Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • My email icon won't launch Mac OS 10.9.4

Hello, I had this weird problem - my email won't launch, and It did last night. Any ideas ?

Try launching it from the Applications folder. If that works, the Dock alias is corrupt and needs to be replaced. If corrupt, click and hold on the alias and pull away until you get a cloud of smoke. Then drag the application to the Dock to create a new alias.

  • Need Help with iMac 350 - Won't boot - keyboard or mouse not working!

    Hello,
I've scoured the web looking for answers, and can't find any, so maybe someone here would be kind enough to help. I'm working on an imac 350 blueberry for my sister and I'm having all sorts of trouble.
She bought it last week, it started up (8.6 os) no problem. Powered up and down a few times, then all of a sudden, it won't boot. I'm currently getting blinking folder/happymac/question mark when trying to start up.
Here's the big problem - the keyboard and mouse do not work now. I've tried three different mice and three keyboards and no dice with any of them. I have the 8.6 CD from her previous imac (bondi), and I can hear it spinning, but there is no way to start up from cd.
I've also tried 2 other hard drives with the same results.
Tried resetting CUDA on logic board, taking out battery, no change. Bought new battery- no change.
I would love to at least get the keyboard working to see if I can even startup from cd, anyone have any clues on how to get it working? The strange thing is that the keyboard has a power on button, and it works to start the thing up, but dies when it tries to boot. Sometimes I just get a grey screen with the pointer icon, and I can move the pointer with the mouse for a second or two, then no response.
I appreciate any help or suggestions on locating the issues!
    Thank you!

When I said "but dies when it tries to boot" and "..then no response." I meant that the keyboard works to power up the computer, but won't work for anything else. So, I am figuring that the usb ports are supplying power to the keyboard and mouse, but the usb ports aren't relaying information from the keyboard or mouse.
How do you know the mouse isn't working? Won't you have to wait until later in the boot to tell?
The poweron key is a special case. I think that it works by lowering/changing the voltage on one of the usb cables. I read about this somewhere. Anyway, this function was eliminated from later usb keyboards and macs. Maybe a working power button doesn't mean what you think.
I would love to boot into open firmware
Could you try powering up from the machine? Is there a power button on the lower right of the machine?
Have you tried this key combo?
    commandoption+of
The letters are in lower case. Hold all down then poweron the machine. I'd poweron from the machine as apposed to the keyboard.
You could try another usb keyboard.
We actually did boot up the computer several times with it upside down. Not for any reason, except it's become a real PIA to flip it over every two minutes to start it, then take it apart and boot again. When booting either upside down or right side up it shows the same thing - blinking folder w/finder icon and question mark.
Yes, I agree. You could try removing the clear plastic around the bottom of the machine. At least you will not have to slide in the carriage. Note. The tv portion will still be surrounded by plastic! Don't remove the plastic around the tv!
Hope I am not interfering with Richard and his comments.
Richard: Is this the orginal keyboard? When did Apple get rid of the poweron key from the keyboard? My iMac 600 didn't have the key and my iMac 233 does.

  • Final Cut Server 1.5: G5 clients won't launch from icon

So I upgraded my client from FCServer 1.1.1 to 1.5. They have a mix of G5 and Mac Pro stations. The 4 Mac Pros are all working fine after some fiddling and Java cache deleting. The G5s, however, won't run the client launched from the saved icon.
    Scenario:
Access the client download from (IP address)/finalcutserver in a web browser - this works.
The applet downloads and saves - this works.
SOMETIMES it asks where to save the app - sometimes works.
The client app runs, logs in, all working fine - great.
BUT...if you quit and try to relaunch from that icon, it doesn't work. Purged Java caches, emptied the cache in the client, etc. - nothing. Updated from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8, same problem.
The Intel boxes all work, none of the G5s do - seems entirely platform specific.
    -mike

Heh... I solved this... in a manner of speaking. I really appreciate the input from Nicholas, Andy, RadUS, and everyone else, but nothing worked.
Weird. May be actually a Java problem, not a FCSvr problem, maybe something in the Java implementation of 10.5.7 and later. But who knows? No word on this from Apple. There's a surprise.
Here's the solution I ended up with. It's a cop-out I know, but it works!
My solution was to put the Final Cut Server.jnlp file on my desktop and just launch it from there. You can even make it look like the desktop app if you want. Here's how:
First you have to get the Final Cut Server.jnlp file on your desktop. It's not easy to find, because it's located in some weird temp directory somewhere buried in the recesses of the OS. If you don't know where it is, look through your browser's download history and find it. You can always redownload it by going to your server (yourserver.com/finalcutserver) and redownloading it. When you find it, move it to your desktop. Then do a Get Info on both the desktop app and jnlp file. Click on the icon for the app (the tray with the balls) and press Command C to copy the icon. Then click on the jnlp icon (the document with the cup of java) and press Command V to paste the FCSvr desktop app icon to the jnlp. Then check "hide extension" in the jnlp's get info window. Voila. You now have a "fake" desktop app. Yes, it's fake. Get over it! You won't be able to tell a difference. This is the only solution I came up with and I reinstalled Leopard twice.
    Hope this helps others too!

