Upgrading 9.0.1.4.0 Repository database to 10g - - Is there any issues?
I have installed 10103 grid control. It comes with a default 9.0.1.4.0 repository database.
Can I upgrade this 9.0.1.4.0 repository db to 10g? Will it effect the Grid Control?
regards,
Lily
Hello,
Yes you can upgrade from *9.0.1.4* to 10.2.0.x Release:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14238/preup.htm#CEGEIBHC
If you are not in *9.0.1.4* you should apply this Patch Set first to the Database.
Please find enclosed the introduction of the Database Upgrade Guide for Oracle *10.2* :
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14238/intro.htm#sthref8
You'll see there're several methods DBUA , export/import , ... this guide will help you to choose the one which fit your need.
Hope this help.
Best regards,
Jean-Valentin

Is there any impact on database if we change the time of server?
Hi,
Our DB server time is 45 minutes ahead of our application server. We have planned to reset the time of database server. Is there any impact on database if we change the timing of the server?

SQL> select systimestamp from dual;
SYSTIMESTAMP

Oracle doesn't care what time it is or when the time changes. Your application(s), however, may care. If you use SYSDATE to populate a row and rely on the date later to be unique or to indicate the actual order rows were inserted, changing the date on the server, particular moving it backwards, might cause problems for your application. Does your application have problems running during daylight savings time changes?

Major upgrade, any issues?
Our studio is about to under take a major upgrade with machines and software. We're upgrading our macs from G4's to intel G5's and the software from CS2 to CS4.
Are there any issues? I've heard there is a major issue regarding fonts?
Thanks in advance.
Chrischris,
The only "major issue" you have with fonts (standard Type 1, TrueType or OpenType) is incorrect installation, duplicate activation, or corrupted fonts.
The only "common" exceptions that come to mind involves Eras and Optima if you have their original Type 1 versions dating back to the 1980s. Or if you acquire questionable fonts from less-than-stellar foundries.

I upgraded to Yosemite and have lost my address book. Is there any way to retrieve the information it contained?
There is nothing in the contact app and the backup seems to have disappeared, too.

Any issue upgrading to Mountain Lion on a 15 inch MBP
I haven't upgraded to Mountain Lion yet and I'm considering doing it. Any issues I should know about? I have a Mid 2010 MBP 15 inch. Thanks!
Not really.
Repair the hard drive and permissions.
Make a cloned backup using Disk Utility.
Purchase and download Mountain Lion.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

I installed EM10gR3 on Linux. I chose Install Grid Control using a New Database option. The database is 10.1.0.4. How can I upgrade repository database to 10.2.0.3? Shall I install Oracle 10.2.0.3 and then use dbua to upgrade?
Thanks,
KevinYes. But first of all check that the 10.2.0.3 Repository is compartible with 10.2.0.3 database. You will find this in the Installation Guide. Then use any upgrade type (DBUA, Upgrade Script etc) to upgrade the database.

Upgrading 12c repository database
Hi All,
I have a oem12c installation(12.1.0.2),using 11.2.0.2 database as repository.
Platform Solaris-10
I am planning to upgrade the database 11.2.0.3.
Checked in MOS to see if there are any special pre/post steps for EM repository database, but no luck...
Is it like any other database upgrade? or do we need to do any special steps for OMS/plugins/mgmt packs etc?
Thanks in advance...Its just like any other database upgrade. Do take backup of whole database before you start the DB upgrade.

Repository Database shows at wrong version in Grid Control
Hi all,
I have successfully installed Grid Control and have upgraded the repository database to version 10.2.0.3. When I log into sqlplus to check the version number fit shows 10.2.0.3, but when I look at the database in Grid Control it is displaying as 10.2.0.1.
Does anyone have any idea why that would happen? Where does GC get its information from?
Thanks,
PaulaIt is also worth mentioning that when I used DBUA to upgrade the repository database from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3 the EM config part failed. Having googled this it seems that this is fine for a Grid Control repository database, as it does not have an EM db console element to it anyway and therefore it cannot be upgraded, but I thoguht I best mention that in case it has a bearing on this issue.
thanks,

Repository database backward compatiblity.
Repository db: 10.2.0.4
OS: AIX 5.3
Target DB : 10.2.0.2
Hello Folks,
My repository database is 10.2.0.4 and catalog resides on that server, I have few target databases which is are on 10.2.0.2 and I am planning to upgrade all to 10.2.0.4, due to restriction from application side, I am not able to upgrade it to 10.2.0.4 so planning to use new upgraded (10.2.0.4) catalog repositry database.
My question is, Is it possible to have target database (10.2.0.2) has metadata information in 10.2.0.4 repository database? Any suggestion ?
Thanks.Hi HG,
Recovery, cloning it all works as long as you recover/restore the database to the same rdbms version it had during the backup.
Also note the oradba's message about the rman executable version which is upwards compatible.
You could run all rman backups from one central server but you have to take into account the executable version is, within limits, on an equal or a lower version than the target rdbms.
(see metalink note 73431.1).

Oracle 6i designer repository in a 10g database
Hi All,
Is there anyone who has the 6i repository in a 10g database? On Metalink Certification, it lists 10.1.0.3 as desupported. But that's probably because the designer tool is no longer certified...
Can anyone comment?
Thanks.Hi
I'm just in the process of testing the upgrade of a 6i repository into a 10g one on a 10gR2 database. This means I have a 6i repos in a 10g database ... and it seems to work ok - in that I can open things and navigate around. That's just information for you syaing that it doesn't blow up with errors straightaway !

Grid Control 10.2.0.5 patchset fails for 11g repository database
Installing GridControl 10.2.0.5 on Windows 2003 Server SP2. Initial install successful of 10.2.0.2 using existing database 11.1.0.7. The database was created new to use for GC. Patchset no problems until Configuration Assitant step "Repository Upgrade" failed with errors:
rem Copyright (c) 1999, 2009, Oracle. All rights reserved.
oracle.sysman.emcp.oms.RepositoryPatchUpgrade -verbose
oracle.sysman.emcp.oms.OmsPatchUpgrade -configureOms
oracle.sysman.emcp.aggregates.ConfigPlugIn

oracle.sysman.emcp.oms.EMCLISetup
oracle.sysman.ccr.configCCR.ConfigCCRPlugIn
oracle.sysman.ccr.configCCR.ConfigRepeaterPlugIn
Tried to find cause of errors and cannot seem to understand why this step failed.
Considering uninstalling GC and Oracle 11g and reinstalling GC with "new database" option.
Anyone successful at installing GC 10.2.0.5 with an 11g database?
Thank you,
Curt Swartzlander
DBA10.2.0.5 Database is in extended support. Make sure to purchase the licensing.
You need to download the software by logging an SR with Oracle support to get delivered as DVD or through e-delivery.
But I would suggest you to upgrade to 11.2.0.3.
Upgrading 10g Grid Control repository database is doing a normal database upgrade.
