How can I upgrade Adobe Reader X to XI so that XI replaces X?

  • Need helph to upgrade adobe reader

need help to upgrade adobe reader

As this is a user to user forum, there is no guarantee that you'll receive instant replies. Not even that you will receive an answer at all.
It would be much easier to help you if you condescend to give us a minimum of information about your setup. You know, such basic things as whether you are in a Mac or a Win machine, and from which version of Reader you would like to upgrade to which. Knowing the version of your OS could also be helpful.

  • How do i upgrade adobe reader to adobe acrobat?

need adobe acrobat to print out financial info from our financial institutions but i only have
adobe reader ---do I have to buy into acrobat just to print off a few vital papers every yearend?

Also, just to make it clear: Acrobat is not an "upgrade" from Reader; it's a different product.

  • Upgrading Adobe Reader 11.0.03 to version 11.0.06

My usual packaging and deployment consists of extracting the installer exe and running the msi through the customization wizard Adobe provides.
This latest 11.0.06 comes as a solo msp as well... I'm fully aware and works well to upgrade existing 11x installs.  However my environment has regions where I do not control the release of Reader,
and they might have PC's with 10x versions running wild. Plus I need to be able to do initial installs of Reader on new PC's.
    Here's what I've done:
    I've followed this article:
    http://www.scconfigm...ith-powershell/
Even the execmgr log files on the client machine also show that the installation was pushed out successfully, but when you log onto that particular client computer and check the program version either by launching Adobe
Reader and go into About it's still showing version11.0.03. The Control
Panel also shows version 11.0.03 in the Programs/Features area.
Again- yes the msp works great on its own, but I would love to have just one script to install or upgrade any existing Reader! I expect major upgrades getting wonky, but, I absolutely dispise how Adobe cannot
get their minor updates to be consistent!
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    J

    I prefer this method instead:
    http://www.scconfigmgr.com/2013/09/10/deploy-adobe-reader-11-0-4-with-configmgr-2012-sp1/
Also note that because the outcome will be a MSI package with the SAME productcode as the 11.00, you'll need additional detection method for your ConfigMgr application. I use the file version of AcroRead32.exe

  • Questions in upgrading Adobe Reader

I have to upgrade latest version of Adobe Reader in thousands of PC, by deployment in Group Policy Management, Those PC has different version (e.g. 5.0 to 9.0). The problem is, the new version is deployed and installed, the older version still exist. Do anyone got solution on remove older version automatically? thanks!!!

Adobe Reader 11.0.06 installed and worked fine on my Mavericks 10.9.1. You should not have an open Safari browser during the actual install.
Have you used Disk Utility to verify/repair your file permissions?

  • I can't open pdf's from web sites since I upgraded adobe reader

Since I upgraded adobe, I haven't been able to open pdf's directly from websites--I just get a black screen (in Safari, or a white screen in Firefox).  I can sometimes right click on the link and either download the pdf or save it as a document as a work-around to enable me to open it.

I have the same problem.  Or similar.  A few weeks ago, i installed Adobe reader (because i had a pdf attachment that was unreadable in Preview, so i wanted to try Adobe to see if that would work; it didn't work).  Since then, i can't open PDF files on the web. I get a black screen or sometimes a white one. and i can sometimes open them indirectly, if there is the option on the link. I thought this problem started after i deleted Adobe however. I'm not sure because i wasn't expecting this problem and am not exactly sure the sequence of when things happened, but i wanted to delete Adobe reader because i had no use for it. Unfortunately, they didn't provide an uninstaller. I put the application in the trash and whatever else was in the folder, and emptied the trash, but got a lot of messages about various files not being able to be deleted because they were in use.  I think it was since then that i can't open PDF files.  Never had a problem before getting involved with Adobe Reader. Anyway,  as far as your answer goes, i have already deleted as much of it as i can.
Any other suggestions?  i downloaded the Adobe installer to reinstall it if that's what it takes. i need to be able to open PDF files.
    Thanks

  • After upgrading, Adobe reader is not working.

After upgrading to 10.10.2, Adobe reader is not working. It is asking for user agreement to be signed. I cannot find this again. I have uninstalled and re-installed but still does not appear. I have tried to contact Adobe with no luck. Can anyone help please?

Since you are running OS X 10.10.2, you do not have an iMac (PPC) so you have posted in the wrong forum. I have requested the Hosts to move your post to the correct forum where hopefully someone will see it and help you.

  • Upgrade Adobe Reader via GPO

    Hello,
We have about 50 workstations with Adobe Reader 10.1.3. It was installed manually. Now, we would like to upgrade them to version 11 via GPO. Can someone provide me the step-by-step instruction on how to do that? I've seen some articles but scenarios are different because we never had GPO created for Adobe Reader.
    Thanks!

