  • Need recommendations: New graphics card for HPE-400y

Hi!  I'm in need of a new graphics card, but I don't know which one is best for my computer.  My computer is a Hewlett Packard  HPE-400y.   Click here for specs!
My computers has all the original parts except the PSU and HDD. I recently changed the PSU to a Corsair CX430.  The current hard drive is a WD Caviar Black 2TB.
I use my computer for Guild Wars 2, Maya (models and animation), Zbrush, Corel Painter, and Photoshop.
My current graphics card (Radeon HD 5450) has issues playing Guild Wars 2. The FPS is 30 or lower if I try to play the game with medium or high settings. The FPS also drops when I'm playing the group PVP event known as World Vs World. I often have to have the graphics on the lowest setting in order to get 30 -45 FPS.
You can find the Guild Wars 2 requirements here: GW2 official wiki -- requirements info

    Hi,
You should be able to get a double wide card in your PC.  Length may be a problem due to all of the cables. If the space below the optical drive is open then you might try to stuffing the extra cable lengths into that location.
BTW-- very nice photos.  Not many will go through the effort to do so.
Consider trying one of the below graphics.
MSI NVIDIA GTX N750 TI and the MSI GTX N750 TF  Both of these graphics cards are significantly faster then your existing 5450.
Know what the return policy is before your buy.
You have an excellent Corsair power supply. I would prefer that you had a 500 watt PSU so that the higher performing graphics cards could be tried.  This NVIDIA GTX 660 specifies at 450 watt minimum but the 12v amperage from your Corsair CX430 is more than sufficient.  It might be worth giving it a go.  It's about 50% faster than the above two graphics cards.  I typically don't recommend that graphics cards be used with PSUs below the graphics card manufacturer's minimum requirements but the Corsair CX430 should work.

  • HP Photsmart Printer D5360 Stopped automatic two sided Printing

Last week I had to purchase a new system. I got a HP Elite HPE 400y. I already had a HP Photosmart D5360 printer that automatically printed on both sides of the paper. Now that it is connected to the new Elite system the option for it to automatically print on both sides of the paper is no longer available to me. I’ve checked and I think I got all the window 7 Drivers installed so I don’t understand why I can no longer  print on the two sides of the page without my having to turn the paper around. I’ve checked several times and the module for making the printer print on both sides is installed and secure so this problem is making no sense to me. Can someone please help? I print a very large database often and with it being over 55 pages I don’t relish the idea of having to sit at the printer and turn the pages around all the time.
    This question was solved.

The default is the duplexer is set to "not installed", you will need to set the duplexer hardware as installed.  See the Vista/Windows 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide here for details.

  • Adobe Reader 10.0.1 hides menu bar when display image is enlarged

I am running an HP Pavilion Elite HPE 400y connected via HDMI through a Sony Receiver into a SamSung XL-2370 LED Monitor.  On the HP I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  When I go to Control Panel / All Control Panel Items / Display and set the screen display size to Medium (125%), Adobe Reader 10.0.1 moves the top of the document being displayed upward to hide most of the menu bar.  Also, the tools bar is usually unstable.  I can't use any of the menu because mouse clicks in the narrow portion of the menu bar that is exposed are ignored.  To shut down Adobe Reader I must start the Windows Task Manager with CTRL-ALT-DELETE and then knock it down because the X on the upper right of the menu bar is hidden.  When I set the screen display size to Smaller (100%), which is the usual setting, everything works fine.  I like using the larger image size (older eyes), but I can live with the normal size.  Unfortunately, to change the Windows image size you must log off your session, so it's not something I like to do more often than necessary.
This appears to be a problem with Adobe Reader 10.0.1 not adjusting properly with the larger image size.  God knows what it would do if I used the Larger (150%) setting.  Maybe there aren't any old people at Adobe who need a larger image.  Otherwise, I'm sure it would have been noticed by now.

As far as I know, Adobe Reader (even v7.0.8) isn't Universal yet, which means it [the plugin] probably won't run natively on your Intel iMac unless you run Safari under Rosetta.

