Upgraded to 5S and my bt email address won't send emails, how do I resolve this?
Thanks that was the first thing I did. It will receive emails but it won't send them.

Some email addresses won't send - sometimes.
I just upgraded to Lion. Here's my unusual issue: Some of the emails I try to send using Apple Mail get rejected by my ISP's outgoing mail server ( I am required to use the ISP's outgoing server to send mail using password authentication). I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason as to when and why this happens. It is an "on again, off again" issue and occurs at different times to different email addresses I am trying to send to. Sometimes an email address is allowed to be sent to by my ISP. Sometimes it is not. When the message is disallowed, I get ths following error message:
"Sending the message content to the server failed. Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."
I cannot send mail using any other outgoing server other than the one the ISP requires. About 95% of my messages make it through there.
Initially, I assumed the issue must be my ISP but I've tested the ISP's outgoing mail server using web mail and there is no issue there. I can also send web mail from my web hosting account. I am pretty sure Apple Mail is doing something to offend the outgoing mail server. Anyone have any ideas? This is very odd.The symptoms you describe sound like an unstable Internet connection to me. Webmail and SMTP are two different things, so when web mail does work, that does not mean that you can connect to the mail servers through SMTP. Could be the Internet connection or a firewall. You should try to send the same mail, with the same outgoing mail server at different times, when that works once and does not work another time, it is very likely that this is a problem that only your ISP can fix, since no settings have changed...

I would like to change my apple id to one of my alternate email addresses so therefore i would have to delete the alternate email address as an alternate email address and it says that if i do that it will permanently be deleted from my account so could i use that email address as my primary one?

Hi, both my husband and I have iphones synced to my apple id. It seems that we can't facetime due to this as it's like my email address is calling my email address! Is there anyway to fix this or will we need to create a new id for my husband's phone?
settings - facetime - remove the apple id, on your husband phone.
He should create his own id for imessage and facetime. -
forgot answers for security questions, my apple account has updated email address but the rescue email address for account is old and not accessible - do not know how to update that address so i can authorize new devices...
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Start here (change country if necessary) and navigate to 'Password and Security', reset your security questions using the link provided, you will receive an email to your rescue address, use the link in the email and reset your security questions.
If that doesn't help, you don't receive a reset email or you don't have a rescue address, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.
If you are in a region that doesn't have international telephone support try contacting Apple throughiTunes Store Support. -
Hi. I tried switching my Apple ID email address to my new email address and I don't know how to switch it for iCloud and iTunes. Please help!! It seems like Apple thinks I have two separate accounts, when I just tried to simply change it!
Settings > Store > Sign Out.

I want to change the email address used as rescue email for my security questions. But I can't remember the answers to the security questions and I dont have access to the rescue email anymore. Please help.
-If you established a rescue email address, there will be a link on the "Passwords & Security" page of id.apple.com. Clicking the link will send the reset to your rescue email address (NOTE: This is not the same address as your Apple ID email)

You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

I have tried that, but the system reads the emails as one long email and I can't find any way of separating them - it ignores spaces, colons and I have also tried putting them through a word doc... still does not work. It works perfectly easily on a PC system!! ( I have just moved to a mac!)

You have to abandon the old accout and you will lose all the content you had with that account. But what I did was upload all my itunes to amazon cloud, these were the only purchases I had. I already bought books from kindle and I now rent movies from amazon instant video. Everytime I log in I use my icloud email and password. I just used it to sign in to support communities.
The notification that you posted about changing your Apple ID was present when I created my icloud email and made the change. -
Mail from one email address won't download
Emails from one particular email address won't download into Mail for my [email protected] account. Email from everyone else comes in fine. I can see his mail in webmail and on my iPhone, but not in Mail. It comes through to my yahoo address but not my main address. Here are the headers from one of his emails, hopefully someone will have an idea how to fix this.

I sent two different photos. The same photo has been placed in both boxes.
RayIt's not the images that aren't downloading, it's the entire email. His email just doesn't show up in Mail, like it was never sent at all.
I access [email protected] through Mail app.
Not sure about winmail.dat... and not sure what program he uses to send mail.
Some of his mail gets through, some doesn't. Doesn't seem to be any reason. It's not always emails with attachments that don't get through. Sometimes it's just a plain text email that doesn't get through.

A "To" email address disappears completely from email once it has been sent? In "sent" folder ok.
