Upgraded to Snow Leopard - DVD Studio not working

Hi,
Well I reinstalled it after the upgrade. The icon buttons are missing from the top (like "Build & Format", etc.). Also when I use the B&F from the menu it doesn't see the Pioneer DVD Drive - I can only save to the hard drive.
What's going on? It was working just fine before the upgrade. I need this to work now so I can get projects completed.

What version of DVD Studio Pro do you have?
It was working just fine before the upgrade.
Which begs the question, why did you change it?
Revert to the cloned backup of your previous system and troubleshoot/research what you need to do to have it work with a new Mac OS, like upgrading the FCS software, updating capture card drivers etc when you are not in the middle of projects.

  • After upgrade to Snow Leopard, Time Machine not working

    Hi all,
About two days ago I upgraded my MacBook 4.1 to Snow Leopard.
Now Time Machine cannot backup to my external HDD anymore. One error message stated that it would not fine the settings file.
    Please help.
What do I need to do to get my backups working again?
    Thank you

Pondini - I have an issue too. And so I went to the troubleshooting tips you listed here and was not able to find a solution. Specifically, I don't get a message. I plain ole don't get nothing. After I installed Snow my first backup failed. Funny thing is the backup on my wifes computer also failed. She does not have an Intel Mac. It's a PowerBook G4. Hence no Snow Leopard there. I have a iMac 24 Aluminum. My Time Capsule backup worked fine until Snow. My TC is wired via ethernet. There is no latest date. When Time Machine backup starts the TM preference pane says it's "Making disk available" Something to that effect. And that's where it stays. If I then try to do anything with the preference panel - like close it - I find out the Preferences are not responding. So I force quit. I try to stop Time Machine backups and it's no good. The TM indicator - that little backwards running clock - in the menu bar just keeps on it's merry little way. The only way to stop it - shutdown. Strange thing is shutdown then refuses to - well, shutdown. I end up having to hold the power button for 5 seconds. I don't get error messages. I get nothing indicating what may be causing this problem. I have been searching these and other forums looking for an answer. I had hoped the user tips you listed would have a solution, but, alas, no. I deleted the timemachine plist in the "higher" library. No luck. I have powered down everything. No luck. Those were two ideas I saw that said they worked. So where do I go from here? Where do I look for error messages that will point me in the right direction? I'd appreciate any help from anybody.

    Christy,
Whats the version of your seeburger and whats the SP level of your PI 7.1
Just check the seeburger  compatability matrix and see whats the supported seeburger version for PI 7.1 (your SP level).
We recently installed PI 7.1 SP 07 and the compatabile seeburger version was 2.1.0
for PI 7.1 SP 08 the compatabile seeburger version was 2.1.3
SAPNote 890721 is the seeburger compatability note , but SAP is currently updating it.
You can send a message to SAP and ask for the complete compatability matrix , they would be able to provide you.
    Hope it helps ,

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, Mail will not let me archive any mail. All archived messages re-appear in my inbox (I have tried archiving and placing in the trash bin). How do i regain control of my inbox?

The main differences that can cause a problem are scripting additions (64-bit vs 32-bit and security reasons) and the usage of dates (it is not as forgiving). AppleScript itself is basically the same, so if empty paragraphs are what caused your problems the update would have just been a coincidence.

Stick the 10.6 disk into the machine and reboot holding the option/alt key down on a wired/built in keyboard.
On the second screen, under the Utilities menu is a Password Reset, use it.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
What this will do is reset the password and the user account permissions in the process.
You might have problems with Keychain afterwards, to fix that.

  • Snow Leopard: Display settings not working anymore. DO NOT LOCALIZE

    Hello,
the following message was posted in the MacBook Pro Display forums and i was suggested to write it here:
I purchased a MacBox Set and upgraded from Tiger on a MacBook Pro 15" (2007). I did a clean install. That was two weeks ago.
Today i went into System Preferences>Displays (not my first time there) and a window oppened by itself saying that the display setting was about to be changed and maybe certain software would not be showed properly in a resolution below 800X600 (sorry, that's my translation. I use a Spanish SO).
After that, the resolution changed to 640X480 and the Display panel became useless. It's impossible to set any other resolution and on the refresh settins apears that message: <<do not localize>>. Under the Resolutions Field appears <<<DO NOT LOCALIZE>>> as well.
    I tryed:
    * Repair disk Permissions
    * Reset PRAM
    * Reset PMU
    * I did a hardware test (the long one). No problems found.
I was not able to use the system disks (the ones that came with my computer) because the image on the screen appears completly distorted and i am not able to navigate through the menus. I was able to use Hardware Test because the buttons where showed in the middle of the screen.
I tryed to use the Snow Leopard DVD, but the part of the welcome window in wich the buttons are was out of the screen and i had no chance to click on them.
I have temporarily fixed that using a ten days trial version of SwitchRes X. Everything works fine now, but the Display preferences panel from MacOs stays "in coma". So i guess it's not a hardware problem, but a Snow Leopard Problem. If in ten days i don't find a fix for that, i'm gonna be forced to buy the program, a really good software, i have to say, but a software i shoulnd't need.
After been able to recover my original resolution via SwitchRes X, I checked the disk and it was ok. I repaired it anyway. Back to my desktop, i checked the permisions and everything was fine except for this message:
"Advertencia: el archivo SUID “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgen t” se ha modificado y no se reparará."
I got this message since the first time i checked permissions and its well know by other users. It is supposed to be normal.
    Anyway, it didn't worked.
    I'll appreciate any help. Thanks!

