Upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard and final cut express 4 will not work
upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard and final cut express 4 will not launch but my final cut express HD 3.0 version comes up. I reinstall my final cut express 4 upgrade disc and it still will not launch.
Where do I go from here?
You installed from the discs, right?
What happens when you try to launch? What are you doing to launch and what happens you do it? Can't see you computer from here. If you probably need to contact Apple with an installation issue on a new computer.

Mac Pro Dual Core (pre 2009) - Leopard to Snow Leopard and Final Cut Pro 7
I have a pre 2009 Mac Pro running Leopard and Final Cut Pro 6. My question is should I upgrade to Snow Leopard, and Final Cut Pro 7? Both, neither, just one of them... and in what order?
I am afraid of some of the issues people have been discussing (one website even said with a non intel based system neither updates can be done, but I have Intel Xeon processor)
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks kindlyYour macpro will run Snow Leopard and FCut 7 just fine. There are plenty of "whats new in Final Cut Pro" tutorials out there to research and learn whether the new things are useful to you. Snow Leopard...plenty have had issues with it. As always, it's best to have a full mirror backup before you update to Snow Leopard so if you do have problems you can go back easily. I'd definitely move to 10.5.8 if not SLeopard. I have a PCIe card that won't work with SL so I'm holding off till I install a new card. There are still some incompatibilties known so you may want to check Apple's list.

I HAVE A IMAC OS X 10.4.11 IT IS 6 YRS OLD I WENT TO UPGRADE TO SNOW LEOPARD AND A BOX CAME UP THAT TOLD ME I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH MEMORY, NOW WHAT DO I DO TO UPGRADE TO SNOW LEOPARD?
If you are going to upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard, then I recommend doing a clean install. You can backup your current system to an external drive which I strongly recommend, but that has nothing to do with your RAM (memory.) The error refers to the amount of RAM installed in your computer which I'm guessing is only 512 MBs while Snow Leopard requires a minimum of 1 GB. And, I would recommend installing the maximum your model supports which should be at least 2 GBs. This all assumes your iMac is an Intel model.
Open System Profiler in the Utilities folder and report what you see displayed for the Model Identifier.
BTW, please post using mixed case. All upper case is the equivalent of shouting, and it's harder to read than mixed case. -
Upgraded To Snow Leopard And Now The Mic Is Not Working
I upgraded to Snow Leopard, and now my mic input is not woking on my 2 year old MacBook Pro. Can you tell me how to fix it?
Dainis,
Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You haven't provided much information so there is no way for us to trouble shoot your issue. I'm guessing you plugged a mic into the port, if so go to manufacturer of the mic's web site and see if that device is Snow Leopard compatible. Otherwise our hands are tied on how to help you.

Snow leopard and Final Cut Studio 2.0
Snow leopard comes out tomorrow but will Final Cut Studio 2.0 work with it or will I have to upgrade to Final Cut Studio 3.0?
I just opened up a multiclip project in 10.6 (FCS2) that had been created in 10.5.8 (FCS2) and it seems to be working fine if not better. My multiclip playback had been a little choppy and now there isn't any noticeable choppiness.
Before I was using FW800 but my port died last week. Now I'm using USB 2.0 and its working better than the FW800. I suppose my multiclip playback could have been choppy before because the FW800 was on its way out. I guess there might be too many variables to assess any performance increase.
Bottom line is that there are no problems in 10.6 and FCS2. I can't wait to buy the new FCS (3)! -
Snow Leopard and Final Cut Studio Versions
As Snow Leopard (SL) and FCS 3 work only on Intel-Mac, while FCS 2 is universal, I am wondering, if the upgrade to FCS 3 will improve efficiency and speed. FCS 2 still carries the PowerPC code being universal while FCS 3 isn't. Therefore I am wondering (apart from the bells & whistles) if FCS 3 is leaner and more code efficient than FCS 2 and therefore worth the upgrade.
Any comments?
Cheers
HishamFCS 3 does appear to be "leaner" from what I've read. And it was designed to make use of Snow Leopard's new GCD technology which should improve speed as well. I'm pretty sure it works in 64bit on top of that... if this is accurate, you should notice more efficiency. Any other commenters: Please correct me if my facts are wrong.
Hope that helps,

Snow Leopard and Final Cut question.
What happens to all my FCP projects when I install Snow Leopard onto my 24" iMac. I know that's probably not a very educated question, but I'm wondering if anything changes in my FCP projects and settings after I make the upgrade. Also do I need to unistall Leopard, or is that taken care of simultaneously durning the addition of Snow L?
Thank you,

Nothing. They will continue to work as usual.

