Upgraded to Yosemite outgoing email server offline BT

Since upgrading to Yosemite this weekend Mac Mail outgoing server is showing as offline.  Using  BT email account.  Able to receive e-mails but cannot send.  Have checked all settings and tried removing/ adding both e-mail accounts several times.  Still same problem.
My daughter still able to send BT e-mails from BT accounts on her PC,  my husband still able to send email via BT account using iPhone 4s which has not had recent upgrade.  Also able to send email if I log directly into BT mail and use their system which could indicate Apple Mail/ Yosemite problem with BT account?
Any help, advice or comments would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Debbie

I upgraded to Yosemite over a week ago and all was fine until yesterday when I started getting identical symptoms to those outlined by  others.
Would it be possible for you (or someone else) to explain in more detail exactly how you deleted all your SMTP servers.
I have several listed .  .  .  some are bt and some yahoo.

Sometimes deleting the account and then re-creating it can solve this issue
Write down all the information in accounts before doing this
Highlight the account on the left and click the minus button
Then click the plus button to add the new account and follow the prompts

That will depend on your email provider.
The provider has to tell you the outgoing emailserver address.

  • ISP Particular About Outgoing Email Server

My ISP is one of those who insist you use their outgoing email servers. It's a CYA issue in which they seek to keep SPAM from being sent with their domain on it. However, the password I use to log in to my account on their web site get's rejected whenever I try logging in to their outgoing email server. Does anybody know what's going on?

    Hi,
However, the password I use to log in to my account on their web site get's rejected whenever I try logging in to their outgoing email server
Not quite clear what you mean by that... is this WebMail?

  • Email server offline

This problem began before upgrading to Mavericks but remains unchanged. My email server constantly responds "Mail was unable to connect to server “mail.speakeasy.net” using SSL on port 955. Verify that this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct." My settings have been the same for several years and tech support on the server end confirms that they are correct, and on their web site, all email comes and goes as it should. I have an AOL account that works, a Road Runner account that works, and a Gmail account that sometimes goes offline but which can be coaxed back into service. But my two speakeasy accounts refuse to connect.
Any suggestions where I should look next?

Are you overseas this week?  Several non-US IP addresses are trying to send as your account.   It's possible your account was compromised.  Try calling the Customer Security Assurance Department at (888) 565-4329 for help with resetting your password, if this doesn't work for you:

  • Lumia 800 outgoing email server settings

    Hello,
I need to set my outgoing work email (SMTP) server port number to 587 and connection security to TLS. However, I can't see an option to set either the port number nor the security to TLS. SSL security can be turned on/off, but no mention of TLS.
I have read elsewhere that setting the server name as <server name> : <port number> can be used (that is, using a colon to separate the server name from the port number), but still this does not allow for selecting TLS security.
My incoming email, IMAP, works fine, so my connection/username/password etc. should all be fine.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't know if this is actually the case but according to Google. They use port 587 on their SMTP for TLS connections and port 465 for SSL. I created the following using port 587 and was able to send an email.....
Advanced Email Configuration (relevant info only)
    Outgoing (SMTP) email server: smtp.gmail.com:587
outgoing server requires authentication: (Checked On)
Require SSL for outgoing email: (Checked On)

  • 8120 Outgoing Email Server help...

    Hello all...
(I guess there are no bound manuals for this phone, as I received no answer to my other post.  I have another question though....)..
Earthlink requires an outgoing server of smtp.earthlink.net for me to send email to my email address, or to send BCC's there.  I see no way to change the outgoing server on this device.  Is there a way I'm missing?
I am receiving all other mail on my BB, but those I've sent to myself or BCC'd there, have ended up in limbo, somewhere, not even on my email server.  Just disappeared into thin air, along with all the delivery notificatons I should've received upon sending other emails, which indeed did find their way to their intended destinations.  And I need those copies..
I'm not using wireless or the computer software.  I need to change the setting through my mobile provider's website (T-Mobile), where I don't see this option, or through RIM, or directly via the phone's settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If I can't solve it, I'll have to return the phone for one compatible with this particular Earthlink setup.  Shame too, because the battery and most other features are good.  They should've allowed us to pull email down from the server on demand though.  Waiting three or sometimes fifteen minutes or more isn't acceptable really, but I could put up with it, if I can fix the outgoing server problem.
    Thank you..

BIS uses its own smtp server to send out email on your behalf. there is no way to configure this. If you has yahoo or gmail or hotmail email address, BIS posts the sent items in the sent folder for these providers and also for Gmail, yahoo and go daddy the delivery is instant, no wait.
I amnot surte why you got complains, the 1-15 lag is by design on BIS, nothing new.

  • Outgoing Email server not working for iPhoto

All I want to be able to do is send myself hi-res images from iPhoto. It's telling me "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination." I have tried every combination under the sun.
At one point it prompted me for an outgoing server and I put in the one from my phone...that was probably the wrong thing to do...but I cannot seem to change it, despite several attempts at setting up all my different email addresses and deleting and trying again.

Would you please confirm what email you are trying to use with iPhoto, you still have not.
Is it an iCloud account or from some other provider?
it would prompt me to set up an iCloud account, which I believe I already have.
To find out if you actually have an iCloud account go to www.icloud.com and try to login.

  • Outgoing email server not available

I got an email from aol (verified) that a large number of their email accounts have been compromised. They suggested that I change my password and my security question. I did so, and I also changed my aol password on my iPhone 4. I tried to send an email from my iPhone and got a message that it coulld not be sent beacause I do not have a connection to my outgoing mail server. I tried to change the password on the server, but the password was greyed out. I guess I'll have to delete the aol account and add it back in. My question is, will I lose my "notes" "calendar" and my "contact list"? or will the iPhone software retain them?
I would be most grateful for a response.
    Boston31

If your notes, calendar and contact list are on the AOL mail server, you will get them back when you add back your email account.
To check that they are go to your mail on the server and check.
