Upgraded to Tiger ad OS 9 won't start up

I need somebody's help. I upgraded to Tiger from Panter and now my OS 9 won't start up and I need it badly!!!
Do I need to update to 10.4.7??
Help please

Did you select to erase the hard drive during the upgrade? If so, you will need to reinstall OS 9.

Just upgraded to firefox 4 and it won't start but it says it's running.

I just recently upgraded to firefox 4 and it won't work. I was enjoying the lastest update on firefox 3 and it was working fine, but when i upgraded to 4, the problems started. Every time i click on the icon, the mouse turns into the loading wheel for a few seconds and then goes back, but firefox doesn't load up. Nothing happens. I have tried restarting the computer, but that does nothing. I then tried uninstalling it, but it says firefox is still running so it can't uninstall. Even after restarting my computer, it still says it's running. I have tried everything, but it just won't start, and I can't do anything because it claims to still be running.

I just had a similar problem and it reminded me of trying to install a logitech wireless mouse a while back. Nothing I could do to make it recognize the driver... until I ran across a website that told me that antivirus and firewalls might prevent it. So... AVG Free just updated itself earlier today... FF4 would only startup once after reboot, then start and show in task mgr but no window(s)... Uninstalled AVG new version. FF4 starts up every time. Reinstalled older version of AVG Free and now everything seems to be OK again. Hope this helps!

HT4623 iOS upgrade has killed my iPad, it won't start anymore.

I just accepted the iOS 7.0.2 upgrade and my iPad has died. All I get is an iTunes logo mid screen with plug/lead graphic and an arrow pointing to the logo.
I've tried all the buttons and even tried a reset, holding both down for 10 seconds, but it's as dead as a Dodo. I'm really wishing I hadn't agreed to this upgrade, can anyone help please?

I know the symbol means it's required for the upgrade to complete it needs to be hooked into iTunes to have it send off information. The computer must be connected to the internet and upon seeing that symbol the iPad has to be connected to the computer. If that doesn't work what I was honestly do is set the iPad down and let it kill its own battery and then the next day plug it in to the computer and listen to it for the sound of a connected device and let it power itself on. If those don't work then you will have to take it to an Apple Store to have it unlocked.
@Custom17 I would have been able to answer that for you, or at least give you the same answer they're going to give you. The reason it "jumps" all over the place has to do with the spatial effects built into the iOS. When the lockscreen is on and you tilt the phone you should see the lockscreen moving (I found the factory "Starry Sky" lock screen is the best example of this. The operating system works with layers building on it so it can manage the different applications going, think wedding cake, so something happening in the background or a wallpaper that doesn't agree with the OS is going to cause little jerks like that. The black square can also be attributed to this, and both issues should be fixed quickly we all hope.

Tiger Help Needed Badly - won't start

Please can someone help.
My macbook has died!
I was restarting the computer because there was an update and the mac told me too. And then in the middle of restarting it froze. I tried everything (held down the start key, tried it with the option button held down too, reset the battery - the works) but all I get is a black screen. I went searching for my system disc to do the repair thing but I can't find it anywhere. What should I do?? I tried calling apple care but they said they don't sell tiger anymore.
Does anyone know where I could get one?? I bought leapord but I don't want to use it cos' I'm scared it will wipe all my files and give me no option to run a repair/ first aid on it.
Any suggestions are greatly welcomed.

Since I upgraded to 4.0.1 Firefox won't start

I am running Windows XP 64 bit. Firefox ran fine until most recent upgrade since when it will not start. When I open it a window momentarily appears (about 0.1s) & Firefox.exe *32 appears in task manager window (if open) for the same time. The Mozilla crsah window does not appear. I have reinstalled x2, cleard all old data/addons etc & even tried creating a new windows user to no avail. Seems not to be a problem on my 32 bit XP machine.

I upgraded to FF4 and now it won't start. I went to chat and they hung up on me. Getting sick n tired of this program!

I already uninstalled it to no avail. When I double click on icon nothing happens even though it still eats 50% of my cpu (no surprise there). Was able to get hold of a helper on chat but he only asked me a question and never said anything anymore. This is really frustrating. I'm still trying only because of my bookmarks otherwise I'd have already got rid of the program altogether.

I was not even able to uninstall the ff4 from my computerr but by just reinstalling the 3.6 it got all sorted out. Now it's time to get all my bookmarks saved on another browser so I don't have to be held hostage to firefox again.

