Upgraded to Crystal 2008 - one of my reports now has no data

Upgraded to Crystal 2008, now at (12.3.0.601).
However one of my reports (which was previously developed in Crystal X1) is now coming up blank.
I've tested the data on the previous system and the report comes back correctly so there is not an issue with data.
The report is built using XML Schema files and assigning the datasource from VS2008.
When the application is built with Crystal X1, this works fine.
I've refreshed the report using crystal 2008 but no good.
Other reports which use SP's as the source are working fine!
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick response.
What I mean by 'I refreshed the report in Crystal 2008' is that I opened the report in Crystal 2008 and verified it.
I did not have to do this with the other reports.
I cannot test this in the designer as the data gets assigned from the application.
However, the old version of the report with the same data works fine.
Note - there are no error message. The report displays with no data.
There are no code change made so everything points to the report which is strange.
Other reports work correctly but this one is different as it uses XML source.
Thanks.

  • Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 - Report formatting issues in viewer (extra space)

    Hello,
We have a Windows Form application developed in VS 2010 using the Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 runtime. We are having issue with extra spaces in text objects. For example: in a report header we have an object that has text similar to this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records.
When we run it within Crystal 2008 Designer, it looks great; however, when we run it from the Windows Viewer we developed, it looks like this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records    .
The viewer places extra spaces between records and the period (.).  We also noticed it places spaces in phone numbers:
    952 -555-555
There's an extra space between the 2 and the dash (-).
One thing we noticed is, if you change the viewer zoom to 98%, then the extra spacing goes away.
We just upgraded to SP1 for Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 and still the same issue. We are referencing these DLLS: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, CrystalDecisions.Shared, and CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms all version are 13.0.2000.0.
    Any help would be great.
    Thank you,
    Tyler

    Hi Tyler,
I copied the text from your other post into a new report and changed the fonts and previewed in my C# test app and I don't see the problem.
"We have a Windows App that we just converted to .NET 4.0 and updated the viewer to the Crystal Reports Viewer in VS 2010. When we 952-555-555 open a report that has a large block of static text in paragraphs left-aligned the spacing around punctuation is awful - there's almost a tab's worth of space between the last letter and the period. U.S. looks like US. This happens both with reports that were created in VS2008 and ones that were created in VS2010. It is only a problem in the viewer's display - if we print to a printer or export to PDF the spacing around punctuation is fine. It's also not a problem on our development workstations which are running Windows 7, but is a problem on our test servers which are running Windows 2003 Server. I ran the modules tool and found that the version of usp10.dll does match what the previous thread said it should be and it's coming from the c:\program files\sap businessobjects\crystal reports for .net framework 4.0\common\sap businessobjects enterprise xi 4.0\win32_x86\ folder. On my development machine when I run the modules tool I notice that a second instance of usp10.dll is called which is the version installed with Windows 7. We've tried changing fonts but none of the ones we've tried (originally in Times New Roman, 12, tried Arial, Times and various sizes) have made a difference. We also tried changing the print options with no improvement. The only thing that makes it slightly better is full-alignment but our customer insists that it be left-aligned."
I threw in the telephone number also you noted in this post.
I created a new report and copied the text above into a text object and then previewed. I then changed the fonts to various types and I don't see the problem.
I also used Courier New because it's a fixed font layout, meaning the same letter always uses the same amount of space, and it shows just fine also.
I've seen issues where the Video driver and screen size can affect the spacing. Usually updating the Video driver or changing your screen resolution resolves the problem.
What Video Drivers and Monitor are you using?
    And What OS?
    Thank you

  • Crystal 2008 Hangs When Opening Report With Geographic Map

Greetings - CR just hangs when I open a report that has an existing geographic map or if I create a new report with a geographic map.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and made sure the updates were applied.  Searched the forums but haven't found anything to help.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Hi Doug,
Usual next steps, What OS are you using and did you install CR with local Administrator rights?
Are you on a domain where your IT department have modified your profile, you may be in the Admin group but they can alter the default settings. Check to confirm.
Try Service Pack 2 from the download page, although I have not heard of anyone else having this specific problem.
Check the System and application Event logs to see if anything failed, permissions, access etc.
Is there anyone else in your company having the same problem? You could try downloading Process Monitor from www.sysinternals.com and filter on crw32.exe and watch when you try to access the maps.
    Thank you

