Upgrading database nev completes

I have just upgraded iphoto to the latest version via the App Store.
As part of the installatin process it says it needd to upgrde the iphoto database. After a coouple of quick checking screens it begins the updating database process. the progress bar completes 95% of it journey and but then frezes at the last 2 millmetres. The first tie I waited 8 hours for the process to complete but it never did. I had to force quit iphoto.
I then trashed the iphoto application and downloaded a fresh copy. In case the iphoto library has been corrupted by the failed installation process, I went into the timemachine and restored the iphoto library to a a copy before the instalatin process had been underaken. the same thing happened again a freeze 2 mm boe thened. What now?

After "Force Quitting" try to repair the aperture Libray before trying to upgrade:
Launch Aperture with the cmd-options-key combination (⌘⌥) firmly held down, then select "Repair Library" from the "Aperture 3 Library First Aid" panel; if "Repair" does not suffice, try "Rebuild Database".

IMovie 09 spinning wheel, never completes startup

I shot a few videos (short, perhaps 15 seconds total) and imported them to aperture 3. When I started imovie, it scanned my aperture library as expected but never completes - after the progress bar vanishes it sits at this screen: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/268628/iMovieFailedStartup.png perpetually. I've waited 15 minutes so far and tried restarting imovie a few times with the same result.

I figured it out! I have several hundred RAW images in iPhoto and it seems that iMovie chokes on them. If your iMovie is slow, with lots of spinning wheel, try the following:
1. close iMovie
2. hold down option key and launch IPHOTO
3. create new iPhoto database. call it "empty"
4. close iPhoto.
5. launch iMovie.
6. Problem Solved
whenever you work with iMovie, use the empty iphoto database. you can switch between iphoto databases by holding down the option key whenever you launch iphoto.
Apple, you need to fix this!

Adadmin Compile APPS schema never complete & it running for infinite time

Hi,
When I am trying to compile apps schema from adadmin --> compile apps schema, It never complete & it is not compiling invalid objects, I tried to manually run the adutlrcmp.sql through SQL, also the same problem the scripts is stuck (hang) in the UTL_RECOMP.RECOMP_PARALLEL proceure.
Please note the following:
1- That I am able to compile invalid objects manually through Toad Or through alter package.
2- The compile apps schema was running successfully & very fast in the past.
What should I do? how can I resolve this issue ?

Apple Quick Time is Loading, loading, loading and never complets

I loaded Apple Quick Time that came with my iPod. When I click on the short cut it begins loading and never completes. It just remains in a loading state. Any ideas?

I am also confused by bill. Somone was to call me back, never did. Also, someone to call my husband back due to his not being able to reply to his email on our home computer, although at work he's fine and his cell is fine (???) I upgraded to HD Complete Xf. Is this different than X1 Platform ??? I"m so confused. Firt they told me on the phone that there was a special at $199/mo for 12 mos. But, my bill states 245.49 with -20.50 for total Bundled services at $224.99 ???? too much to list, I just called and asked that they have the same bill in front of them so we can go over line-by-line....wasn't happening. Now I'm supposed to get a call from a supervisor tonight..... way too convoluted.

Newsstand - Upgrading Database

I have not used Newsstand for a while and when I started the app and tried to open a subscription magazine I get a black screen with the magazine's logo and a title of "Upgrading Database" with a progress bar below it. The progress bar will get to approx 30% complete (which takes a long time) before dropping back to the contents view of Newsstand. Any further attempt to open the magazine gives the same result. I only have one magazine subscription so can't say if is specific to the subscription or is a function of the application.
I have tried resetting the iPad but with the same result.
Any help or ideas please, thanks

Newsstand-compatible apps automatically move to Newsstand. Tap and hold apps to arrange them in Newsstand. Note: You cannot drag other publications into Newsstand.
If a subscription app or publication doesn't appear in Newsstand, verify that the app supports the Newsstand feature.
Newsstand updates subscriptions only when using a Wi-Fi connection. If you aren't seeing the latest issue:
Verify that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Check Settings > iTunes & App Store to verify that Automatic Downloads is enabled for that publication.

Application team runs a job which never completes.

Hi,
Application team runs a job which never completes in pkterp database (which is beta database). This program runs 24 hours but it never completes. The same job runs fine in INT, QA, PRE-PROD,prod database and completes in 90 minutes. Please let me know what are the parameters to check. I compared some parameters open_cursors, parallel_ they are same with pre-prod. The process has subprocesses which are parallel processes and i saw the wait events in TOAD they are
PX Deq: Execution Msg, PX Deq Credit: send blkd. These 2 wait events are there repeated multiple times for the subprocesses. These wait events are there for most of the time in waiting status. Please let me know what else to check & implement to solve the issue.

