Upgraded to 7.05.02 difficulties

Last night I upgraded iTUNES to 7.05.02 as directed by iTUNES to download a music video. All went well, video downloaded, but when I tried to sync to the iPOD, I was told to upgrade iPOD (1.2.3) as well. I did this, but then when I tried to sync iTunes to the iPOD many of my existing library tunes did not transfer (theu were there before the upgrade inn siftware). I got the following message for 61 of the songs: "Cryin" was not coppied to the iPOD (JAmes Jones's iPOD) because you are not authorized to play it on this computer. Many of these were iTUNES purchased. I haven't changed computers or iPODS. This is what I started with several years ago. How do I get authorization for these songs for my iPOD.

    Hi Michael,
it seems that, for an unknown reason (maybe shortcut incorrectly created during setup?), the Installer.exe process is running with its current directory set to your profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\mfoss), and it's trying to locate its package directory there.
Try running the Installer.exe directly from its install location (C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One E-Commerce and Web CRM\Installer\ by default) and it should work. Alternatively, check the 'Start in' field in the properties of the shortcut you are using to start the installer. It should be the directory in which Installer.exe resides.

  • Touchsmart IQ504 and windows 8 upgrade

I tried upgrading my IQ504 from Windows 7 to Windows 8 when it was first released and had no luck. Has anyone had any luck upgrading their 504 yet and if so anything specific I should know? Thanks!

Here are the specs for your HP TouchSmart IQ504 Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model shipped with Windows Vista 64-bit and was introduced for sale on or about 13-Jul-2008... making it over 5 years old. Due to its age, HP has no intention of providing specific support or drivers for this model. Please read HP's position below.
    THIS is HP's position on Windows 8 support and any HP computer not originally supplied with Windows 8;
    1) Not all Windows 8 features may be available on all PCs.
    2) Your particular experience with Windows 8 will be determined by the capabilities of your PC.
    3) HP is providing upgrade instructions and drivers will be available for most Windows 7 systems sold after 1st October 2011.
    4) If you want to restore the original operating system after upgrading, you must create HP recovery media before you upgrade.
    5) Please note that if you purchased your system prior to October 1, 2011, HP has not tested these PCs or developed Windows 8 upgrade instructions or drivers for them. Upgrading such systems may be difficult or impossible.
    and
    Important information regarding additional limitations and requirements;
    1) Screen Resolution Requirements
    2) Limitations with DVD playback software
    3) Limitations with Blu-ray playback software
    4) Limitations with TV Tuner software
    5) Secure Boot & other UEFI dependent features
    6) Limitations with touch screen capabilities
"Windows 7 (also includes Windows Vista) PCs with touch screens will not have full Windows 8 touch capabilities after upgrade. HP PCs with touch input hardware designed for Windows 7 will provide a comparable experience for only two touch point applications after the upgrade to Windows 8. HP Windows PCs with touch input hardware will not support Windows 8 applications that require more than two simultaneous touch points. Additionally, Windows 8 edge swipes may not be available due to the recessed bezel on HP touch systems shipped with Windows 7."
    7) HP TouchSmart Magic Canvas and HP TouchSmart applications are not compatible with Windows 8 and must be uninstalled before upgrading. Note that content created using the TouchSmart applications such as Graphitti will not be available after upgrading.
With all of that said, you may be able to clean install Windows 8 or upgrade your current OS to Windows 8 and it may work but many of its features may no longer function under Windows 8.

  • SQL 2008 R2 In-Place Upgrade or Fresh Install to SQL2104

We have a server running Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2 currently.  We will call it SQL01.  This houses databases for about 8 different applications and also has the name hard coded into a lot,  I repeat, a lot of various things.
We are at the point where one of our applications needs to be upgraded and it only works with SQL 2014.  So we need to either do an in-place upgrade or fresh install.
The obvious choice to me as a system admin is to do a fresh install, but the development side of the department knows how many places the name "SQL01" is hard coded and they want to do an in-place upgrade to avoid all the issues that would show
    up if we changed names.
I have several questions, and I'd appreciate that the answers address them all if possible.
    1.  What are people's experiences with in-place upgrades from SQL 2008 R2 to SQL 2014?
    2.  To avoid this naming and coding issue, do companies use a permanent alias for their SQL servers?  Like with exchange, we have an alias or A record pointing "mail" to the current Exchange server.  As we do upgrades and the Exchange
server names change, the "mail" entry will always be pointed to the current one.  Do people do this for SQL as well to avoid our issue of hard coding names?
    3.  I've head that you can also have both SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2014 on the same server running together.  This really doesn't help though if the SQL 2014 instance would need to be something other than the default which everything is currently pointed
    to correct?
    4.  Is there any advice about a better way to go about this?  Or a better way to do this moving forward?  Other than not hard coding which I can't change now?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Adding to the answers provided above, please consider discontinued features no longer available on SQL Server 2014.
I often see company configuring SQL Server aliases when installing SQL Server on SharePoint environments. You can certainly use DNS or use the following article.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190445.aspx
An in-place upgrade is easier but is difficult to rollback in case something goes wrong. Meanwhile, a side-by-side upgrade provides you more control over what is upgraded, it keeps the legacy server online during the upgrade allowing you to easy rollback if
needed, but is not an automated process and the instance will not keep the same name, requiring you to use aliases or other ways to avoid client redirection.
Since you cannot change the application, go for a side-by-side upgrade and try the DNS alias or the client-side alias as I provided the procedure above.
    Hope this helps.

  • Firmware Upgrade problem?

