Upgrading 9iAS iFS 1.1 to iFS 1.2

9iAS is installed on Solaris. It is running iFS 1.1. I would
like to de-install iFS 1.1 and install iFS 1.2.
Is this supported? or possible?
I run the OUI and select the iFS 1.1 component only, then select
remove. Why does the entire 9iAS need to be de-installed as
well?
If I keep the 9iAS installation with iFS 1.1 and install iFS 1.2
which takes presidence. Can I run both?
Regards,
AJC

However, Apache 2.2 is the most current version, and
I'd really like to upgrade. Do I simply install 2.2
from scratch?
You install it from scratch (compile it), yes. Simply, maybe
Do I upgrade? Are there any common
stumbling blocks?
I don't know about issues with apache2.2 on os x per se, but you will have a learning curve if you aren't familiar with compiling binaries from source, in general.

  • How to upgrade Oracle iFS 9.0.1 to  Oracle Collaboration 10G ?

    Dear experts,
    I am looking a way to upgrade 9iFS 9.0.1 to the recent Content Management service(CMS) of Oracle Collaboration Suite 10G (10.1.2).
    Can someone tell me how to do this?
    I read the Oracle Collaboration Suite 10G installation guide, it indicated that the upgrade path from Collaboration 9.0.3.1, 9.0.4.1 or 9.0.4.2 to 10.1.2 are supported.
    I also read the CMS installation guide fro CMS 9.0.3, and 9.0.4, 9.0.4.2, they indictae that indicated that upgrade from iFS 9.01. to CMS 9.0.3, CMS 9.0.4 or CMS 9.0.4.2 are supported.
    But I couldn't fins information about how to upgrade Oracle 9iFS or CMS to Oracle Files (Collbaoration Suite 9i R1) 9.0.3 or R2 (9.0.4).
    My questions are
    1. Is Oracle Files 9.0.3 same as CMS 9.0.3?
    2. If they are different, How Can I upgrade 9iFS 9.0.1 to Oracle Files 9.0.3? so I can continue to upgrade to OCS 10g R2?
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    I think you should contact ORacle support on that point.

  • Upgrade 9iAs to 10gAS

    Helo All,
    I have a query hope to get solved over here
    I have installed 9iAS (9.0.2) and 9iDB on a single machine on win2k platform. Now I would like to upgrade my 9iAS to 10g since im getting some problems and prevailing bugs in 9iAS.
    My Question here is
    1. Do I need to reformat the whole thing I mean take db back up and application back up and reformat the whole hard disk and install fresh 10g the the database.
    2. Or can i keep the existing database intact as it is and go for an upgrade with the 10g on the existing 9iAS.
    3. If i can upgrade on the existing 9iAS to 10 how can I do that. Just put the CD and run the 10g Installation?
    Can anyone help me out for a safe upgrade from 9iAs to 10gAs
    Thanks & Regards

    Portal is just a component of AS. You would upgrade to 10gAS R2. The link I provided shows the version paths you could take based on your original version.
    At any rate, see the 10.1.2.0.2 upgrade guide:

  • Upgrade 9iAS Install Type

    We have a 9iAS installation (v2) on Solaris that is for Portal and Wireless.
    Can I upgrade this to Business Intelligence and Forms
    or a Unified Messaging type without a re-install?
    Thanks
    Dinesh

    Yes, you can "expand" from lower mid tier install to a higher mid tier install in the same version of the software without deinstall/reinstalling it.
    Simply start the installer and point to this Oracle Home and select upper mid tier install type.

  • Upgrade 9iAS R1 to 10gAS R3

    hi,
    we're planning to upgrade our current application sever from 9iAS R1 running on Windows 2000 to 10G AS R3 (preferably on Linux), our application was built using Oracle Forms 6i and Reports 6i.
    What should be our upgrade path? Do we need to re-compile our forms and reports programs?
    I would appreciate it so much if anyone could point me to any documentation I could refer to as I am having problems sorting out results from my oracle search (tried google too!)
    TIA :)

    You can't upgrade to 10gR3 v10.1.3.x if you have Forms and Reports based application. The latest production version of OAS that contains Forms and Reports is 10gR2 v10.1.2. For upgrading from 9iAS to 10gR2 start here:

  • Error after upgrading 9IAS 9.0.3.0.0 to 10.1.2

    Hi Team

    /u02/oracle/product/OAS-10.1.2/Apache/Apache/bin/apachectl startssl: execing httpd

    Any help would be appreciated

    is Apache starting or not ?
    Anyway it's a warning not an error. Check recursively through all the httpd.conf ->mod_xxx.conf > mod_xxxx.conf
    i.e. read through all the includes. You will find that mod_oc4j is loaded more than once.

  • How do you upgrade ifs data from 1.1.9 to 9.0.1 ?

