Upgraded to Tiger, iTunes no longer works

I updated iTunes when it popped up in Software Update a week or two ago. I upgraded to Tiger tonight from 10.3.9. Before the update to Tiger, iTunes worked fine in 10.3.9. Now it does nothing at all. When I click on the icon in the dock, it bounces once and then nothing.
I found on another post where someone suggested trashing the com.apple.iTunes.plist from the Users>Library>Prefs folder. No luck there either. I haven't moved any of my music or the library for the exception of backing it up to a external FW drive.
Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I've downloaded and installed iTunes 7 from VersionTracker. That did the trick!

  • Since upgrading to Tiger Stuffit no longer works.

Since upgrading to Tiger, Stuffit no longer works. I cannot send an email with file compression selected, because it gives me an error message: The action could not be completed, an unknown internal program error has occurred.
I had been using version 9, but on the advice of Allume tech support, I uninstalled it, downloaded and installed Stuffit Deluxe 10.0.1. Twice. There are no error messages, as the program simply does not open. It is available in the dock, when I double click it, it will bounce once or twice and appear to be opening, and then stop bouncing. If I drag a file onto the icon, it bounces twice and then stops, no compressed file is created. If I go directly to the application folder and open the application, it looks like it will open, it places an icon in the doc for a split second, and then it goes away. Stuffit Expander, however, works fine.
Allume has stopped answering my inquiries because they can't figure out what's going on. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Prior to ugrading to Tiger did you repair your hard drive and permissions? Did you do a true Upgrade install or an Archive and Install? If you did an Upgrade install what version of OS X did you upgrade? If you did an Archive and Install, then try reinstalling Stuffit.
To repair the hard drive and permissions do the following:
Boot from your OS X Installer. Be sure to use the installer for the version of OS X you have installed. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.1 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Ibook G3 upgrade to Tiger (Airport no longer works)

I have had my Ibook G3(384 MB ram, 20 GB HD, 600mhz, dual USB 2.0, 1 firewire, OS X 10.2, Airport)for over 2-1/2 years without any problem. I also have been using Netgear wireless router with 2 laptop pcs and 2 Apple computers (Imac G5 2Ghz, 2Gb ram, 20" and this Ibook G3) for over a year without any problem. Just recently bought Tiger to upgrade the Ibook. Everyhting seem to work except the Airport (wireless power bars remain dead). You would think that Tiger OS would make it simpler to set-up your computer after the upgrade. In this case the Airport just wouldn't work. It was perfectly fine with Jaguar. Why the upgrade??? It just made sense to upgrade since a lot of apple peripherals would comonly work with both the Imac G5 and this Ibook. Made a call to Apple tech support.. He was unable to help. He suggested to make an appointment with the "genius" corner at a local apple dealer.
Does anyone out there exeprienced this same problem I'm having after an OS 10.4 upgrade ?
    Thx.

  • ITunes no longer works on my Windows VISTA system.  Get error msg saying C runtime library incorrectly... Error 7, Windows error 1114..

iTunes no longer works on my Windows VISTA system.  Get error msg saying an application is attempting to access C runtime library incorrectly... Error 7, Windows error 1114.  Same msg, or one that says unable to install, when trying to update or reinstall iTunes.  iTunes worked well up until about a month ago when this error msg starting appearing.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Upon upgrading iPhoto, iPhoto Help no longer works.  It gives the error message:  "The selected topic is currently unavailable. To see all iPhoto Help, you must be connected to the Internet."   I am obviously connected to the internet since you are reading this.
I tried upgrading permissions but it did not help!?  Can anyone tell me what is wrong?  Thanks

    Try
Reboot the computer, see if that fixes it.
    Then try:
Backup your files off the computer (not TimeMachine) and disconnect
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk and simply reinstalling OS X
Log in and update to 10.6.8
c boot off the 10.6 disk again and use Disk Utility >Repair Disk
reboot and all should be fine, except some third party programs that install kext files, those will have to be reinstalled from fresh sources.

It's our internal applicant tracking systems (resume database). It works fine in IE and all previous verisons of FF but in FF 7 a bubble icon pops up stating that "Please fill out this field".
The field is not required but states "Require all of these words" if you to run a search based on those parameters.

