Upgraded to Quicktime 7 to utilize iWorks; bad news

I purchased iWorks to make interactive presentations. It requires Quicktime 7. Downloaded and installed Quicktime 7.
It doesn't load; nor does iTunes, nor any other software program I have that needs Quicktime (Bias audio editing software, ProTools audio software, etc.)
I did not purchased Quicktime 7PRO. I didn't think I had to.
Is this a common problem? Do I have to upgrade to OS X10.4?
This is the most difficult time I've ever had with an installation.
Thanks for your attention.

QuickTime 7 works without issue on both 10.3.9 and
any flavor of Tiger.
Your trouble is the conflict with out of date
ProTools software and QuickTime. It has nothing to do
with 10.3.9.
I appreciate your attention. However, I'm sorry I mentioned Protools, because I can actually get it to run. It seems to be the least affected.
iTunes: no work
QuickTime7: no work
Bias Peak Pro 5: no work
Thanks

  • How do I upgrade to QuickTime 7.5.5

Just installed a new HD in my G5 and loaded OS X Leopard. I am unable to use iTunes because I cannot upgrade my QuickTime from 7.2 to 7.5.5. Anybody know why? I am running two HD's on the G5 tower and even though the other HD is running very slow, I cab use the iTunes just fine.

Try installing a QuickTime 7.7 for Leopard using a .dmg installer downloaded from the Apple website:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL761

How can I do to solve the problem?
Please check my config before replying and only reply if you are 1000% sure of your solution.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Steve

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, 3.1, QT 7.3 or 7.4 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5.2, but please see my footnote).
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.11 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
The new RealPlayer Plus (v.11) is still in beta and therefore free, but works well on both Tiger and Leopard. It includes a download function, and you can get that here:
    http://uk.real.com/player/mac/
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS, but please see my footnote if you are running Leopard.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed all the correct version for your Mac of Security Updates up to and including 2008-002. (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.
And now there is an additional kid on the block: SilverLight. Microsoft has created their own version of what a replacement for Flash should be. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards):
    http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/
    FOOTNOTE
    If you are running Leopard:
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player (v.9.0.115.0) conflicts with Leopard, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1

  • ITunes 5 forces upgrade to QuickTime 7--Can't use Pro anymor

So I finally got the courage to upgrade to iTunes 5 after all the hoolabaloo.
It forced me to upgrade to QuickTime 7, but I have a registered version of QuickTime 6.5 pro, which I love using.
So it appears that in order to use iTunes 5 Apple is forcing me to cough up another $30 to upgrade my privileges with QuickTime 7. Is this going to happen everytime iTunes upgrades?
    I feel betrayed.

If you still have an authorized copy of you previous QuickTime 6 Pro Player that will still work under QuickTime 7 with all of its pro features still enabled. So, if you had a backup you could just do a drag install of the old player onto your new QuickTime 7 system.
If you don't have a copy of your old player then you could use the QuickTime 6 reinstaller and reauthorized your player, make a copy of same (outside of the Application directory), then reinstall QuickTime 7.

  • What is the most recent upgrade for Quicktime player for Mac OX 10.7.5

I have iOS 10.7.5 on my iMac.  Recently my quicktime player won't play a slideshow created in Quicktime.
Can I upgrade my quicktime player application? If so, how?
    Thank you.  Mrs. D

It is installed along with OS X. The current version is 10.3 and is part of Yosemite.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite- System Requirements

If his Gmail account is under the Gmail app and press the app until it wiggles then press the extra deleted. If this account is under the Apple email and then you can go to Settings, mail contacts calendars and then select the account and remove it.

