Upgrading 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 on windows 2003

Hi all!!
Im in process of upgrading 11.5.10.2(Already upgraded 11g database) to 12.1.1 when running rapid wiz for the first time i selected upgrade and On the Select Upgrade Action screen, select Create Upgrade File System after that I gave the same SID which I have on 11i ERP.(to avoid the conflict deleted the old sid service of oracle DB as per note 761567.1*C:\> [ORACLE_HOME]\bin\oradim -DELETE -SID [SID]*). but I gave a new port pool instead of the old one. Now i have 11.1.0.7 database which comes with R12 and 11.2.0.2 which I have upgraded (11i ERP) now please tell me what should I do? shall i delete the R12 files and start the rapid install again with same port pool or any other solution ....
Thanks!!

I have changed the contextfile as per above i mean db port, connectdescriptor and port pool and the ran autoconfig on appstier but it fails with errors
Updating s_tnsmode to 'generateTNS'

  • Upgrading Oracle 9.2 (32bit Windows 2000) to 10.2 (64bit Windows 2003)

    Hello all,
We currently run SolMan v3.1 on aged 32bit hardware and we plan to upgrade this to SolMan v4 on a new 64bit infrastructure. As part of this task, we would also like to move from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 x64 and from Oracle 9.2 to Oracle 10.2
The current situation is that the new server is built to Windows 2003 x64 level only. Nothing else is installed on the new server at this time. My plan was to install Oracle 9.2 and SolMan 3.1 and then take a system copy of the existing database and then upgrade it to SolMan v4 and Oracle 10.2 (leaving the old system as-is for recovery reasons, should we run into problems).
Has anyone any experience of doing this in a Windows and Oracle environment who could help me with getting this right?
    Many thanks,
    Arwel Owen.

    Hi all,
As this is a fairly low-priority upgrade, we decided to try to experiment a little to try to avoid the ORacle 9 to 10 upgrade. We decided upon the following approach:
    1) Install Windows 2003 x64 (on new server)
    2) Install Oracle 10.2 x64
    3) Install SolMan v3.1
    4) Export existing SolMan v3.1 database (from existing server)
    5) Import existing SolMan v3.1 database (onto new server)
    6) Upgrade to SolMan v4
We have installed Oracle 10.2 and applied 10.2.0.2 Patchset 1 and all seemed okay. We are now installing SolMan v3.1, but SAPinst crashes out after specifying the SAP system directory and transport host and just before starting the database-dependent cations. The error message is:
<b>ERROR: MDB-06168. Oracle is not installed on this host. Install Oracle before continuing.</b>
Oracle definitely IS installed, but it appears that SAPInst for SolMan v3.1 may be too old to recognise Oracle 10.2.
I thought I'd ask for advice before I go and butcher the KEYDB.XML and ORADBPAR.XML files. (It's only a test install!)
    Thanks,
    Arwel.

  • Windows 2003 SP2 upgrade question in regards to OSS 30478

We are currently running our production system on a windows 2003 sp1 two-node cluster with SQL 2005.
I would like to get it upgraded to SP2, but I have a question on OSS note 30478.
There is a sentence in there stating:
-Special features with Service Packs for Windows Server 2003 in the cluster:
Service Pack 2: Before you import Support Package on platform x86_64, you must replace SAP resource DLL on both cluster nodes with the most current version.
Can someone elaborate on "replace SAP resources DLL on both cluster nodes"?
Does that just mean I need to upgrade the Kernel to the latest version?
It seems to be a fairly bold statement with very vague instructions.  Anyways any guidance would be appreciated.

  • I have a Windows 2003 Server 64-Bit, and when I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1 now it won't run, it keeps saying to restart to complete the installation, but I've restarted theserver 4 times, and I still can't use it.

I have a Windows 2003 Server 64-Bit, and when I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1 now it won't run, it keeps saying to restart the computer to complete the installation, but I've restarted theserver 4 times, and I still can't use it.

I ended up putting it in DFU mode.  It's kinda hard to tell it was in DFU mode because nothing showed on the screen, it was just black, but the sounds from the computer helped to tell me it was connected.
Itunes still didn't recognize the device for whatever reason.
So I used redsn0w.  I don't know if I can say that on these forums, but considering itunes was worthless at this point I am going to give credit where credit is due.
Now I am giving itunes a second chance to upgrade to 5.1, if it doesn't work, well, back to redsnow and maybe I will even jailbreak it this time rather than just using the fecovery fix found under extras.

  • Upgrade from a two tier EBS 11i 11.5.10.2 on Windows 2003 Apps and Windows 2008 R2 DB  tier to two Tier R12.2.3 both on Windows 2008 R2

    Hi,
Any ideas about the best practices for the migration/upgrade reflected with the below question?
I have a source EBS11i 11.5.10.2 running as a two tier configuration ( apps tier on server  ora10 on Windows 2003, DB tier 11.2.0.2 on server ora1 on Windows 8 R2. Can I use the Note 1377213.1 for a migration to a two tier configuration ( apps tier on server T10 running Windows 2008 R2 and EBS 12.2.3 and DB tier running 11.2.0.4 on Windows 2008 R2 )? What alternative approach could you suggest? As far as I know EBS11i is not certified on Windows 2008 R2 and R12.2.0 is not certified on Windows 2003.

