Upgrading CCM,CER, Unity

Hi, I was wondering how everyone keeps their versions up to date on their voip applications. Is there a site that Cisco has where I can find out what I should be running for Callmanager, CER, BARS,Unity, and IPCC? I have been put in charge of keeping these up to date but have no idea where to start. Thanks in advance.

Hi Efrain,
Hope all is well my friend. Good question! This can become very complicated very quickly especially when it comes to inter-operability and compatabilty between these products. You don't want to get too far behind in versioning but you don't want to be "bleeding edge" either. This is probably the best Cisco doc, especially for these types of questions, that I have ever seen;
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Software Compatibility Matrix
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr.html#wp1576951
Have a look at the various sections and you will see what the latest and greatest versions are, and what works with and has been tested with each other piece of the puzzle. You have to be careful and really plan these out because Hardware comes into play with many upgrades as well. As I said this can be come complicated but not overwhelming if properly planned out :)
Hope this helps!

  • Upgrade path from Unity / Exchange to Unity Connection 7.1

    Has anyone found (perhaps doesn't exist) an upgrade path from Unity / Exchange 4.1 to Unity Connection 7.1?

    It will likely require a new server, but I just performed this migration.  You also have to be on Unity 4.0(5) or higher in order to perform the migration.  You use the COBRAS Export tool for Unity to grab the majority of system data and the COBRAS Import tool for Connection to migrate data over.  Read up on COBRAS here:
    http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/General/COBRAS/COBRAS.html
    If you have other questions, let me know.

    For Batch jobs -- Try analyzing your database schema's referred by batch jobs. Also look if you have suff o/s resources as recommended by oracle for running Oracle 9i software.
    For backups -- Check the size of your dmp file before upgradation and after upgrading to 9i. If you do not find major diff in size then it could be a resource issue like cpu usage / io / memory.

  • Upgrading CCM from 7.0 to 7.1(5)

    Hi Team,
    Do we need license to upgrade the CCM version from CCM 7.0 to 7.1(5).

    I just did this upgrade last night.  The system went into demo mode on the node license.  As I'm taking it on up to 8.6 tonight I'm not worried about it, but wanted to let people know there is some process they will have to do if staying at 7.1(5)

  • Change (music on hold) at ccm or unity?

    dear sir,
    Anyone know how to change the music on hold music at ccm version 4.1(3) or unity 4.0(4)?
    please advise.
    thanks.

    Hi Charles,
    Here is how to change the MOH for CallManager;
    Music On Hold Audio Sources
    An MOH audio translator service converts administrator-supplied audio sources to the proper format for the music on hold server to use. The audio translator uses two parameters, an input directory and an output directory. You can configure the input directory, which defaults to C:\Program Files\Cisco\MOH\DropMOHAudioSourceFilesHere, on a per-service basis. The output directory, a clusterwide parameter, contains a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) name to a shared directory on the default MOH TFTP directory. For whatever directory is specified, append \MOH.
    When the administrator drops an audio source file into the input directory, the MOH Audio Translator processes the file and then moves it into the output directory along with any files that are generated. Cisco CallManager supports most audio source file formats as input sources, including wav and mp3 files. After the input audio source is converted, an audio source file exists for each codec type that the music on hold server supports. Supply the highest quality source that is available.
    From this good MOH doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a00803f3a9f.html#wp1027441

  • Upgrade CCM 4.1.2 to 4.1.3

    How I can upgrade the Cisco CallManager version 4.1.2 to Cisco CallManager Version 4.1(3), Service Release 1?

    Hi Ricardo,
    This is a "supported" upgrade path :) Here is the "read-me" for the upgrade which contains a good step by step reference. Upgrade to 4.1(3)(web download .exe available) first and then apply the SR (I beleive the SR is up to 5b now);

  • Any idea on approximate upgrade for CM, unity, ICM and CVP

    Looking for some basic numbers.  CM 4.x to current, IPCC 7.0 to current CVP 2 version back.
    Is this some thing doable by inhouse staff? any upgrade documents or its not really recomended?
    Any vendors in midwest you can recommend?
    Thanks,
    Baseer.

    I've never really been involved 100% in an upgrade project, we have a team dedicated for that in my company.  However, I think it's usually 4-6 weeks, depending on the scope.  The main thing to take into account is, #1 licensing, ensure you have all the proper licensing ASAP.  #2 hardware, for example, CVP has greatly improved their port density in later versions which allows you the opportunity to remove some servers from the solution.  #3 upgrade process, you can do a concurrent upgrade, where you're running two version at one point and can only upgrade one piece at a time, this process usually takes longer, but provides virtually no down time.  eLoyalty (my employer) has a pretty big presence in the Midwest in case you're interested.

    We are working on incorporating or upgrading a 3.2 cluster to 4.2. for CCM and Unity. Can we BAT the profiles User/Devices from one to the other. Also what are some of the challenges that we may encounter.

