Upgrading a Car Kit from Nokia 6310i to Nokia 6680

I drive a Mercedes E320 which has a fitted car kit which takes a Nokia 6310i in a cradle. This works very well and is integrated to the car radio etc, it is not a Mercedes kit as it does not integrate to the Mercedes Command System (i.e. I can not push the button on the steering wheel to answer calls etc). I think it is Nokia Car Kit but I can not be sure as it is hidden under stacks of plastic and leather and it will be a devil of a job just to find the box.
Last year I upgraded to a Nokia 6680 (my trusty 6310i having decided to retire) and given the law on use of phone in cars I thought it about time I put a new car kit in the Merc, (I cant do with things in my ears, so headsets are out of the question). I have bought a CK-7W and the cradle for the 6680 but as it is going to be a difficult job to locate and replace the whole system (or expensive if I have the dealer do it) the question I want to ask is simple. Is it possible to just CUT the cables between the different cradles and thereby join the new 6680 cradle to the existing 6310i car kit, (I am quite proficient with a soldering iron and heat shrink tubing). OK, I know this is a bit Heath Robinson but if it will work then it will save me a whole load of time and inconvenience, or a whole stash of money as I don’t relish the thought of ripping out a Mercedes dashboard just to find the car kit
If it is possible does anyone know the cable colours (if they are not the same, between 6310i and 6680).
Thanks
David

Hi
The new cradle (CA27) will not work with the old car kit (assuming its the CARK-91).
But If you can locate the CARK-91 control box behind the dash (my guess is that it will be near the radio of behind the glove box), there is no need for cutting/ joining of wires.
Autoleads make an adaptor from the old Nokia 6-pin to the new 4-pin connector.
Its simply then a case of replacing the phone cradle, replacing the control box with CK-7W, swapping the other connectors (mic, speaker), plugging in the converter, and away you go.
Search for "06-208B Autoleads Adaptors" in Google for the converter (be careful - there is another adaptor that is 4-pin to 6-pin

  • Car kit microphone not working after nokia softwar...

I have a Nokia 5800 Express Music. It was working perfect in my car Bluetooth system. Recently I updated my software version to 60.0.003.  Now the microphone is not working while using the car Bluetooth system.  I can hear the caller voice but they can’t listen what I say.  All other phones are still working perfect with Bluetooth System. Therefore I think some bug is there with this software update. I tried changing Accessories settings to Headset, Wireless Car Kit etc., but still the problem exist.
Please me to find some way to make the mic working or else help me to downgrade my phone software to earlier version.

    please somebody help.......

  • Nokia 6310i and Nokia content copier

My phone doesn't get to the welcome message when switched on, only the screen blinks four times.
I obtained a newer 6310i handset and wanted to update the content information from my old phone. Both phones were working beforehand with their respective SIM cards. I loaded the latest versionof the Nokia PC suite from the realted link on the Nokia 6310i support site and successfully copied the data to my PC using the content copier as part of the PC suite. I then started reverse process to load the data from the PC to the new phone. I selected the file from the loaction they were stored and started the process. Towards the end of the process the content copier gave an error on the lines that the connection had been lost. I stopped the process and then looked at the phone which had a blank screen. Thinking that the power may habe been lost or the sim card not seated, I then powered the phone on/off, took the battery out checked the sim card, but still no joy. I then changed the sim card over with the other handset to establish that this was OK;it was and put the old sim in the new phone; that didn't work. I am now stuck with a handset that doesn't power up and go to the welcome screen; it can only be charged. When changing it does beep and show the charging bar.
It looks like the phone software is corrupt, can I power the phone up another way or get the software fixed? Are there codes you can enter to reset the handset?

As the 6310i is a rather old model, early 2000's as I recall from memory, there's not much you can do except to check that you have the most recent firmware available for your phone. But since it is an old phone, support for the model may (and probably has) been taken down by Nokia. The only option you have then really is to ask at your local Nokia Care Centre, otherwise I would recommend buying a new Nokia phone anyway.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • CAR KIT 6310i - ADAPT FOR 6230i?

I have a professionally fitted Nokia car kit for a 6310i - fitted about 5 years old.
Is there a simple way to adapt this for my new 6230i either wired-in or bluetooth?
Would be grateful for any advice from car kit experts out there

This may not work, if your 6310i car kit has old software then it will not work with 6230i, it will say 'enhacement not supported', if you do buy the above items make sure you can return them if they do not work. The only other solution is to buy a new CK-7W car kit which dosn't cost that much more for the bits and is guarenteed to work with your phone and future phones hopefully. The choice is yours.

  • Car kit cradle upgrade

Can I get an Upgrade cradle for Nokia N73 for an existing Car Kit HFU4, previously used with Nokia 6230i

HFU-4 is the control unit for the Cark-126 car kit and there is no Nokia cradle for the N73.
Brodit make a cradle for the N73 that connects with the Pop Port cable from the Ck-7W
    http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/fitting_Instructions/Mounts.asp?Brodit=905120&Make=Nokia&Model...
I am not 100% sure but maybe this will work? Maybe you will need to swap cable? Perhaps Dannyboy can confirm this?