Yes you can by following "Application Tier Upgrades and Migrations" section -- Install 12.2 apps tier on 64-bit Windows and proceed with the upgrade.

  • Will upgrading to OSX Mountain Lion erase my rEFIT dual boot Windows?

    Hi All,
At the suggestion of one of the users in a different section of the forum, I am posting my question here in hopes of finding someone who might have already done this upgrade and can speak from experience.
I have a MacBook Air that is currently setup to dual-boot OSX Lion or Windows 7 with Boot Camp. The Windows 7 was a requirement in order to be able to use my laptop for work. I want to upgrade to Mountain Lion but I also don't want to erase the partitioning on the hard-drive and I want to keep my Windows 7 installation intact. If I choose to upgrade (instead of a clean install) will this delete the Windows partition and wipe out my disk or will it retain my dual-boot option as it currently is?
    Thanks for your help.

Then wait on update, and plan to (goes without saying hopefully) to have  backups of both that you can always restore. Especially as this is a work computer in essence.
Lion had trouble until 10.7.1 and the Lion 4.0 Windows Support Software itself was buggy for those that were installing Windows (or upgrade their boot camp drivers with Lion's).
Until people look at the Lion Recovery partition and whether that changed in size or something, or other changes to the partition tables.
WinClone 3 and CampTune can both help preserve your installation and Carbon Copy Cloner to make bootable backup of Lion and Lion Recovery, in addition to TimeMachine. (TimeMachine has been improved and more flexible).
And store your ML install package somewhere - given how slow it is DL'ing I'd wait days to even bother.

  • Windows 2003 SP2 = 2008 R2 SP1 Upgrade 62% Rollback

    Hello,
we have to upgrade our Windows Server 2003 SP2 x64 (DC), to Windows 2008 R2 SP1.
Unfortunately, a clean install is not an option.
The server is a virtual machine. Therefore, first we make a clone, for a test upgrade, of the server.
Adprep and domainprep was successful. Problematic Software: Acronis, DaemonTools, Kasperksy.. is uninstalled.
Will upgraded with a clean iso, downloaded from the VLSC.
All Windows 2003 updates have been installed and a clean-boot (msconfig : MS services, no startup items), was done.
During the upgrade, we download the installation updates (Get important updates for installation).
The environment variable MIG_UPGRADE_IGNORE_PLUGINS = IphlpsvcMigPlugin.dll was already tried in another upgrade.
    We have the setupact.log (33MB) from the \$Windows folder.~ BT\Sources\Panther\ . But can't found the error.
    The Upgrade stops at 62%:
Then the server reboots and performs a rollback :
    What can we do?
    Regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
Stopped at 62% is a common issue which could be caused by many factors.
First I suggest you to remove all unnecessary devices like printer, USB device etc.
Also try to uninstall drivers for hardware devices. I noticed that many applications are already deleted in troubleshooting process so check if any unnecessary program still exists.
If issue still exists, try check disk and SFC.
The last option is to perform an in-place upgrade with Windows Server 2003 and try the 2008 upgrade again.

    Hi,
Most probably these kind of errors pop up if the drivers are not compatible. Do you find any .dmp files under folder C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources ? If so
open it with debugger and check for the affected .sys file name.
Check the DVD media, or try a different media.

  • Export to Excel alignment off after Windows 2003 upgrade

    Hi All,
I have an application that uses Crystal Reports 10(sp6) and VB6 that has worked fine for a few years and now that I have upgraded the server to Windows 2003 the alignment of the excel output is off.  All pages (45 of them) get printed on their own row in the output xls file.  The report gets filled in during the execution of the VB6 executable and then gets exported to PDF and then to excel.  PDF is fine but the excel output is unacceptable.  I've been playing with the different exportoptions and cannot seem to get the alignment I need.  Basically we need the rows and columns to align.
In further testing I have exported the report with data (our original rpt file is just a shell that we fill in with data) to a crystal reports file.  I then have taken this report through the Crystal Reports 10 IDE and was able to export it and the output looks exactly like I need it to.  So I'm sure there is settings to accomplish the output.
    This is the original code:
    With My_Crystal_Report
        .ExportOptions.Reset
        .ExportOptions.FormatType = crEFTExcelDataOnly
        .ExportOptions.ExcelMaintainColumnAlignment = False
        .ExportOptions.ExcelUseFormatInDataOnly = True
        .ExportOptions.ExcelConstantColumnWidth = CDbl(800)
        .ExportOptions.DestinationType = crEDTDiskFile
        .ExportOptions.DiskFileName = filePath & ".xls"
        .Export (False)
    End With
Here are the settings when I run the report through the Crystal Reports 10 IDE:
    - Custom: Data is exported according to selected options
    - Constant column width (in points): 36.0
    - Export object formatting
    - Maintain relative object position
    - Maintain column alignment
One thing I was wondering is that there are different versions of Visual Studio including VS2008 and I was wondering if the Crystal Reports that gets installed with them could be interfering.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Is there a setting that I'm missing in the code, registry, etc.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    Hi,
The only other difference I found as far as I could see was the following two files:
    CRXF_XLS.dll
    CRXF_XLS_RES_EN.dll
Once loaded into the bin directory they are no longer a difference but output is still the same.
There are other differences as far as Only In CRW32.EXE (only Crystal Reports differences by description)
    CRXF_HTML.DLL  10.0.5.75
    CRXF_HTML_RES_EN.DLL  10.0.5.75
    CRXF_RTF.DLL  10.0.5.604
    CRXF_RTF_RES_EN.DLL  10.0.5.604
    CRXF_WORDW.DLL  10.0.5.604
    CRXF_WORDW_RES_EN.DLL  10.0.5.604
    U2FCR.DLL  10.0.0.552
    U2FTEXT.DLL  10.0.5.604
    X3FCREN.DLL  10.0.0.552
    X3FTXEN.DLL  10.0.5.603
Do you think that a possible way to fix this would be to I uninstall Crystal Reports and reinstall without the sp6 and then find out which sp was installed on current windows 2000 server and install that and see what I receive for output?
I have been spending way to much time on this and really need to bring the customer in so that they know we have this level of an issue.  Do you also think maybe we should open a ticket? I don't know if this is feasible as you mentioned there is no support for Crystal Reports 10.
    Thanks,
    Jim

