Upgrading Essbase 9.3.1.3 32-bit to 64-bit

We currently have the 32-bit version of Essbase 9.3.1.2 along with Oracle BI 10.1.3.4 running on a 64-bit Windows 2003 OS. We want to upgrade to 64-bit Essbase 9.3.1.2. Do we need to uninstall the 32-bit and install the 64-bit Essbase? If we do this, will it affect the OBI installation? Will I need to uninstall and reinstall OBI?
Thanks in advance,
Terri

You should just be able to uninstall and then install essbase again (reboot the machine after you have uninstalled), I would make sure you have backed up your essbase applications.
OBIEE is just using the essbase client so you shouldn't need to install again.
Cheers

  • Upgrading EBS 11.5.9 from 32-bit to 64-bit

my company is planning upgrade EBS 11.5.9 from 32-bit to 64-bit. I have found out in this forum mentioned 11i Apps tier cannot be upgrade to 64-bit. Can we upgrade our oracle database 9.2.0.3.0 from 32-bit to 64-bit? Which version of RHEL can support 9.2.0.3.0? Is there any issue accessing oracle between Apps (32-bit) & DB server (64-bit, if able to upgraded from 32-bit)?
Currently we are using 32-bit RHEL AS 2.1.

I found something that could be a workaround ... wel at least it's gotten me one step further (windows 7 now recognizes the scanner as the right device (symbol usb sync cradle), but step 8 keeps failing.
    source : http://www.pocketpcjunkies.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/wince/5660/Windows-CE-5-or-6-with-Vista-and-Windows-Mobile-Device-Center
    1. Install WMDC 6.
    2. Plus the Windows CE based device.
    3. Close the "Found new hardware" wizard.
    4. Right-click on "Computer" and select "Manage"
    5. Open the Device Manager, then select the Windows CE based device.
    6. Right-click and select "Update driver..."
    7. In the wizard, select "pick from a list..."
    8. In the list, select "Microsoft USB Sync [Microsoft]".
    9. ... nothing else! It works!
Anything else I could try now?The first time I tried step 8, the microsoft usb sync driver was in the list but I got an error while updating the driver. The second time, it didn't appear on the list anymore. I'm thinking this is more of a 64-bit driver problem.

  • What version of Essbase Excel add-in support 64 bit Windows 7 on our PC?

    1) Can anyone tell us what is latest version of 64 bit Essbase Excel-add-in 11.1.1.3.x and will this latest version of Essbase Excel add-in support 64 bit Windows 7 on our PC?
    2) we downloaded Essbase excel add-in 11.1.2 and was not able to connect to Essbase 11.1.1.3 server. It gave an error message - "This version is newer than the Essbase server." Is there a workaround? (we were hoping 11.1.2 would support 64 bit windows 7)
ps. There is a knowlegebase article that teaches us how to get Smartview 11.1.2 to connect to Essbase. We could not quite follow the badly written KB artible, but Ms. V from Oracle tech support claims she was able to connect and she wrote the article.
We did manage to get Smartview 11.1.2 to connect to Planning 11.1.1.3!!

    Thanks John and Jasmine.
    John,
I am able to connect using Essbase excel add-in 11.1.2 and see the list of Essbase server 11.1.1.3 app/databases. However when I tried to select one of the applications/databases, I get the Essbase warning "This version of Essbase 11.1.1.3) is older than the version of the Essbase API (11.1.2.0) you are using."
I get sent back to Essbase system Login screen and am asked to select a app/database. Add-in keeps giving me the above message - none of the 11.1.1.3 databases would allow me to connect.
I guess you guys did not experience this problem?

  • Upgrade Essbase apps

We need to upgrade Essbase cubes from Version 11.1.1.3 to Version 11.1.2. We have both environments sitting on windows box.
I was assuming that we can do this using LCM in Shared Services, but the essbase apps do not show up in Shared Services, only HFM and FDM apps show up in Shared services.
I could not find any proper documentation on how to do this upgrade, so not sure how to go about it. Pls advise.

