Upgraded Software update - now cable doesn't work!

I went to use the software update today when I was connected to me PC. It told me there was an update to the software and to remove my phone and USB connection while it downloaded and installed. I did this and went through the update which apprently worked fine but needed to also install a cable driver update, did this as advised then tried to reconnect my phone but the PC just doesn't see it anymore.
Thanks Nokia.
My PC is running Windows XP. Software update is now 1.3.60en
Phone is N73
April 07 - just got an E65 - not too bad so far.

Just my luck!! Fortunatey its not too big a problem as I have damaged my phone prior to this and am awaiting a replacement from the insurance people. I was updating to see what the update offered and if it sorted some of the issues I have with it as it stands. As for "dont fix it if it aint broke" I have never had this phone working in the way that it should. the N73 has been a big dissopointment and now I hear that it has been discontinued, no surprises there!
It disgusts me that companies like Nokia release software before it has been fully tested just because its cheaper to let the paying public do the tests and give them a greater spectrum of results. Souns to me like they're basing their business strategy on Microsoft.

  • Re-install Tiger, Software Update, now Airport doesn't work

So, I just replaced the hard drive on my Dual USB iBook G3. I completed the installation, and everything was working great. Airport was showing my home network (unsecured, iknow) and I was able to connect to Software Update via the Airport.
First major download was the 10.4.8 combined update for PPC - after downloading it and restarting I lost Airport connectivity. Can't find my newtork, can't manually input IP address, etc.
Next, plugged into Ethernet and downloaded Airport (4.2 ?) and still nothing.
What's the deal? Airport was working before the updates, and now nothing. Other laptops at home are working wirelessly just fine, so it's not my ISP, connection, or router.
    Help!

Hi sockdaddy, welcome to Apple Discussions!
Click here to be taken to the Airport Troubleshooting kBase document.
It could be that you need a firmware update following the 10.4.8 update. Follow the steps in the above link, and post back with your results.
Another thing to try is the Mac OS Software update. Click on the Apple logo at the top left of screen while connected to the 'net, choose 'Software Update' and let the computer do the rest.
If all else fails, remove and re-seat the Airport card by following these instructions.

  • I clicked "yes" to upgrade iTunes and now it doesn't work. I get an error message stating my computer is missing MSVCR80 and then a message stating Error 7 (Windows Error 126). I've tried reloading iTunes twice. What can I do?

I clicked "yes" to upgrade iTunes and now it doesn't work. I get an error message stating my computer is missing MSVCR80 and then a message stating Error 7 (Windows Error 126). I've tried reloading iTunes twice. What can I do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Upgraded to Leopard, now LEAP doesn't work

I upgraded to Leopard over the weekend and came into work this morning only to find that LEAP authentication doesn't work anymore. It tries to connect then says "See administrator" which I would do except... I am the **** administrator.
Luckily Tiger machines are still working around the office. Anyone have any idea why LEAP is now even worse than it was in Tiger?
Oh and I did try the deleting that kext trick and it is still no good. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Just a quicky update to everyone. I'm posting this from another Mac running Leopard right now with a clean install that has to be hard wired since the LEAP authentication does not work. So I don't think there is a difference between an upgrade install and a clean install - it just flat out does not work.
If there is someone out there from Apple that would like to work and test things with me then let me know. I have ready access to our enterprise network and I can try things out with in house machines or my own. Seems like something like this should have been tested before releasing it to the public.
Here is some information about this SSID:
    Authentication supported is LEAP
Encryption supported is WPA Enterprise and WPA2 Enterprise
    Exact problem:
    Network Name: MyNetworkSSID
    Security: WPA2 Enterprise
    User Name: MyUserName
    Password: MyPassword
    802.1X: Automatic
This will just flat out fail.
Then if you go under advanced, click on 802.1X, then change the domain to User. Then add a new configuration called WPA: SSID (where SSID is your own SSID) then enter your username, password, wireless network (use the SSID), and check off LEAP authentication and uncheck everything else.
Then go back to picking a network, enter the SSID, pick the new configuration you just created instead of the Automatic setting and it will authenticate via LEAP BUT it will get a self-assigned IP address.
So from there I'm lost. I can get it to KINDA work but not really. On my ACS server I can see my ID is successfully authenticating and then there is no real traffic after that - like the Mac just stops talking after that.
I'm open to suggestions though and I'll try whatever people throw at me. It would be REALLY nice to get this working before the end of December at the very least because I have projects that sort of depend on it.

  • I recently upgraded my apple TV software and now it doesn't work, does anybody know how to fix this problem?

Apple TV no longer works after I upgraded the latest patch.  It shows a picture of the USB plugging into iTunes but doesn't do anything.  Can anybody tell me how to either reset Apple TV or explain how to get it working again?
    Thanks!

