Upgraded to Desktop 6.2.2, now 755P crashes

I've been a happy treo user for years. A few days ago, I had a problem.
I upgraded Palm Desktop to 6.2.2 and synched my 755P. Somewhere in the process (it might have been from the download page), I got a message that some programs might be incompatible. I decided to risk it, because I trust Palm.
My beloved 755P now manifests 2 highly undesirable characteristics:
1) Whenever I try to "FIND" anything (white button + magnifying glass), it crashes and restarts.
2) On several occasions, in the midst of a call (or even while it's idly sitting on my desk, as happened just a moment ago!!!), the 755P crashes and restarts.
Neither of these behaviours took place before the upgrade. My 755P is my constant companion. It has become untrustworthy. Help, please...ASAP.

Hoping you can help me again.
I followed the instructions to install the correct version of Palm Desktop (Version 4.14 for XP) after having first deleted the registry entries and the program (using Add/Remove Programs).
Now my problem is this: upon first synching thePalm, it gets as far as "Synchronizing Calendar"...and no farther. The HotSynch Progress window has said the same thing for 10 minutes now. Actually, this is the second time this has happened. After the first time, I repeated the uninstall process/deletion of registry entries, reinstalled the softward, and BOOM...the same result.
Any idea why this might be happening and how to correct it?
Thanks in advance for your generous assistance.

I responded with the suggestion "the best version is the one on your installation disk".  You've now chosen 4.1.4?
That isn't the version on your disk.  I gave you a link to 4.2!

  • Upgraded to itunes 11.4 and now it crashes on every sync

I upgraded to itunes 11.4 (Win 7 64Bit), now every time I try to sync my iphone itunes crashes when syncing apps. Before it comes to syncing the apps everythings works fine. Calendar, contacts etc are being synced. I already de- and reinstalled everything as stated here but no luck. Only thing that happened is that now I don't have ANY apps on my phone. It's totally blank, except the original apps like mail etc. I also reinstalled the Microsoft C++ redistributable as advised in other posts. Nothing seems to work.

Does anyone know how ti fix this?

Sorry, but this is NOT an acceptable solution.
It should not matter to Apple where we store the iTunes library file.  This should be controlled (and is a preference configuration) by the preference settings.  That is what preferences are for after all.
The fact that they seem (based on the post by Tom) to have assumed that it is on the c:\ drive is purely sloppy and stupid thinking.
Apple in my experience ignores the reality of the Windows world and where network or external drives are common.
Poor coding on Apples part does not excuse this sort of error.
I work in IT and if a developer under my control made this sort of fundamental error, they would probably be dismissed for stupidity.
Apple needs to fix this with a proper configurable solution NOW

  • Upgraded to iTunes 11.1 and now it crashes everytime I play a track. Why?!

I get this message come up:
internal error 'an uncaught exception was raised. choose "Continue" to continue running in an inconsistent state. Choose "Crash" to halt the application and file a bug with Crash Reporter. Choosing "Crash" will result in the loss of all unsaved data.
    Any ideas?!

So I've updated to 11.1.1 and I still have the same problem!
I select and track to play and it starts playing but this message come up:
internal error 'an uncaught exception was raised. choose "Continue" to continue running in an inconsistent state. Choose "Crash" to halt the application and file a bug with Crash Reporter. Choosing "Crash" will result in the loss of all unsaved data.
If I click on anything else then Itunes crashes and closes.
    Its a myth!

  • Help! I just upgraded my desktop to Windows 8 and now my iPhone 4 won't sync!

    Hello, all!
I just upgraded my desktop computer to Windows 8 (love it!), but now my iPhone won't sync. I am stumped...even a friend who's an amazing computer tech doesn't know what to do.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Happy Thanksgiving!
    Janie:)

    1) Uninstall iTunes, de-authorize your computer first...read here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    2) Then download the latest iTunes installer from apple.
    3) Save installer to your downloads folder.
    4) Right click on installer and run as administrator...important you do this.
    5) Run the install as normal
    6) Open and authorize your computer in itunes.

  • MBP Slowed so much after upgrade, added RAM, now it crashed many times

    Hi,
My MBP slowed so much righted away after I upgraded to OS X Mavericks, I upgraded to 16GB RAM as suggested, and the problem of slow got resloved, but now it crashed all the time, totally crased over 10 times within couple days(only few hours of using), I am pasting my MBP info here, please help to identify the crashing problem, is it the bad RAM? or some program caused it?   I brought my 16GB RAM at macsales.com.
    This was my old thread:

I use VM Ware. The crash only tell me "your computer had a problem" or something like that, but it won't say which program caused it. Sometimes I was using firefox, it got crashed, sometimes when I try to open VM Ware, it crashed, sometimes, I leave my MBP there, it crashed itself.

  • I have a WRT54G2 router, want to upgrade my Desktop to VISTA, anything I need to prepare.