The issue was with the access. Once I had enough rights, i was able to add the old essbase server on to the new one and then migrate the apps.
    So Thank you guys.
The other issue, I came accross now is that I am able to migrate the apps easilly when I use the "Novice" option. But if I use the "Advanced" option to migrate the users and groups, the EAS takes a very long time and then hangs and sometimes even crashed, having to restart the services.
So, is the a better option of migrating the users/groups seperately.
Also, Once i have migrated the apps, how do i migrate the maxl sciprts sitting on the old server (11.1.1.3)

  • Cannot do wireless printing to HP Photosmart C7180 since upgrading to Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I recently upgraded one of my new HP p6150t Pavillion PCs from Vista Home Premium 64-bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  Since then I have not been able to print to my networked printer, an HP Photosmart C7180 All-in-One, which is wireless on my home network. When this PC was Vista, I was able to print. Two other PCs on my home network, both running XP, can access the printer across the network and print.  This PC now running Windows 7 64-bit can find the networked printer when I "Add-a-printer", and I am able to finish the installation of the printer.
I downloaded and installed new drivers for the HP C7180 from the HP website specifically for Windows 7 64-bit, so I have the latest drivers. (The version of the drivers is 13.1.0, date is 10-2009. From the same HP printer driver download site, I also installed " HP Print Software Patch When Upgrading Vista to Windows 7".
I do not want to install the printer as a shared device on any of the other PCs, but rather want to be able to print from any of them, direct wirelessly, even if the other PCs are offline.  And I was able to do this when I used Vista...
If I open and leave visible the print queue for the printer, and then print a Test Page, I see the print job briefly shown as "Spooling" and then as "Printing" in the print queue display, but nothing ever reachs the printer. There are no error messages, either during the process of Adding the Printer, or when sending Test Pages, or other print jobs to the printer.
I have McAfee antivirus and Firewall installed on all of my PCs. The Firewall advanced setting for Networks shows that the IP address range for all of my IPs are trusted.
[Although I just bought this PC from hp.com only 4 months ago, as part of a package of 2 PCs, a MediaSmart server, big hdtv monitor, and all with 4 year extended support agreements, HP provides "NO" support for network printing. That was what a support specialist called to tell me after I sent an email to the HP CEO.  HP PCs, HP printer, HP provided upgrade kit for Windows 7, but if you want to actually print from your HP PC to your HP printer, there is "NO" support.  (I worked for HP for ten years, but it is clearly a different company now.)  So, if anyone in the Community can assist, I would very much appreciate it.]

I have a year old Epson and an HP.. I upgraded to a win 7 64 bit and doing some sharing/networking.. Got some 32 bit XPand two win 7 64 bit..   The Epson ,shares and connects up  with no issues.. the HP is just a fiasco...   No more HP for me ...

  • ILLUSTRATOR 7 and upgrades to CS2 on a new 64-bit system

I have a new computer running a 64-bit version of Windows and want to download my Illustrator 7 and subsequent upgrade Illustrator 8, Illustrator 10, and Illustrator CS2. I received a message saying 'cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows.' How can I overcome this problem?

You'll probably find that you will need to run the apps in XP compatibility mode which should emulate a 32 bit OS. I wouldn't count on AI7 or AI8 working though.

  • Need to Re-activate CS4 after upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 (32 bit)

I have a laptop running Vista 32-bit with Lightroom 2.7 and Photoshop CS4 installed.  I'm planning to upgrade the computer from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 32-bit, upgrading in place to avoid having to reformat and reinstall all the software.  Will Photoshop still be activated after the upgrade or will I need to re-activate it?  If I need to reactivate, will the OS change make the activation process think the software has been moved to a new computer?  It is currently activated on two machines (one of which is this laptop) as it is and don't want the activation wizard to think I'm putting it on third machine in violation of the license.  Should I de-activate it before upgrading the OS and then re-activate once the system upgrade is complete?  After the OS change I plan to upgrade the Adobe software to Lightroom 3 and PS CS5 - does the activation of CS4 even matter in that case?  Anyone done a Vista->Win7 upgrade in place and offer any suggestions?

You are a brave man indeed, John.
An in-place upgrade is still a bad idea though.

  • Upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro (64-bit)

    Aloha!
I needed to buy a new PC and re-install Lightroom (Desktop version 5.2) and when I proceeded to check for updates Lightroom CC 2015 was installed; which is great since I subscribe to the Photography Plan via Creative Cloud Although being blonde, I'm a bit confused as to whether I should uninstall my desktop version of Lightroom (install it on another machine) or seek direction for a way to upgrade the desktop version to 5.7. Unfortunately I'm not always connected to the internet therefore I'm not certain if Lightroom CC 2015 will function properly.
I greatly appreciate any assistance/direction/ideas. BTW, none of this would be an issue if my Mac didn't die

  • DB upgrade from 10.2.0.3 32-bit to 10.2.0.4 32-bit on Windows Server 03

    Hi
    Below is my Env:
    OS: Windows Server 2003 32-bit
Oracle Version: Oracle Standard Edition 10.2.0.3 32-bit
    Only 1 database
I am planning to upgrade this database to Oracle 10.2.0.4 Standard Edition 32-bit. My upgrade path is to install 10.2.0.1 Standard Edition in separate ORACLE_HOME & then patch it to 10.2.0.4 & then perform the Database upgrade. I would appreciate some help in following areas..
    1) What Services needs to be stopped in Windows to confirm a safe shutdown of all services in 10.2.0.3 Oracle Home
    2) Do i need to delete services from old Oracle Home & then re-create them in 10.2.0.4 Home before initiating DBUA from 10.2.0.4?
    3) Do i need to change any registry values in this upgrade process?
Any information or links to find this information would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Harris.