Since last update on Mavericks, the picture attachement to a movie in iTunes no longer works. Any idea ?
Picture added is not displayed in the finder ; when transfering the movie to an Ipad, it is not displayed either.
    iMac 27', Mavericks 10.9 + iTunes 11.1.2

Working here just fine. Try reinstalling:
Reinstalling Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    Yes, you will.
Do you have the songs still?
You could add them to your new library if you do.

  • The shuffle button in itunes no longer works

the shuffle button in itunes no longer works. it used to work fine.

    That's weird.
Here are some random thoughts, sorry if they're not too awesome.
    * Do you get the Manage Widgets window with no list in it? OR not even the window?
    * How long do you wait for your list to pop up? On my (admittedly ancient)
powerbook, it may take a few seconds the first time I try it.
    * You might consider looking at the Console log messages (set to "All messages") to see if
there are any error messages being generated when you ask to "Manage Widgets".
    * You might try removing all your widgets manually via the ~/Library/Widgets folder. This
could be a workaround, I guess, too. But my thought is maybe there is a bad widget in there which is somehow clogging up the Manage Widgets thing.

  • ITunes no longer working after Song Upgrade.

I got onto iTunes store, was offered to upgrade 32 of my songs, I said "Yes". After the upgrading completed, iTunes main window pane no longer worked for anything but the iTunes store. It will play my music if I manually select it from the disk (via Finder) but does not seem to be able to display any of my playlists or my music library.
I am running Safari 3.0 (as an FYI).
Mac OS X 10.4.9 (on an intel mini).

Unfortunately uninstalling and reinstalling, or repairing the current copy of iTunes alone doesn't fix the problem....
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)

  • Problems + Itunes no longer works

    Hello,
I recently used a system optimization tool because my system in running pretty slow. It worked somewhat, but now I am having problems in other area that previously were just fine. For instance, whenever (since the optimization) I open iTunes, iTunes takes forever to open and no longer contains my large library of music that was once there. I did a little snooping around the files in my hard drive to see if I could tell if there is an obvious problem. Well, there is, but I can't figure what to do about it.
In the "user" file in the hard drive there are duplicates of the desktop folder. I am thinking that the optimization took the the desktop contents and placed them into a folder and stored them in the User folder....Arggghh
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here?
    Two more questions:
1.) My hard drive is filling up, so I want to upgrade it to a large hard drive. I've read articles, where people have upgraded there hard drive on the same or lesser models of the emac 1ghz g4, without any problems. The current hard drive is a 5400 rpm 40gb. I would like to put in a 160-320 GB 7200 rpm hard drive in. My question then is, will there be a definite problem if I do so?
2.) I want to upgrade to Tiger or Leopard. Do I have to install Tiger before installing Leopard? Or, can I just wipe the hard drive clean and install Leopard? I tried installing Tiger from a disk my wife owns only to find a "grey/ you need to restart you computer now screen." My theory is, the only way this computer will install that Tiger disk, is if I wipe the hard drive clean first.
Whew.... Sorry for the naggingly longish post. But, I have to ask because I need to keep this computer for at least another 1.5 years.
    Thank you!
    James

I can only guess what the optimization tool did, so I won't. Duplicate desktop files would normally be bad, but please be a little more descriptive. Are there duplicate folders in your home folder? iTunes looks in a the iTunes folder in your Music folder which is in your home folder. Is that OK?
One possibility of what to do next: get an external HD and move all your important files to it. Erase your internal HD and install 10.4 or 10.5. Then, move important files back and/or access them from the external HD. It's honestly a bit dificult to advise you exactly what to put on the external HD and what to put on the internal HD without knowing what sorts of files and apps you use the most - so you could post back with that info or actually any more specific info on the app you used to clean up your HD and what's going on in your home folder.
Is the disk you got form your wife grey or black? Grey disks are intended for specific Macs, black ones will work on any Mac that meets the system requirements for the OS on the disk.
Installing a new internal HD in an eMac is not impossible, but it's going to take an hour or two if you've never done it. Also, make sure you don't get a SATA HD, as that won't work in your eMac. You'll need a plain old ATA, or PATA HD.
As for 10.4 or 10.5 - you'll want at least 1 GB of memory installed to get reasonable performance out of 10.5, and a 1GHz eMac may not be the best Mac for 10.5. 10.4 install disks are getting harder and more expensive to come by.
hth and post back with more info, someone will give you more info to think about.
    Jeff