If you bought the $29 upgrade of SL, it requires that Leo is present. Installing as an upgrade replaces older operating system components and essential software. It does not touch add ons like FCS, iWork, Office etc.
If you bought the SL box set, you can erase the drive and install eveything fresh.
As with any update or upgrade, make sure that your irreplaceable files are backed up first. -
Snow Leopard and Final Cut Studio 3 on a clean system disk - no Pro QT
I have installed Snow Leopard on a clean system disk, together with a Final Cut 7 install. I choosed to install both QTX and QT7.
But, for some reason, I no longer have the Pro versions of QT7 and QTX. I'd like to be able to export to different file formats.
Back in FCS 3, you got the Pro enabled when installing the suite. How can I find a legal registration code for my QT7 and QTX (I guess I could use the same code for both apps)? When installing FCS 3, Quicktime Pro will enable for Qt 7. There's nothing to click or box the check, it's part of the installation of FCS 3. There's no Qt Pro for OSX. Open Qt7 and in it's menu click About Quicktime, the should be a small logo next to the large Qt logo that says Pro. Also in the export window for Qt he export and save menu should not be grayed out.
(When FCS 3 is install there's not registration code for Qt Pro. In the registration code box were you put the registration code for Qt Pro is the word Automatic were the code should be.)

Free upgrade to Mountain Lion didn't download and now my code will not work again!
Okay so I bought a new MacBook Pro on Sunday and as Mountain Lion has only just come out and I have just bought my notebook I qualify for the free upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion. After filling in all the required information I recieved my redeem code and it started to download. After several failed attempts with the same error message of "Hash Mismatch" appearing I finally gave up and left it for a day or so. As I have come on to my laptop today in an attemt to download to update, I have looked everywhere in App Store (purchases, downloads) and Mountain Lion is not anywhere. I have also tried to re enter the codes but it is saying that the codes have already been used etc.
So now I am stuck and do not know what to do and I really dont want to have to pay the money to get Mountain Lion when I should be able to get it for free.
Any help you could give me would be appreciated, even if it is just an apple support number that I could call and get everything sorted out.
Thank you. After you press download, check your Launchpad. The icon will show up with what looks like a white dot where you'd expect to see a progress bar. That white dot actually is the progress bar, as ML is a 4GB download and can take anywhere from 1 to 15 hours, depending on your connection speed. On the average 1.5Mbps economy connection, it will take about 7 hours to download.

Canon HF200 and Final Cut Express 4 - not able to import movie files
Hello,
I have a Canon HF200. I have a 16 GB Duracell "pro photo" flash card. When I first connected my camera to my computer and clicked on "log and transfer" all of the movie clips on my card showed up in FCE 4. I did not import them at this time, however.
Now when I connect the camera, only newer videos taken with the camera show up as importable in FCE. Essentially, while the older videos remain on the card, I cannot access them and import them into FCE.
I am not able to import the files, which are saved as .CPI and .MTS files by simply dragging or using the log and transfer option.
If anyone can help me with this problem and tell me how I can retrieve the movie files I would really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot.Do you own a card reader? Use that instead of the camera to transfer your files. If not, try using disc utility (or toast if you have it) to duplicate the memory card to a disc image (you can burn it to dvd if you want a back up of the original files) and then use the disc image to log and transfer.

I am upgrading to 10.8.3 snow leopard and it has been 3 hours with a white screen - is it supposed to take this long?
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It looks like your MacBook Pro is restarting. Just hold the Power button until your computer turns off, and then turn it on again, so OS X should start properly -
Hi,
I want to install both MAC OS X Snow Leopard and WINDOWS on a same PC. Is it possible..then mention the minimum Hardware support to install both Operating Systems on a PC. I am waiting for relevant reply from Apple Support Team.
Thank You.I am waiting for relevant reply from Apple Support Team.
Then you'll be waiting a long time. This is a user to user support site hosted by Apple. The Apple Support Team doesn't respond to posts here.
For Snow Leopard, you need an Apple computer with an Intel processor of any flavor. Here are the specs from the Apple Store:
System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of memory
5GB of available disk space
DVD drive for installation
You'd have to contact Microsoft to find out what specs its OS requires, but I imagine the above would cover it.
Also note that Snow Leopard is only licensed to run on Apple branded equipment. -
I have updated to snow leopard and I cannot get iPhoto to work or find anywhere to download the appropriate version. I have 8.1.2 but it will not open. What do I need to do?
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

I upgraded from leopard to lion and my Epson printer will not work. I get a error message comunication error. What can Ido to fix this I bought a new USB cord and it did no good.
I suddenly had the same thing happen. I've had my new iMac for 3 months and at first my Epson Artisan 50 worked okay then yesterday I started getting the same error message other people on this support site have gotten. I tried ALL the advice given (deleating the Epson files from the library folder, etc. reinstalling older software) and nothing worked. With the newest iMac (and operating system) you cannot pick and choose which version of Epson software you want. You must use the 10.8 version or it simply will not open when you've downloaded it. Finally I found the comment above by den.thed and tried the OS X Mountain Lion: Reset the printing system suggested. As much as I hated to lose all my printing presets that took a lot of expiermentation to set up, I was desperate. I tried it and it worked. Now I just have to consult my old computer and try to recreate all my printing set ups. So to others with Epson / Apple 10.8 issues this may help when everything else fails. Thanks den.thed for your advice.