  • CR 2008 Advanced Chart in Report Header -Returning Repeated Data

Very new to CR. I've a situation i need some assistance with. I have an advanced chart located in a report header. the chart is sourcing data from a stored procedure call. the stored procedure returns timeseries data (timestamp, value) for a one month period, thirty values. There are many columns in the result set but i'm trending only two of tehm in the trend.
Problem is that, although the data set has only thirty values, when I view the trend visually the data is repeated many times over. So i'll see the data for the dates 1...30, then 1...30, many times over. If I zoom into the trend I can get to a point where there's a single month of data in the extents but this isn't the desired behaviour; i want to see only the 30 values plotted.
    configuration is,
    Advanced Chart -Line chart format-
    "For each record"
    (Date Time Field)
    "Show Values"
    (Series Data Field)
I've confirmed  using Field Explorer / browse data that there are only thirty values in the result set. What am I overlooking here?

The same code throws an exception. can any one please help?
Here is the piece of code of stored proc

    Hi
    Just a few points.
    1. Are you opening the existing report (Created in CR 7) in Crystal 2008?
    2. If yes,I would suggest you to create a new report based on the same stored procedure.Create a new DSN for the database that you are using and the create a report based on that DSN and pointing to the mentioned Stored Procedure.

  • Crystal 2008 problem with Record Select Expert

I had a Crystal 10 report that worked fine where the Record Select Expert had a database table ID equal to a parameter... it was only supposed to report on 1 record.  After using Crystal 2008 on the same report it completely ignores this Select Record Expert setting.  I have tried deleting and re-adding the parameter.  It acts like there is no record select setting.
    Here is the formula that it shows me it is using:    {Components.ID} = {?@ID}
If I go to the application opening the same record on a different machine using the old crystal, it works fine.
This used to only show me the 1 record, now it shows me the report on every record in the table.  I tried upgrading the report to a 2008 report and it still does the same thing.  The report filter no longer works.   Do I need to do something different to select only 1 record in 2008 ?
After installing Crystal 2008 on my computer none of my reports work correctly anymore - all of them are ignoring my Record Select ...they worked fine before I installed 2008.  The reports are older reports... they worked fine when I had Crystal XI R2 installed.  This all started after installing Crystal 2008
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hello, Jeff;
I noticed the Record Selection Formula uses a Stored Procedure parameter:
    {Components.ID} = {?@ID}
A parameter created in the report (not by a stored procedure) would be:
    {Components.ID} = {?ID}
A report based on a Stored Procedure does not need a Selection formula for the Stored Procedure parameter. Connecting to the Stored Procedure automatically creates the parameter in the report and the value is passed automatically when the report is run.
Does the report work in the Crystal Reports 2008 designer?
Open the report in the designer. Go to Database Set Datasource location. Are the properties of the database at runtime still the same as what is saved in the report.
If the database is different at runtime, just as a test, change to the new database in a copy of your original report. Do a Database|Verify Database. Does it come back the "Database is uptodate" or are there changes?

  • Blank first page on DHTML viewer in Crystal 2008

I have seen some threads regarding this issue but no real resolution.
We are using Crystal 2008 running in a Windows 2003 web server and IIS 6. With the base version of Crystal 2008 installed, everything worked fine when rendering reports in the DHTML viewer. As soon as we upgraded to Crystal 2008 SP2, all reports now show a blank first page.
If you page back and forth or do an export, the data on the first page are displayed.
Does anyone have any ideas what caused this and how to fix it other than uninstalling the service packs?

