one you synced the music from you need to use a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • I have a ipod mini, i upgraded my battery, and drive to 32 GB, my itunes will not see it, and the mini only shows file pic error. I have a 10.4.11 powerbook 667 so i can't upgrade to a newer itunes, which is 4.7.1, all i want is a better battery-more song

    Hi,
I have a older ipod mini which needed a battery, so i also upgraded the drive to a 32 GB flash drive. When i did the upgrade, it saw the itunes fine, but it never loaded anything. When i unplug it it shows the folder with "!" icon, and i can't get my itunes to see it. I have a powerbook 667 mhz g4 with itunes 10.4.11, so i can't upgrade to leopard. All i wanted was a better battery and a bit more song volume. This older 4 GB will fit back in and works fine, but i'm upset i spent $37 to only fail. What am i doing wrong? itunes is 4.7.1 How can i over come this?

In Disk Utility, select the iPod (the device) in the sidebar.  So, if you see the iPod in the sidbar with a "volume" indented below the iPod, select the "device" (not the volume).
Go to the Erase tab to the right.  The choice for Format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  Name does not matter, because iTunes will rename it during the Restore.  Click Erase.
    it "flashed" out of itunes.
That may be an issue with the USB connection.  As a test, shut down (power off) the Mac.  Disconnect other USB devices including USB hub, except for standard USB keyboard and mouse (if normally used).  SInce this is a laptop, connect it to its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.
Connect the iPod to a direct USB port on the Mac.  Note if there is any difference regarding the iPod not maintaining a connection.

  • How to upgrade more than 1 Aperture Library?

I have more than 1 Aperture Library and i want to upgrade them to the Aperture 3.2.2 i can't open it in Aperture please help me, i have an Imac early 2009 running with the Lion OSX version 10.7.4 and the aperture is the Aperture 3.2.2

Thank you very much, i'm new on this so sorry for the other post, let me explain:
First i opne my Aperture and then i try to import>Library and i choose other library that i have in my External HD i this is the message that appears:
The library could not be imported because it is from an out of date version of Aperture 3. Please upgrade the library to the latest version of Aperture 3 and try again.
so then i try to switch library and this is the message:
The selected library is from an older version of Aperture and requires a relaunch to switch.
i clicked on the RELAUNCH button and this is the message:
To use this library, make sure its file permissions are set correctly.
Then i close Aperture to try open it while holding the option+command buttons to do the repair permission and this is the message: You need to upgrade the library... etcetera, so i click Upgrade y this is the final message:
Check that you have permission to write to the library directory.
One thins that is really confuse is that the other libraries are from Aperture 3.2.2

  • My itunes library has more songs than my ipod will hold.

My itunes library has more songs than my ipod will hold. What is the best way for me to choose what actually goes on the ipod?

Or, when you are synching choose the songs you want on the IPod by checking them in the library, then tell it to only synch checked items.
To be honest, the 'smart playlist' is probably a simpler way though. Go to playlists, click 'create new smart playlist' and choose your parameters from there. As you add new music to the library the playlist will update itself.

  • My Library has ten more songs than my iPod. How can I find out which songs are not syncing?

My Library has ten more songs than my iPod. How can I find out which songs are not syncing?
I recently had to purchase a new hard drive. Because the size of my music collection exceeds 140 GB, I stored all of my music on a separate external hard drive. When I exported everything back into my new iTunes library, I found that I had about 200 more songs than I had in the previous library. After deleting most of those extraneous songs, I was able to get my library close to where it was before. However, after syncing to my iPod Classic, I noticed that only 34,853 of the 34,863 loaded. How can I figure out which of those ten songs in my library did not sync to my iPod?
    Yellow12

It may be that the 10 songs are unchecked. To find them select songs view.
If there is a column Heading marked with a tick then click on it to sort by this column.
If the Column is not there then View > View Options and select the Checked column which will then display
Check the songs by putting ticks in the empty boxes and resynch. Now those tracks should go over as well

  • HT201210 My Music library is showing more songs than I actually have? How do I fix this?

My actual music library on my phone is showing 100+ more songs than I actually have. But on my computer it's showing a completely different (less) number? Should I restore?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • ITunes Match indicates more songs than Library

Updating iTunes Match says "2821 songs are now available in iCloud", however, my library says 2820.  This occurs w/ 3 separate computers (Win7 desktop and laptop, and a MacBook Air running OS X Lion) all synced to the same iTunes Match account.  I know it's only a variance of 1 track, but has anyone else run into something similar?  Any way to manage just the music in iCloud?

iTunes Match if only matched with a single library can only contain upto the number of Songs in that single library - clearly if it has access to more than one library it is soon going to contain more Songs than any individual library.
