Upgraded to iTunes 7.4.2, nothing will play

I upgraded to 7.4.2 last night and ever since I restarted my computer and re-opened iTunes, my music won't play. My library is all there and iTunes continues to be responsive but any time I click play on a song, it doesn't work. It appears as if it's playing - ie, the play button changes to pause, as if it's working - but the counter doesn't move off zero and nothing else seems to be happening. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?? Or tell me if I can uninstall this latest version of iTunes and go back to my last one?

I have the same problem too. I suspect Apple wants to force me to upgrade my OS. If this is the case, I shall be very upset. I've tried uninstalling and re installing an older version but this doesn't work either as the installer file appears to be missing now. I've been a loyal Mac user for 15 years and I was considering purchasing a new Mac soon, but my experience with itunes recently has put me right off the idea.

Since upgrading to iTines 10.4, none of my music will play on my laptop. I have cahnged all of the iTunes settings back to their defaults and still none of the music plays. iTunes acts like it's playing the song, the controls change from the "play" symbol to the "pause" symbol, my volume is fine, the icon that tracks the progress through the song doesn't move and no music is played.
Any help any of you could provide, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

A friend upgraded my flash player and now nothing will work.

I am completely computer stupid. My friend said that my flash player needed to be upgraded. He upgraded it for me and now nothing will work. Youtube, games, etc. Can someone help me fix it. Like I said I am computer stupid so I will need step by step instructions if anyone can help.

I downloaded the most recent update to Itunes yesterday and now I can't play any music. It just sits still. The play button is pushed but nothing will play. Any help?

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

Accidentally changed scrub rate and now nothing will play

I was listening to an audio book, and I went to change the time I was at in the bar and moved my finger the wrong way and changed the scrub rate and now nothing will play, no matter how fine or normal the scrub rate is. Seriously, how do i change it back so I can hear sound again!?

And then I paused it to finish something and then when I went back to play, the sound wouldn't work again. What am I supposed to do? What's with this scrub rate nonesense? Help me please!!

Upgraded to iTunes 6.0 now songs will not play

I upgraded to iTunes 6.0, now when I go to play a song the run time shows up as a negative number and the song will not play. I reinstalled the software several times and reauthorized the computer. Does anyone have a solutions to this problem?

I should add that every time I remove the iPod from my computer to try and see if any of the songs are back it asks me for a language just like the first time you start it up. Kinda like it forgets everytime I plug it into the computer.

I upgraded to iTunes 10.7. Nothing syncs now. How do I fix this?

Everything worked fine until I upgraded to iTunes 10.7. I cannot sync my iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad 2, and iPad 3. I get all sorts of odd messages. For example: cannot start a session because iPhone cannot be found; cannot sync because a session cannot be started, etc. Yet, both devices appear in the iTunes device list. I tried suggestions from other threads. These did not work at all and caused me to lose data from my iPod Touch. I dread the thought of losing data and am deeply disappointed that Apple would release an iTunes upgrade that would to this. I deleted my backups, restarted the Apple Mobile Device service, etc. Nothing worked. What do I do now?

1. Tried rebooting iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPods - didn't wok.
2. Tried rebooting PC with Win 7 - didn't work.
3. Tried turning Apple Mobile Service off and on - didn't work.
4. Tried deleting backup files and then trying to back up the devices again - didn't work.
5. Tried re-installing iPod Touch - didn't work.
6. Tried running iTunes as administrator - didn't work.
7. Tried de-installing and reinstall fresh copy of iTunes 10.7 - didn't work.
8. Tried plugging in each device into new USB port - didn't work.
9. Tried copying with apps, music, photos, etc. unchecked - didn't work.
Messages received:
1. Unable to sync because cannot start session.
2. Cannot connect to device.
Everything synced fine before the 10.7 upgrade.
Nothing syncs after the 10.7 upgrade.
Spent hours last night and today trying to get this stuff to work.
What did Apple do to create this mess? How can it be corrected?

Nothing will play in itunes

I click play on songs and nothing will start to play.
I have itunes 11.4 and recently connected my iphone 5 via usb to it so i think that might have something to do with it. All the songs used to play fine and are still in my itunes library. I have no music on my phone synced over apart from voice memos so i can copy recordings over to my mac.

Totally bizarre it started playing half an hour later all by itself even though I had restarted itunes and it wasn't being unresponsive in any other actions. Very strange.

Upgraded to 7.7 now NO songs will play

After upgrading to iTunes 7.7 I tired playing the songs in my library. The little speaker icon is showing next to the song, the play button is shown as 'pushed' to play...however the progress bar for *any song* I try to play is not progressing. NONE of my songs will play in my library, nor, after I plugged in my iPop, will any of my songs on my iPod play through the **** upgraded iTunes either.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Are you currently also getting an "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration" message when you launch iTunes?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Upgrade to iTunes 8 and now can't play movies

I updated from iTunes 7. something to 8 and can no longer play DVD's using PowerDVD or WMP. I can't even see the disk drive under My Computer. I did a system restore on my HP laptop and could play movies again but when I tried to open iTunes the the library had been updated and couldn't be read by older versions of iTunes.
I need to either figure what iTunes 8 did to my system or find a way to convert my library back to form that is usable by an older version of iTunes that will play nice with my laptop.

That error message used to appear with an old version of iTunes and I think it was Quicktime related:

Just guessing here, but this is what I suggest:
I would remove iTunes and related programs using the following method:
XP

Then follow the advice about removing old versions of iTunessetup in the first link. Clear your temporary internet files.
Download a fresh copy of iTunes - saving it on your desktop and running it from there.

Sounds like you have accidentally unchecked all items. In the Songs view ctrl-click on any empty checkbox.