    Hi James,
    I'm just going to speak to the CCM question for now (pretty complicated) Just as an FYI CCM 4.2 has been announced as EoL (see below) I really like 4.2(3) but I just wanted you to know (you may already :)
    End-of-Life Milestones and Dates for the Cisco Unified CallManager Version 4.2

    May 15, 2009
    End of New Service Attachment Date:

    For a CCM 3.2 to CCM 4.2;
    This type of upgrade uses a multi-step approach to migrate the data from CCM 3.2 to 4.2(3). There are different considerations depending on whether or not the Servers are being replaced etc.
    Upgrading Your Cisco Unified CallManager Server (When You Are Not Replacing Hardware)
    You cannot upgrade directly from Cisco CallManager Release 3.2 or earlier to Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.2. If your server runs a version of Cisco CallManager Release 3.2 or earlier, you must first upgrade every server in the cluster to the latest version of Cisco CallManager Release 3.3, 4.0, or 4.1 before you can upgrade to a version of Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.2. For information on upgrading to Cisco CallManager Release 3.3, refer to the latest version of Upgrading Cisco CallManager Release 3.3.
    Note If you are upgrading from Cisco CallManager 3.3, you must use the disks from the Cisco Unified CallManager 4.2(3) software kit.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a00807202d7.html
    If all you want from the 3.2 database is the phone/user info, you may be able to use the BAT Export from 3.2 and then BAT Import on 4.2. Be careful with the actual BAT format between versions as they will not match exactly for sure. With some tweaking this would probably work. Try some example Export/Imports to fine tune the .csv or BAT.xlt details before going for the lot.
    Hope this helps!

  • CUCM/Unity/Presence Upgrade from 8.6.2 to 9.1

    Hello,
    I am planning an upgrade of our UC environment this weekend.  I've been in contact with Cisco Licensing support all week to get the appropriate license for all the services.  For CUCM I have ran the Pre Upgrade License Utility however they keep asking me for the ELM license request.
    I've told them several times that ELM gets installed during the upgrade so I cannot provide the information beforehand.  They've escalated my ticket to product management however i'm not sure i'll get a response before my maintenance window.
    Can I proceed with the upgrade of CUCM/Unity/Presence and resolve the licensing afterwards?  will it run in eval mode for a while?
    Can someone also confirm this is the proper upgrade order?
    CUCM Publisher Upgrade to 9.1

  • CUCM & Unity - both 8.6 - to 9.1.2 - Refresh upgrade file ? & Reload Sequence

    Hi guys,
    I have two questions..
    I have to update CUCM 8.6.2 (Cluster of 2 ) to 9.1.2
    And Unity 8.6.2 ( cluster of 2 ) to 9.1.2
    First question,
    Do I need the refresh upgrade file For CUCM 8.6.2 before upgrade ?
    Do I need the refresh upgrade file For Unity 8.6.2 before upgrade ?
    Second question,
    From what I know For CUCM I Update PUB First, then Reboot PUB... once done I Update CUCM SUB and Reboot SUB.
    For Unity, I think I have to update Unity PUB ( no reboot) then Update Unity SUB ( once both update, I reboot PUB, and when it is UP I reboot Unity SUb )
    is that right ?
    thanks,

    Here is the process for migrating licenses:
    Upgrade your apps to version 9, you will run in 60 day demo mode
    Install ELM and add UCXN and CUCM instances to it
    Go through license migration process in ELM
    2 files will be generated for license migration one for CUCM and one for UCXN
    Send these to [email protected]
    Cisco will issue new licenses for version 9 based on what was configured and what you are entities to based on UCSS
    My experience is that they don't spend too much comparing to what you are actually entitled to so you may want to need to work with them on manually adjusting anything, i.e. convert Enhanced/Enhnaced Plus to CUWL, etc.

  • CCM 2.0 Catalog to SRM-MDM 3.0 Catalog during SRM 7.0 upgrade

    Hi,
    We are upgrading our existing SRM 5.0 system to SRM 7.0 and we are planning to deploy SRM-MDM 3.0 Catalog as it is more flexible & SAP is not going to support CCM 2.0 Catalog after 2013. Please let me know the upgrade steps/plan to upgrade CCM 2.0 to SRM-MDM 3.0 catalog. As per my understanding, there is no tool/method available to upgrade from CCM 2.0 to SRM-MDM 3.0 catalog available. We need to build it from scratch i.e maintain SAP supplied MDM repository, upload data from SRM/ERP, upload suppliers catalog etc.
    Thanks,
    AS

    Hi,
    I have migrated CCM to SRM-MDM Catalog.
    Steps are
    - Install SRM-MDM Catalog
    - Adjust Repository if you have custom fields
    - Import contents
    - Adjust view
    Migration itself is not difficult but you need to learn how to use MDM client tools.
    The SRM270 class room training is good one.