First, thanks for any help in advance. Second, please no "Don't bother with Vista/Vista sucks/Wait until Windows 7 etc"
I know all that but I have my reasons lol!
OK, I have a Desktop with XP Pro SP3 and a Laptop with Windows 7 RC build 7100. Both are working great with my WRT54G2  wireless router, I can share files between them and Network Magic is working great on both machines. Of course my Desktop is connected by direct cable (From Cable Modem to Router to Desktop) while my Laptop is connected to the router wirelessly.
I want to "upgrade" my Desktop from XP Pro SP3 to Vista Ultimate Edition. Now, I would hope that re-installing Network Magic I assume I will have to re-add my Desktop? How do I import my current network setting to the new OS? What are the steps I need to take in order to have the same setup with as little problems as possible?
The fact that I currently have both setup and running great is pretty much the limit (maybe I had a bit of luck?) of my Router setup knowledge so please any replies in simple terms would be appreciated. If their is already a thread or info regarding this topic I apologize as I could not find it but would greatly appreciate if you could direct me accordingly. THANKS AGAIN!

After upgrading your operating System to Windows7...Install the Network Magic step by step on your Computer.
Now,Launch Network Magic by clicking the Network Magic icon located on the desktop.Once the Cisco Network Magic window appears, click the Tasks button on the top of the screen. When the Network Tasks screen appears, select Add a Device. When the Add a Device window will appears, you can select Computer or Other device.Next, select whether the new device is using a wired or wireless connection.Make sure the computer is properly connected to the router. Once connected, click Next to continue. Once the device you wanted to add is found, click Finish to complete the installation.

  • Tungsten T3, resurrected: Upgrading OS & Desktop Software

I've resurected my Tungsten T3 from the abyss after over a year of inactivity.  I recently learned that all it needed was a battery replacement, so I sent it off for same.
Thanks to rhaw from Tech Support, on this forum, a show-stopper issue with hotsyncing was solved.  Now I'm up and running once again, and I'm getting a bit overconfident in that I can have an even better experience with my beloved PDA, .  I'm daring enough to want to not only upgrade the Desktop Software, but the OS itself, if possible.  (PDA & PC data provided below)
First off, after such long inactivity, I don't remember how to determine the OS for this Tungsten T3.  So, if I could get some help with that, it would certainly be appreciated.  Secondly, is it wise to upgrade the palmOne Palm Desktop software?  Here are the specifics:
    PDA: Tungsten T3
    Current Desktop software: Version 4.1.4
    Hotsync Manager:            Version 4.01
    Install Tool App:               Version 4.0.1
    PC: Dell XPS710
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
    Service Pack 1 Build 6001
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU   6600  @ 2.40GHz, 2394 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
Perhaps I should be wondering why all's well on a Vista machine now, or no?
I will be grateful for any input/insight,
    Captain
    Post relates to: Tungsten T3

Okay, I'm a bit embarrassed, but my OS is v.5.2.1.  It was quite easy to find, once I started looking for it . . . under apps/information.  I suppose I've been re-newbied by laying dormant with this T3 for more than a year.  In any event, my original questions stand, which, in effect is, "should I be upgrading the OS and the desktop software now that I'm on a Vista 32bit machine, and if so, how should I proceed?
    Thanks,
    Capt

  • Upgrading Palm Desktop

I had a Tungsten E2 and loved it, but it is wearing out and they don't make them anymore, so I decided to come into the modern world and get a Pre. When I got my Pre, I wanted to keep using the Palm Desktop, because I wanted to keep the nine years of data that exists on it. I bought Echo software so I could do that. Echo requires Desktop 6.2.2. I had 4.1.4 (or something like that- whatever came with the E2). When I installed the 6.2.2 upgrade all my calendar data disappeared. I tried a system restore and the information came back. I reinstalled 6.2.2 and it disappeared again.  Does anyone know how to upgrade to Desktop 6.2.2 without losing all the calendar information?  It seems odd (that's a polite way of putting it) that Palm doesn't make software that is compatible with its old software.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Sorry if this is too obvous, but are you sure you are looking at your existing Hotsync ID's data in the new installation of Palm Desktop?  The box in the top right corner should have a drop-down list of Hotsync IDs imported from your previous installation.  No?
Second question: is it just the calendar data that's gone?  How about your contacts?
Third question: after the new installation, have you tried Hotsyncing the E2 to the new Palm Desktop?
Suggestion: before you do that, install a copy of NVBackup onto a SD card...just download (use google) and copy the nvbackup.prc file to the /palm/launcher folder on the card using a card reader if you have one, if you cannot Hotsync it over.  Then, run NVBackup on the E2.  If the data goes missing from a bad installation of Palm Desktop, you're literally about two minutes away from a complete restore on the E2.
Lastly, Palm has not owned the Palm Desktop software for a number of years now.  Palm Desktop 6.2.2 was not developed by Palm, but by the current owner of the Palm Desktop and Palm Operating System (a Japanese company called Access).

I ended up putting it in DFU mode.  It's kinda hard to tell it was in DFU mode because nothing showed on the screen, it was just black, but the sounds from the computer helped to tell me it was connected.
Itunes still didn't recognize the device for whatever reason.
So I used redsn0w.  I don't know if I can say that on these forums, but considering itunes was worthless at this point I am going to give credit where credit is due.
Now I am giving itunes a second chance to upgrade to 5.1, if it doesn't work, well, back to redsnow and maybe I will even jailbreak it this time rather than just using the fecovery fix found under extras.
