Upgraded to new iTunes....now will not launch

Question

Hello all.
this AM I upgraded to the new version of iTunes. Big mistake. Now the silly thing won't even open...no error message, no nothing--just an hourglass and then nada.
So, I read around on the boards and tried the Quicktime install as a standalone...but that does not appear to have worked.
I don't have norton (do have McAfee), so am wondering what do I do next. I am very sad. Please help if you can.

I have same problem you have. Every time I launch
iTunes the licensing agreement pops up, I click agree
and it start the music libary page. There it hangs up
and is unresponsive.
no, i think that's a different problem, Caffrey. i'm
thinking tipsnowflake isn't seeing any kind of
screen. just nothing after the hourglass.
with your one, let's start checking to see if there's
something amiss with your itunes preference files.
let's first try an experiment. (this is a diagnostic
test, rather than a cure.)
head into your user accounts control panel and
create a new user account with full administrative
rights. (there's help documentation on how to do
that at the left of the control panel screen.) while
you're in that control panel, switch off "fast user
switching" in your logging-on preferences.
now log out of the old account and log into
the new account.
does itunes launch properly (and not freeze on the
library screen) from inside the new account?
No, still freezes at the same spot. Right after I clikc agree to the licensuing agreement. The library come up and then nothing, unresponsive. Have to use task manager to end the program.