One word of warning, I've been pushing Reader through our GPO for the last year or so and it's not 100% flawless. Which, to be fair, a lot of GPO installs seem to fall into the "not 100% category". Tried several different ways ranging from keeping huge version lists that grow with every patch and doing the package upgrade method noted in the admin guide linked above (which is a great general purpose guide by the way, used it a good deal) to making completely new packages every patch and removing old installs from GPO so only current ones are there. The problem we always hit is that sometimes the version you're replacing does not fully go away. You'll get cases where you've upgraded a group through several versions, and then when you do an inventory on a random machine you'll find that it reports having the current version, and one or more old versions as well. So if you are moving to GPO from another deployment solution, depending on how many computers you are deploying to a good software inventory piece is handy. I often find remnant keys in the installer reg entries which are pretty normal to check when doing reg cleanup, but also when deploying via GPO there's HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy\AppMgmt which holds keys for everything the system thinks it has installed via GP. These don't always get cleared properly, and will have the PC report software as installed even if it's gone. Just a quirk to keep an eye out for, expecially if you are trying to maintain app counts on your workstations. Also: Adobe Customization Wizard.. learn it, love it.

  • How to silent Upgrade Adobe Reader from 10.1.4 to 10.1.8?

    Hi,
my problem is that i have 10.1.4 and I want 10.1.8.
If I understood this right: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-10.html
Acrobat (Formula = Base release + latest quarterly + latest out of cycle patch)
    Acceptable: 10.0.0 > 10.1.8 (Q)
    Acceptable: 10.0.0 > 10.1.5 (Q) > 10.1.6 (OOC)
    Acceptable: 10.0.0 > 10.0.1 (Q) > 10.0.3 (OOC)
    Unacceptable: 10.0.0 > 10.1.0 (Q) > 10.1.8 (Q) <<<<<<<<<<
It will only work if I uninstall 10.1.4 first before I can install 10.1.8.
Now to uninstall 10.1.4 i need the GUID found here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Installer
How do I have to do write my script, so it will identify the GUID of any newer version of the Reader?
    ### It looks like this:
##Installing Adobe Reader 10.1.4 # currently not using variables
    D:\Test\Adobe_Patch_Daten\AdbeRdr1014_de_DE.exe -nos_oD:\Test\Adobe_Reader_10.1.4\ -nos_ne /sAll
    msiexec /qb /a "D:\Test\Adobe_Reader_10.1.4\AcroRead.msi" TARGETDIR="D:\Test\Adobe_Reader_10.1.4\AIP" /quie
    msiexec /qb /a "D:\Test\Adobe_Reader_10.1.4\AIP\AcroRead.msi" /p "D:\Test\Adobe_Reader_10.1.4\AdbeRdrUpd1014.msp" /quiet
    msiexec /i D:\Test\Adobe_Reader_10.1.4\AIP\AcroRead.msi TARGETDIR="C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe" /quiet /log log.txt
    ### From here uninstalling 10.1.4
    ## -> I copied the GUID from regedit manually
@@@ How do I automatically get the new GUID from regedit?
    msiexec /qb /x {AC76BA86-7AD7-1031-7B44-AA1000000001} /quiet
Next step: Install 10.1.8 -> no exe file so my way may not work
@@@ How to install silent with msp? (I wasnt successful...dunno why)
Refering to the exhibit I have to got this way - -> 10.0.0 -> 10.1.8
    Thanks,
    Marabunta

Updated version to deploy updates and customizations through GPO:
Download the latest Adobe Reader Multilingual msi installer and msp updates:
    - Adobe Reader 11.0 - Multilingual (MUI) installer         135MB         10/14/2012
    - Adobe Reader 11.0.01 update - Multilingual (MUI) installer     10.5 MB     1/8/2013
Copy these files to the same location.
Open the 'AcroRead.msi' in Adobe Customization Wizard XI.
            Adobe Customization Wizard XI download.

Such as Language, Silent, accept EULA, supress reboot, disable product updates, etc...
Once all changes are complete, go to 'Transform' and then 'Generate Transform'
Save this file as 'AcroRead.mst' in the same directory.
Go to file and 'Save Package' to save the MSI.
On your local computer, launch this command to encapsulate the .msp update into the .msi installer from a DOS command prompt :
    msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp
Copy the folder in a share and configure GPO using the msi package and mst file

  • Upgrading Adobe Reader 10.0.0 to 10.0.1 Results in MSI Error 1603

Hello Adobe Forum! I'm at a loss and don't know what to do.
My organization deployed Adobe Reader through as part of our baseline image. We did not deploy through Group Policy. We have multiple methods of software deployment (CA ITCM, PDQ Deploy, Promisec). I've tried all three of these methods and each time they fail with the 1603 error. When I run the command manually, it works perfectly. Strangely enough...one or two out of several hundred will install correctly.
    msiexec.exe /p "AdbeRdrUpd1001_Tier1.msp" /qb
I've also tried this with the same results.
    msiexec /p AdbeRdrUpd1001_Tier1.msp /quiet REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus
I know there is no MSI available, only the MSP. I have no clue what is wrong. When I deploy, I use my network credentials (domain admin).
Can someone direct me in the right direction and perhaps what I can do to get this software to deploy correctly?

All I can do is point you to the Admin Guide: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/enterprise-administration-acrobat-products.html

  • Upgrade Adobe Reader XI to Acrobat XI Pro

    Hi,
Is this at all possible, or do I need to purchase the full software package?

"Upgrade" means from an earlier Acrobat version, like 9 or X.
