Upgraded to Lion OS, Safari replaying Youtube video audio

Since I upgraded to the Lion OS, I have had a problem with Safari.  I made a screen movie of three short Youtube videos
for a work project, which I burned to a DVD, using iDVD.  I used Safari to go to the Youtube website. Though I have since deleted the Quicktime files for this project, and the iDVD file for it, there must be some hidden files of it somewhere as the audio of all three videos begins to play everytime I open Safari.  (It doesn't seem to happen when using Google Chrome, or other application on this computer.) I have used the Finder to try to figure out where some hidden copies of files related to this project are, but have been unsuccessful.  I have done many projects similar to this, using my Mac, but never had this problem before.  Any ideas?  Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

Open Safari prefs.  Set "safari opens with" to "homepage" instead of samepage...

  • Since upgrading to Lion, I cannot play QuickTime videos in Safari 5.1.1, not even on Apple's own website?

Upgraded to Lion and now I cannot watch QuickTime videos in Safari 5.1.  Did not have this problem in Snow Leopard.  QuickTime videos do play in Firefox.  I cannot even play QuickTime videos on Apple's own website.  Any suggestions?  I'm using a Macbook Core 2 Duo.

    Hi Sami,
I have partially solved my problem.  I had software installed for a Twelve South BassJump (it improves the sound of your laptop speakers).  When I removed that software, I was able to play videos on Apple's website in Safari.  The company has beta software available from their website that is supposed to be Lion compatible but when I installed that the problem returned.  But even with that software removed I still cannot watch videos on some sites such as Other World Computing.
I just got a new Macbook Pro yesterday with Lion installed from Apple and all video plays fine.  So I believe there must be some compatibilty issues with some plug-in.  I have Perian and Flip4Mac installed.  I removed 3ivx and the problem still remains.  I've read conflicting opinions as to Perian being Lion compatible.
Everything works fine in Firefox at this point so at least I have that to fall back on.
Check your system preference pane under "other" and tell me if you have any of the plug-ins I mentioned installed.  Maybe we will be able to see a common culprit.
    Let's keep each other posted.
    Thanks,

  • Upgraded to Lion and Safari won't open.  I have completed all available software upgrades, reset the macbook several times, no luck.  Any suggestions?

    I'm using a 2008 macbook 10.7.4 operating system.
I had purchased lion a while ago but had to wait for a fast internet connection to download and install.
I did that today and now safari won't open.
I have reported the issue as it does automatically.
But obviously I would love to have a solution to the problem.
I do have time machine and completed a back-up just before upgrading to Lion - so if I have to I can reverse back to snow leopard, but that's a last resort.
Any solutions or work-arounds for this?  I can't seem to find any other solutions from the blogs.

    Before anything else...try...
    Quit Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari. If that helped, move the.plist file to the Trash. If not, move it back to the Preferences folder.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder

  • Replay youtube videos

    Hi,
Is there a way to look up a YouTube video on my iPhone and replay it? I don't have a large data allowance and at the moment, if I want to watch it again, I have to load the video all over again. It is not a problem unless the video completely finishes and moves on to the info screen, if I rewind it before it finishes, I have no problems.
How can I replay the video once it has finished playing, without having to redownload it?
    Thanks.

  • No sound on youtube videos/audio posts but itunes works.

When I go to youtube, the volume on the youtube videos are up all the way and so is my sound but nothing is heard. I've tried multiple videos. Also, when I'm on tumblr, the audio posts don't play either BUT when I listen to itunes, the tracks play perfectly and I can hear it.

YouTube uses Adobe Flash, maybe you can re-install Flash or right click on the video and check the sound settings

  • No sound using Safari on youtube videos

    Hi all,
I have a new macbook (my first mac) and using Safari I do not get any sound when viewing videos on youtube.
The sound works fine with itunes and garage band.
I have tried dragging the com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist file to the trash, emptying the trash, and rebooting with no luck.
I've also searched threads without any luck there either.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott.

I have a Mac Mini that has the same problem. It works fine on iTunes, etc, but sound from Safari is very very faint and garbled a bit. I have a lot of amplification in my output chain, so I can barely hear it with all of it turned to ridiculous levels. I have seen other posts about starting Garageband and Audio MIDI Setup with no luck. My youTube level is all the way up, and it also does it from an mp3 file streamed from a web page. The Audio MIDI Setup screen has the little sliders in the lower right all the way down, but grayed out so that I cannot turn them up. This seems to be the way to fix it, but they are inactive.
I also have a Firewire device hooked up (Presonus Firebox), but that will not play it either (also works with iTunes fine).
There are a lot of instances of this on the web. What is the deal, Apple?

  • No video, only sound in Safari embedded YouTube videos

I've noticed this past week that on both iPad and iPhone, videos from YouTube which previously played straight from Safari (embedded in a blog etc.) suddenly no longer play. That is, on the iPad it tries to play – I get sound but no video; I just see the original web page with a black box where the video should go. On the iPhone it doesn't even get that far. iPad is currently using the 4.3.5 system software. iPhone is a 4 running 4.3.3. Is anybody else having this problem, and any idea of a fix?

Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried each of those now on both devices and it hasn't made any difference I'm afraid. I've found a work around – clicking the YouTube icon lower right of the video frame opens the video in YouTube in a new tab, and that plays fine, providing I haven't already tried to play it in its embeded location. This is a little problematic as I'm hosting a site with YouTube content, and other people accessing it via an iOS device won't know whether they need to click the icon until after they've tried hitting the play button in the centre...
The video on the page below is a good example. Embed code is straight out of YouTube, and Syndication is set to on. Android users and iPads with older software versions have had no problems it seems.

  • Safari HTML 5 video audio stops

When watching HTML 5 video (Youtube for example) in Safari if I move the playhead the audio stops. The video will resume with no audio. Oddly this behaviour happens in Quicklook too for example when quicklooking an MP3. I am up-to-date with OS and software updates.
    Suggestions
    Thanks

I woud prefer to use the HTML 5 settings for YouTubes but the great point is that it's all HTML 5 video. YouTube was an example. Additionally, the issue would still remain for Quicklook as well.
Any other ideas or links to threads. I've looked but have not found anything helpful.
    Thanks

  • YouTube Videos on Safari automatically start to reload once iMAC is logged in

    Hello there,
I have an issue bothering you since I upgraded my iMAC to Lion OS, hope you can help.
Well previously when I had Snow Leopard as my OS, I could open Safari & view Youtube videos & in fact could have many Tabs in a Safari window, each having a unique YouTube video. Once I finished watching the videos, they could stay there if even the system logged out or went to sleep ... and when I would re-login  all the videos which were completely displayed would remain there & I could watch them rightawat again without having to reload them from Internet. Since I upgraded to Lion, whenever I view YouTube videos in Safari (one unique video on each tabbed page), they would remain there until the system remains logged in ... however if the system automatically logs out (due to prolonged in-activity) or goes to sleep and when I re-login then all the videos which were viewed already would automatically start to reload again.
This is really frustrating, can you please guide if its some configuration issue? I reckon the videos which once gets into Safari cache should remain there (as was the case in Snow Leopard) but apparently Safari initiates a fresh reload once the system is logged-in & unnecessarily starts downloading vides again.
    Can you advise the solution?
    Thanks.

Nevermind. I gave up and moved to Chrome. Having a much better time now, no worries.
But hey, if you want to answer this question for anyone else that might have this problem, then by all means go ahead.

  • Latest Version of Player not playing YouTube videos to end.

Version 11,4,402,287 on Chrome and Safari play YouTube video short of end.
1080p is like 15 sec from end, 720p plays to 10 sec from end, 480p to end or just short of end.
    Seems like a buffering problem.
But Version 11,5,31,101 on Chrome Canary plays fine.
    Mac OSX 10.7.5

This sounds like a problem with the current version of the PPAPI version of Flash built into the Chrome browser (especially if this is fixed in a canary build.)  Try installing the system plugin version and switching Chrome to that one to see if it helps.

  • Firefox will only play YouTube videos up to 720, how to fix?

This afternoon I watched an old video of mine on YouTube. Afterwards, YouTube now only gives the option of 360 or 720p playback. Internet Explorer will play the same videos at 4K, and I was able to watch 1080 up to 2160p before watching this old video, how do I fix Firefox?
    http://youtu.be/Je0sQwVynzI
There's the newest video, with a 4k playback option, I don't want to post the old video that caused the glitch but it's the first video in my channel.
    Please help!

After going into about:config I did 2 things:
    media.mediasource.enabled set to True
    then added
Right-click and select New > Boolean
    Name preference media.mediasource.ignore_codecs
    Set value to True
A ton of technical stuff just from playing an old video! Is there a simpler to fix this without hard setting things in the configuration?
And now I cannot replay youtube videos! It will pause if I try to go back. Considering a video will auto play so I will select the highest quality then scrub back to start this happens usually every time so this fix is worthless.

  • After upgrading to mountain lion, i cannot play any video at all, be it directly off a DVD, or through streaming like youtube, BBC iplayer or even off my iTunes library

after upgrading to mountain lion, i cannot play any video at all, be it directly off a DVD, or through streaming like youtube, BBC iplayer, love film or even directly off my iTunes library. in each case, all i get is a black screen and no error message.

Hi, i had the same problem and tried this,
Somehow iTunes is tied to Safari. Try this:
Someone mentioned to clear all website data and history in safari, stupid but it was either this or the below that fixed it
    or this,
    Disable Wi-Fi Networking Services
Many users have reported that they’ve solved their issues by disabling Wi-Fi Networking under Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. This only relates to your location being used for Wi-Fi Networking, so it doesn’t disable Wi-Fi entirely.
Please let me know if it works.
