Upgrading from 5.0.13 to 7.6 - help!

I haven't upgraded iTunes for years because my last attmept was a disaster and lost a lot of files. Am ready, finally, to have another go but am concerned that the generation gap between the versions might be too big - they may not be able to relate to each other, etc Obviously I'm no techie, so any guidance on what I should look out for or do to make the upgrade go smoothly will be much appreciated. Please help!

As with most Essbase upgrades it can be as simple as installing over the old version with the new (subject to testing of course). As there are some major changes/feature differences between version 5 and 6 it is a bit more complicated. Firstly you will have to investigate the IO settings (I can't remember exactly but I think that 6.1.5 defaults to using direct IO instead of buffered) as these may differ from version 5. Mavericks upgrade from Snow Leopard broke boot camp. Help!

Since Apple made the newest version of OS X free, I decided to upgrade my 2010 MacBookPro from Snow Leopard. The installation seemed to go fine, but after the installation, I can't boot into my Bootcamp / Windows partition. From what I have read so far, others have experienced this issue upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion because the recovery partition apparently messes up something fragile between the MBR (Master Boot Record) and the GPT (GUID Partition Table). I'm not sure if that's what's going wrong here or not.
When I attempt to repair /dev/disk0s4 via the GUI Disk Utility, I get the following details:
Verify and Repair volume “disk0s4”
Checking file system** /dev/disk0s4
Invalid BS_jmpBoot in boot block: 6e0020
Volume repair complete.Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.
Error: Disk Utility can’t repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files.

Well, I can't mount the partition to copy off my files, and I just want to be able to go back to using my windows partition normally. So I started Googling and found several different threads, but so far I'm a few hours into trying to get my system back, without a clue as to what the right fix is.
Upgrading the OS on one partition of a HDD shouldn't completely break another partition. Is my case just a freak accident, or is this a serious flaw in the upgrade process? Sifting through 250GB of data (1/2 my laptop drive) is going to take some of these tools a while... I'm not a happy customer today.
Aside from spending upwards of 12 hours reinstalling Windows and the dozens of other applications and data files from backups and recovering all the files that I can, does anyone know of any tools that can recover the lost partition should I find it? I'm going to leave testdisk running over the disk while I sleep to try and find filesystems.

I had Windows 7 64-bit installed, but the version is irrelevant. The problem here is that *something* Apple's installer did damaged my working computer. The fact that it damaged others as well and apparently hasn't been fixed since the release of Mountain Lion is very disappointing. Boot camp is a supported Apple product, and we pay a premium for Apple's computers so we should expect better than for an upgrade to blithely destroy our data and tools leaving us to spend days restoring. That's no upgrade. It's a minefield. I'm happy if some good comes from my sharing and it helps others make better decisions than to trust the installer not to screw up their week. Make sure you back up your whole disk image before installing. The upgrade is only free if your time is worthless.
I'm still looking for an easy fix to this problem. The disk scanning software I'm running now is taking a long time to search through the 500GB HDD for information. I fear that the addition of the recovery partition wiped out my NTFS partition's file system entirely. It's inevitable that I haven't backed up all my stuff and that I have lost some amount of data in addition to my time.

Upgrade from Broadband option 1 to option 2 - Help...

I'm confused!
Today I upgraded from option 1 to 2, and shortly after received a welcome email with my new username/email address! I don't want to change these, all I want to do is increase my monthly allowance from 10gb to 40gb! The email also says that my password has not changed, however when I use the new username and my existing password the login fails. My old/existing email and password still works as usual, so where does this new username come into it? I do not want to end up losing my existing email address and associated sub accounts. Please could I have some clarification from a mod!

Logic Pro Upgrade from Logic Express 8 + Lion. Please help

I have bought a new mac with lion operating system after my previous mac was damaged beyond repair, however i am running a logic pro 9 upgrade from logic express 8. I have been told that logic 8 doesnt work on lion, but i need to install it before i can install my upgrade to logic 9. Can someone help??

I believe you just need the serial and not necassirly the installation of 8 on your system.

i had the same problem but i just got a new video converter and made it convert videos to ipod/iphone format and then put them into itunes. i would suggest GOM encoder as the encoder can convert them and then once they're finished converting, put them automatically into your itunes for you. from there you can just sync them to your ipod.

