Upgraded to OSX 10.6.3 and iTunes 10.6.1 will not recognize iPads

I recently upgraded to 10.6.3 and after completing the set up iTunes no longer recognizes either iPad devices.  One iPad runs 5.1 and the other runs 4.3.3.  However, my older iPods are recognized.  Does anyone have experience with this situation and a solution?  My intent is to further upgrade the OSX to Lion.  Should I upgrade now and see if the issue is resolved or work the issue in the current OSX and then upgrade again after?
Thank you.

I completed the upgrade to 10.6.8 and still cannot seem to get iTunes to 1) Open when any device is plugged in 2) Recognize the 2 iPads or iPod Touch.  I will recognize an older iPod Nano and a newer Nano.
When iPad 5.1 is plugged in PhotoShop opens.  Any suggestions?

I just upgraded to Lion 10.7.2 and it says that it will not support Power PC programs and has blanked out my 2008 version of MS Office for Mac and Intuit's Quickbooks.  How do I proceed to get these programs back?

Upgrade to newer versions compatible with Lion or downgrade to Snow Leopard:
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • ITunes 11.1.4 will not recognize iPhone, iPad after Dell BIOS update

I suspect the problems everyone is having are related to the BIOS.  I am running a Dell XPS i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz 3.4 GHz with 24 GB RAM, 64 bit OS x64 based processor.  OS is Windows 8.1
I just updated my BIOS as suggested by Dell.  Now iTunes 11.1.4 will not recognize my iPhone or iPad.
My computer accesses the iPhone or iPad, but iTunes does not recognize them.
This was not a problem prior to updating BIOS.
Is there a fix or patch?
I have to sync my devices for work.
Please no baby-steps replies.  Have tried everything including removing devices from device manager and reconnecting to force driver update and try to force iTunes recognition.  None of that works.
    Thanks!

Here is the fix from Waldo-E3 elsewhere in this forum.
Like I said, no baby steps answers please!
    Kudos to Waldo-E3!
      RESOLVED...
Found these steps posted elsewhere by another and the solution worked for me...
    1. Go to Windows 8.1 Control Panel.
    2. Go to Hardware and Sound; Devices and Printers; Unspecified (look for Apple Mobile Device USB Driver)
    3. Right-click, then select properties on the menu list.
    4. Select the "Hardware" tab at the top  When the properties dialog box opens, once more select properties on the lower right hand button.
    5. Under the "Driver" tab menu, the update driver button will be grey and unselectable here. So you need to select and click "Change Settings" button located near the lower left corner.
    6. Now you can click the "Driver" tab menu near the top, so you can see the "Update Driver" button.
    7. Select "Update Driver".
    8. Select and click "Browse my computer for driver software".
    9. For Windows 8.1 64 bit, it should be located in the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
    10. Click Next, and let the driver re-install.
    11. iTunes  11.1.4.62 should open automatically if your iphone is connected already

    If 10.7.0 or later...

If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • My ipad will not turn on/charge, itunes will not recognize ipad, has been charging for hours power and sleep button did not work

My ipad will not turn on/charge. has been charging for hours. Itunes will not recognize it and i have tried the power/sleep button as well. PLEASE HELP!

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If it hasn't been, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Itunes will not recognize ipad mini

Itunes will recognize and sync with my iphone, but will not recognize and sync with my ipad mini.

Did you just recently update iTunes? And are you using windows?
If so, try going into the control panel, add/remove programs, uninstall iTunes, apple mobile device support and apple application support. Then download and reinstall iTunes and see if that works.
If you're using a mac then it may be something else.