  • Car-kit conversion 6310i to E70

I don't have a Nokia Car kit for my 6310i, but one tied into my Sat-Nav (VDO Dayton), also I do want my E70 to charge.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to simply cut the connector off the CARK-91 end of something like this ( http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/5862.htm ) and wire it onto the old D connector that goes into the Sat-Nav?
I've found pin-outs here: http://pinouts.ru/CellularPhones-Nokia/nokia_5110_6110_pinout.shtml and here: http://pinouts.ru/CellularPhones-Nokia/nokia_pop_pinout.shtml . I could do the soldering job myself but would need confirmation of the connections...
A converter cradle would be good, like this: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/5134.htm , but I can't find one that will take the E70!
My installer is telling me simply to buy a new Nokia kit, and forget the links to the Sat-Nav...
    Thanks, for any replies

Although it may appear that you can just change the wires around, this method will not work because the software in you sat nav is designed for Nokia 6310i. You will have to buy a new stand alone handsfree kit for your E70.

  • Car kit cradle-adaptor for 6230

please can someone tell me what i need for my car kit at the moment i have a 3310 system but have bought a 6230 and need some sort of adaptor for the cradle that is in the car as it is a different plug ect can you let me know where i can buy ect

There are some cradles available to just plug in but they are not made by Nokia and there is quality issues. I would best advise you to upgrade you car kit to a new ck-7w, so you can guarentee compatability and make full use of you 6230i features, this kit will be easily upgraded next time you change phones so is a good investment.

  • Nokia 6310i with the earphone

I have 2 questions for those, who happen to use Nokia 6310i with NOKIA HDC-9 (or other) wired earphone.
    1. When there's an incoming call, can I also hear my phone ringing in the earphone?
    2. How about alarm-clock, can I hear its alarm also in the earphone?
    Thank you.

I am a newby to this board. I have a very narrow question. I have just bought a used car that has installed kit set up for a Nokia 6301i. As this appears to be an old model I want to buy a new one that will function in the car set-up. Will a Nokia 6201 work in the 6301i car set-up? Is there a better alternative to the 6201 without changing thr car kit? I don't need any fancy functions merely the phone.
Thanks for your consideration and help, if possible.

  • Bluetooth Car kit

Is anyone having an issue with the iphone synching with your bluetooth car kit. I have an after market motorola HF850 car kit from my other blackberry pearl and I did not have any problems with that 200 dollar phone. Now with this 400 and change phone I can't do the things that my half the price phone could.
    Help

I've tried connecting to my bluetooth kit, now that I've upgraded to 1.1.3, and I was able to make one call successfully. However, that was it. Otherwise, the phone does the same things as before - mainly it keeps trying to connect to the BT kit.
APPLE: _fix this, please_. We didn't drop all this money on a phone so that it wouldn't work with our bluetooth accessories (which, BTW, the car kit wasn't exactly chump change, either).

  • 1.1.3 and Parrot Bluetooth car kit problems and solution

I've discovered a potential fix with help from the good folks at Parrot Bluetooth devices technical support. The main issue with version 1.1.3 upgrade and car kits appears to be when the iPhone attempts to sync contacts with the BT device. Apparently, something changed in 1.1.3 about how Apple sent contacts through BT. To fix it on a Parrot car kit, first delete the iPhone from the list of paired devices on the car kit. Then unpair the car kit on the iPhone. Pair the two devices following your devices instructions, only with contact synchronization disabled. On my 3200LS this meant selecting "Disable Synchro" from the phone pairing list. The connection was quick and rock solid after doing this.
I have seen reports of this same solution working with Ford Sync devices also, and it may address some of the Garmin issues too. Obviously, this isn't ideal since you won't have any contacts or at least will have to manually enter them on your device. But it should get you through until Apple devises a fix in a near future (hint Apple) upgrade.

    Klash,
Try updating to iPhone 1.1.4, and see if your issue is resolved.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

Please stop posting in ALL UPPER CASE; it is considered SHOUTING, is harder to read, and is considered rude.
If you have not yet done so unpair the car kit from the phone, or better yet reset it completely, Forget the car kit in the iPhone, and pair it anew.

  • Pairing iPhone 3 with Samsung HKT450 Bluetooth Car Kit

I just bought a Samsung HKT450 Bluetooth Car Kit from New Egg. The device goes into pairing mode, but my iPhone 3, when I set it to search, it searches then goes back to off not showing the device to pair. I can repeat this everytime while the device is in pair mode. What am I doing wrong?

I tried that. My wife has two bluetooth earpieces, a Motorola and Jabra. Neither paired. The funny thing is the Samsung device paired with both of her Blackberrys. Go figure!

  • Info on car kit

hi there, i'm hoping that you might be able to help. i'm not a user of an in car kit so i'm a bit dumb when it comes to them... (i'm possibly assuming that they are more complicated than they actually are!)
my father in-law has a nokia 3120 and has asked us to find him a replacement phone (he doesn't want or need anything too fancy). we've been looking at the 6230i, the only snag is that he has recently purchased a new car which has an in car kit already built in and by chance this happens to fit the old phone & he wants to keep it. we dont know what model the car kit is (it has a cradle & you just plug in and talk) so i'm not sure whether the 6230i is compatible or not.
can anyone advise as i'm not really sure whether to start!
    thanks

I think you have a cark-132 or 134 because the the 3120 has a headphone socket and power socket on the bottom and will work with these kits although the phone is not a perfect fit. Unfortunatly there is not new phones that will fit in this car kit, sorry.

  • Upgrade a Nokia 6310i car kit to a new Nokia?

I bought a car with a car kit installed which fitted a Nolia 6310i. I then bought a CARK 91 kit so I could use my Nokia 3410. I want to upgrade my phone to something like a N96 or even a Samsung or Sony Ericsson, however do I need to have my car kit taken out and a new one installed, or can they just replace the handset holder?

The cark-91 is not upgradeable to work with any of the phones you listed, As Okinawa has mentioned above, click the link to view all the new Nokia car kits, there new kits will work with any of the phones you have listed.
