*** Upgrading FC Studio problem

Yesterday I had my logic board replaced on my PowerMac G5 and I'm now having trouble with FC Studio. When the technician left, I tried to open FCP and it asked me for my SN information...initially for FC Studio and then for DVDSP 3 and Motion 1. I have the SN for the FC Studio upgrade and entered it, but then when they gave me the next screen and asked for SNs for DVDSP 3 and Motion I couldn't enter them because I don't have them anymore. I only had the sticker for the main SN.
My question is, I don't want to get an upgrade with less than a month until a likely FCP 6 release and I don't "need" to upgrade DVDSP or Motion until then. Is there any way I can by pass the 2nd screen so that I can just get to FCP to start editing? I'm at a loss as to what to do here. Should I delete all the FC Studio programs and install them again? I reemmber only have to enter the initial SN when I did this originally.

I've solved my SN number problem with the help of Apple technicians, but now I can't open any pre-existing projects in FCP. When I double-click or choose file > open on any of my projects, I get an error message that says "General Error (41)". Can anyone tell me what this means?

Upgrading to Studio 8

Hi,
I have a Web site that uses a dreamweaver template. In this
template, I've inserted 10 swf files. These files were created with
Studio MX and the swfs don't play correctly in IE 7 beta (they show
up with that grey border and I have to click them before they
work). 8 of these swf files are buttons that contain a movie that
is supposed to animate on mouseover. There is also a top button
that is supposed to animate on mouseover.
Here's my question: The Javascript code, provided as a fix,
is too difficult for me to use (I'm not a programmer) and I'm
wondering if upgrading to Studio 8 will allow me to update my site
so that I don't have to deal with the javascript? I want to just be
able to insert flash button swf and other swf and have them show up
in IE 7 beta without hassle.

I think, unfortunately, the answer to your question is "No,
upgrading will not help." The problem isn't with Flash, the problem
is with Microsoft and Active Content in general.

Issues after upgrading design studio 1.3

Hi Experts,
We have upgraded design studio version from 1.2 to 1.3. Before upgradation our application was working fine and we didnt get any error. After upgradation, during runtime we are getting 2 errors and a warning. We are getting the following errors while clicking “Sales chart tab” and we couldnt find the cause of the errors.
During runtime, we are getting the below warning message for a text box. We are displaying aggregated value of a keyfigure (undelivered quantity) in a text box using onload function in application properties and the scripts are as below.

I was facing the same issue and was able to fix with the following steps.
- Login into Web tier box as The Administrator or same user which was
used to install BIP Web tier
- Stop TomcatRun Repair of the Design Studio install (BIP AddOn)
- After install stop tomcat if it started, go to tomcat/work directory
and delete everythign there
- Run wdeploy tomcat7 deployallStart Tomcat and wait 10 minutes

Upgrading from Studio 1 to Studio 2

I'm about to upgrade from Studio 1 to 2 and wanted to know if there is anything I need to uninstall/delete before I do so. Basically, I know I can put in the discs as prompted, but am I duplicating a whole mess of files that I don't need to, or is it updating what it needs to and not creating tons of duplicate files. Also, what about the STP loops, LiveType files, etc. Am I going to have to delete the ones that came with FCP Studio 1 after the install?
Any advice would be great....

It appeared to add the new stuff, but I didn't do an exhaustive check since I don't use Soundtrack much. I've got lots of folders of "apple loops for sound tracks" but only unique ones in the library folders. I moved a bunch of stuff around some time ago (Final Cut Express, Garage Band, etc.)
The LiveType folders appear to be unique.
So, I'm surmising that I didn't get duplicates or old stuff eliminated, but just new stuff added / updated (there are some full 5.1 sound files).
I have tons of space on my system drive (500GB drive), so I tend to be a pack rat unless I get confusing lists of sounds, effects, etc. with duplicates. Then I clean up.

No upgrade to Studio now?

