Upgrading 4.0.1 to what vers. is comp. with OS X 10.5

I am in the process of upgrading my computer. I have iMovie 4.0.1. What version is good, and compatible with OS 10.5? Am I going to need to look for iLife 06 and 08?
It looks like iLife 09- iMovie is not compatible because it asks for a PPC with at least a dual 2.0 processor.
Looking for a recommendation.
System info: PPC G5, dual 1.8, running jaguar 10.3.9, but am upgrading to 10.5.

I would look for a copy of iLife '06 (maybe eBay or others).
You'll be familiar with the interface and the features. Many people didn't like the changes that came with iMovie '08 but it does allow more "modern" camera support than any of the older iMovie versions.
As the older cameras die support for them does too. The key piece of advise for a new camera is a "FireWire" connection.

  • When upgrading to LR 4.x, what do I do with previous versions of LR saved on my hard drive?

I have the last version of LR 3 installed on my PC.  When I upgrade to LR 4.x, should I delete all previous versions of LR from my PC hard drive?

You can, but it's not mandatory. Generalyl it's a good idea to keep old versions around for a while in case there are issues while migrating to the new version... If you uninstall, do so before installing the new version to avoid issues with busted file associations and the like. Just make sure to back up your catalogs and settings properly...

  • Thinking of upgrading to Final Cut X  what do I do with FCP 6

I'm thinking of upgtading from FCP Suite 2 to FCPX
do i keep the previous version ?

Yes.  There's no reason to get rid of it.  They can both operate on the same system.  When you download and install FCPX, it will move your Studio apps into a folder called, Final Cut Studio.

How can I remove this new Kitkat upgrade and go back to what I had. I cannot deal with the color on text screen and the keyboard is terrible. Can take back all the stupid pictures they added for texting. Just need it back to what it was.

I would think, Twins1995, that if we are having the problem, others are as well. Hopefully, Apple will shortly issue a follow-up software release to fix the problem. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part.
It would be helpful, if there were some kind of work-around in the interim, so we can use our devices. Pretty frustrating when you consider that all of the hardware and software is produced by Apple.

  • I need to upgrade my MacBook late 2008, what are my options

I need to upgrade my MacBook late 2008, what are my options. I have already upgraded RAM to 4 GB some 4 years ago. Also replaced HDD to 1TB, but ended up with a slower response. I am looking to switch the HDD again to speed up the performance. Any suggestions?
I am open to upgrade the hardware, what options do I have?
    Motherboard?
    HDD?
Anyway I can increase RAM from 4 GM to higher?
    Appreciate tips...

It was a mistake on my part, I tried reinstalling the RAM chips... I love the speed now...
next step to switch to 1TB SSD.... Another $700.00 and my 6+ year McBook will be new again

I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?
Because of the price I'm not interested in solid state drives, unless of course you want to send me $1,000.
I've already got external drives but I take my mini back and forth to work and don't want to carry those drives with me.
I'm not interested in buying a laptop. My mini works great so why waste $1,000 or more when I can buy a 1 to 3 TB hdd for under $300 and have exactly what I want. My late 2009 Mac Mini with a large hdd.
I went to Crucial's website and they can't tell me what drives fit my Mac Mini. That's where I got my ram (8GB). I'm ONLY interested in name brand quality HDDs.

The limiting factor in your 2009 mini is the max 9.5mm drive thickness.
One of the largest capacity 2.5" drives that meets this criteria is the HGST (formerly Hitachi) at 1.5GB
Any reputable SATA HDD you can find that is not thicker then this 9.5mm will work.

Look at this similar problem in getting Netflix on an iPad 1. Same technique should work for you.

  • Install instructions for CS6 upgrade for WIndows missing - in what order should files be run?

After over 14 days of dealing with the idiots at Adobe Support, opening and closing of 2 cases multiple times, promised emails not being sent (and being blamed for having my email set up to filter out Adobe emails), attempts to charge me for the already approved "free" upgrade, and then having an order for a physical disk version of the CS6 upgrade cancelled by some bonehead, I finally was able to download the CS6 upgrade files.  Only to discover that there are no installation instructions for Windows if you did not use the Akamai download manager (which I did not).
There are a total of 6 files in the download directory, all downloaded from the CS6 upgrade download page.
    - In what order should the files be run?  Just run the .exe files, or do some files need to be extracted/unzipped first?
A second question: my CS5.5 version was never installed, and never registered.
    - Will the CS6 upgrade accept its serial number directly, or do I have to do something else through Adobe Support?

Which files: all of them on the CS6 Production Premium upgrade download page.
    ProductionPremium_CS6_LS7.7z
    ProductionPremium_CS6_LS7.exe
    PremierePro_6_Content_LS7.7z
    PremierePro_6_Content_LS7.exe
    Illustrator_16_Content_LS16.exe
    Download_and_Install_Instruction_all.pdf
    The last one is useless.
The Speech Analyzer Models were downloaded separately, from another page.  I assume they should be installed after everything else is installed and working.

    Hello,
There is no upgrade path available from Macromedia Contribute 3 to Adobe Contribute 6.5. However you can buy the latest version of Contribute which is 6.5 from the link mentioned below.

Adobe only sell the latest version of Creative Suite which is CS6 so you can't buy CS5 anymore. Upgrades are also only available from CS5 to CS6 so CS3 wouldn't qualify anyway.
I'm afraid you are out of luck.

    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
If this is a company computer or is used with company software, I suggest you do not upgrade to Mavericks without first checking with your company. Older software may not work with Mavericks. Some of it may need upgrading, and that may be something your company is unwilling to pay for.