"I was not able to use the system disks 'cos the image on the screen appears completly distorted and i am not able to navigate the menus."
Never ran across that type of problem on Apple's message boards.
"I have temporarily fixed that using a ten days trial version of SwitchRes X. Everything works fine now but the Display preferences panel from MacOs, wich stays "in coma"."
In that case, are you now able to boot off your install DVD? If so, run the +"repair disk"+ option, when done boot back to desktop & run repair permissions.
"So i guess it's not a hardware problem, but a Snow Leopard Problem."

  • Aperture 2.1.4 with Snow Leopard Filmstrip Slider Not Working

    Hi all,
Not sure which one caused the problem the upgrade to Snow Leopard or Aperture 2.1.4 but here is my issue.
In Browser and Viewer mode with the browser set to Filmstrip I am not able to use either the arrows or the slider to scroll through the images in my projects. Sliding the bar over to the left or right just resets back to where it was. Click on the arrows to scroll left or right does nothing. If I switch to Grid orList view they work as expected. Anyone else seeing this issue ?? Thanks

Updated to snow leopard and had the same problem that when the thumbnails where placed on the bottom I could only scroll left or right when no picture was marked... so I placed the thumbnails to the left side and scrolling worked normally even with a a marked picture...I also had bad color sync problems and switching screens would cause my windows to become almost black and unreadable..... I reinstalled my Leopard clone drive shortly there after... oh well... it took a while before leopard was ready for professional use.... I didn't really expect Snow leopard to be different... I will check back in at 10.6.4 or so LOL

  • Snow leopard dvd doesn't work

I bought snow leopard DVD but it seems corrupted. I put inside the Mac and it spit it out immediately. (I tried both sides ... :-) ... many times).
Other CDs and DVDs works fine.
My question is: since I have an original version and a serial number printed somewhere (I hope) on the Disk or on the package, is there a place where download the Mac OS Snow Leopard from?
    I have Mac OS X 10.5.8
3.06 Ghz Intel Core Duo processor
    2 GB 800 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM

No, you can't download Snow Leopard.  You'll need to contact Apple and they will replace the disk.

  • I cannot upgrade my iMac 2009 to snow leopard (it was deleted by mistake) now is running 10.5.8, the snow leopard dvd is not installing and the computer keeps crashing..If anyone have an answer, PLEASE Help me.

I have a 2009 iMac 4,1  2GHz intel Core duo it says here I have 1GB of memory. I had it running on snow leopard 10.6.8 I still have the SN software that i bought to made the upgrade. Had some guest staying at my place and they deleted the running os and a lot of files and stuff..., now is running on leopard 10.5.8 and it's giving me a lot of problems because is soo obsolete, also hte computer is crashing all the time and every time I try ti install the SL dvd, the computer won't read the dvd and I'm keeps booting me off. Is not getting better at all and now when I restart the iMac before I get the grey apple screen, the folder of death icon flashes, (I already lost my Macbookpro due this situation. What can I do to resolve this aggravating and frustrating Issue. Need help now ..Please

Before we get too far, please clarify this part:
    I have a 2009 iMac 4,1
A 2009 iMac cannot be an iMac 4,1; they are 9,1 and higher. Did you mean to type "2006?" That would be an iMac 4,1. We need to pin down the model issue before proceeding.
It could be the drive, not the disk, that is dirty. Try a drive cleaning disk, usually about US$5-15 at home entertainment, electronics stores and office superstores

  • 10.4.11 upgrading to Snow Leopard - DVD won't load

    Hello fellow users,
I could use a bit of help updating my macbook from 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard. I have 10.4.11 and i'm updating to 10.6, Snow Leopard. I've already checked basic requirements, backed up and i'm ready to install...
I chatted with a apple specialist when I purchased the dvd for snow leopard and asked if it was what i needed to upgrade all three of my macs; 2 running 10.5.8 and one running 10.4.11. They said yes. I had no trouble updating the machines running 10.5.8.
But the one running 10.4.11 isn't so easy. The trouble is the install DVD will not boot and just shuts down the hard drives (the machine says 'restartto begin install' but when i restart the dvd spits out on restart). Does anyone know how to get the disk to install? Mounting the disk didnt work either, it allows me to begin the installation but then the machine reboots.
I'd done some research previously and was told by Apple that i needed to get the Box Set in order to upgrade my machine running 10.4.11. However according to apple's support forums (http://store.apple.com/us/question/answers/product/MC574Z/A?pqid=QH49CCDXJ9DA24K TKTDPCKYKUDDDXKHTK) the Snow Leopard upgrade should work. I just don't know if there are special steps.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

