Upgrading from Endeca IAP 2.1.0 to Tools and Frameworks 3.1.1

Hi,
We are using Merchndizing workbench 2.1.0 and planning to migrate to Tools & frameworks 3.1.1
Tools and Frameworks migration document is saying that it is not supporting the migration.
Did anybody tried this migration?

Hi Kishore,
I have done a couple of upgrades, first I suggest you upgrade to 3.1.2 instead of 3.1.1. 3.1.2 fixes a few issues, didn't impact APIs (thus any coding efforts underway), and also includes sample migration scripts for Page Builder/Experience Manager. 3.1.1 did not have those.
These scripts are samples only as every deployment can be so different and with varying complexity. Thus this is your starting point. You mention IAP - that probably means you don't have Experience Manager and only Rule Manager so this won't be as interesting to you.
Next, both 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 include out-of-the-box migration scripts for Rule Manager rules, thesaurus, and keyword redirects. This script has worked well in my opinion. There are a few gotchas that you will encounter - the cartridge templates it creates are not always clean or model the rules the way you would like.
Yes, they don't explicitly support the 2.1.0 to 3.1.1 migration, so you need to upgrade to 2.1.2 first. This is trivial and I would just include this step as part of your overall migration plan. Most likely you will be upgrading Platform Services at the same time and you have to upgrade MDEX (you are probably running 6.2.2 or lower). Upgrading MDEX alone gave us 10% faster query responses when running in backwards compat mode - so we upgraded both of those components almost immediately and then worked on the Workbench migration.
There are lots of details to work through for this migration - even if you are not using rule manager or page builder/experience manager.

It just does't sync. I connect it to itunes, but nothing happens. Where it says how much space I have, it's just on ebig bar that says other. I can play my music on itunes, but not when i unplug it.
All of my photos were gone, i took and saved them with my ipod.

If you have an external drive with an OS X Time Machine backup, then do restore of your last backup. If you have an external drive with a bootable clone of your previous system, you can boot to that clone and re-clone the OS X on your external drive back to your Mac's internal drive.
If you do not have either of these available, then the reverting/restoring process becomes much more complicated and involves purchasing an external drive and backing up your current system to that drive, then erasing, reformatting your hard drive and now your only options to installng an OS X version is doing a clean install of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, then upgrading, again, to either OS X 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. OS X 10.9 Mavericks is no longer available for download and Apple has not made OS X 10.9 Mavericks available in any other form to be able to redownload and install.
Maybe it would be better to explain in detail your issues with Yosemite to see if any of us here can help you with your difficulties.

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Test after each one. Back up all data before making any changes.

To confirm, al songs are already in your iTunes library of current computer, and they all play using iTunes (on the computer)?
And you are saying all the songs you purchased from the iTunes Store can be synced to the nano without any problems? But NONE of the other songs (that are NOT from the iTunes Store) can be synced to the nano, or SOME of them?

You should backup before installing any new system updates or upgrades. Depending upon what your machine is qualified for you could upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.

TS2518 I started the upgrade from 3.2.4 to 3.3 yesterday and it stuck at Step & 97% complete

I started the upgrade from 3.2.4 to 3.3 yesterday and it stuck at Step & 97% complete overnight (~14 hours). Its a 71 GB library. I have no confidence there is anything actually happening. I've forced quit Aperature and used disk utility to repair links. Still seems to be stuck. Any ideas?

I have tried several times. Repair gets to 100% and stays that way.
I have Force Quit several times, rebooted mac, repaired permissions, reset PRAM. Each time I have to start Repair and at 100% it gets stuck. I let it sit for 5 Hours just to see if something was working in background. Now I have no library or photos (yes I know, the photos are there. I'll I have to do is start all over again. That shouldn't be hard with 150+GB of photos and the loss of all their settings, gps location, crops, color correction, etc).
Any other suggestions. Apple support won't help, unless I pay them for an update that broke my work.

the frustration is that Apple decide to go from Mobile me to Icloud, forcing clients to have an upgrade from 10.6 to 10.7, i do this on my iMAc but the agenda and contacts don't get synchronised within Icloud. It only works on iphone and ipad but my IMAC doesn't synchronise although i now have to correct software.
I also needed to upgrade my mac book pro but by that time mountain lion was launched, i can now no longer find in App store how to upgrade 10.6 to 10.7 since Apple wants to promote Mountain lion. I then decided to upgrade my MAcbook pro to Mountain Lion but ididn't go through, process was each time interupted.
So searching the internet i found a link to upgrtade to 10.7 and after 40 min of downloading the system said that i requiered 10.7 in order to be able to install 10.7.

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.

The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.

Upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8 and lost mail in several Smart Mailboxes

I upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8. Several of my Smart Mail Boxes lost all email content but others remained in tact. Now the ones that lost content don't accept emails that meet the criteria for the Smart Box.
Anyone have that experience? Any ideas on recapturing? I didn't back up my mail prior to upgrade.

Smart Mailboxes are only virtual mailboxes, and contain nothing -- they are the product of a search list, and messages must stay in their original mailboxes. All the messages will still in the originating mailboxes, unless something else you did impacted those actual mailboxes, so you should be able to rewrite the definitions for these Smart Mailboxes.

Our client has decided to upgrade their user's OS from Windows XP to Windows 7. Also the IE will be upgraded to IE8.
We did an impact analysis with a single system for the BW front end. Except a few minor errors, nothing serious troubled the SAP in Windows 7 OS.
SAP has confirmed that for the official support for Windows 7 and IE 8 will require minimum SPS of 21. Thus we are planning for SPS upgrade from 18 to 21.
I am still waiting for the Side Effect Report, I would like to check with you if anyone has encountered any error after Windows 7 upgrade?
Will BEx work even if the OS is Windows 7 and Office is low version such as 2000, 2003.
Any impact on portal 700?
Appreciate any kinds of input from you All
