Upgraded to 10.5.7 and now cannot turn on airport

Running 10.5.7 on iMac Power PCG4 and have airport extreme, the space ship looking one. After I upgraded, I go to the menu bar under the airport icon to click Turn Airport On and nothing happens. AirPort Card Information show:
Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x4E)
Wireless Card Locale: USA
Wireless Card Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (4.170.25.8)
Current Wireless Network: wireless network not available
I've gone through network settings and nothing works.
I've spent the last few hours working on this and can't get it work. I can connect via ethernet but not airport.
Is the old airport extreme too old for Leopard?

You do realize that this merely turns on the wireless card in your iMac. This does not do anything to the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).
To make changes to the AEBS you must use "AirPort Admin Utility" or "AirPort Utility".
Neither the wireless card in the iMac nor the AEBS is too old for Leopard.

I am using a Brother MFC 8460N and on Brother's site it says its compatible with win 8.1 and that the driver is already installed. When I try to scan I am told there is no preset (there was with win 7 though) and I have to "custom scan." When I try that, I hear a sound as if the printer is trying to scan, but the feeder can't pull the paper through. I then get a blank .pdf as my scan. Thanks for your advice. I will try that.

You've done great so far to upgrade to Leopard & install more RAM. Now install the 10.5.8 combo update at http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
After you install the 10.5.8 update, click on the Apple in the menu & select Software Update. You will then be informed of some application updates. iTunes may be one of them. Then click to install the app updates.

Thanks so much but none of that helped. It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive. I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!

Thanks, I think problem is solved by re-adding user name and passwork to each of the SMTP servers listed. I didn't realize they had been deleted with the update. The error was "server does not allow relaying."

I'm having the same problem! I updated iTunes and now the program opens but doesn't respond to certain commands. HATE HATE HATE...
I'm reinstalling now thinking that may help...fingers crossed.

I accepted iOS 8.3 upgrade last night on our iPad and now cannot turn it on - get as far as a black screen with the picture of the charger and itunes logo - help please!

I accepted the latest 8.3 iOS upgrade last night which resulted in my not being able to turn on the iPad.
Following the troubleshooting guidelines I can get as far as the black screen by forcing a restart (holding both buttons) all I can see is the diagrammatic picture of the charger and the iTunes red logo. I cannot move on from here and the instructions indicated that a message should show offering the iOS upgrade - but this is not happening for me!
If anyone can help it would be hugely appreciated - many thanks.

It sounds like your iPad is in recovery mode after an error in the update process that may have occurred. The solution to this would be to plug it into a computer running the latest version of iTunes and press the restore button. This will ease the iPad and reinstall iOS. Hopefully you setup an iCloud or iTunes backup for the device.

Upgraded to 1.1.4 and now cannot hear anything!

I made the upgrade successfully last night and when someone called me today I could not hear from the ear piece. If I put it on speakerphone it would work however. Any thoughts on how to fix this????

I had a similar problem this morning after upgrading to 1.1.4....
The iPod portion of my iPhone acted like it was playing, but no sound was produced from the internal speakers or when hooking up external speakers.
I did the restore and it's working again...however, I have noticed when clicking around it's slower to respond, only a fraction of a second, but not as quick a response like it was prior to the upgrade. (clicking around: iPod screens, SMS, iCal, etc... not referring to the web portion of Safari and a slow internet connection)

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox 13 are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.

Computer just turned itself off and now cannot turn on

Hi. I have a HP Touch smart 310 PC. The last week it has been sounding like it was about to take off, I thought at first that it might of been struggling with to much internal memory. So I went in and deleted a lot of files and photos, this didn't seem to do anything as I was on it it just turned itself off. I turned it off at the power overnight and tried to restart it in the morning but I had no luck. The power button on the side usually light up but unfortunately does not. I have pulled out all cords turned off power. What I have noticed is the power adapter around the back is coming up green. Has anyone on had the same thing happen and if so what did you do. It appears that you upgraded your computer to Mountain Lion and were using Microsoft Office 2004. In the short term, if you need to open and modify Word files, go to the file in the Finder and Control-Click on it. A menu will come up: go to Open With... and select TextEdit. This should allow you to open, modify and save the file for the short term.
You can do the same trick to open Microsoft Excel files in Preview and print them; but I do not think you can modify them in this way.
Workarounds for Microsoft Office 2004 since upgrading to Mountain Lion:
1. Upgrade to Microsoft Office 2011. This version works in Mountain Lion. However some of your legacy 2004 files may convert badly.
2. Restore the version of OS X that you were using before Mountain Lion.
3. Partition your hard drive and/or attach an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard on it and use the 'dual-boot' method of booting into Mountain Lion when you need it and booting into Snow Leopard when you need to run your PowerPC applications such as Microsoft Office 2004.
4. The method I use, which allows me to run my PowerPC applications concurrently with Lion: I installed Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7 in Lion:

Ack! We don't need that much.
What you posted looks like the iTunes Library.xml file I will let you read about how iTunes works but not only is the .xml not your main library it is just the listing of tracks in your library and where the music files should be located. Your music is actually in media files (by the way, it is pointless to zip those as they are already compressed). Anyway, read these and you will see that your true library file (iTunes Library.itl) is only a small, but still important, part of a complete library.

As you can see, a library has several components, so "getting it back" depends upon what is missing, what it was you actually backed up in the end, if any of this music was purchased from the iTunes Store, etc.

Log in to the Developer forum. You will find instructions on how to install the lastest beta. Your problem is the beta you have installed has expired. All of them did on October 5; you will find hundreds of threads discussing this. If you have a beta it is assumed that you will continue as a beta tester, so a simple update using iTunes will not work.
If you no longer want to be a beta tester install the GM 7.0.2 by restoring from iTunes using DFU mode.