I've been running Final Cut Production Bundle version 4.5 for some time now and have been thinking about upgrading to Studio 5. However I have noticed that the upgrade does not seem to be available on the Apple ONLINE STORE here in the UK anymore.
I presume that this is because the new Universal version will be out soon but my question is...
Does anybody have an idea on if there is likely to be a direct upgrade path to the new version from the Production Bundle or should I upgrade to Studio 5 now whilst I still have the chance via stock held at my local Apple reseller?
Having only had a Mac for a few months I don't know what has been the norm in the past concerning skipping versions during upgrades.

License Transfer - Upgrade to Studio 2 ?

I bought a used copy of Final Cut Studio. You are allowed a one time license transfer when selling. My question is, can i upgrade to Studio 2 ? I believe i should be able to do it instead of buying a complete version. Can someone give me a definitive answer ?

It is my understanding that academic versions are NOT upgradeable.
A clean install is always the best way to go with FCP/FCS.

Upgrading to CS3 problem

Hi, I just purchased the upgrade version of flash CS3. I own
flash mx and I have it installed on my computer, but when I try to
install CS3 it doesn't recognize mx. I have also tried putting in
the serial number in and it doesn't work either. If anyone knows

guessing by $200 you quote, it sounds as if you just bought
the DW upgrade, which I was told by customer service Would not be
upgraded from studio MX, 2004 or 8, you are only able to upgrade DW
from a stand alone version of DW, not even if you have DW as part
of a studio.
With a copy of Studio MX - 8, you can only upgrade to a
suite, not a solitory application....there's some red text to the
left of the uprade options on the store page which says "Please
check upgrade eligibility before making your selection." but trying
to find out eligibility is not straightforward, so it took me
calling on the phone to find this out....then me saying,
"eh????....but I have DW8??!!!"" and them replying "Ah yeas, but
yours is part of a Studio, so you can only upgrade to a creative
suite.

Howdy Biswajit,
The IMAQ and Vision ActiveX controls you are using with Visual Basic 6 do not install with Measurement Studio. They are installed when you install the IMAQ software and include support for Visual Studio 6. Upgrading to Measurement Studio 8.0.1 will have no effect on your IMAQ controls since they are not related to one another. Purchasing Measurement Studio Professional or Enterprise packages allows you Visual Studio 6 support for other ActiveX components. Refer to this link for a list of ActiveX components included in those packages.
If you are asking about using the ActiveX controls in .NET, then take a look at this KnowledgeBase entitled Do NI-IMAQ and NI Vision Support Microsoft Visual Studio .NET?

After I deleted "Smart Crash Reports.bundle" in /Library/InputManagers/, I rebooted, went to AS Studio to see if there were any problems, and guess what ?
The Debugger started working. It's been broken as long as I can remember. Every time I've wanted to learn how to work with AS Studio since it came out, the Debugger has never worked, and I always ended up moving on to something else.

I agree with the Daring Fireball article, and am annoyed that Unsanity patches the OS without asking for permission. I won't buy their products any more.
That bundle is something that certain third-party applications install which attempts to email crash reports for their apps back to their authors, rather than to Apple. I don't know what app you might have installed that included this but it would probably be safe to remove the bundle. (Double clicking on it wouldn't do anything; it's not intended to be double clicked; it just sits there and waits to be loaded.)
After I wrote the original message I realized that it wasn't double clickable, but by then it was too late. I think it was probably Unsanity's APE, or FruitMenu.If you look at /Library/InputManagers/ there's an "info" file, and a "Smart Crash Reports.bundle". I just deleted both of them, if it causes a problem I'll copy them from another machine that doesn't have it. I'm not sure but I believe they patch the original one from Apple. I'm not sure if that is correct?

Logic Studio is not available anymore, so unless you can find an "old stock" copy somewhere, you will never be able to upgrade in the future.
Logic Pro 9 has all the content from the Studio box available for download, with the exception of the 20G of Soundtrack Pro content. Soundtrack Pro is no longer available at all.
Logic Studio also contained several other applications: Mainstage, Compressor (available separately from the AppStore), Waveburner (no longer available), plus some other utilities.

