Upgrading bi publisher server error (10g to 11g)

Hi All,
We have installed OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.6).
After installing we have upgraded bi publisher repository from 10g to 11g. Stopped managed server while upgrading. Upgradation was successful. But the managed server is starting in Admin mode. So unable to login to analytics or bi publisher. Weblogic server is working fine.
In the managed server, under deployments bipublisher (11.1.1) is showin failed.
Any help..
Thanks.

  • Error after upgrading BI Publisher report from 10g to 11g

    Hi All,
I have migrated the BI Publisher from 10g to 11g. The upgrade was done using the upgrade assistant and the installation process was a success.
However whenever I try to access the reports in 11g after migration I get the following error:
oracle.xdo.servlet.CreateException: Data Model definition not found:/dlypurge.xdm.
I have tried modifying the .xdo to include the following:
<dataModel url="/RMS/dlypurge/dlypurge.xdm"/> where dlypurge is one of the reports. However in the BI Publisher does not seem to access the latest .xdo file.
Any suggestions on how to rectify the error.

Do we have to undeploye EJB3.0

    Hi,
It seems like you are upgrading E-Business Suite . If thats the case its better post the problem in Ebiz forum. Also post the document id you are following, your app and db release, OS release. We do not deploy J2EE applications on Ebiz Tech Stack app server. So un-deployment should not be applicable here.

    Hi,

    RegardsHi,
The Oracle Clusterware software always fully supports rolling upgrades, while the ASM software is rolling upgradeable at version 11.1.0.6 and beyond.
Rolling upgrade: we mean upgrading software (Oracle Database, Oracle Clusterware, ASM or the OS itself) while the cluster is operational by shutting down a node, upgrading the software on that node, and then reintegrating it into the cluster, and so forth one node at a time until all the nodes in the cluster are at the new software level.
For the Oracle Database software (RAC), it is possible only for certain single patches that are marked as rolling upgrade compatible. Most Bundle patches and Critical Patch Updates (CPU) are rolling upgradeable. Patchsets and DB version (10g to 11g) changes are not supported in a rolling fashion, one reason that this may be impossible is that across major releases, there may be incompatible versions of the system tablespace, for example. To upgrade these in a rolling fashion one will need to use a logical standby with Oracle Database 10g or 11g.

You can choose the current environment using OUI (Oracle Universal Installer, see Startup > All programs > Oracle xxx > Oracle Installion Products > Universal Installer. Then, in OUI, choose Installed Products > Environment tab and choose the Home of the tool you want to use.

  • Oracle 10g and 11g Reports

I recently upgraded from Oracle Forms/Reports 10g to 11g.  Oracle 10g Reports when saved as a PDF is easily converted to a word document, however ,Oracle 11g does not convert as 10g does.  What is the difference and how to make the 11g report saved in a PDF be able to convert to a Microsoft Word document cleanly.
    Thank you,
    Steven

    Hello,
There is a "known issue" with the PDF in 11g:
ALERT: Reports PDF Problems in 11.1.2.1.0 Patchset for Non-Linux Platforms (Doc ID 1522543.1)
May be the problem comes from this "issue" ...
"Patch Set Exception" exist for this issue.
    Kind regards

  • After Upgrade OBI 10g to 11g:Odbc driver returned an error - SQLExecDirectW

    Hi all,
for an OBI upgrade from 10g to 11g I used a RPD and Webcatalog based on a remote machine other than my local machine. Firstable I am making the tests on a Linux Virtual machine, which uses the Sample Lite version from Oracle.
    I made the following steps:
    1. I upgraded the RPD and Webcatalog. It worked without any errors.
    2. I set the static variable BI_EE_HOME via Administration Tool to the path in the Linux machine.
--> Here I am not sure if the set path is correct. It begins with: \bi\ ...\instances\...\coreapplication_obis1 (... : I can't mention here the whole path name).
--> When the OBI Server is installed in Windows, the mentioned static variable points to something like 'C:\<install folder>\...\coreapplication_obis1'
--> Question: is the begin of my set path correct?. I set that pointing to the Linux OBI Server, because the OBI Server is installed on Linux.
    Problem:
After login as the user in RPD: Administrator/<Password for my upgraded RPD> I can see the links in the Catalog and the Dashboards links. But I can not see any values, any Reports when going through the links.
For example when trying to see a Dashboard with date 12.02.2011it happens:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Status: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] general error.
[nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS.
    [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed:
[nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 12154, message: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    at OCI call OCIServerAttach.
[nQSError: 17014] Could not connect to Oracle database. (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT "Dimension_-_My Dimension"."MyDimension" saw_0 FROM "Accounting (ACC)" WHERE "Dimension_-_My Dimension"."MyDimension" LIKE 'J%' ORDER BY saw_0
I think its not retrieving the data from the remote database, because I don't have the data of the remote database in my local. I think the OBI Server still is pointing to the local virtual machine Oracle database.
Can anybody tell me what happens here and how can I solve this problem?.
    I would appreciate any help....

    Hi gerardnico,
I've tried many things and did as in your articles, but I don't have success with that.
These are the things I did:
    1. I searched for the file tnsnames.ora in my Linux virtual machine. I could find it in many paths:
    /.../Oracle_BI1/network/admin/samples/tnsnames.ora
    /.../oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/hs/admin/tnsnames.ora.sample
    /.../oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/admin/tnsnames.ora
    /.../oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/admin/samples/tnsnames.ora
    /.../oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/admin/temp/tnsnames.ora
    /.../usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/admin
in the last path I found the listener.ora as well.
    2. I took the tnsnames.ora from the last path, because the ORACLE_HOME points to /.../usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server
    3. I edited the tnsnames.ora this way:
    # tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File:
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host_of_the_remote_machine)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = database_name_of_the_remote_machine)
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = database_SID_of_the_remote_machine)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    4. I made a backup of the tnsnames.ora in path /.../Oracle_BI1/network/admin/samples/tnsnames.ora
and copied the tnsnames.ora from /.../usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/admin to the Oracle_BI1 path
    5. I set the TNS_ADMIN to /.../usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/admin
    6. I restarted the BI Server
No success in what I did. The error is still there.
    7. I've tried also: sqlplus database_user_remote_machine/database_password_remote_machine@database_SID_remote_machine
    I didn't get the connection:
    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Thu Jun 16 04:36:10 2011

What am I doing wrong here?. I am still thinking that I need the import of the database.

  • Error 500--Internal Server Error when using BI Publisher within OBIEE 11g

I'm using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2BP1 on a Linux x86-64 server and it has been working just fine. We recently started playing around with the BI Publisher component of that installation and every time i go to http://hostname:port/xmlpserver and try to log in with an Administrator username and password, the following error shows up:
    Error 500--Internal Server Error
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    *10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error*
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
I have looked around for solutions and tried a couple of them (created a new Admin user in Weblogic Console and checked the opmnctl status) and they did not help. I'm looking for an answer other than upgrade to the latest and greatest
    Any help is appreciated.

Do you have any SSO setup as that might be preventing the ability of the user to log into BI Publisher, hence the Internal 500 error message.
Are you using FMW security model for BIP and OBIPS integration which is by default. Check the xmlp-server-config.xml file from the repository [\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\clients\bipublisher\repository\Admin\Configuration\xmlp-server-config.xml] and see what your security model is pointing to?
Also what happens when you try to access from Administration>BI Publisher >Manager BI Publisher ?
