  • Transfer Factory Installed Programs from microSD t...

    Hi all,
I am new to the Smartphone / S60 scene, so bear with me if I ask a foolish question. My N95 intermittently claims that my microSD chip is corrupt. As I worry the situation will deteriorate, I wish to transfer the data to my phone memory. I know how to handle user created content (image, sound, video etc.) just fine.
What I have trouble with are the applications that were factory-installed. A quick consultation with the App. Mgr. in the Tools folder shows a number of applications residing on my microSD. How do I move these to the phone memory?
On PCs, most applications can't be moved. They have to be uninstalled and reinstalled. Is this the case with S60? Where are the installation files? What is the EXE equivalent in S60? Seems like a long and arduous job. Why did Nokia install some programs on an external memory? I am sure many people intend to change cards when 2GB ones become more common place!
Hope someone will spare the time to tell me. Thank you in advance!
    JC

    Dear Scoobyman,
Thank you for your reply. I bought my N95 from the official Nokia shop directly. The microSD came with the N95 and was found inside the box itself. The microSD is labelled with the Nokia logo.
According to the App. Mgr., the following programs lie on the microSD:
[*] DRM Common Solutions - not sure what this is but it's the name of the company that makes the next item
[*] Psiloc Extended Recorder - a sound recorder
[*] Email Sites - a sub-folder that contains links to email sites
[*] Hot Sites - a sub-folder that contains links to websites
[*] E-Learning For N95 - an education package of English idioms
[*] Theme DIY - very useful application for full-screen wallpaper
    [*] Scanlife - a 2D barcode reader
[*] Windows Live Messenger - MSN's instant messenger
[*] K-mobile Client - some kind of Karoke program
    [*] EbookN95 - actual e-books in the local language
[*] mPocket Hiking Guide - hiking guide for the local region
[*] MapKing - a GPS navigation tool for the region
By the looks of things, it seems as if these programs were additionally added for the local market. My questions are:
[1] How do I migrate the applications across to the phone memory?
[2] If it involves reinstallation, where are the installation files kept, and under what extension are the executable files?
    Thank you for your assistance.

  • Upgrading factory-installed apps.

    Hi,
In my new E71 , I upgraded Nokia Maps and Nokia VPN to the latest versions with no problem.
Now I'd like to upgrade the S60browser to the latest version, in order to have the latest web runtime and (not sure about this) it may come also  with a new flash plugin and player that will support flash video.
I looked on the Nokia site, but I can't find it. Does anybody know the link for the latest S60 browser?
On a side question..I assume that when I upgrade factory apps (like Maps and VPN) they get replaced in the phone flash memory... and not duplicated..right?
    Thanks so much!
    Gonzalo

The browser on the E71 cannot be upgraded separately.
It and the flash version get upgraded as part of firmware updates.
All you can do is check that you have the latest firmware version or if you already have it you will have to wait for the next one and hope that they update it.
    www.nokia.com/softwareupdate
When you update maps it does replace the previous version but can use extra space depending on the size of the update.  If you every fully reset your phone the old version will return.

  • OSX Factory Install - Program Removal

    Hi,
I've had my black MacBook all of 5 days and I've been spending a lot of time on this and other forums picking up a bunch of good tips (thanks everyone) and in all that reading I've seen several places where people refer to freeing up HD space by removing programs that come pre-installed with OSX, but I've not come across a list of things that are safe to remove. What are some of the things that are safe to remove, better yet what are the thing that I shouldn't touch? I assume things like iPhoto can be removed, since I'll be using Lightroom. Being new to Mac I don't want to accidentally remove something that I need.
    Thanks,
    JB

If you want, you can also use appdelete which is third party program that will delete installed application along with its library and preference that usually not included if you drag the application to trash and empty it.
    http://reggie.ashworth.googlepages.com/appdelete
Also you can use monolingual that will remove other language that installed by default that you don't use.
    http://monolingual.sourceforge.net/
Make sure to UNCHECK the language that you use (english?), and don't play with input menu and architecture since it might make your macbook unresponsive and you ended up with reinstalling your OS again while the space those option claim is not that significant.
Also use machelpmate or Onyx to delete temporary and user cache file, repair permission and optimize your HD.

    Good Luck.

  • Install programs form the recovery disk to the upgraded windows

    hi
I have HP G60-230us and I've upgraded form windows vista to windows 7. I used to use the programs which came with the computer. but when i upgraded to windows 7 all the programs were deleted. I need these programs.
Can I install these programs from the recovery-disks to the new windows?

