Upgrading from Indesign 2.0

I am trying to purchase indesign cs5.5. The options on the dropdown menu in the "I own version" include Pagemaker 6 and 6 and Indesign CS2, CS3, CS4, etc. I currently own indesign 2.0. There is no option for that. Seems like the obvoius choice would be to say CS2 but I don't want to be wrong.HELP please really want to upgrade.

As Bob mentioned, your only option is to purchase the full version.

    Running OS 10.6.8 on a 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 Mac can I upgrade from Indesign CS5 to CS6?

    They do, but what happens when the client(s) move to CC? Of course doing
    so opens a new can of worms for you since 10.6.8 is unsupported for
    anything later than CS6.
    You should start budgeting for some upgrades sooner rather than later.

  • Upgrading from InDesign CS4 to CS5.5

    How much would it cost to upgrade from InDesign CS4 to CS5.5

    There is no longer any official upgrade for any version of InDesign. The only offerings from Adobe now are Creative Cloud subscriptions (which currently provide access to both CC and CS6 versions), or purchasing a perpetual license for CS6, at full price, with the understanding that CS6 is considered "feature complete" and will not receive any further updates and may not work on the next OS releases or new generations of hardware.

  • Upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server

    Hi,
    I have been looking on adobe site to check if I can have an upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server. I have Indesign CS3 license but need to migrate to Indesign CS5 server. Does anybody know whether it is possible to buy upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server. Or will I have to buy new license for Indesign CS5 server. Any help on this is appriciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I have been using Indesign CS3 for generating automated reports. These reports are large in numbers. Limitation with Indesign CS3 is it only allows single instance of the application. And hence I am forced to generate these reports in sequence using multiple servers. Indesign CS5 server on the other hand seems to allow multiple instances running at the same time. This would mean I can generate multiple reports at the same time. This will reduce time to generate these reports and also limit the number of servers. This is the reason I want to migrate from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server. However, I am not sure if I can get direct upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server or I have to buy new license for Indesign CS5 server. Do you have any idea on this, please suggest. Thanks in advance for your response.
    Regards,
    Chaitan.

  • Installing CS4 Design Standard as an upgrade from InDesign

    Installing CS4 Design Standard as an upgrade from InDesign CS on Mavericks OS but serial numbers not valid.  Is there a keystroke to override this hangup?

    Thanks kglad,  I have attempted all of your suggestions with no success.  This is a specific unique issue requiring a special set of keyboard commands to unlock or override my s/n.  The product is an upgrade from an old InDesign CS.  The InDesign CS is not on the harddrive, I cannot install the InDesign CS again after Mavericks upgrade.  The CS4 install routine does not present an opportunity to enter the InDesign CS s/n when I attempt a trial install and launch. The initial install required a call to Adobe support and special keystrokes were provided from support to "open" the software.  Please help.  Adobe support via CHAT are not able to access this information.

  • Upgrading from InDesign 2.0.2

    It's been so long since I've used InDesign (obviously) and now that I need it and am running Leopard, I need to upgrade. My question is can I upgrade all the way to CS4? Will that single upgrade work? Another issue...since I can't open my current version, I can't get to my serial number (unless there's another way to find it, I can't even find original install disc it's been so long), will that affect the upgrade? I really can't afford to buy new, so if someone has a suggestion? Thanks.

    Though Bob highly disagrees with me on this, I suggest upgrading to InDesignCS or CS2 by purchasing a used one on eBay.
    I had no need for ID at home until clients demanded it. So I got a CS Premium upgrade from Photoshop on eBay for $60. Just last week I got a CS2 Premium upgrade, again clients demands made me get the product.
    You have to do your due diligence like asking has it been registered and if so, will the seller transfer it to you. Many times they are just offloading the item because they upgraded higher. This is illegal and must be guarded against. If I do not get an straigt answer to those questions I move on to someone who will. You must use PayPal for buyer protection in order to weed out the illegitimate sellers. This also protects you from false advertising of the software package itself and it's registerability. Since using the above I have not had any problems with buying used programs on eBay. This will get you on the upgrade path to CS4 and soften the blow to your budget.
    Adobe is very supportive of this as it gets the product used and a new paying upgrader.

  • Upgrade from InDesign Mac to InDesign CS4 Windows, Is this possible?

    Hi all, I have Indesign CS2 Mac, now I am switching to Windows platform and i want to upgrade to Indesign CS4 Window. Is this possible from my copy and  serial number of InDesign CS2 Mac.

    You had better hurry, as when CS5 comes out (sometime in April or early May) there is a very short grace period to do this. I found out the hard way and was too late and had no other choice than to pay to get CS4.
    It's not certain when InDesign CS5 might be released, until Adobe makes a formal announcement. You might want to discuss with an Adobe customer service SUPERVISOR whether you can make the cross-grade after CS5 is formally announced (not released, just announced), and also ask the SUPERVISOR whether your purchase of the cross-grade after the announcement will qualify for a free upgrade to CS5.
    Sometimes policies change, but, I believe that there's a period after announcement of a new release, before it's shipping, that by purchasing the outgoing release, you get a free upgrade to the announced release. I think there's a charge for a boxed product, but not for the downloaded product.
    I'm suggesting SUPERVISOR, because information of this kind often isn't made completely clear to regular customer-support folks. If a supervisor can't give you certain info, ask for the supervisor's MANAGER. Get the name of the person who gives you the info, so you have someone to work with if a problem arises.
    Buying an expiring product in the brief period between announcement of the next release and its actual shipping date, usually results in such a free upgrade. It's important for you to get accurate information about whether upgrading a product in this period works the same way..

