  • Oracle Application Server 10g/Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g

Hi folks, This question related to migration/upgrade of Oracle Application Server infrastructure.
I see that the Oracle has come up with Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. Is it the next release of Oracle Application Server 10g. I have the following questions. Appreciate if any one can provide answers to the following questions. Please correct me if my understanding of these oracle products is not right! Thanks
    1. What is the future of Oracle Application Server?
    2. Is it Oracle Fusion Middleware(OFM) 11g is the upgrade path if one need
    to upgrade?
    3. Is it expected that expected that customers need(if require) to move to OFM 11g?
    4. Does OFM 10g comes with Oracle Application Server? If not what does
    it comes with?
    5. If it does not, what about customers having applications built using oracle forms and reports? Does OFG 11g
    support Oracle forms and reports?
I understand that OFM 10g comes with Oracle web logic server!
    Thanks in advance.
    movva

To run Forms and Reports in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g you have to use the distribution "Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer" in the FMW 11g software pack.
The structure of what we used to call "the application server" has changed a bit however, in the following way:
    - In 11g you need to install the Javaserver WebLogic software (version 10.3.3 for the current Forms 11g version 11.1.1.3) first.
In 10g the installation of the Javaserver (OC4J) was part of the App server install.
Note that you just have to install the software, the configuration script for creating a Forms app server instance creates the WebLogic domain (comparable with the OC4J instance) for you.
    - In 11g the Fusion Middleware software installation is separate from the creation of an application server instance.
This is more convenient and comparable to Oracle database and Weblogic installation.
    - The Fusion Middleware Configuration script installs two parts of the product: 1. A WebLogic Domain. 2. A Fusion Middleware instance.
The first contains everything related to Java, such as the servlet configuration file (formsweb.cfg), while the latter contains everything that has less to do with the Javaserver
    - No more Infrastructure server
The Infrastructure server does not exist anymore. If you want to use Single Sign On with Forms/Reports 11g you can install Identity Management 10.1.4.3 (or use Identity Management 11g, and configure separately the 10.1.4.3 Single Sign On) or keep your old 10g Infrastructure installation.
During installation you just have to specify you want to use OID and SSO and it configures out of the box.
Under normal circumstances the same licenses apply to 10g and 11g (as long as you do not use WebLogic for other purposes).

  • Cannot start Enterprise Manager for Fusion Middleware 11g

    Dear all,
Because I want to install Oracle EGRCM v8.0.1 in Linux x86_64, so I installed Oracle Weblogic 11gR1 and SOA Suite 11g first.
After installation successfully, I created a base_domain as default, and can start weblogic administration server ( http://localhost:7001/console ) successfully.
Now I want to use Enterprise Manager for Fusion Middleware 11g. Per "*Oracle® Fusion Middleware Administrator's Guide 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)*", the EM should be available now and the access URL should be http://localhost:7001/em . But when I try to access it, the following error returned:
    Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    +10.4.5 404 Not Found+
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
So I try to start with emctl in *$MW_HOME/oracle_common/bin/*, the error is as following:
    +./emctl: line 387 /d02/Middleware/oracle_common/perl/bin/perl: No such file or directory+.
I check the path and find out that no directory named "perl" under */d02/Middleware/oracle_common*. So I try to copy the necessary dir from the dir installed Oracle Database 11g ( *$ORACLE_HOME* ), but it returns following error:
OC4J Configuration issue. /d02/Middleware/oracle_common/sysman/j2ee not found.
I try to copy necessary dir from *$ORACLE_HOME* but still cannot start EM.
Please give some advise about how I can start EM for Fusion Middleware 11g, any idea is appreciate!
    Best Regards,
    Kenny Wang