Just now we have completed upgrade project from 4.6c to ECC6.0.
After upgrade F4 help is not working for some date fields.
For example its working in MB11,Its not working in va01,vf01 like that.
In abap side we checked ...not able to find any issues in coding level, because its a standard SAP code.
So if any solution is there to correct this issue.Kindly help me to resolve this asap.

Upgrading from PSE5 to PSE9 and Organizing Photos - Help Pls.

Hi everyone,
I've finally got an upgrade to Photoshop Elements - I'm currently using 5.0 and I was given version 9.0 for Christmas... so excited!
I wanted to see if anyone has any advice for upgrading - in some ways, I want to start over from scratch and re-import all of my photos to the organizer. Some photos are duplicated, and some are not showing up at all even though I know they're on the HD and also in the organizer files, but they don't show up in the actual photo thumbnails - very confusing.
I also don't like the chaos I used for tags when I first started taking and editing photos - so I'd like to restart that as well.
Has anyone else recently upgraded Photoshop Elements? Can you start clean, or does it import all of the tags and issues from the previous version you used?
Also - does anyone have any advice for how to actually organize the photos? I keep them on my HD, but I don't know if the volume of photos can or will cause problems. I also back up to an external HD for safekeeping. Any advice on how to store and organize photos would be very much appreciated.

Hi Julie
When you upgrade to PSE9 the program will automatically offer you the choice of upgrading an earlier catalog.
Simply reject this and you can then start over and import photos and tag them as you like.

Upgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.6 help needed

Hello:
I have a Macbook running OS X v. 10.5.8. Wanted to upgrade to 10.6 so that I could eventually upgrade to Maverick, however I get an error that says "MAX OS X 10.6 can't be installed on this computer".
The computer meets the minimum requirements as stated in the installation instructions.
1 gb ram
5 gb harddisc space
Intel processor
Not sure why this error appears. I purchased the disc from ebay and it is gray. I have noticed others have a similiar issue even with the ones they purchase directly from Apple.
Is there a solution to this issue?

Upgrade from iPhoto 9 to 11 failed, need help

Contrary to my untimely discovery of the  advisory to
not Force Quit if & when the process stalled, I did. Now I'm
advised to upgrade 9, (now gone) to 9.1 before proceeding.
Should I reinstall 9 from the DVD? Will it even install alongside
11 or should I delete 11? Fortunately I have a recent backup of
the iPhoto Library on a separate disk. Please advise the steps

I only upgraded R/3 systems till now but in Q1 2007 we are going to upgrade our BW 3.1C too; I recommend to test several times the process on a copied system to fix in advance all problems that may arise (see SAP notes or forums for that).

Recent software upgrade from MF1 to ML1, internet freezing. Help please.

I recently did the latest upgrade to my phone, Samsung Galaxy S3, and everything is fine. However 90% of the time I am using the internet or google app, the pages freeze. I never got an error message ever before, but now I get a pop up message that says web page has become unresponsive, with an option to either WAIT or CLOSE PAGE. Is there anything I can do to get this to stop? Or should I download another internet app to use? I feel like it would just end up the same.

Hi I have version 5 of FCP and need to upgrade it to ver 5.1 to open some projects does anyone know where I can find an update for this?

FCP 5.1 was part of the upgrade to the Universal Binary version of Final Cut Studio and had to be paid for. It is no longer sold by Apple.
The current version is FCP 6.0.5, part of Final Cut Studio 2.

Ok, PowerBook G4's came with 10.3, and the maximum OS it can handle is 10.5.8
There is no security updates for PowerPC on 10.5 since July 2011, (but there was for 10.5.8 on Intel processors just a few days ago.)
So your course of action is to buy a 10.5 Leopard retail disk at Amazon or elsewhere.
Backup data off the machine, hold the c key down and boot, erase and install should do the best for performance, also your skipping 10.4, then Software Update fully.
Won't be secure for anything online, so don't use it for that. You should still be able to find some PowerPC based software if you look hard enough as there is still 16.5% of users on 10.5 and 40% on 10.6 (Intel processors only) which can run PowerPC based software via emulation.
I can't tell you what the performance would be on your machine, but if you don't like it I guess your could reinstall 10.3 again, don't know if you will get any security updates or not.
They don't make laptops like yours anymore, the new Mac laptops last about 4-5 years and they crap out. Got the weakest keyboards too.

you’ll need to purchase the white retail Snow Leopard DVD, install it, and run Software Update to get it to 10.6.8. Once there, you can upgrade to Mavericks if your MacBook Pro meets its other requirements.