No, the recovery disks will only put your computer back to the condition it came from the factory which is Vista.  Did you actually do an upgrade or clean install.  If you truly did an upgrade you should have a folder on your C drive titled SWSetup.  This folder has all the originally installed programs.  If you did a clean install and lost all the programs and the SWSetup folder then you may have lost these programs.......unless they are available at the HP website.  Go to hp.com and click Support and Drivers and enter your part number or model and you will find most of the programs and drivers are available for download.

  • Do u think free upgrades and coupons will go away on PCs when Win 7 is available 4 factory install?

Okay, so it looks like HP releases their laptop special offers each week on Sunday. There are some decent upgrades on the HDX 18t. I wanted to wait for the factory install of Windows 7 to come out before ordering. I spoke to a CSR and she said the earliest I could order to have Windows 7 factory installed will be on October 18th.
My question is this, do you think that HP has some really good deals on computers trying to lull people into ordering now rather than waiting for the upgrade? Do you think we'll see these same types of offers once Windows 7 is released?
Am I being paranoid in wanting to wait until I can get Windows 7 factory installed in order to avoid any potential upgrade issues? Or should I just pull the trigger when there are some some decent upgrades.
Having never bought a laptop from HP, do they typically have free upgrades & coupons like this, or will these go away?
    Thanks in advance!

As of know we don't have any information regarding the same however if you are using the windows 7 upgrade discs then it will there and if you are using retail version of Windows 7 then you might now receive...

classic 32 & 64 bit shell extension dlls (%windows%\system32\shellext resp %windows%\syswow64\shellext) are not preserved across system upgrades, yet the programs that installed the extensions are. copying them manually from windows.old is a workaround,

  • NOT SHOWING FACTORY INSTALLED SOFTWARES IN " RECOVERY MANAGER "

I'VE TRIED TO REINSTALL SOME SOFTWARE PROGMS BY USING  " RECOVERY MANAGER ".
BUT I DIDNT FIND ANY FACTORY INSTALLED SOFTWARE PROGRAMS.
    PLZ ASSIST ME.
I WILL BE WAITING FOR UR KIND REPLY.
    THANK U SO MUCH.

That is odd - that is, as long as the integrity of the Recovery Manager is intact, I would expect it to work.
    For example,
If you have reinstalled the system using other than the Recovery Manager,
or if you have upgraded the Operating System,
or added / Removed data from the Recovery Partition,
OR if the Recovery Manager is corrupted in some way,
    then
the Recovery Manager will either not work at all, or may at least show inconsistancies.

You might try using a Restore Point to "go back in time" and see if the setting can recover.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
HP PCs - Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 8)
You can go to your system's website for the current Drivers and Software that are available for your computer.
First, create a place to which you can return in case things do not work as you hope:
    Create a restore point
Install Software and Drivers from HP Website
Go to the top of the HP forum page to Support and Drivers
If prompted, Enter your Country or Region and
    Enter your Computer Model information,
    Go to Software and Drivers...
Enter your Operating System in the Drop-down menu...  Scroll down
Select desired Category Software – Solutions >> Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices
NOTE:  Download ONLY the relevant drivers and software for YOUR hardware - note that in the website you might find more than one kind of driver for more than one model of computer -- this is normal, but it does not mean YOUR computer uses all the software offered.
Expand and decide if you need to install that package.
Assure that you download and install only the most recent versions of each driver or program.
Save the appropriate *.exe installation package on your computer
NOTE the name and the location - the *.exe file will likely save to "Downloads “
Install the Software / Driver installation package:  If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package(s) and “double-click” to install, else Right-Click, Select ‘run as Administrator’ and install.
NOTE:  There is sometimes a lot of information at the computer’s website.  Take a look at what’s available and bookmark the page for later reference.

  • Factory default program on hp pavillion dv7

how to reset in factory default program on hp pavillion dv7?
    HP Pavilion dv7-1090eo bærbar underholdnings-PC

    Hello Analie,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand you are looking to change the language on your HP Pavilion dv7-1090eo from Norwegian to English. Unfortunately, the Recovery Discs are no longer available for purchase for your computer at this point, but that does not leave you without options.
If you still have Windows Vista installed you can follow the steps in the Microsoft Support document: No need to translate, with this you can Change the display language to English.
If you upgraded to Windows 7 you need Windows 7 Ultimate installed to change the Windows 7 display language. You can do this by following the steps I have set out below:
Install Language Pack in Windows 7 Ultimate
Step 1. Start -> All Programs --> Windows Update --> Optional Updates.
Step 2. Open optional Updates and go to the section Windows 7 Language Packs.
Step 3. Tick the Language Pack you want and hit OK
Step 4. Proceed with Install Updates
Step 5. Depiction of Windows 7 downloading a Language Pack
Step 6. Automatic install initiated after download
How to change the Windows 7 Display Language:
Step 1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region / Change the display language
Step 2. Switch the display language in the Choose a display language dropdown menu.
    Step 3. Click OK
Step 4. Log off for the changes to take effect (This will affect only the user profile under which you are currently logged on).
If you have Windows 7, but not Windows 7 Ultimate you can upgrade your operating system to Windows 7 Ultimate which includes Multilingual User Interface (Language Pack) support. You can then install the English Language Pack from under Regional and Language settings in Control Panel.
You can do an Anytime Upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate which will preserve your personal files and settings: Windows Anytime Upgrade: frequently asked questions, should answer any questions you have concerning this.