  • Disc recovery problem

I have a HPE-400y desk top computer. (it was bought eight months ago)00000
I installed two extra hard drives in this system and they all set up and worked perfectly.
One day a few weeks ago... a message appeared in my windows program that my main hard drive.
(the one which came in the computer) had some serious defects and that it needed to be replaced
as soon as possible. I bought a new hard drive, and installed it in the computer.... I used the
three recovery disc's to re-install the HP programs and windows 7. which installed perfectly.
The problem I found was that the installation program had also formatted one of my other
hard drives, which was loaded with files.. and that now I do not get the blue start up screen
of HP's which also gave me the option to go into my bios setup area... I want to go in there
and tell the computer which hard drive to boot up too...
can anyone tell me what the set up F and number is to go into the bios set up?
Or and can someone give me some light on as to why this recovey program not only formatted
the new installed hard drive but one of my other ones also....
Thank you very much in advance for any comments or help.

can anyone tell me what the set up F and number is to go into the bios set up?
    From HP's website:
To enter the BIOS Setup utility.
Use one of the following sections to open the BIOS Setup utility.
    BIOS version 6 or less
Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
    Turn on the computer.
When the first screen displays, do one of the following:
Immediately press the F10 key if your computer was built in 2006 or later (came with Vista or Windows 7). Press the key once every second until a BIOS Setup utility screen opens.
Immediately press the F1 key if your computer was built before 2006 (XP or earlier). Press the key once every second until a BIOS Setup utility screen opens.
NOTEn some Compaq Presario computers (before 2002), press the F10 key at the logo screen.
    BIOS version 7 or greater
Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
    Turn on the computer.
When the first screen displays, do one of the following:
Immediately press the F10 key repeatedly, about once every second, until the Computer Setup program opens.
Immediately press the Escape key repeatedly, about once every second, until the Startup menu opens. Then press F10 to open the Computer Setup program.
Or and can someone give me some light on as to why this recovey program not only formatted
the new installed hard drive but one of my other ones also....
Any time you install an OS or recovery a system it as reccomended to remove all non-essential, non-original and/or all non-system hard drives and media. This is to minimize failure of the installation, failure of the system recovery and accidental erasure of non-system hard drives and media.

  • I want to upgrade my video card in my HPE H8-1020 - It is a Eyefinity Radeon HD6570

I want to upgrade my video card in my  HPE H8-1020 - It is a Eyefinity Radeon HD6570.  I want to upgrade to a professional monitor for photo editing and would like to know what is available?

    Jimg-evv, welcome to the forum.
What is the make/model of the monitor that you want to buy.  I will provide the information for you, but it would help me to know more about the monitor.
You can upgrade the video card.  However, most mid-level cards require at least 400W to operate properly.  The power supply unit (PSU) in the computer is 300W.  A card that would work for your needs would require a PSU upgrade, as well.
I recommend at least 500W; 600W would be even better because it would allow for future upgrades.  I like OCZ and Corsair PSU's.
You would need a PCI Express x16 video card.  I like XFX, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  If you upgrade the PSU, this card should work for you.

  • HPE h8-1170uk motherboard upgrade urgent

    hi,
the HPE h8-1170uk is advertised as being able to take x16 GCs but it doesn't.
i am trying to replace the NVIDIA GeForce GT545 with a GTX760 and it's mobo won't take it!
it's mobo is the IPISB-CH2 (Chicago). in the uk this is a basic 'trades description' violation, and HP should really send a free mobo to replace it, but i'll settle for paying for the right mobo to replace it if it can be found.
    any suggestions welcome

Hi, it's not the mtb. It's the PSU: http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-760/specifications
It says min PSU 500W and yours is only 460W. You have to upgrade the PSU..

  • HPE-490t Graphics Card Upgrade

Hello! I currently have an HPE-490t that was built in December of 2011. Here are the specs:
    -Intel(R)Core(TM)i7-980X six-core Extreme Edition [3.33 GHz, 1.5MB L2 + 12MB L3 shared cache]
-Motherboard is a Pegatron, PN: 612503-002
    -16GB DDR3 - 1066MHz SDRAM [4 DIMMs]
    -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 1GB
    -460W PSU
I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card. The GTX 460 is a PCI-e 2.0 x16. I'm looking to upgrade to a GTX 660ti or 660. The PSU would be able to handle the power draw and I believe the card would fit the board but would this motherboard support the GTX 600 series' PCIe 3.0?