Upgraded to V 7 and iTunes won't start

I get the following massage:
iTunes.exe - Application Error

CANCEL to debug.
I have unistalled several times
rebooted every time
installed from my original cd
and finally got nowhere....
Anyone that has seen this knows what the fix is?

of all things, that one usually indicates a broken QuickTime (especially in itunes versions 5.0.x and 6.0.x).
let's first try a careful standalone QT 7.1.3 install.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1.3 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1.3 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

You need to upgrade iPhoto for Mavericks. Download the upgrade using App Store.

Running Windows Vista, upgraded to Firefox 4.0 and it won't start.

Firefox 3.6 ran with no problem. Upgraded to 4.0 and it won't start. Uninstalled Firefox and re-installed 4.0 Still won't start. Doesn't appear in task manager, either, when I try to run it.

That is a Flash site, so make sure that you have the Flash player installed and that Flash is working properly.<br />
Also make sure that you do not block JavaScript.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Quicktime broadcaster won't work since upgrade to Tiger!

this is probably the worst experience i've had trying to get support from Apple. nothing remotely resembling my problem is anywhere in the knowledge base. here's the deal...
i used broadcaster every week prior to upgrade without any problems...NOW...i am unable to "enable video stream" since upgrading to Tiger. All I can broadcast is audio.
I EVEN have AppleCare support for my computer but Apple still won't help me!!!! I spent all day on this and need it to work TOMORROW MORNING! didn't expect any problems since it worked fine before.

Okay....after a few more hours I decided to reinstall Quicktime Player and then re-enter my quicktime Pro registration key. Now it works. I'm still disappointed that Apple wouldn't help me with this though. Not the service I'm used to.
So...quicktime broadcaster users be advised of this need to reinstall quicktime after upgrading to Tiger. It wasn't just my g5 that was affected...I checked it out on my g4 powerbook and also had the same problem.

I am upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I keep getting an error when I try to load the Mac Os x update combined. It says that it was corrupted during download. Have try loading from Apple website V10.6.7 upgrade combined but it still won't do it?

Please excuse, but I have to ask an obvious question: Did you already update using the Snow Leopard Retail install DVD? (You must do this first; 10.6.7 is just an update if you already have 10.6.) Are you, then, trying to update from whatever version was on the install DVD to 10.6.7?
Otherwise, I'd keep trying. The 10.6.7 Combo is a huge update.

Classic won't launch after upgrade to Tiger

I have a user who's machine was just upgraded to 10.4.5, and now Classic won't launch.
I copied the system files from the resource folder in case they were corrupt, but it didn't help.
I tried to launch classic with extensions off, no go.
Rebuilt the desktop, no help.
when you try to launch Classic, it opens the start window and just hangs. Left it for half an hour, and it never launched.
I looked for the DivX file in /Library/application support, nothing there.
classic worked fine under 10.3.9.
Any thoughts on what to do next? Is it safe to reinstall OS 9.2 overtop or is a complete wipe and load necessary (hope not, as user has beaucoup third party apps).

Hi,
the Intel Core Duo processor is a 32-bit only processor and not capable of 64-bit.
Only the Core 2 Duo and later processors are capable of 64-bit.

I think you mean you are replacing your Airport Extreme with a Time Capsule. Time Machine is software integrated into OS X 10.5 & 10.6 used to automatically backup a system to an external HD. Time Capsule is an Airport Extreme that has a hard disk integrated into it that can be used for storage or as a Time Machine backup drive.
Because you are currently on Tiger 10.4.x you can backup to a external HD using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. Having a backup is very wise before doing any major system update. After you have created the backup and have successfully upgraded to Snow Leopard you can still use the external HD for many things. The strategy I'd recommend is to use the new Time Capsule as your Time Machine backup and then use the external HD as backup using SuperDuper or CCC. Redundant backups is wise because backups can (and do) fail too! In addition both SD and CCC are bootable clones, this is useful in that if your internal HD crashes you can boot from a cloned drive and continue working until the internal HD is replaced.

Cd's won't load after upgrade to tiger

I have been unable to load any cd's at all since upgrade to Tiger 10.4.6 from panther, New cd's and old cd's just spin and spin then eject without any error messages or anything.
Even the iwork cd included in tiger package would not load.
The drive reads the Tiger install dvd fine. It appears to not have problems with dvd's???

Have you tried a simple restart?
Also after any OS update, run Repiar Permissions from Disc Utility on your Boot Volume.
Try from a different User account (create one in SysPref/Accounts, if you only have one account)
Relaunch the Finder
Zap the PRAM
Try a DVD lens cleaning Disc (has two sets of bristles, one for CD, one for DVD), run it multiple times.
Your drive's CD lens may have died; if none of above makes any difference, and CD's of any kind continue to be ejected, I would say it's time to look at a new drive.
The good news where that is concerned is that replacement "OEM PC" bare drives (DVR-111D or ND-3550A) are only $40 or less online.