    Hi Kenny
See this post of mine: Re: Fusion Middleware Console
For any SOA Domain, unless you have Enterprise Manager Facet enabled (during domain creation process or adding later on by extending it), you will not be able to access the EM Console. For quick testing, open config.xml file for your domain and check the modules specially em module as shown below. It should be there. This is for one of my SOA Cluster Domains with SOA on top of WLS 10.3.2
    <app-deployment>
    <name>em</name>
    <target>AdminServer</target>
    <module-type>ear</module-type>
    <source-path>C:\beawls1032\user_projects\applications\soaDomainCluster1/em.ear</source-path>
    <deployment-order>400</deployment-order>
    <security-dd-model>DDOnly</security-dd-model>
    <staging-mode>nostage</staging-mode>
    </app-deployment>
    Thanks
    Ravi JeggaHello Ravi:
I too like Kenny experienced the EXACT same thing this morning. I was trying to figure out how to modify the formsweb.cfg and I remembered from when I install Oracle9i/10g AS a few years back, that it was on the Enterprise Manager Console for forms (different than the EM for the database). Well that's different than the consoles for Weblogic Server and Weblogic Server for Forms. I ran into the same errors Kenny did, and I followed your steps except that I did install into the domain the Enterprise Manager so when I looked at the config.xml I do see the same code that you posted above. Yet I still get the error when accessing
    http://computer:7001/em
Also when trying to run emctl (I copied the perl directory from the database) and same error as Kenny. Any tips/clues?
I'm running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Oracle 11g (database, Fusion Middleware).
    Thanks,
    Gio

  • Structure Design for fusion middleware &weblogic project

    Hi All,
we have new project for upgrade forms & reports up to 11g as fusion middleware
I searched a lot to find proper design to start implementing phase...
    I got good design
2 servers will run 2x independent Oracle fusion middleware (forms and reports) with weblogic on it,
and we need one load balancer
User will hit the load balancer and load balancer will direct the connections to the individual server in a round robin manner.
So could you please more clarification for the above scenario with details.
    Second Scenario....
there is scenario with using oracle cluster .....
so please I need more details about this scenario.
and could you please provide the license cost of cluster.
    thanks,
    Ahmed.

    Hi Ravi,
we set with oracle consultant in OFM.
and he advice us to do cluster in report level
    e.g we have to server...
serverA create report instance let us say report1, and in another server create report instance named reprot2
between tow reports create on node as cluster named reports.qnet,
requests comes to reports.qnet and reports.qnet will assign requested to report1 and report2.
but i am confuse, could you please advice,
    thanks,
    Ahmed.

  • Are EM Fusion Middleware Control & EM Grid Control different?

What is the difference between Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control & Enterprise Manager Grid Control? Are they two separate products or same (meaning Grid Control is super set of Middleware Control)?
Can I install SOA Management pack on Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control 11g or Is it that EM Middleware Control is same as SOA management pack?
If I am already using EM Middleware Control, what benefits I have by using SOA Management pack on EM Grid Control?
    Thanks,
    Channu

You can manage your Oracle Fusion Middleware environment using Oracle Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control (Fusion Middleware Control) or Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
Fusion Middleware Control is a part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g installation. With Fusion Middleware Control, you can - Manage a single Oracle Fusion Middleware Farm and a single WebLogic Domain, Monitor the availability and performance of Fusion Middleware software in real time mode, Perform routine administration tasks such as deploying applications, configuring parameters etc.
Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control is a Web browser-based, graphical user interface that you can use to monitor multiple Oracle Fusion Middleware Farms and Oracle WebLogic Server Domains. In fact, Grid Control provides deep management solutions for Oracle technologies including Oracle packaged applications, Oracle Database and Oracle VM. Grid Control also offers extensive support for non-Oracle technologies through more than two dozen heterogeneous management plug-ins and connectors including Microsoft MOM, IBM WebSphere, JBoss, EMC storage, F5 BIG IP, Check Point Firewall, and Remedy. Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control needs to be installed separately as it is not a part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g installation. With Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control, you can: Centrally manage multiple Oracle Fusion Middleware Farms and WebLogic Domains, Manage third party tools such as WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, and Microsoft.NET Framework.

