Upgrading a hp dv6 6060sa graphics

Can i upgrade my 1gb raedon graphics on my dv6 to 2gb what kind of graphics cards should i be looking for and are they easy to install

Hi,
Normally upgrading graphics card for a NORMAL laptop is a no no situation and impossible in many cases. In your case, you may have to upgrade the cooling system (fan, heat sink assembly), and probvably a new mother/system board.
In short: buy a new machine such as one of these for gameming:

  • DV6-6060sa Do I have discrete graphics memory or UMA graphics memory? + Where is 'System Fan 'B''

    Hi There,
I am going to attempt replacing a fan on my Pavilion DV6-6060sa Laptop, I have been looking around on the net and have just now read through the service manual to better understand which component needs replacing.
I am going to be changing system fan 'B', as the error message states at start-up. (I have tried compressed air spray through the air vents but this has not worked.)
In order for me to purchase the correct part number I need to know whether I have Discrete memory or UMA memory.
As stated above I have a Pavilion DV6-6060sa unit, the below snippet is from the service manual.
    (12) Fan/heat sink assembly (includes replacement thermal material):
For use only with computer models equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650
    graphics subsystems
    518435-001
For use only with computer models equipped with graphics subsystems with discrete
    graphics memory
    512837-001
For use only with computer models equipped with graphics subsystems with UMA
    graphics memory
    512830-001
Could you let me know which part number I require, and also send me a link for an original HP replacement part please?
The fan I will be replacing is the fan closes to the power button, looking down at the laptop from a birds eye view it is located on the upper left corner. The two vents (one on the left and one on the top) usud to have air forced out from the fan, which is now not working. I take it this is system fan 'B' and is the heat sink?
Please can you confirm the above information?
Specifically Including a description of which fan system fan 'B' is? (thank you)
    I appreciate your help, Simon.

    Hi,
90B is the error code, not the location of the fan.

  • Can I upgrade my Sony Laptop's Graphic Card?

My laptop is relatively new and I only bought it a few months ago, model #VPCEB. It currently has a 512 MB ATI Radeon HD 5470 which I want to upgrade so I can have StarCraft II run smoothly because it is kind of choppy right now. I just want to know, is there a way I can actually upgrade my computer and what would be a good graphics card?

It used to be that some laptops would come with 2-3 options of graphics chipsets, and you could swap between them, plus manufacturers might use the same form factor for a series of laptops (For example, all Dell Inspiron 8000 series units used the same card form factor - so you could upgrade an I8000 to the graphics chipset that came with the I8200).  This is no longer the case, even the highend gaming laptops don't have upgradeable graphics.

The RAM can be upgraded as indicated below. The Graphics card can not be upgraded.
    Maximum Memory

  • How to upgrade my Macbook Pro's Graphic Card?

    I have a Early 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro and it's ***** when I play games.
    Here are the specs:
    - 2.8 GHz dual-core Intel Core i7
    - 6 GB RAM
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    - OSX Mavericks 10.9.2
    - 750 GB HDD 1333 MHz DDR3
It lags a lot when I play such an old games such as GTA Vice City (the FPS drops a lot when my mac getting hot) or GTA San Andreas (quite stable). Both of them aren't modded and still original. Is there any way to upgrade my Macbook Pro's graphic card?

You cannot upgrade the Graphics card on a laptop because everything is built into the logic board. Unfortunately your perticular graphics chip is actually built into the CPU, and is a very low performing chip which would definately make gaming hard.
    Sorry for the bad news.

Hello is there a way i can replace and upgrade my HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl's graphics card? I would like to play some of the newer games on the market but the graphics card seems to be holding me back. If there isn't a way I can replace it, is there a way to raise it without physically replacing the part?

    Hi,
No, you can't, the "Intel HD Graphics 3000" is soldered to the otherboard. Actually we can't change video card on nearly all laptops.

  • Need an upgrade! any ideas what graphics card can fit and work good in my computer?

I am upgrading my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook and I have a Intel Family HD graphics card and I would like to upgrade it.
I want a gaming graphics card that can fit into my computer and not go over the price of $250.
    Please help me!

    Hi,
Unfortunately, your existing graphics chip is integrated into the Motherboard and as such is not an upgradeable component - neither is there a suitable slot to be able to connect a discrete card.

  • Can I upgrade my laptop to 2gb Graphics Support?

I'm using HP 2227tu Laptop. As laptop provides 1.66GB Intel HD Graphics 4000 (inbulit) but it is not sufficient to play high graphics games, so can I upgrade my laptop's graphics to 2GB ?

What is the complete product name or product number of your notebook? You left off the first section of the product name.
Lets start with you helping us by identifying your notebook completely.
HP has produced and brought to market more than a thousand different models of notebooks and desktop PCs over the years. It is difficult to help you if we don't know which specific model you own..
Method #1: If the notebook will boot into Windows, you can retrieve your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key.
    Method #2:
Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a Service tag with printed part number and a product name. Please post the p/n (with all alphanumeric characters) here. If you live outside of North America, it helps us if you post the country of purchase. Also post the installed CPU type. (AMD or Intel)
Don't forget to post the name of the installed operating system if you haven't already done that.