Let's back up a bit. How did you actually deploy the Crystal Reports 2008 .NET Runtime to your web server? Based on your last message it sounds like you use the original CD media? If so this is incorrect.
You mentioned you copied the crv.js from a cab file from the install media. This might account for your problems because you are using an old of out date .js file with newer engine components.
The way I always suggest to deploy to a web server is to use our server redist files. Below are a few of the files you could use. I've listed FP3.3, SP 3 and SP 2. I don't know what patch level you want to be at so the decision is up to you.

  • Crystal 2008 DB2 error that works in Crystal XI R1

We finally converted a legacy server from Crystal Server XI R1 to Crystal 2008. All users are now suppose to start writing in CR2008 only.
We found a small number of reports running again a DB2 data source that are erroring out when run on CR2008 locally or on the server..
Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: [Database Vendor Code: -204 ]
    - The same reports run fine on the same machine against the same data source when opened and run in CRXI.
It appears that running them in CR2008 adds a schema value "Username." to the db2 command and thus the DB2 -204 error.
SQL0204N name is an undefined name.
The problem happens whether we use ODBC or DB2 Unicode Connections.
    Any ideas?

Answer: Service Market Place you will see it is now available.
This turns out not to be the case.
These are the options in the marketplace. Note, no CRS2008 V2, sp2 or fix pack 2.5 etc.
         CRYSTAL REPORTS SERVER
         CRYSTAL REPORTS SERVER 2008 V0
         CRYSTAL REPORTS SERVER 2008 V1
         CRYSTAL REPORTS SERVER XI R2
Answer: One possible work around is to install Crystal Reports on the CR Server PC and then you can apply the CR patch. It should update all of the CSE runtime. BUT PLEASE do this on a test system first. The install may detect CRS is installed an not allow you to though.
We are testing this to see if this is your solution.
My last response was a question on whether this had been tested, since you mentioned back on March 29th that you were testing. We do not have a test server for this product due to licensing contraints. Has this method for updating the server been tested?

  • From Crystal 11.5 app VB6 to VS2003 Crystal 2008

We are converting a Crystal VB6 application into C# with Crystal 2008 (VS2003). We will be processing existing reports from versions 11.5 down to version 10.
Here are some VB6 statements, what are the equivalent in the .NET Crystal 2008 api
    1) CRAXDRT.Report.VerifyOnEveryPrint = false
they did this on VB because they did not wanted any addition report refresh or verification of the database
I see that there is a EnableVerifyOnEveryPrint property, but it is not clear how to access it using the ReportDocument. The ReportOptions from the ReportDocument do not include VerifyOnEveryPrint.
    2) CRAXDRT.Report.EnableParameterPrompting = false
    Disable parameter prompting
    3) CRAXDRT.Report.EnableSelectDistinctRecords = true
    Thanks

    1. The ReportDocument.VerifyDatabase will check the database is available and that the logon information is correct.
    2. The closest equivalent will be the CrystalReportViewer.EnableParameterPrompt. The ReportDocument doesn't have the ability to prompt for parameters values.
    3. I wasn't able to find this one.

  • Path from Crystal 8.5 CRPE to Crystal 2008?

    Hi folks,
We're working on a product that has C-style calls to the Crystal Reports Print Engine ( CRPE ) dating from back in the Crystal Reports 6/7/8 era ...and we'd like to upgrade to Crystal 2008 deployment if possible.  But we're concerned that a Crystal 2008 upgrade would force us to rewrite ( not just modify ) older C++ code that uses CRPE calls.
    1) I don't see any reference ( so far ) in Crystal 2008 development materials about the CRPE ...has the CRPE been deprecated? eliminated?  Is it dead and gone?
    2) Is there any way to produce reports from code using CRPE API calls when Crystal 2008 has been deployed?  ...Or, if the CRPE is completely gone, do we have to use an entirely different method to call reports in Crystal 2008?
    3) If we must scrap all legacy CRPE-related code, what's the simplest way to generate Crystal 2008 reports from ( non .Net ) C++ code?
    4) whichever direction is most prudent, are there white papers/help/etc we can visit that describes a suitable upgrade path for us?
    Thanks for you help...!