How many people have come across this problem? We are due to upgrade from 3.1(a) to 3.2(2c) but after reading this document I don't think we will.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5990/products_field_notice09186a00809398cf.shtml

Hi, I don't really understand why you would avoid upgrading.
Cisco have carefully documented a 'workaround' which is so that you can perform the upgrade by following the documented workaround procedure, and therefore not be at risk of the "rare condition".
Kudos to you for researching the upgrade and finding the field notice, but I would suggest you move forward with the upgrade, by not upgrading, you will eventually find yourself in a position you MUST upgrade either to fix a problem you are experiencing, or to take advantage of some new feature.
In my experience when you are forced into the position of upgrading sometime down the track, the process to upgrade becomes so much more difficult.
IMHO.. upgrade now while you understand the exposure and the workaround, don't leave it until the urgent requirement surfaces, and you have forgotten about this exposure.

  • Upgrade from OS X 10.6.8 to 10.7.3 or greater

I am trying to upgrade and am having a difficult time.  The App store says I must upgrade to a higher version of Snow Lepard before I can get to Mountain lion but an upgrad of Snow Leapard does not seem to exists....Help

Well, 10.6.8 is as high as Snow Leopard goes - are you sure your machine will support Mountain Lion?
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
Updates from, say, 10.6.3 to 10.6.5 etc. are free.
A new OS, such as 10.7 or 10.8 (Mountain Lion) are upgrades and cost money - those two are about $20 each; if your machine supports it you can go directly to 10.8 if you are running 10.6.8.

If you do an actual "upgrade", please be aware that much of the HP value-added software that came with the computer will have to be uninstalled before doing the upgrade. You may also run into other minor issues with other software already on the computer. The only way to go back to Windows 7, is to use the HP Recovery Discs you should have already created. If you haven't yet created these discs, do so BEFORE upgrading to Windows 8.

  • G4 TO G5 INTEL AND FCP3 UPGRADING INFO NEEDED.

Hello everyone. I have a G4 Dual 800 with both OS9.2.2 and OSX.3.9 installed as well as FCP3. I'm planning to get a G5 Intel Deskktop some time near now and wish to be told exactly what I'll need in the way of upgrading my FCP stuff - how difficult/easy and the cashflow involved with it. So far I've mainly used OS9.2.2 with just occasional use of OSX with FCP editing due to one or two difficulties I found with the latter.
In view of the many changes which I've not engaged in, I'd like someone with the knowledge to give me an A to B advice including the reasons for whatever I need to get. So far,
Hope I'm not being too demanding with this - and thanks in advance to anyone with the knowledge and willingness to oblige.
    Ron
    Desktop G4 Dual 800   Mac OS 9.2.x

    G4 was Moto/freescale 74xx.
    G5 = IBM 970 series (basically)
I would look at getting a G5 2.7DP PCI-X NOW even, or the Quad (PCI-E) and 'wait out" the switch to "Mac-Intel" for software AND hardware to mature and avoid the first revision or so (look at the MacBook Pro issues that have arisen).
I guess it could be called "G6" though

  • Portege R500 - Upgrade procesor and RAM

Can I upgrade proceror and RAM in my R500?
Is possible?? If yes, how procesor can i used?
    Robert

    hi RoboS,
first of all the modell number is needed to check which hardware is in the machine.
to upgrade ram: easy - there should be a door marked with a ram-symbol on the bottom of the machine. open up and insert more memory
make sure that the system is powerless: remove ac-adapter and battery!
make also sure that the new ram modules meets the specifications.
upgrade the cpu: much more difficult and toshiba dont support this upgrade...
search for your modeltype with a bigger cpu and check if it has a socket (should be), this cpu should go together with your machine...
but remember: double the ram isnt that expensive than upgrade cpu and you have more fun with a bigger amount auf ram than a bit faster cpu....

  • Problem after upgrading to OSX

I have a power mac G4. For the longest time i've been running 9.2 on it.
This week I formatted the hard drive and installed OSX. After installation I ran software update and it upgraded me to the newest version of 10.39 Ever since I have changed the OS....many operations unexpectedly quit.
For example, i'll go to setup printers and it quits....I click on safari....safari loads but doesn't respond. etc etc. Anyone have an idea of what the problem may be? Or what direction I should go in to troubleshoot this?

Hi kindrecordings, and Welcome to Discussions!
Is the Firmware up to date, on the G4? Available Firmware Updates
Does the G4 meet the Panther System Requirements?
What size is the Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
How much RAM is installed, and is it original or added?
Did you use a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs?
What type of install did you do? A Simple Upgrade, an Archive & Install, or an Erase & Install?
Did you Repair Permissions, before & after the upgrade?

  • Windows 8 and a dead home sharing - not answered

Hi all. I've read through countless post about home sharing. Mine used to work and now I'm lucky if it just shows up on my new (3rd gen) iPad. I have changed Firewall setting in Norton (not Windows). I have turned them off, and yet nada. I've got the 4 main ports open - TCP ports 123 and 3689 as well as UDP ports 123 and 5353 so the firewall won't block them, but I'm still at a loss.
Right now, I'm at my wits end. Can anyone help me? I've talked with Norton, they tried and failed. I'm guessing this is now a stupid Window's issue, but I can't find it. I've turnoff and turned on services - Bonjour, Itunes.
Help.... I need my Home Sharing. ;-)
To any heros out there, thank you in advance.

Sorry, but no computer manufacturer is going to provide support for a new operating operating system on a computer over four years old. Your HP IQ804 originally came with Windows Vista and HP provided drivers for upgrading to Window 7. Your best bet is to download Windows 8 drivers from the actual manufacturers of the hardware contained in your computer... Intel, AMD/ATI, Nvidia, Realtek, Atheros, Ralink, etc