@ BDAqua > I tried your suggestion but no luck. holding opt+command just gave me a blue screen and it rebotted, pushing the disk out of the drive. Yes, the macbook has 1 gb of ram. I realize that the min req. call for 2 gb of ram so i've got an order in for another dimm to put into the machine. Thanks for your suggestions.
@ a_brody > Yes. The machine was plugged into a power source. The disk promts you to do that and i recall aspect this form other installs. Thanks for the reminder tho! ( btw your second post is like greek to me man!)
@ Kuncklesmac > You're right about Snow Leopard being an upgrade from Leopard. I'm aware of this. And yes previously i've been told by Apple that I needed the Box Set (not the family pack.  i am using the family pack for OS Snow Leopard) to upgrade my 10.4.11 mac - they never mentioned adding ram but i figured that out on my own and an apple specialist recommended it when i purchased Snow Leopard and confirmed that I coul duse the Snow Leopard to upgarde from Tiger (10.4.11). I've also read extensively (as i said above) that it isn't necessary (always) to buy the box set. Several 10.4.11 users report having upgraded using the Snow Leopard upgrade disk only (not the Box Set) without trouble on intel macs (also see the apple link i posted). So i'm just ondering how they did it and i cannot.
    Thanks fo rall yor help!

  • Can't update to OSX Snow Leopard - CD drive not working

Ok so I purchased Snow Leopard to upgrade my 09 Macbook with Intel Processor. However, my disk drive is not reading disks for some reason so it wont read the disk or any other. I've tried downloading the file and running it, but it tells me that I have to do it from a disk. I can't seem to find a workaround to not having a disk, yet my computer won't read any.
Is there anything I can do or should I shell out the cash for my disk drive to get repaired? Any help would be much appreciated!

If you have access to another computer you can make an ISO/Disc Image using Disk Utility and transfer that to your computer using a portable drive or storage device with large enough capacity. Once that Disc Image is copied to your Desktop you click on it and it behaves exactly like it is a DVD in your drive.  It appears in Finder like a hard drive or a DVD. OS X will respond to it accordingly. I have installed huge multiple disc programs in what seems like 10% of the time because DVD drives are relatively slow compared to something immediately accessible on your system drive. When you would have to eject and insert the next disc the Installer automatically sees the next Disc Image (when you have a series of installation discs) so it can all be performed in a single uninterrupted process.

  • Snow Leopard and Appleworks not working well together ...

Still a dedicated fan of Appleworks mostly because I use the vector drawing program for my design business. But, even though it works in OSX.6, it is much changed. The drag-drop images from web sites print out in dot-matrix quality. Every clicked on object becomes a "grouped picture". Therefore the object has to be ungrouped and then regrouped. The resize and rotate tools don't work. If there were other great drawing programs out there I would consider them, but I am considering going back to OSX.5. Also finding that some web sites don't like OSX.6 with Safari and my HP printers have terrible quality now and HP will not support Snow Leopard and older printers. Any other Appleworks users having problems? Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Whenever you do an update, it's a good idea to do two maintenance tasks, one for the system (Repair Permissions) and one for AppleWorks (delete preferences). (Thanks to Barry for this way to format this very common answer.)
To Repair permissions, launch Disk Utility, found in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder, click on First Aid, then on Repair Permissions.
To delete AppleWorks’ preference files, go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences. Find and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist. Find and open the folder AppleWorks in this Preferences folder, then delete all of the enclosed files (with the exception of the Button Bar Preferences if you have customized the Button Bars). AppleWorks will recreate the preference files as it needs them. You should also do this every time AppleWorks crashes as each crash will cause some corruption of the preferences. This may fix the resize & rotate issues.
AppleWorks changes the resolution of all graphic formats except PICT to 72 dpi. There are a couple of things you can do improve the print quality of images.
    1. Turn on Fractional Character widths in Preferences > General > Topic: Text. This is a text setting, but it does improve the print quality of images.
    2. Open the image in Preview or GraphicConverter & Save As... a PICT to use in AppleWorks.
PICT is generally the best format to use for inserting or pasting into AppleWorks. I find the resulting graphic can be resized somewhat & the resulting saved AW file is much smaller than if using JPEG or TIFF.