  • MSI GTX 750 Ti upgrade for a "hpe-521 it" model

    Hello,
I would like to upgrade my desktop video card to a GTX 750 Ti.
My desktop model (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02782877&cc=it&dlc=it&lc=it&product=5095560) should be compatible with the card, at least it seems to me.
I have bought an ASUS card (OC GTX 750 Ti) but I failed to get it working on my computer, even after upgrading the bios to the 7.15 ami version.
I have a problem similar to many other reported on this very forum, I get stuck to the screen logo (interestingly, the video seems to work, so again I think there is no problem of hardware compatibility between mobo, power supply and video card) the computer beeps several times and then the video card get powered off.
The problem seems to be the UEFI, not fully supported in the HP BIOS of my model, and so buying the MSI model of the card should be a viable solution:

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
The HPE-521it doesn't have the HP version 8 BIOS which many of the newer graphics cards require for compatibility and functionality.
The threads that you referenced do contain specific MSI NVIDIA GTX 750 models that offer you the best chance for using the NVIDIA GTX 750.  If you search this forum you should find others that have reported success with using these specific MSI GTX 750 graphics cards.

  • HPE-112Y UPGRADE HELP..PLEASE

VT637AA-ABA-HPE-112Y amd phenom II X4 925 processor, 920gb, 8gb ram, ati radeon 4350 (512mb dedicated), bluray drive and recordable dvd/cd drive..
I am trying to speed up my desktop for surfing the web and running CyberLink PowerDirector 13. Powerdirector (10, 11, or 12) never seemed to work well with this desktop for some reason and after running the program the pc seemed much slower until reboot. Ive heard on cyberlink forum the radeon 4350 can have issues w/program compatibility and was instructed by cyberlink to rollback driver last year (if that matters?). even though I've tried saving memory via external hd, defragmenting, etc. The PC now is running extremely slow changing pages on the Internet as well. Its not the net, my laptop works great. I have windows 7 premium and run 2 28"Asus HD monitors (only one hdmi port on pc, the other through hdmi adaptor) and am getting ready to do a destructive reload to just to clear everything before possibly upgrading. I was thinking of upgrading either the RAM and or the video graphics card to give it the best performance. These seem to be the lowest scores on the windows performance tool (if it helps scores were 7.2, 7.5, 4., 5.9, 5.9)...processor Ram graphics gaming graphics and primary hard disk (534gb avail out of 920gb).
Ive never gamed and use it primarily for business and family video editing occasionally.
that's about all I can think of to say I tried to be as detailed as possible. feel free to give me recommendations on what video card to upgrade to, if I should upgrade from 8 gb ram to 16 gb ram (which is possible for the system and windows 7 premium), and/or do nothing if these upgrades wont affect performance noticeably. I think i read the ram is currently 2gbx4slots..so id probably have to replace all of it i think???

    Hi,
Skip the ram upgrade as your W7 performance numbers are plenty good.  Hold off on the video card upgrade until you can ascertain where the issue resides.
Your problems could be any one or more of the following:
Hardware issues --- run some diagnostics - reseat the ram and video card
ISP issues -- have the ISP conduct a loop test and then run your own download/upload performance test
Software issues -- reload the system

I have just bougth a new graffikcard from MSI a Geforce GTX660, but ran into some prolems i get no picture on the screen, tried to replace the PSU, didnot help tried upgrading Bios, no go, tried replacing ram no go. Tried the card in an older HP computer works fine.
Do you have an ideer or is the motherboard just not up for it??
    BR
    Robert

Is the six-pin PCIe power connector (from the PSU) plugged into the card?
I don't see a manual for the card at MSI's website, but any PCIe - x16 card with power generally needs at least one of these. Well known brands of upgrade PSU's  (OCZ, P&PC, Corsair) come with these connectors. If I didn't plug the two in the AMD Radeon HD 6870 card in this desktop has the card would not work.

I wanted to upgrade my current graphics card which was an NVIDIA GeForce GT 620, the mother board is a H-Joshua-H61-uATX. I recently bought an EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti Superclock. I unistalled the old drivers took out the old card, added the new one and when I started up my PC i would recive 3 beeps and a black screen. I did some research and found out that it may be due to the BIOS. There is no BIOS upgrade I can find and my BIOS vers is AMI 7.11, 4/28/2012. I would appreciate a list or a recommendation of compatable Video cards so I do not have to keep buying and installing these devices or if there is a new BIOS update.