After upgrading to OS Mavericks, I realized that the Partition for Windows is gone. I have really important data on this drive without a back up. Is there any way I can get this data before reformatting. Is there any third party software for receiving the data or any possible way? Money is not a limitation to this fix. Please help!!!

sure pretty simple.  make a backup of your current settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US
then restore device from old backup you need pics off of
    then import pics to computer

  • Oracle 9i and upgrade Windows 2000 to Windows 2003

    Hi,
We have a Oracle 9i (9.2.0.6.0 Enterprise Edition) running under Windows 2000 and the OS group is going to upgrade to Windows 2003.
My question is: will Oracle keep working?
I hope so because we are not allowed to upgrade to 10g or 11g and I think Oracle 9i for Windows 2003 can't be downloaded anymore.
    regards,
    Ivan

No,you have to upgrade your database(startup upgrade) or compile all invalid objects, using above sqls due to your OS version changed and your cold backup shoul be startup upgrade/migrate option. This is not required.
    Please refer to :

    RegardsRajesh
    Please see your suggested doc
    - Take a cold backup of you existing database before you start OS and DB upgrade .
    - Upgrade the Operating system (refer your OS documentation for detail)
    - Execute 'relink all '
    - Verify that the existing database is working fine with the upgraded Operating system.
    - Take one more cold backup before you start Database upgrade
    - Install Oracle Software (to which you want to upgrade) in new oracle home.
    - Upgrade database (refer the upgrade/migration guide for complete instruction ) *Process To Upgrade the Operating System and Oracle Database Server [ID 407055.1]*
It means you need startup upgrade/migrate.

  • Inplace and side by side upgrade from windows 2003 64 bit R2 contains SSRS 2008 R2 to windows 2008 64 bit R2

    Hello All,
       Case 1 -In place upgrade
I would like to do in place upgrade from windows 2003 64 bit R2 that contains SSRS 2008 to windows 2008 R2 64 bit. The upgrade would be happened at OS level not at SSRS level.
I would like to know what are the  necessary steps should be taken  prior/during/post  upgrade from SSRS end  as we can not rollback if there is some issue with in place upgrade.
      Case 2-Side by side upgrade
I would like to do side by side migration from windows 2003 32 bit  that contains SSRS 2008 to windows 2008 R2 64 bit. The side by side  would be happened at both OS level and  SSRS level.
I would like to know what are the  necessary steps should be taken  prior/during/post side by side migration  from SSRS end.

Before doing anything Take backups .
    In case of reporting services..
Back up your symmetric key. For more information.
Back up your report server databases and configuration files. For more information.
Back up any customizations to existing Reporting Services virtual directories in IIS.

  • Windows 2003 SP2 servers migrating from IIS 6.0 to IIS 7.5 without upgrading to Windows 2008 R2

I have 3 Windows 2003 SP2 servers running IIS 6.0 and my client wants to upgrade to IIS 7.5 without having to upgrade the OS to Windows 2008 R2. Is this possible?
    Thanks

No I'm afraid not. The full versions of IIS depend on the OS, so IIS6 on 2003, IIS7 on 2008, IIS7.5 on 2008 R2.
The Express version of IIS can be installed on 2003 but that's for developers only so no use in your situation.
Also worth nothing in terms of upgrading, unless your 2003 installation is 64-bit then you can only do an in place upgrade to 2008 IIS7. There's no 32-bit option with 2008 R2, and no way to do an in place upgrade between 32-bit and 64-bit, so if you really
need to upgrade to IIS 7.5 then your only option would be to start with a new install and then migrate the websites from one server to another.
