Upgrading EBS 11.5.9 from 32-bit to 64-bit

my company is planning upgrade EBS 11.5.9 from 32-bit to 64-bit. I have found out in this forum mentioned 11i Apps tier cannot be upgrade to 64-bit. Can we upgrade our oracle database 9.2.0.3.0 from 32-bit to 64-bit? Which version of RHEL can support 9.2.0.3.0? Is there any issue accessing oracle between Apps (32-bit) & DB server (64-bit, if able to upgraded from 32-bit)?
Currently we are using 32-bit RHEL AS 2.1.

Which version of RHEL can support 9.2.0.3.0? Check the certification matrix from MOS for the list of supported Linux OS with this database version.

Currently we are using 32-bit RHEL AS 2.1.There should be no issues -- Using Oracle Applications with a Split Configuration Database Tier on Oracle 9i Release 2 [ID 304489.1]
Any reason you are still on 9.2.0.3 and not upgrading to 11gR2?

Are there any issues in upgrading application from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3 , I heard that we can not upgrade application to R12.1.3 with 11.2.0.2 ,is it true.

As mentioned above, there should be no issues in upgrading 11i with 11gR2 instance to R12.

  • Upgrading Solaris 10 from 32-bit to 64-bit in a VirtualBox VM

    Hello,
I am running 32-bit Sol 10 u5 x86 as a guest in a Sun VirtualBox (Vbox) virtual machine on a 32-bit WinXP host with 64-bit VT-capable Xeon processors, and am considering upgrading Solaris 10 to 64-bit using the latest version of Vbox (2.0.0). After installing WinXP Professional x64 and the 64-bit version of Vbox, will I have to completely re-install Sol 10 to get it to run in 64-bit, or is there some way to get it to 64-bit without a re-install? The Vbox forums suggested that I post this question on a Solaris forum, as they don't know the answer.
They apparently also do not know if Windows XP x64 is a compatible host OS on which to run 64-bit guests. They list only Vista, Linux, and OpenSolaris as supported 64-bit host OSs. Has anyone used WinXP x64 as a host for Vbox 64-bit guests? Due to policy, Vista is not available to me on my system/network.
    Thank you...

The x86 installer will place both 32-bit and 64-bit code on the disk.
The loader fired by GRUB will attempt to detect the proper hardware and launch the correct kernel.
Other portions of the upgrade could conceivably cause a problem, but having the CPUs go from 32-bit only to 64-bit capable shouldn't be an issue. You don't have to make any changes.

  • Migrating EBS from 32-bit  to 64-bit

    Hi,
I have a R12 Instance(12.1.3) with 11.1.0.7 database on 32-bit Linux. Now we are planning to do a clone of the existing R12 Instance to a newly created 64-bit Linux server. So i would like to know the steps involved in migrating the E-Business Suite from 32-bit to 64-bit.
    Regards,
    Vineel.C

I had gone through the Metalink Note[471566.1] which you had sent me. It was useful but internally it had referred to another Note:762669.1 which says in Migrate from Linux 32-bit to Linux 64-bit
h.Upgrade the database from 32-bit to 64-bit (recompile pl/sql modules and change the word size) by running $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql. Refer to the usage and notes sections in the script for instructions on how to run it.
But in general utlrp.sql is used for compiling Invalid objects.
Can you elaborate on this.Because of the word size change (from 32-bit to 64-bit), the database objects will be invalidated and you need to run utlrp.sql script to compile them.
    Difference between UTLRP.SQL - UTLIRP.SQL - UTLIP.SQL? [ID 272322.1]
    Changing between 32-bit and 64-bit Word Sizes [ID 62290.1] -- Step 16. Run utlirp.sql