Problem Upgrading Logic Studio to 9.1.1 From 9.0.2

I was on Snow Leopard with Logic Pro with version 9.0.2. I upgraded to Lion (big regrets but that's whole different story) bottom line is that version 9.0.2 no longer runs. I get a pop-up window that says "You Can't Use this Version...". Not a big one, so I go ahead and download the latest Logic Pro 9.1.1 and try to install. But It won't install. It says "Your Computer Does Not Need This Upgrade". I don't know what to do next. Is there a resource file that I need to trash or what would you suggest?

Got it. Found similar postings with the solution. I'll re-stated it just to save anyone running into this post a bit of search time.
1. Go to the Application folder. Find the Logic Pro application and edit the application name. Get rid of the numbers and spaces if any. Just leave it as Logic Pro.
2. Re-attempt to install 9.1.1 this time it worked for me -well, sort of. It turns out that 9.1.1 is also no compatible with Lion.
3. Launch the Software Update application and updgrade to the latest version. For me it was 9.1.5.
All seems well.

Installing Soundtrack 3 / Logic Studio Problems.

I just upgraded Logic, from 9 to Studio. When I installed the package, Compressor was 'greyed' out. Soundtrack Pro 3 won't work without it, so I bought Compressor from the App store. Now I have Compressor installed but Soundtrack 3 still doesn't work. Re-installed but no success. Any suggestions and solutions would be most appreciated as I REALLY need Soundtrack Pro 3 for the project I am working on. Thanks!

You need to contact Apple support and explain the situation accurately and carefully. That's what I did and they reimbursed me for the Compressor I purchased and walked me through the solution. It was a while back now; I think there was a version of Compressor I downloaded for fress based on their suggestions... Anyway,everything works fine and although Apple DOE NOT like to give refunds if you are clear about the issue they will know exactly what the problem is and will help out.

i just upgrading my logic studio 8 full version to logic studio 9, and i face the followings:
1) logic pro, main stage & Log Node have both versions 8 & 9 .. is it normal ??? (i thought upgrading will remove the old versions)
2) whenever i open any logic studio applications, registration information dialog appears i fill it every time and register it every time !!! how can i kill this issue !!!
3) sound track pro not upgraded, i search here for a reason most of the answers say that i should not have a final cut pro and i am not having any pro applications except logic ...

finally, i run applications on iMac 24" 2009 with 4GB Ram ,,, 10.6.5 snow leopard updated for all applications.

i CAN confirm similar issues on my new Mac Pro 8 core.
Soundtrack Pro & Compressor won't install properly.
I don't have FCP or Express on my system at all.
I've tried the Terminal work around. doesn't work here, and Terminal won't authenticate.
This is ALL from a clean install after zeroing out the original boot drive WITH iLife'11 on it.
no biggy here, as i've got older working versions on my G5 system.
i had no trouble registering my upgrade from LP8 and i've still my LP7 dongle inserted as well. (on the G5.)

Is it safe to upgrade to Studio 2?...post studio wants to know

I've got 2 machines that are constantly used, so I can't wait inbetween jobs..there's no inbetween. so i'm wondering is it safe to convert over to Studio 2 yet?
I do HD and SD work and transcode all HDV to DVCpro HD and would like to start using the Prores. but i'm concerned that there are many issues still looming..haven't had enough time to seek all the listings of remaining issues.
I've read that there is some issues with QuickTime 7.2 and Studio 2 is that resolved too?
lastly, what i do is get a new HD install osx fresh, update, install QT, Software update, then install FCP 2. then install all my other support programs, CS2, AE etc... is this still a good process?

We installed our FCS2 right over our existing FCS1. Took about two hours to run all of the disks, make some tests and get back to work.
I do not recommend the scorched earth total reinitialization except in certain circumstances; yours is not one of them. A simple upgrade should do the trick for you.
However, you would supremely irresponsible not to make a clone of your system drives before you do this upgrade and, just to be safe, I'd disconnect all external drives during the operation.
The issues you are trying to research cannot be answered in blanket statements. Some people have had terrible experiences with QT7.2; we have not. Some folks had problems with the last pro apps update; we did not. Some folks found that STP2 was more or less crippled after the upgrade; our copies are fine.