  • Problem with Reports Server on Fusion Middleware 11g

    Hi,
We recently installed a new Weblogic Fusion Middleware Server 11g and I'm trying to get the reports server to start. When I issue the opmnctl command to start the standalone report server it says it is unable to do so but does not explain why. Our old 10g reports server was on Windows Server 2003 and the new 11g one is on Linux RHEL 4 so there are some differences, I'm hoping someone can give me a hand to find out what the problem is - at the moment I'm flying blind.
    Thanks
    Adam

In the documentation that Shail pointed to, take a look at the Migration Assistant part:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e10394/migtool.htm#i1004902
*"The Oracle Forms Migration Assistant updates obsolete usage in your PL/SQL code in order to upgrade your Forms 6i applications to Oracle Forms 11g."*
I think it is clear that you can upgrade from 6i to 11g in one step... you need to upgrade to 10g first if you are coming from pre 6i versions ...
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e10394/plsqlconv.htm#i1007147
*"If you are upgrading from releases of Forms before Forms 6i to Oracle Forms 11g, you must first upgrade your applications to Forms 10g, and then upgrade* them to Oracle Forms 11g."+
You can also decide not to use the Migration assistant and open the 6i objects (.fmb, .mmb, etc) with the Forms Builder 11g and they would be upgraded to 11g by simply saving the object.

  • Trouble with Documentation ZIP File for Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.6)

    Hello,
I downloaded E23943_01.zip, which is the 2.5 GB documentation set for Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.6), WebLogic 10.3.6. WinZip will not open the ZIP file due to this error: too many entries in central directory according to end of central directory info. My other ZIP programs report essentially the same error as WinZip.
When I first encountered the error, I assumed my download did not complete correctly; but I downloaded it three times, with the same error. All three downloads had the same file sizes, and I even binary-compared two of them, which were identical.
I am suspicious that the source E23943_01.zip file on Oracle's site is corrupt. Can anyone corroborate or refute my suspicions?

  • Configuring 11g forms and reports with sso in fusion middleware 11.1.1.6

    Hi Experts,
I have followed the below oracle support documents to integrate the three components Oracle Fusion middleware forms and reports 11.1.1.6, OID 11.1.1.2 and OAM 11.1.1.5.
How to Install, Configure and Integrate Oracle Internet Directory (OID) and Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 11g? (Doc ID 1395233.1)
How to Integrate Forms 11gR2 with OAM/SSO after an 11gR2 Forms/Reports Installation (Doc ID 1531370.1).
After completing the above steps i am able to access the OAM console with OID username.
But while trying to access the Forms through the URL, i'm geeting 404 page not found error.
Can someone help me on this.

  • Installing OAM 10.1.4.3 with Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g

    Hi All,
I am installing OAM 10.1.4.3 with Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. The installation issue in creating an OID "start Oracle Internet Directory" was resolved. However, when I am installing OAM identity server it asked for the Configuration DN and Searchbase. I tried to enter dc="myCompany" as Config DN and Searchbase it did not accept. I was really stuck in my installation.
How will I check my searchbase and configdn in Fusion Middleware 11g?
Your help is very much appreciated. I need this ASAP.
    thanks.

The product configuration DN is the node into which the product meta-data will be stored.
If your root suffix is dc=abc,dc=com it is considered best practice to define another node such as ou=apps.
The product will create o=oblix under the configuration DN.
I mention this in many of my responses on this forum: If you are trying to get going with OAM without training or professional help, you will find it a tough road. Get some training or bring in someone who knows the product.

