Upgrading device without paying full price
I want to upgrade my device to a smartphone, but Verizon says I can't do this until August, unless I want to pay full price for the phone. Is there anyway around this?
Pretty much your only options, short of adding another line to get an upgrade/new phone, are to look for the phone you want on eBay or Craigslist, sometimes you can get them for close to, or slightly more than the 2 year price, and also avoid having to renew your contract. Depending on what phone you want, I've seen them go from 200.00 to 400.00 (only one thats really up there in cost is the Razr Maxx).

Unfortunately there is no free trial for Acrobat Standard.
You can purchase the Standard version ,and if it does not suit your requirements ,you can return that back to us and opt for the Pro version.There is a 30 day return policy .
The reason being there is a price difference between the Standard and Pro version for Acrobat .

I cannot believe that apple is refusing to help a customer who bought and paid for iWork software just because I bought it from the retail store the App Store says they cannot allow me to upgrade. I have never heard of such. It should to matter where I got it i bought apples software and I don't et how the retail store can be different frothe App Store my god its all still apple. So stupid. I will not pay full price for the upgrade. Also I purchased Logic Studio and 2 days later the upgrade came out and they will not let u upgrade ? I think there should be at Least a 30-45 day window if u purchase software and they release the upgrade u should get not. It's not like apple doesn't make enough money already.
iWork '08 & 09 installed from the retail disk or from the downloaded trial must be updated through Software Update. Those installations will not be recognized as installed by the Mac App Store. In Mountain Lion Software Update has been "rolled into" the Mac App Store. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu just like you always have & the Mac App Store will launch. Depending on what you have that needs updating you may see two sections in the MAS window.
But, as always, if you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '08 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08. If it doesn't have the '08 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
If you are running Pages 3.0.3, then you do have the latest version of Pages from iWork '08. If you want to upgrade to iWork '09, you will need to purchase the new version, just like everyone else. The good news is that you can buy just the individual iWork apps - Keynote, Pages & Numbers - that you need or want for $20 US each from the Mac App Store & then install them on as many Macs as you need using the same Apple ID. -
Really? No educational upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 without paying full price?
We bought the CS5.5 educational copy for our daughter in college. Now she needs CS6. Called about an upgrade and was told there isn't one, that we need to buy a whole new version or use cloud with a monthly fee. Basically our CS5.5 is useless now! I have never been a big fan of monthly subscriptions either. What a rip off!

CS6 upgrade but there is no academic upgrade. If your daughter is still
in school she can buy the full CS6 student version or move to Creative
Cloud. If she's no longer a student she can get the CS5.5 to CS6
commercial upgrade or move to Creative Cloud with intro pricing of
$29.99/month for the first year.
The academic price of Creative Cloud is $29.99/month.

Can't update Aperture from version 3.4.5 to 3.5 without paying full price.
I read about the new Aperture update to version 3.5 but it does not appear in regular software updates. When I found it in the App Store it is listed at $79.99. I already own Aperture and currently have version 3.4.5. I understood this to be a free update.
It is a free update, most users are getting it without a problem however some users seem to be having difficulty.
First thing the update is only for system running Mavericks. HA=ave you upgraded the OS yet?
If you have is Aperture installed in the systems Applications folder and named Aperture. These two points are important for Software Update to do its thing.
Have you tun Software Update and update from the Mac App Store. In my case it did not show up in the App Store until I had updated from 3.4.5 to 3.5.
Some users have had success getting the upgrade by uninstalling Aperture, reinstalling from their original media and then running Software Update. Remember if you try this you will need your serial numbers for Aperture so make sure you have them before trying it. -
Usually there is a upgrade path for current users of the software at a reduced price. I dont see anything like that for Lightroom 6. Will I have to pay full price just to upgrade to the new LR6 standalone version???