    We are upgrading the underlying database from 8.1.7 to Oracle 9.2.0 and we need to transfer the ifs data (files, user, acls...) to ifs 9.0.1.
    Please advise...
    Lionel

    Thanks Matt for your answer but we did actually look at the Administrator's Guide (http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ifs/doc_library/901/Setup%20and%20Administration%20Guide/Output/toc.htm) and a lot of other documents (http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ifs/content.html) and there is really nothing about migrating data from ifs 1.1.9 to 9.0.1. The only solution we have at hand right now is to dump all files, all users and all acls programmatically and re-import them to 9.0.1 which will take a really long time to develop and execute. Is there a way to just upgrade the ifs schema to a 9.0.1 ifs schema?. This looks to me like a pretty basic request for all existing ifs 1.1.9 customers to be able to simply migrate to 9.0.1. We should not have to extract the whole thing and re-import to migrate. Anybody has any experience with this kind of migration ?
    Thank you for your help,
    Lionel

  • IFS 9 : TNS:could not resolve service name

    Hello,
    I have this message when Trying to connect in Java to IFS 1.2 :
    oracle.ifs.common.IfsException: IFS-21008: Unable to connect to
    iFS service
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service
    name
    I have been developing with IFS 1.16 for a while but now I have
    to upgrading to IFS 9 (1.2). To set up my development
    environment I did the same thing that I did for the version 1.1.6
    1-     Copying all Jar from D:\oracle\ora90\9ifs\lib and I had
    them to my classpath
    2-     Copying the folders under D:\oracle\ora90\9ifs\settings
    to have access to the IfsDefault.properties. file.
    3-     I got the new JDBC driver and Oracle Client 9 on my
    developer station.
    IfsDefault.properties is pointing to the right TSN. When I test
    my TSN (orcl) with the SQL+ it works just fine. I tried to use a
    Invalid Ifs Service Name instead of IfsDefault too see if I got
    a different error message and no, I got the same error. It looks
    like the environment doesn’t find the IfsDefault.properties
    file ?
    Any Idea of it could be ?
    There is the code that I use to connect :
    LibraryService service = new LibraryService();
    CleartextCredential cred = new CleartextCredential
    (username, password);
    ConnectOptions options = new ConnectOptions();
    options.setLocale(Locale.getDefault());
    options.setServiceName(repository);
    options.setServicePassword(repositoryPass);
    _ifsSession = service.connect(cred, options);
    // Doit mettre explicitement le Admin flag dans la
    Session
    DirectoryUser user = _ifsSession.getDirectoryUser();
    _ifsSession.setAdministrationMode(user.isAdminEnabled
    _logger.info("user " + user +"  is now connected to
    Ifs " + repository + ", " + _loggedUserCounter + " connected.");
    Thank you

    Looks like your TNSnames is not properly configured .. Did you
    try to do a sqlplus from the command prompt to see if you can
    connect to SQLPlus ??

  • IFS 1.1.9

    I recently upgraded to iFS 1.1.9 after which I deleted an admin user that I had used to setup Groups/Users and ACLS.

    The admin user I deleted was not the system user. It was one I created myself after the install.
    I have taken drastic action and deleted the iFS database and re-installed the product at 1.1.9.
    All OK so far!!!

  • Migrating from ifs 1.1.9 to 9ifs ?

    Hello,
    We want to update from ifs 1.1.9 to 9ifs. Since we've got already quite large amounts of data (inkl. MetaData) within the ifs repository, we need to find a way to move the data from the old ifs to the new one.
    The migration section in the Installation Guide suggests to use SMB or FTP to transfer the data. But this kills all our custom classes and metadata.
    Does anybody 've got an idea ?
    Cheers,
    Jens

    There is no migration necessary for upgrading from iFS 1.1.9 to 9iFS (version 9.0.1). The steps to upgrade are:
    1. backup everything you have (as always)
    2. upgrade the database to at least 8.1.7.2 (9i is recommended)
    3. install (upgrade) the iFS software to 9.0.1
    4. upgrade the iFS schema
    step 4 is the most important and what you seem to be concerned about. not to worry -- the schema upgrade will preserve all of your data including metadata.
    and it's very easy, the whole thing is automatic.

    Please contact Oracle support immediately. An upgrade should not normally generate messages such as the ones you are seeing. You will need the assistant of Oracle support to work through the issues.
    Possible resolutions that support will investigate
    1. Making sure you are running the very latest upgrade scripts
    2. Investigate if any oneoff patches have been released for situations you are running into.
    3. Log bugs for issues which have not been seen before and work with you until they are resolved.

  • Which DB version to use for Oracle CMSDK

    Hi ,
    We are planning to upgrade our iFS 9.0.1 instance to CMSDK.The current configuration has
    1) iFS 9.0.1
    2) DB 9.0.1.1
    I'm wondering which is the best configuration for the upgrade.
    CMSDK(9.0.3)
    With
    1) 9.0.1 DB
    2) 9.2
    3) 9.2.0.3
    We tried 9.2 since it has significant bug fixes ,but we can't do late binding context search with this configuration due to bug. Has anyone tried the CMSDK with 9.2.0.3 Version.
    Looking forward for your replies.
    Thanks
    Rajesh Basawa

    Please read the installation guide for details:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/A96699_01/toc.htm
    It states that you may use Oracle Database version 9.0.1 or above, so I would say that you may use any of the 3 versions you suggest. The later version the better, so I would recommend 9.2.0.3.
    Just make sure you follow the installation guide and ensure that all database, hardware, and operating system requirements are met.