  • What are the steps to make it seamless for a customer to use the install program and then use the installed program?

I wrote an install program (.exe) that is downloaded from a website.  When run, it 1) leads a customer to browse to a directory, and 2) copies files (.exe, .dll, etc.) from a website to that directory.  When I run, the installed program works.
What are the steps to make it seamless for a customer to use the install program and then use the installed program?

This site https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/2kt85ked%28v=vs.110%29.aspx provides a basic description of the Visual Studio Windows Installer.
Near the bottom of the page is "You can unlock all the features of InstallShield by paying to upgrade to the full version of InstallShield."  Where do I find info that describes the differences between the "free" and the "full"
    versions?
    bhs67
    Hello,
The default feature does support the task for your requirement, so there is no need to pay for the other features unless you want to use some feature which is not free.
    In addition, as this thread

  • I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program.

I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and upgraded the memory and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program. I can see the hard drive in the disk utilities window however it wont let me do anything.
It is a seagate 1TB SATA II drive however it is displaying it as a 7.3 TB.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
I have tried to erase and partition and get the same error message each time, 'Input/Output error'.
I have tried starting the thing with the install disk which is Mac OS X (Tiger?) which came with the computer. No good.
    Anyone?

Thats correct. I can see it in the list however when I attempt to erase it or partition it it's like it's not being found or recognised and it throws up the input/output error message. I am pretty sure that the sensor it attached correctly and it is a SATA drive. I can see all the infor regarding the drive when disk utility is open and it all looks good but I cant access it or do anything with it. It's taunting me!
The install disk is in the drive and the install program runs right up to the point where you have to select the location for the install and there is just nothing in the box where you have to select the hard drive icon.
I have my suspiscions about the drive but any help would be appreciated.

  • Labview 8.2 application builder - installer deletes previously installed programs

    Problem Description :
I've been developing with LabView for 8+ years and recently had to upgrade from 6.1 to 8.2 because of compatibility issues with LabView, MAX, DAQ and SERIAL. LabView had always been so intuitive and efficient, but that has changed to some degree sometime after 6.1 IMO.  I won't get further into that, but I am having several problems with Application Builder and particularly, with creating an Installer and installing test programs.  I haven't seen many posts on this subject so I assume I am doing something wrong.
In 6.1, I could build a program and create an installer in minutes, and all in the same step - Click on Build and the installer was created. I could also locate my files anywhere I wanted. Unfortunately the process in 8.2 is no where as simple as one has to create a build and installer separately. So far, I haven't been able to distribute my installer files where I want them according to our internal procedures. The build portion works fine and I can locate my files as needed, but not so for the installer (at least I haven't figured it out yet).  The main problem is that I have some common DLLs that I'd like to locate in a common directory for all of my programs, but it seems like I'm stuck putting them in the installation directory of every program that I write.  Again, it is fine in build.  There doesn't seem to be any flexibility in changing the location of the files in the installer.  I did see a post somewhere that mentioned that DLL files must be located in the system directory if you don't want them included in the build or installation.  I would just like to install the dlls to a common directory and not include them in every installation directory.  Just like I did in LV 6.1!
This is a relatively minor problem compared to what happens when I try to install the programs.
I have five separate programs for which I have recently built and created installers with the limitations that I've described above. I can install one program on my machine and it runs properly. If I try to install any of the
other four, they will delete the previous installation - all the files are deleted (they all have different names). What I think is going on is that the installer thinks that these five programs are the same and simply overwrites the previous installation. One reason I believe this, is because I tried an installation and it failed with the error message that there was already a higher version installed. The higher version it was referring to was almost certainly the one program I could install, but certainly not a higher version of the one I was trying to install (it didn't exist yet). After I uninstalled the one program, I could install any other four. It doesn't matter if I install on  the build computer or the target computer (ATE).
What am I doing wrong?  Please help me to resolve this problem.
I wan't the build and install files in the same exact location:
Example of my five programs and the locations of build and install:
    C:\KIK2-LabView\Customer Name\Base Part Number1\Program1.exe.......
    C:\KIK2-LabView\Customer Name\Base Part Number2\Program2.exe.......
    C:\KIK2-LabView\Customer Name\Base Part Number3\Program3.exe.......
    C:\KIK2-LabView\Customer Name\Base Part Number4\Program4.exe.......
    C:\KIK2-LabView\Customer Name\Base Part Number5\Program5.exe.......
The support files will also be put in the corresponding directories. The common files were supposed to go in the KIK2-LabView directory instead of copies in every installation directory.
Is there something I have to do with the registry? In 6.1 it was all automatic.
I hope there are simple answers to my problems, but I have yet to find them out. I have been able to find very little info on Application Builder, and nothing that is comprehensive.
    Thanks!