I compared some parameters open_cursors, parallel_ they are same with pre-prod. Please let me know what else to check.1. Check if stats in pkterp are fresh. Or re-gather.
2. You better start statspack couple of times when job runs (or AWR if you have a license on it) and get reports from where you can figure out SQLs that are slow, and other things that may slow them down. Then tune those SQLs or environment to meke them run fast.
4. You also may set trace on the job session, then tkprof it.
3. You or developer may execute job's code in manual mode, peace by peace and look what slows down. Then tune slow parts.

Package never completes

Hi All,
I hope you can help me because it is a nasty problem I have that keeps occuring every few weeks.
I have a few administrative tasks which I have put in different packages in SAP BPC 7.0 so that it automatically runs a few things during the night:
For example: Shrink_Prod package runs during the night to shrink the files and database; I also have a few other packages like ClearLogDTS_Prod, BackupWebfolder_Prod, and others.
My question:
I have 1 package, named Admin_Optimize, that does an optimization of all 5 applications within the system. The package is run from the application RATE for all other applications. But 1 instance of that package never completes for some reason. It keeps running for hours and because our company operates in different time zones people in other time zones sit idle until I reach the office to do the necessary to put the application back online.
I have put the logs for this package on the SAP helpdesk but no real solution there. Does anyone have an idea??

Hey Yavuz,
there was an error within former BPC versions. The optimization of more than one applications at a time failed: The effect was, that the process exceeded in some cases more than 10 hours of running, but didn't complete.
If you experience that behaviour, just have a look at your tblFact<App> table. If it's still empty, the optimization wasn't successfull (i asume, that you do a FULL optimization, cause your packages run at night).
The usual way to solve this problem is running the optimization separately for each application. In your case, I would build up a custom package, which will optimize the applications separately.

You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Updating Firefox]]. There is a lot of good information in there and some troubleshooting steps as well.
If that doesn't work, you might want to try installing a fresh copy of Firefox:

I would suggest that you first back up your personal information and bookmarks, just in case. You can find details in the article [[Backing up your information]].

Captivate 8 Installer Win 8 never completes initializing

I've upgraded to a new computer with Windows 8. I've downloaded Captivate 8 and allowed the packages to create the installation directory. I am using a SSD boot drive, and I am installing applications on a secondary drive. I'm following the instructions in the ReadMe document. When I run the Set-up application as Administrator, the installer never completed initializing, but "disappears". If I try to run the installer again, I get a message that the Adobe Installer is already running. I see the Adobe Application Manager running in the background, but I'm stuck.
I've double-checked the hardware requirements, and everything is good. Is there something simple I'm missing? Thanks for any help in advance!

Here's the final update on this, again in case someone runs into something similar.
The issue wasn't with installing Captivate on a secondary drive. I had another secondary drive that was causing the huge lag. After fixing the problem with that one, Captivate installed like a champ.
Use the Task Manager > Performance tab to identify hardware that may be causing issues.
Fix any hardware issues.
Try to install Captivate again.

Send Unix Command 'reboot' never completes

I'm going to upgrade the OS on a bunch of machines with the software update command line utility.
It's a simple one liner from ARD, send unix command. I want to add a second line with either reboot or shutdown -r now, but when I do, the taks never completes.
The machine does indeed reboot properly, but the task in ARD never appears to stop.
Why is that?

It never officially completes because the system reboots before the ARD client can report back the successful completion of the task. It's sort of like you asking someone to disconnect your telephone and then wanting them to call you to tell you it's been done. I know of no way to send the reboot command as a UNIX command without the ARD task hanging waiting for the "completion", but perhaps someone else here will have an idea. I just wait for the updates to complete and then I use the ARD Restart command rather than a UNIX command.

Hi,
first of all please take a COMPLETE ONLINE Backup. Even if some ML Notes state OFFLINE Backup a complete and valid online backup is enough. Either use RMAN or do it manually.
The time it'll take to upgrade your database depends mainly:
==> the number of objects needing upgrading and recompilation
========> Thus: the number of installed options/components
==> The number of synonyms – they‘ll get recompiled - just applicable if you have a high number of synonyms
==> Valid and non-stale data dictionary statistics
==> At a very low rate if you change compatible:
=====> Number of datafiles
=====> Size of redo logs
This means: the less components/options you have the faster it'll complete. Recompilations is not an issue anymore is it will be done in parallel.
Make sure you install the companion CD (DATABASE PRODUCTS) anyways in your new home and have a look into the "Upgrade Companion for 10gR2" on Metalink as well.

Assuming you see the above error message in the alert log file, which was your original post, follow the below steps:
1 Get the 'ospid' value from the error
2. Issue the below command:
SQL> select request_id,ORACLE_PROCESS_ID
2 from fnd_concurrent_requests
3 where request_id = 15598;
3. After obtaining the request_id
4, Query it from the front-end using SYSADMIN responsibility
Hopefully this should get you the respective concurrent report/program.