  • IMac gets exclamation mark on wifi icon

    Hi,
My iMac gets an exclamation mark this afternoon saying alert: no internet connection. In network setting it says self-assigned ip.  It worked perfectly before and all of a sudden it just won't connect to the Internet. My MacBook and iPad are able to connect to wifi so definitely some thing is wrong in my iMac. I got the exclamation mark once at school with my MacBook, but the problem seemed to be solve after one class which is 70 mins (I let it sleep and did nothing to it). Ive been trying to fix this problem with my iMac fir the whole afternoon but still get this exclamation mark.
I've tried: a. Turn off and on wifi.  B. Trying to delete plist files in library but I couldn't find them.  C. Renew DHCP lease  d. Create new location.  E. Restart
But no use. Any help?? Thanks in advance.

Would love to know this answer as well.  I have a MacBook pro and am staying at my daughters house. Last night I got on the Internet by typing in her password, but tonight I can't, however I am using my iPad.  How can I get a connection on one but not the other.  Very frustrating since my iPad won't open the connections I need to work on since they require flash.  Would love to know how to fix this problem.
A simple restart has solved it for me on the few occasions it has happened.

  • Phone won't launch from Icon

    iOS 4 on a 32gb 3gs phone.
Touch the phone icon - and it starts to launch and ends.
Cure: Double tap home, choose phone from the list of running aps and END IT.
    Then it launches OK.
This is a flaw in iOS4. The multi-tasking leaves apps in the "running" state for fast task switching FOREVER and doesn't provide a way to quickly end them all. I should not have to manually go in there every little while and end apps.

Well, your experience is not the way things work. Try a reset to see if it fixes your issue:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release(ignore the slide to power off).

  • After upgrading to Itunes 7.2, it won't launch without crashing

Itunes was working fine on my pc. When I opened it, it prompted me to install an updated version of Itunes and Quicktimes. I followed the prompts and installed it. After it installed, I launched Itunes and it crashed with "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I sent the report to Microsoft, without any results.
In my application event log, I see 2 events:
Faulting application itunes.exe, version 7.2.0.34, faulting module itunes.exe, version 7.2.0.34, fault address 0x00a33ac0.
    Fault bucket 438926550.

I've just upgraded to Lion and now Mail won't launch.  It appears in the title bar but doesn't launch, it also won't quit.  Any ideas?  I'm worried about losing all my mail.

I had the same problem, and tried recommendations that were posted on other threads. It finally occurred to me that I should try signing out and back in on the Mobile Me system preference and it worked. Hope this helps...

  • Aperture won't launch on 15" Retina MBP

I recently moved to a Retina 15" MacbookPro. Installed Aperture (app store), and it worked fine with Lion. Upgraded to ML, and now Aperture won't launch. I read the thread having to do with a conflict with Final Cut Express. That's not me. No FCE (or and Final Cut apps) loaded on this machine.
I've removed all existing Aperture libraries (to force the creation of a new library on launch).
I've re-downloaded Aperture from the app store, to make sure I have a nice clean version.
    It won't launch.
Anyone else out there having this problem?
I suppose I could try re-installing OSX 10.8, but that seems extreme.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

More info. Some good. Some not so.
Right-clicked iPhoto library in finder and chose Aperture as app to luanch, and Aperture opened it right up.
Tried switching to an Aperture library. Crash.
    Repeated launch of iPhoto library.
Tried creating new Aperture library. Crash.
Right-clicked an Aperture library and chose Aperture as app to open, and Aperture opened it up (I think I'd tried this prior to posting, without success, but can't be 100% sure of that)
At any rate, the library I want is now open, so I should just go get some work done, but I'd appreciate any insights into what might be going on.
    Thanks,

  • Flash Builder won't launch

Hi.  I am trying to troubleshoot something using Flash Builder and it won't launch.  I get an error message at startup that there is a log file I should look at, which, of course, I can't really interpret since I don't know too much about how FB functions.  This happens in 4.0 and 4.5 as well.

Now I am getting the error code of 16 and to reinstall the product.  I reinstalled FB 4.5 and it still won't launch.  I do not know what to do and cannot get through to anyone in support and I'm not given the option to chat to anyone at Adobe through the support portal.
Can anyone help me so that Flash Builder will launch again?