    Hi ReportGuy,
    Yes, No, .NET and Samples.
Win32 app's using crpe32 has been deprecated since version 9 so no you have no option but to  upgrade now. CR XI R2 ( 11.5 ) still ships the RDC which is COM based and can be used in C++ app's but it's no longer shipped as of CR 2008 either.
We highly recommend that you move to Visual Studio .NET and use the CR Assemblies. Using C# is not that far off of C++ but you do have to go to managed code. And no there is no simple conversion.
.NET is the only way to go and the Best we you can do is download our samples off the Start page and web site.
The .NET Forums has a lot of info also, samples is likely the best palce to start though.
    Thank you

  • Crystal 2008 Reduces Print Size

We have noticed some strange printing results on a few of our reports in the Crystal 2008 Windows form viewer that we use in our .NET application.  For example, we have a few reports that will print perfectly from the Designer, but the entire output (font, images, etc.) is reduced and centered on the page when printed through our application.  This is problematic whenever the report is printed on u201Cspecialu201D stock other than plain paper, such as stock with preprinted image areas or perforations. In such cases, we have problems of misalignment.  We have discovered that the reports that exhibit this behavior have 0 margins, which we are planning to fix by setting .25 inch margins.
I would like to know, however, are there any other printing issues we need to be aware of in the Crystal 2008 viewer?  Does the Printer Driver Dependency article still apply to Crystal 2008, or is there a more up to date version of best practices for printing?
    Thanks
    Darin

    Hello,
Search on ForceLargeFonts and see if that registry key helps...
    PDF export
Then Export to PDF and then print the report.
Also, try the No Printer option and Dissociate check box.
There are known issues due to MS's .NET Framework and printer drivers, MS scales the print job just slightly and nothing CR can do to force it not to. We tracked it and R&D told use they can't resolve the scaling issue, it's MS doing it.
It works in CR Designer because it still uses WIN32 API's and the legacy DEVMODE(W) structure which can get to. .NET handles DEVMODE(W) in a new way which we can't control fully.

  • How to schedule report filtered by dynamic date based on the date the Agent runs

    Hello
I have a question about delivering report using OBIEE agent.
If i am running an agent today to deliver report A, can I get report A based on Last Monday's date or any dynamic dates?
For example, say today is Dec 18th 2013 and my agent is running according to how I set the schedule. Now the deliver content will have report A being delivered. Now report A has a date column, normally this column is filtered by current date. But if it's delivered through agents to various users, Report A's data should be the previous Monday, so in this case Dec 9th 2013. When this agent is run again said on Dec 27th 2013, then report A should be filtered by Dec 16th 2013, which is the previous monday of Dec 27th.
Can something like this be achieved in OBIEE 11G?
    Thanks in advance.

    Yala,
    Not a straight forward way
    1) Let the report run through Agent with Current Date filter
    2) once it ran for the first time you can see IBOT name/last run time(LAST_RUNTIME_TS) in  S_NQ_JOB
Create a repository variable 'last_run_agent' using below sql to get max(LAST_RUNTIME_TS)
    select max(LAST_RUNTIME_TS) from s_nq_job where name = 'AGENT_NAME';
Edit the analysis report with current date filter and modify the filter condition accordingly to filter on newly created repository variable
    Thanks,

  • Crystal Reports Server XI upgrade to Crystal Reports Server 2008

I have downloaded the Crystal Reports Server 2008 upgrade from the portal.  Questions:
The "Upgrading Your Crystal Reports Server Delpoyment from XI or XI Relase 2 to Crystal Rpeorts Server 2008" (simple install) documentation mentions that the installer should recognize my installation and prompt to upgrade.  Instead, the first prompt that I get is for a license key.  Is this normal, or should the application be seeing my existing install?
If I do indeed need a 2008 license key, how do I obtain one?  It will not accept may CRXI Server keys, and I cannot see anyplace to download the new keys.

    Hi,
I think you can request for new keys:
    For a new key:
Request key codes for new orders via SAP Marketplace (SMP), will receive a download letter on new purchases providing them with their SMP login credentials. Using these credentials you can login and click in the "Keys & Requests" tab > Request a License key.