    Thanks to both for inputs.
I tried to find the following information but couldn't get it anywhere. Can you let me know if following needs to be performed as well?
I have single database (TESTDB), which is configured with database control. Along with OracleServiceTESTDB, i have following services
    OracleServiceTESTDB
    OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListenerTESTDB
    OracleDBConsoleTESTDB
    OracleJobSchedulerTESTDB
Also the server has MSDTC service running.
I understand i need to stop all of these services in the old home before i do anything related to Upgrade. I have few more questions on this
    1) Do i need to delete all other services i.,e dbconsole, jobscheduler, tnslistener from the old oracle home at the same time when deleting the SID using oradim?
    2) Do all these services need to be re-created in 10.2.0.4 home before invoking DBUA? If yes, is ORADIM still the utility to use?
    Thanks,
    Harris.

  • Compaq Presario F572us upgraded to Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

I just upgraded my F572us from Vista HP to Win 7 HP and would like to upgrade my memory from 2gb.  What type cards and how much gb?  Also, Windows has been doing some major updating, but how do I know if all drivers have been updated, to include BIOS?
    This question was solved.

No. Worst case it just does not POST. It may also just be a bit unstable so if you get 3 or 4 to work to POST go in and do something demanding like play a game to see if it bluescreens or something. it will not do permanent harm and if it is unstable just drop back to the next level.

  • Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade Program site is broken (forcing 64-bit to 32-bit)

When I attempt to register my T400 for upgrade to Windows 7 the website offers me the incorrect upgrade.
If I set the Original Windows OS installed to: Windows Vista Business 64-bit
the Eligible upgrade Windows 7 product is: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
The opposite is also true; original Vista Business 32-bit -> upgrade Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
Other version upgrades also give the same problem.

Use ABR tool to backup your product key.
Download a 32 bit version of your windows 7
Install, then activate with with your old product key, and install all drivers as needed
If you want a copy of the Lenovo disc:
Lenovo media can be ordered in 32/64 bit versions for ~$45

  • Upgraded to 8GB RAM - Windows 7 64-Bit Not Using All of It

I just upgraded my 3.02GHz MacbookPro to 8GB RAM and in both Mac and Windows (64-Bit) it acknowledges that I have 8GB installed. However in Windows 7's task manager it shows:
    Total Physical Memory 8167MB
    Cached 4500MB
    Available 4557MB
    Free 91MB
and it shows I'm only using 3.51GB....Why only 91MB free? In Adobe Illustrator I am getting not enough RAM errors so it seems like Windows 7 is tapping out at the old 4GB ceiling. Anyone know if this is a setting that is easily modified so I can use all 8GB?
    Thanks!

  • Upgrading Essbase to a different ARBORPATH

I'll soon be upgrading a client's environment from Essbase version 6.1 to 6.5, and I'd appreciate some feedback on my approach to the upgrade process. My problem is that the new installation directory for Essbase will be different to the current one. The current ARBORPATH is /apps/essbase/ess610p3 (lets call this ARBORPATH_old), whereas the new installation will be to /apps/essbase/ess6542 (ARBORPATH_new). $ARBORPATH_old/app contains the application directories, outlines etc, and the page and index files are stored in other file systems.Once Essbase 6.1 is shutdown and the new binaries installed, I will copy the contents of $ARBORPATH_old/app/ to $ARBORPATH_new/app/. Then the Essbase.sec and Essbase.cfg files will be copied from $ARBORPATH_old/bin to $ARBORPATH_new/bin/. The .profile will then be modified to include the new values for ARBORPATH, PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and the 6.5 server started. The VALIDATE command will then be run on all cubes to upgrade the .IND and .PAG files. Is this approach valid? Is there anything other than the /app directories and the Essbase.sec and .cfg files I'll need to copy to make the new instance 'recognise' the existing cubes? Thanks in advanceCRAIGSTER

I think you will have problems with your approach. The problem will be with your data and index files. It would be best to export the data from the old version before the change, then copy everything except .pag, .ind, .esm and .tct files. Copy your security file then laod the data. The problem is that path info is stored in some of the files. Also, you need to copy over all applications in the app directory. If there are some you don't want. Delete them through application manager or EAS after the change. Oterwise the security file could have problems with the phantom applications. Glenn S. [email protected]