Being made to lose unlimited data, even though I am paying full price???
I've been around and have been following the discussions/policies about those of us who have unlimited data and how we will lose unlimited data if we purchase a new device taking advantage of the discount pricing. I also know the workarounds of how to keep unlimited data but what I don't understand is this....
I have 3 smartphones, all have unlimited data. 1 of the 3 phones is eligible for an upgrade, 2 of them are not.
While signed into my account, I select the phone that is eligible for an upgrade and go into the ordering system. I select the new phone I want to buy and I have the option before adding the new phone to my cart to either: pay full price, or pay the discounted price. I chose the full price option (and this is the one-time full price, not the monthly payment plan option just to be clear) and then add the new phone to my cart. That's when I get a pop-up window that says my unlimited data plan is no longer available and that I would have to chose a new (capped) data plan. Without making any new choice in this pop-up window, I close the window. I then click through the various pages of the ordering system getting up to the point of reviewing my cart. And at the review cart/review order page, I also see that the system automatically removed my unlimited data plan and slapped on a 2gb individual (not family share) data plan.
So it would clearly seem that if an upgrade is available on a phone and even choosing to pay full price, and purposefully avoiding taking advantage of the upgrade price, the ordering system is all too eager to take that unlimited data plan away EVEN IF you chose the full price option, despite VZW's repeated statements that if you elect to pay the one-time full price you can keep your unlimited data plan. I tried seeking a clarification of this issue with an online chat representative through the chat button in the ordering process and the only solution from the chat rep was to just order the new phone and pay the full price on one of the 2 phones not currently eligible for an upgrade.
So what's your response to this VZW? I would appreciate a policy statement to these issues and this situation.So I went back into the ordering system today and did the EXACT same steps I did previously by making sure I selected the one-time pay-in-full price, adding the new phone to my cart and walking the ordering system all the way up to the cart and guess what....oh low and behold.....now after posting this message, I am not getting the system prompt I was getting previously about not being able to keep my unlimited data plan (even though I was very precise in confirming my first attempt was at the one-time pay-in-full price the first time which prompted my first post).
So I guess it was just cleaner and less publicly humiliating for VZW to quietly fix their ordering system then it was to acknowledge their ordering system was forcing customers off unlimited data even when the customer was trying to pay full price in one payment for a new phone despite the Company's very public and very on the record statements that customers choosing to pay the one-time pay-in-full price would be able to keep their unlimited plan. -
Why the contract extension even after paying full price? Unlimited Grandfathered user!
So, I'm a grandfathered unlimited user. I just placed an order for iPhone 6 at apple.com, and i'm willing to pay the full price for the phone. But why does apple.com show that i'll still be signing a 2 year contract and paying a 30 dollar upgrade fee to verizon? Isn't it bad enough that i'm having to pay full price on the phone?
Or am I missing something here?Because Apple and Best Buy etc. Do not have full access to your Verizon wireless account.
You must either visit a Verizon corporate store or call or use Verizon wireless web portal to get your device. Not a reseller.

I really want the iPhone threw verizon wireless! But I don't know if I want to pay 7 hundred something? My upgrade is in nov but don't want to wait! My question is- can I go to apple store or buy iPhone some where else cheaper and bring to verizon wireless to activate it?
i ordered the iphone so i cant say dont get it but im pretty sure apple is gonna come out with another iphone in the summer so if u could wait then that would be worth paying full price for but if u still want this iphone then like the poster^^^ get it from apple.

5 days ago I bought a 13" MacBook Air from an apple store. It does not have Maverick on it! I paid full price for it, but since it has the old operating system I kind of feel like I bought a "clearance" item but payed full price for it! Does anyone have any advice, wisdom etc. This is my first Mac and I'm really bummed that it's not the latest and greatest. I know I can download maverick for free.....but are there other differences? Maybe something else that I thought I was getting but didn't? Thanks.
There is no difference, you didnt get "shorted" Mavericks is a FREE DOWNLOAD
Open the APP store and download Mavericks.
You didnt buy a "clearance" item, you just got an Air that was there at the shop before Mavericks was released.
There is no difference other than a 40 min. download.