  • ITunes 11.1.3 will not recognize Ipad1

My Ipad 1 is working perfectly and my computer with Windows 8.1 recognizes it when I connect it through the USB port. However, since ITunes was updated to 11.1.2 and now with 11.1.3, ITunes will not recognize my Ipad and I am unable to sync anything. I checked the Ipad and the software is updated. I tried rebooting it as well as the computer, but nothing has worked.
I do hope this is not a way to force me to buy a new Ipad. Lord knows Apple is brilliant with planned obsolesence, but this would be taking it way too far.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • ITunes 11 wifi sync will not recognize my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 running iOS 6

Since I upgraded to iTunes 11, iTunes no longer recognizes my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 (both running iOS 6.0.1) as active devices for the purposes of wifi sync.  It does, however, recognize my iPad 1 running iOS 5.  The only way I can sync my iPad 2 or iPhone 4 is to attach the USB cable.
The older version of iTunes 10 started exhibiting this behavior when iOS 6 was released, but I was able to get iTunes to recognize the devices by powering them off and then back on.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?  Some advice from Apple would be appreciated.

Guys, I just performed the Itunes update and experienced the same (honestly I was expecting it),
My sollution was, clear up caches on both iPad 2 and  iTunes.
Exactly what I did was the following:
    1. Update iTunes.
    2. Deactivate the home sharing on iTunes.
    3. Disconect iPad from home sharing.
    4. On iTunes>Preferences>Devices "Allow" the automatic sync for iPod, iPhone & iPad
    5. Click on the button labeled "restart synchronization historical" (sorry, don't know how the button looks in English, mine is in Spanish)
    6. Click Ok
    7. To clear up iPad's caché I force reset the device by pressing and hold both buttons on the device (front and top)
    8. Activate the home sharing on both devices again and voilá... there is my full blues collection again!
Maybe for some people it will work this way just fine and for others by doing in a different order, after all for what I see is a caché issue.
Let me know if it was of any help, I'm more PC than mac but network issues are the same and I'm more than glad to help and learn any time.

  • I upgraded to OS X10.9.4 and now my Cannon scanner will not work. I downloaded the new driver and still no luck.

I upgraded to OS X10.9.4 and now my Cannon MX 860 scanner will not work. The printer works. I downloaded the new driver and still no luck. Please help!

Open Print & Scan preferences. Select the printer in the sidebar list and click on the Delete [-] button. CTRL- or RIGHT-click in the sidebar area and select Reset Print System from the context menu. Re-Add the printer by clicking on the Add [+] button, select your printer from the little browser that opens, select the proper driver if it isn't set automatically, then click on the Add button. See if it now works.
Oh, be sure you install the new driver you downloaded.
BTW, you don't have a PowerMac as shown in your profile. PowerMacs were tower machines that ran PPC processors, not Intel processors. You really should correct that information in your profile.

however iPod still works fine on an XP machine.  Our iPad is also working fine on the Windows 7 machine, including in iTunes.  The Windows 7 machine says the disk needs to be reformatted whenever I plugin the iPod.
I have tried all of the possible fixes I have been able to find on the web, but to no avail. Does not appear to be a USB issue.  Have reinstalled iTunes on multiple occasions, and restored the iPod multiple times.  Have tried disk mode.
Is there anything out there that I'm missing?  Thanks!

  • Update 2.2 and iTunes 8.02 - Now will not sync calendar

I have been one of these people who have watched the past updates with everyone having problems and flew through without any issues... this one has been a little different.
When I updated iTunes and my iPhone on Friday I kept loosing my USB connection to the iPhone during the update which really screwed things up. I thought I had bricked my phone until I hooked it up to my iMac and was able to do a restore and then the update.
NOW... when I hook it up to my laptop and try to sync it just sets there. I did not do anything different than I have in the past... not sure what is going on.
    Any thoughts???
    Thanks,
    Ronnie

Whoa... by no means did I mean anything derogatory... not by a long shot. I simply meant that I have not experienced some of the issues that others have when they updated iTunes or my iPhone. Nothing more and nothing less.
Up to this point it has been a fairly straight forward process.. My laptop is an HP running XP Pro and yes it does have (2) USB ports. What I have done is completely remove iTunes and anything related to Apple. Reloaded and it connects and backups without issue... I just timed it and it took 15 minutes to attempt to sync my calendar... this took less than 30 seconds before the update to both iTunes and 2.2. I cancelled the sync because it was attempting to change, or it states, more than 5% of my Exchange calendar.
    Any thoughts?