  • Windows 7 In Place Upgrade Pre-Windows boot and Graphics issue Alienware M17x

So I'm having multiple issues here.  The first issue surfaced immediately after I removed and reinserted my graphics card.  For reference The computer in question is an Alienware M17XR3 with an AMD 6870m.  Anyhow, The issue I had then was
that my built in display showed a black screen (would see a quick flicker of what was supposed to be on it when changing display settings but then a black screen) after Windows botted up.  I could use an external monitor with no problem, and safe mode
or Windows without graphics drivers allowed everything to run normally.  The on screen display also works normally on boot screens or boot disks such as the windows install disk and Hyrens boot CD.  I am assuming my graphics card is shot.  Either
that or my motherboard.  Input on this is greatly appreciated.  I do intend to upgrade it myself to a 6970m, but I won't have the money until another 1 or 2 paychecks roll around, and I woulld like to be able to use the on-screen display sooner than
    that.
Anyhow, to ensure that it is a hardware issue, rather than a software issue, I cleaned old drivers then installed drivers I knew were fully functional.  I did this several times with several driver versions.  Nothing yielded any results.  I
do not wish to do aclean install unless absolutely necessary or at least not until after the weekend, when I will have time to reinstall my 300+programs, games, themes, mods, etc.  I am not opposed to doing this but I need the computer tonight and
do not have time to do all that before then.  I'll be using it with an external display tonight, so the graphics issue can wait, however, to test with a clean install, I was using Aomei Partition Assistant to break off some free space as a second partition
on which I could install a second Windows 7 installation for testing purposes.  I have done this multiple times before.  Unfortunatly, on 4.5 hours of sleep and having been up for about 18 hours straight I wasn't thinking and forgot to plug my laptop
in.  It lost power during the process and the Windows installation is now totally glitched.  I've tried several fixes all to no avail and would prefer to avoid a clean install until after the weekend.
In Windows XP, I could boot from the install disk and perform a repair install, similar to the Windows 7 upgrade/in place upgrade.  I would like to do this, but seeing as I cannot access the Windows environment, I'm in a bit of a jam.  I could
run that program again from mini Windows XP (Hyren's Boot CD) I believe and create the second partition and dual boot.  My question is, can I drop the new Windows folder over the old one or do something similar to avoid losing my programs and files?  Thanks

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, we cannot just copy the windows folder to make programs work in the new operating system.
    Hope it helps.

  • Could i upgrade from my current laptop graphics to a Nvidia GTX 840m

I have a HP Pavillion 17-e153sa and i wondered if i could upgrade the graphics to a Nvidia GTX 840m, this is due to me want a better experience during gaming? As i do not know if it would invole me replacing the whole motherboard.

Anything like that would involve replacing the whole motherboard. The laptop is fairly new and the cost of swapping in another motherboard is going to be more than it would cost net to simply sell your laptop and buy one with the graphics you want/need.

  • Can't upgrade from 9.04 without graphical problems maybe from ATIextension?

    Hello,
I figured before I make the leap into purchasing a new machine (Mac or PC-still not sure) I'd post a reoccuring problem with my old Power Mac G4. I have tried on a number of occasions to upgrade from the 9.04 preinstalled system to 9.1 and then even higher. 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 to no success. I'll explain. Here are my machine specs:
    ---Power Mac G4
---400mhz (I believe it is an AGP Graphic not a PCI)
    ---512mb ram
---10gb hd, but i have a 120gb wd internal in the upper brack spot right above the 10g. I've been using the 120 gb split in 2 partitions as my 9.04 startup disk.
    ---external zip 250 usb attached.
---LaCie 52x cd burner attached via firewire
Everytime I try to run the update (and I have downloaded these more than once, thinking maybe it was corrupt on download) it leaves trails on my screen. For instance, when I scroll up and down in windows using the arrows all the text corrupts to the point you can't read it. If you move the windows around the screen that leaves trails and corrupts as well. I took some time and I think narrowed it down (maybe). If I remove the NEW ATI graphics extensions from the extensions folder (the ones from 9.1 install and replace them with the 9.04 (ones from my startup disk). The problem vanishes. So in a sense I'm running 9.1 with 9.04 ATI extensions. I did what the read me says for installing the update and I believe the firmware was up to date where it called for.
The overall hope was to maybe someday put OS X on this G4, which if I remeber correctly you're suppose to be able to do on a mac this old. But I'm having no luck what so ever.
Any help would be appreciated. Maybe I can keep this machine running a bit longer before having to invest in another one.
    Thanks again.

    Hi, Creative -
One thing that comes to mind is that OS 9 (at least 9.1 and later, maybe earlier, too) installs two ATI extensions when only one is needed, the one specific to the kind of graphics card in the machine. Having both active can cause some problems.
Specifically, the two extensions are named -
        ATI Rage 128 3D Accelerator
        ATI Radeon 3D Accelerator
Check in Apple System Profiler (on ASP's Devices & Volumes page, click the info triangles on the bus labelled PCI) to determine which card you have, Rage or Radeon, and then disable (or remove) the extension for the other kind of card.

  • Upgrade 2009 27" iMac's Graphics Card?

    Hello All
I have read many confusing posts about upgrading graphics cards in iMacs but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer yet as to whether i can do this.
    I have a Late 2009 27-inch iMac (model iMac10,1) with ATI Radeon HD 4670 256mb graphics.
I just need to know if it is possible before I buy a card and begin the tedious process of taking the computer apart, and which cards will work and are available for purchase.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    xeni

The processor is integral with and soldered to the logic board. It cannot be changed. You would ahve to get aq new logic boarda nd that is a significant portion of the cost of new uprated iMac with the specs you want.
The word is that Apple will only replace a defective GPU card with the same type and capacity, so I doubt they will help. Also the iMac does not use the common GPU cards as used in tower computers. It is a proprietary format with a crazy heat sink system:
The "card" is under the heat sink plate (lower right)