  • Oracle Fusion Middleware 11G  B2B Document Type not getting Identified

    Hello,
I have installed Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g on my local machine and created a custom document type with proper .xsd definition and XPath Expression Identifier in Oracle B2B interface and configured its trading partners ( Host & Remote ) along with an agreement between the partners.
I have also configured the host listening channel of Generic-File type which picks xml files from my c:\orclsrvs_in folder.
My problem is that the moment I drop any sample file in the expected directory, it gets picked up from B2B , but there isn't any record of the same under Reports and Metrics links.
The Business message, Application message and Conversation message tabs are also not showing any information about the record picked, but in wire message tab, the record is shown in PROCESSING state.
I am not able to conclude whats wrong behind this.. where can i track the logs for the same ??
kindly help to resolve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards
    Hiteshkumar Chaudhary

    Hi Hitesh,
i came to know that B2B extracts the TP name from the filename itselfYes, in case of Generic File, Generic SFTP and Generic FTP, file name provides the necessary values to Oracle B2B to identify the Trading Partner. You can define your own file name format in the Delivery Channel under Transport Protocol Parameters in field "Filename format" (It's an optional field but it is always good to define your own format, otherwise B2B will take it's default format - TradingPartner_DocumentType_Revision_msgType_msgId_replytoMsgID_extension.xml ). Following Filename formats can be used -
    %FROM_PARTY%
    %TO_PARTY%
    %DOCTYPE_NAME%
    %DOCTYPE_REVISION%
    %MSG_ID%
    %TIMESTAMP%
These file name formats can be used in any combination; for example,
    %TO_PARTY%_%DOCTYPE_NAME%_%DOCTYPE_REVISION%.dat
Note - Any file extension is allowed.
what are the system parameters to be set in weblogic console and how?? This activity is part of the pre and post installation steps. If you have done those without getting any errors then nothing else is required.
how shall I reinstall XEngine properly ??XEngine is part of B2B installation. If B2B gets installed without flashing any errors then we assume that other components of this part has installed properly.

    Hi,
Trying to install Oracle Fusion Middleware 11gR1 on windows. I have followed the guidelines provided in the http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/install.1111/e14318/toc.htm
    1. Installing the weblogic (11g)
    2. Oracle 11g databse installation
    3. Running the RCU utility to create schema
    4. Installed and copied relevant files for Java Bridge
    5. Configure the Fusion Middleware

Can any one please tell me if i have missed any steps?
    thanks and regards,
    Naveen

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Now managed server is starting up but I couldn't see SOA folder and User Messaging folder in the em console.Log suggests that few classes (like SOAStartup Class) are missing though they are already in the classpath. Also I could find lot of errors with the tag "Access is denied". I am unable to run startManagedWeblogic.cmd using "Run as administrator" command to solve this issue. Just pasted log entries that could be of use . Can you please help.

  • Deploying forms on Fusion Middleware 11g

Hi everyone! I will post my thread in english and spanish.
    English:_
I have developed a simple form using developer 11g on a windows pc, and now I want to deploy it on a SLES10 server that has installed WebLogic Server 10.3/Fusion Middleware 11g. The form just has a button. When a user press it, appears a modal window showing a message (WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED event with a message('') invocation). From the developer´s PC the form works fine, showing the modal window, but when I execute the form from the server using http:\\<server>:<port>\forms\frmservlet?form=<form_name> I see the form in the applet but when I press the button, nothing happens... no modal window, no error, nothing at all. It seems that the trigger is not firing.
    Can anyone help me, please?
    Thanx, Gracias!!

    Hi Sid
    1. Check if your .EAR file has a .WAR file for the WebServices. It should have a war file. And open war file like in winzip and under Web-Inf you should see a WSDL folder that should have .wsdl and .xsd files etc. Open this .wsdl and look at the URL. Try opening that URL in the browser.
If you EAR do not have WAR file. Select your application -> Right click properties -> Deployment and select your deployment profile and under Application Assembly make sure to check the box for your webservices project.
From Weblogic Admin Console, make sure your EAR is deployed successfully and there also you can expand it and see the WAR module under this. And you should be able to test your webservice wsdl from this war file from one of the tabs in weblogic console.
    Thanks