    Thank for the reply, Andy
I have scoured the Help files and this forum which helped me to create the build and installer, but they didn't address any of the problems that I described in my post.  I tried to make sure that I exhausted numerous resources before posting and requesting help.
I appreciate the response, but you didn't quite get to my most important problem - that when I try to install a program from the created installer, it overwrites my previously installed program.  Actually I have found the answer in a different thread. --->  http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=140&message.id=16146.  My problem is that I cut and pasted all of my project files and made the appropriate changes specific to each new project.  If you don't create brand new builds and installers in these projects, you will create duplicate registry keys, even though all of the names, numbers, files, etc. were changed to be completely unique.  I opened the .lvproj file in notepad and found several registry keys to be the same; here is an example:
    <Property Name="UpgradeCode" Type="Str">{831013BF-9112-45AA-BF13-A13F08098841}</Property>
All of the projects that I created by cut and paste (and edit) method had this same exact key (as well as other keys) which was causing the previous install to be deleted/overwritten or gave me the message that a higher version already existed.  Again, this happened even though all of the project data was completely unique after it was edited, including the project filename (of course).  Finally, I completely rebuilt my projects from scratch starting with "New Project" and voila, they now all install properly.  Obviously, none shared any of the same registry keys.
I don't know if this is something that was overlooked, but it is so much easier to cut, paste and edit projects when they are very similar.   Unfortunately I have found out the hard way that new build and install spec's must be created.  Is there a change that can be made to the Project File in LabView so that when certain information changes (like the executable file name) that new registry keys will be generated?  It is obvious that you don't want someone to accidentally install a lower version of the project over a newer one, but it would have prevented my work time loss (several days) and will prevent time loss for others in the future as well.  Could you at least consider allowing the developer to generate new keys like was available in LabView 6.1?
Also concerning the location of files, I previously had done all of what you said and can locate the build files where I want.  However, in the Installer (Source Files Tab), when I create the folders in [Windows Volume], all of the files from the build spec are put into the SAME directory, regardless of where they were located in the build spec.  If I try to delete one file, all will be removed.  I can't place individual files where I want them to go in the installer (if they are a part of the build).  Example:  In the installer, I created the subfolders KIK2-LabView\Customer\UUT Base Part Number on the [Windows Volume] directory and set the UUT Base Part Number as default.  I want most of the files to go into the default directory, but a few of the dependent dll's should go into the KIK2-LabView folder as they are common to many other programs/projects.  In short, I don't need or desire 50 copies of these dlls on my ATE.  I was able to locate the installer files anywhere in LabView Pro 6.1, but so far I can't figure out if this is possible in 8.2.  It would appear that it is not.
    Thanks,
    John W.

  • How can I reinstall Office 2003, factory installed on my Sat P10-504?

    Hi,

    Hello,
I just received the upgrade to PS CS6 for Mac.  I currently have PS CS3.
I tried installing, but the installer aborts about 2% into the installation process.  when I click on the error description I get this:

I tried the following, reboot after each process and tried to install each time:
    1. checked the HDD to make sure there's no issue with the drive
    2. repaired permissions
    3. checked for space: there is 45G free space on /Application
    4. uninstall PS CS3 (kept the preference file)
    5. boot into Safe Boot mode
    6.  install from two different admin accounts
all comes back with the above error.
do I have a bad disk, or is there something else I should try?  the error code almost sounds like it's trying to install in / and not in /Applications or something (install program not setting the INSTALLDIR variable correctly...?)

  • Install program for version 6 is hung up

On 8/15/11, I attempted to download the upgrade from Firefox v 5 to version 6.
Something went wrong, because after the install wizard went through its process, it asked me to reboot, which I did, but the Firefox program does not appear on my desktop. Only the install program shows. When I click on the install program, a message appears saying I must reboot. But when I reboot, the same condition exists. Rebooting many times does not change the status. The install program is somehow hung up.
    Can you help?
    Dave

Unfortunately, even if there were a download link it wouldn't help. PSE 6 had different serial numbers for downloads and boxed versions that were mutually incompatible, and back then you couldn't just enter a serial number into the trial. That's probably why adobe doesn't have a download available for PSe 6.