  • Upgrade EBS 11.5.10.2 from HP-UX to Linux R12.1.3 including the database

    Hello All
I know there are other threads with the same question and i have been to almost all of them. Somehow i am still not able to understand it
So i am posting it here. Sorry about that
Upgrade EBS 11.5.10.2 from HP-UX to Linux R12.1.3 including the database from 10.2.0.3 HP-UX to Linux x86-64 11.2.0.3
First thing is we would like to keep our production system untouched even during the go live in case of any failures we can fallback to old HP-UX systems
    We have three servers
SERVER 1 :- DATABASE, concurrent manager and admin node
SERVER 2 :- FORMS, WEB, REPORT and DISCOVERER
SERVER 3 :- iSupplier Portal for external users with forms and web
    The new system would like
    SERVER 1 :- DATABASE NODE
SERVER 2:- CONCURRENT, ADMIN, FORMS, WEB, REPORT and DISCOVERER
SERVER 3:- iSupplier Portal for external users
I believe the first step should be creating a 10.2.0.3 database on Linux. Install 10.2.0.3 software on Linux.
Export from hp-ux using note 362205.1 and import it on Linux. This will create my Oracle Applications 11i database with data.
Once this is complete for the application tier we would like to move from multi node to single node. I was following the note 238276.1 but it is not very clear how do i copy
concurrent node from server 1 and server 2 with forms, web, report and discoverer to single Linux server ?
Also for the iSupplier server 3 how does the steps follow ?
Can someone please provide some steps in detail ?
Also please correct me if i am wrong on the database part.
    Thanks

  • EBS 12 and Java 8.40, 32 Bit and 64 Bit

Has anyone had success using both EBS and Discoverer with Java 8.40?
If so, what settings did you use?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
You can't upgrade a 32-bit to 64-bit version, this always requires a full re-installation. There are ways to download the correct media from the microsoft website.
See this page for example: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only
    Good luck!

I am in a process of upgrading EBS from 12.0.4 to 12.1.1. I have applied patch 7461070 (from making R12.AD.B.1 )
Then i started patch 7303030. It was going on fine for some time but now i am facing below error.
There are now 18510 jobs remaining (current phase=A8):
3 running, 9 ready to run and 18498 waiting.
Deferred: file jtf_diagnostic_test.xdf on worker 4 for product fnd username AP
PS. (Deferment number 2 for this job)
Assigned: file az_structure_apis_b.xdf on worker 4 for product az username AP
    PS.
FAILED: file AHL_MR_HEADERS_B.xdf on worker 1 for product ahl username APPS.
FAILED: file az_sel_set_ent_b.xdf on worker 2 for product az username APPS.
FAILED: file az_structure_apis_tl.xdf on worker 3 for product az username A
    PPS.
FAILED: file az_structure_apis_b.xdf on worker 4 for product az username AP
    PS.
ATTENTION: All workers either have failed or are waiting:
FAILED: file AHL_MR_HEADERS_B.xdf on worker 1.
FAILED: file az_sel_set_ent_b.xdf on worker 2.
FAILED: file az_structure_apis_tl.xdf on worker 3.
FAILED: file az_structure_apis_b.xdf on worker 4.
ATTENTION: Please fix the above failed worker(s) so the manager can continue.
Then i searched and in worker log (present at D:\oracle\PROD\apps\apps_st\appl\admin\PROD\log) i found this.
    Performing AOL meta data updates
    Error during upload of Fnd_Primary_Keys
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:

    AD Worker error:

    AD Worker error:
The above program failed. See the error messages listed
above, if any, or see the log and output files for the program.
Time when worker failed: Wed Jul 01 2009 19:02:36
Please tell me what i need to do in order to apply the patch successfully.
    Thank You,
    Niranjan.

    Hi,
Yes all of my worker logs are giving same error.
In one of your thread i read that "You need to apply R12.AD.B.1 (Patch 7461070) before applying 12.1.1 Maintenance Pack."
So i applied this pack successfully.
Also i ran adpatch with options=prereq. and i got the below warning :
    AutoPatch warning:
option: "prereq" is not supported on R12
So i applied Patch 7461070 and then started with patch 7303030.
    Thank You,
    Niranjan