You need a microUSB cable to connect to computer running iTunes (no other leads).  See:

  • Upgraded DSL Modem, Now Bonjour Doesn't Work

I upgraded my Qwest DSL Modem from an ActionTec GT-701 to an ActionTec PK5000 and now my Quicksilver G4 is not available via Bonjour (I'm using it as a print server). I switched back to the old router, and it works again, so the problem def. is the new router. I tried to see if the known ports are blocked (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1629), but they don't appear to be - I turned off UPnP (Universal Plug N Play) just to be sure it didn't conflict but no joy. Somebody else out there seems to have had similar problems (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-printing-and-scanning/Beware-of-the-ActionTec-P K5000-for-wireless-printing-with-HP/td-p/267515) but I'm not sure if it's a direct match.
I upgraded to make my VOIP smoother, due to the integrated Ethernet switch in the modem. But I'm moving back to the old modem for now, and using an external switch.
Anybody have any feedback on how to configure the new DSL modem correctly so Bonjour will work? I did notice an error in the system log:
"mDNSResponder: NOTE: Wide-Area Service Discovery disabled to avoid crashing defective DNS relay 192.168.0.1."
Could that be the trouble? I did try to fix the DNS settings on the modem. Again, no success.

    Thanks for that.
Probably has an Application Layer Gateway (ALG) for SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) which is something iChat uses, that can not be changed from pushing SIP data to port 5060.
SIP is also used by SIP/VoIP phones which gets around Long Distance charges so many ISPs block it until you pay for the "Extra Service" which a few years ago was open anyway.
There was an International agreement that all SIP apps and equipment would use port 5060-5063. It was supposed to be accessible on a pass-through basis from one Internet Server to another but ISPs seem to have classed end users as a non through connections.
Thomson-Alcatel have had a SIP Binding as they call it since there models could run Version 3 firmware. (You had to telnet into the device to turn it off)
At version 5 firmware they changed it so that it could only be partially turned Off.
Thomson-Alcatel make devices branded for other people including the HOME HUB from BT (Formerly British Telecom) who own 99% of Landline connections in the UK (they Wholesale out both Land lines and Broadband DSL connections).
Various ISPs that supply modems often have them supplied with Branded Firmware on there. It tends to be these Branded versions that cause problems (Although the Thomson-Alcatel issue is below the Web Browser interface level).
This may give clues as to where to look and how your device maybe accessed (telnet).

  • 2nd gen 8G iPod Touch, upgraded to iOS4, now wifi doesn't work

I have a 2nd gen iPod Touch and I upgraded to iOs4 a few hours ago, and now my wifi won't connect no matter what I do. I've restored the whole iPod twice. I've renewed the lease on the wifi connection for our home network. I've done just about everything that I have found on the internet to try and help and nothing works.
I select our home network and type in the password and it "connects". But if I try to do anything online, it immediately says that it's not connected. It works otherwise, but I mainly use it for apps, and most of those apps need an internet connection. It's starting to seem like a very pretty paperweight.
I've seen that others have had similar problems, but has anyone found a fix for this yet? I can't afford to just go out and buy a new iPod, especially since the new operating system is what made it break

And I've done all of the steps on this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

  • Using thunderbird with ATT. Worked Sunday, Thunderbird did an update, now it doesn't work?

I've been using Thunderbird about a year. Sunday evening (4/5/15), Thunderbird told me it had an update. I said "ok". After that, it wouldn't access AT&T for my emails. My server settings are correct. When I bring up Thunderbird, I see this:
    Unable to connect
The connection was refused when attempting to contact inbound.att.net.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Thunderbird is permitted to access the Web.
All of those things are fine. The only thing that changed is Thunderbird. Please help.

Did you check your firewall to see if Thunderbird is set to Allowed. It is not uncommon for firewalls to block updates as if they are new software.

  • Upgraded to iOS6 and now charging cable doesn't work

I just upgraded to iOS6 n my iPhone 4, and now my charging cable doesn't work.  No...it's not an "official" Apple charger, but even the usb cable doesn't work when I plug it into my computer.  If I plug my iPad charger into it, it works fine.  How can the new operating system determine what kind of usb charging cable it "wants" to accept?  This charger and cable worked flawlessly before the OS upgrade.

Same problem here. I use a wall charger and have had success by unplugging the charger from the wall, plugging the adapter into the iPhone, then plugging charger back into wall. Had the same problem with a car charger and got the phone to charge using the same procedure. I'd love to know if this works for you. Good luck!

  • I did software update, now java in Safari doesn't work.

I ran software update, now Java in Safari and Firefox doesn't work. How do I fix it?

    I already tried that.
    I am running OS 10.6.8.
I did a "normal" software update (under the Apple icon).. didn't update the OS to a higher level, it's still 10.6.8. But now certain websites tell me that Java is missing or not working. When I go to the Java site, they say that you can only download the newest Java for OS 7 or higher... that Java is automatically part of OS 6 and should have automatically updated when I do a Mac software update.
Java used to work. Now that I've "updated" my Mac software, it doesn't work. And there's no way to download and install Java (according to them).
It's a never ending circle with no solution.