  • PC crashing after upgrade to Quicktime 7

    Win XP home edit SP2
.MOV files played satisfactorily on Quicktime 6 but after I upgraded to Quicktime 7 the system would crash (blue screen) on attemting to open any .MOV file. The crash message was KERNAL STACK INPAGE ERROR STOP: 0x00000077. AVI files would play OK in Win Media Player or Real Player but with QT7 resulted in another fatal crash "A processor or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or terminated" STOP: 0x00000F4.
QT7 was unistalled and reinstalled twice (the second time checking the registry for remnants before re-installing) but there was no change. Finally I tried unistalling QT7 and installing Quicktime Alternative - again still the same crashes. A month was spent discussing this on Windows Forums. Finally I found an old download of QT 6 so I unistalled QT7 and installed QT6. It works perfectly again.
I have learned one lesson. Always create system restore points before upgrading and be prepared to restore back if the upgrade gives trouble. XP Restore back does not touch data or emails - just systems.
Has anyone else experienced the same difficulty with QT7 in Windows XP?
    Nigel

Please could you explain how minidumps are collected? All I did was run dxdiage.exe after one crash and I have saved the text output.
okay, if you're interested in trying an upgrade again, let's set up the PC to collect minidumps. then, if the blue screen hits you again, we can send through a minidump to the Apple engineers for a look.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
collect the minidump, and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of QuickTime you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • I have recently upgraded from my iphone 5 to a new phone. My iphone 5 's touch screen does not work anymore. I need to backup my phone, but I can't do it on itunes without my password. Everything besides screen is ok. Is there a way around it? :(

I have recently upgraded from my iphone 5 to a new phone. My iphone 5 's touch screen does not work anymore. I need to backup my phone, but I can't do it on itunes without my password. Everything besides the screen is completely fine-the screen will not recognize my finger anymore. I am not trying to fix the phone, but I need to have my contacts. The pictures have already synced, but I need my password to do a full backup. Unfortunately, I can't type in my password. Is there any way around it? If I take my phone to the apple store, will they be able to help me? I am not willing to replace the screen just to do this, however, so that is out of the question.

Someone else may have a workaround, but, as far as I know, if you cannot interact with the screen on the iPhone, there is no way to unlock it so you can get to your contacts.
Were you saving them to iCloud by chance? If so, you can restore them to your new phone.

I just upgraded from my 2008 MacBook to a new Macbook Pro. How do I get my time capsule to work on my new MacBook? I did data migration, but the time capsule did not pick it up. Any ideas?

If you migrated all the info from time machine to your new MBP. The TM will usually ask to connect to the old backups.. sorry I am not sure is this what you want to do.. Personally I think you start a fresh backup.
BTW Time Capsule does not do anything.. it is a dumb hard disk in a box.. it is TM that does everything.
Look at B5 and B6 here about connecting to your backup.

  • I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw.  However, it will not download from the  "Update" option in CS6.

I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw  (I was told that the Camera Raw update 8.3, which is available for CS6, included this camera).  However, it will not download from the  "Update" option in CS6.  I have tried over 10 times - it just says update is not working. and I cannot find an alternate way of downloading this file. So I still can use my camera, even thought I paid to upgrade.  HELP please.

What OS do you have?  You say you have explained what you had (computer/opsys) but I honestly don't see it here.  If you had mentioned that my advice would have been different; I believe you can only upgrade as far as Camera Raw 8.3 on an older Windows system.  There is more information here (look specifically for the "Revert to 8.3 ..." titles).
Adobe Camera Raw Help | Camera Raw/DNG Converter 8.4 on Mac OS 10.6, Windows XP, and Vista
What you've done/written in your last post confuses things further, unfortunately.  Photoshop 13.1 is strictly a Creative Cloud version.  The highest you can go is Photoshop CS6 13.0.1.3 with perpetual license.
And as far as I can recall, that version can work on Windows back to XP:
    System requirements | Photoshop
I don't think you're out of luck, but you seem to be leaping into doing things without having the full story, and are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.
Here's what I suggest you try:
    1.  Remove Photoshop entirely with the Creative Suite Removal Tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    2.  Install Photoshop CS6 from your original media or from here:
    Download CS6 products
    3.  Update the application using its own Help - Updates process.  That really should get you the latest Camera Raw version that will work.  If that does not bring you a Camera Raw that works with your Nikon, use the "Revert to 8.3" instructions above.