  • How can I upgrade from InDesign CS 3.0.1?

    I currently have InDesign CS 3.0.1 and I am wanting to upgrade to a newer version. We are going to be adding InDesing on to another computer and I want to make sure that transferring documents from one of the computers to the other won't be a problem. Is the newest version of InDesign compatible with CS 3.0.1?

    Your options are pretty limited. You can pay full price for a perpetual license for CS6 (and you'll need a license for each seat), or you can purchase subcriptions to Creative Cloud. The first-year discount offer for users of CS3 and later has been extended, but I don't think there is anything for user of CS (version 3.x).
    In theory you can open the old files in either of the new versions (though I wouldn't -- export to .inx in CS and open that instead), but there is no way to go backward without having CS2, CS3 and CS4 as well, and you files may not be very usable after that many conversions. I'd suggest keeping CS alive as long as possible (even if it means keeping an old machine around to run it) just in case you need it, and I'd probably only convert files that will have an ongoing life.
    Keep in mind that a version upgrade may also require a hardware and OS upgrade.

  • Upgrade from InDesign CS to CS3

    Hi,
    I have InDesign CS in my Mac mini and just ordered the upgrade to CS3. I talked to the guy and he said the upgrade would work with the CS I already have. When the installation is complete it says that the serial number I've entered is for an upgrade product and that I should enter my serial for my CS. I enter it and get a red cross and it doesn't work. I need this for my work and it doesn't work, can anybody help me PLEASE!!??
    Thanks in advance.

    CS is InDesign, or the Creative Suite?
    Same question for CS3...
    The two need to match...

  • Upgrade from InDesign CS 5.5 to the Latest Version

    Hello all,
    I purchased InDesign CS 5.5, the Middle Eastern version, and was thinking of upgrading to the latest one.  Do I have to subscribe to the cloud service to be able to do that?  I ask because I don't need any other Adobe product, not a single one.
    And I heard now that there are not any Middles Eastern/non Middle Eastern versions now, they are all one and that all the functionality of the previously separate Middle Eastern versions can be found on the new InDesign versions?
    Thank you.

    You can subscribe to just InDesign CC, or the whole Cloud. There are separate ME versions, still, but if you are a Cloud subscriber then the version you download is dependent upon the language you select in the Creative Cloud app manager preferences. You get access to both versions as a subscriber.
    I suspect you could buy a desktop retail license of InDesign CS6 ME if you wanted to do so.

  • Upgrade from Indesign CS3 to CS5...

    I'm wondering if there are any 'problems' with CS5 that I should be wary of...
    What about big pluses?...any advice?
    I'm on OS 10.6.8, maybe one day 10.7 but not for the immediate future...my main computer these days is a three year old macbook pro with 4gb of ram if that matters...
    the main reason to upgrade, adobe's new upgrade policy...would do this before the end of the year to save the 20 percent...if it weren't for this I wouldn't upgrade, CS3 has been fine for me so far...
    I've got similar questions I'm gonna ask on the illustrator forum...have CS3 and wonder if CS5 is a worthwhile upgrade, but i use this program so infrequently I'll probably let it pass...
    thanks for any help

    You might find a reseller someplace who still has CS5 upgrade disks, but it's not very likely. For print workflows, there's not a lot of difference between CS5 and CS5.5, but if you think you might be interested in any sort of ePub or online publishing, 5.5 is the better choice.
    As far as what would make it a good idea? I like the new selection behaviors, smart guides, Illustrator-style layers panel, Live Preflight (though that can casue some trouble for some users -- mostly on userpowered systems, I think), Grid in Step and Repeat, link info in the links panel, and that's just off the top of my head things that increased my productivity without really looking at new features like GREP styles and Line styles. I think Bob probably still has pages devoted to what's new for CS5 and 5.5, and maybe for CS4, at his site, http://theindesignguy.com/tips.shtml
    thanks for the link Peter...that is helpful...kinda like a concise list of reasons to upgrade, or not...

  • I have upgraded from InDesign CS4 to InDesign CS5.

    We have odd sized paper (9x17 inch) we print our newsletter on. What used to print just fine, now prints too far down and to the left. I thought it might be the printer setup but it also printed incorrectly on our Risograph (duplicater) Changing margins didn't help. Any suggestions. Am I in the right place to ask this question? Thanks.

    Probably you're opening CS4 documents in CS5? If so, the converted documents have no path for the save() method. The script can be reconfigured to supply one like so:
    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.NEVER_INTERACT;
    var myBook = app.open("C:\\forms\\0210.files\\zprint.indb", false),
        i, docPath, doc, j;
    for (i = 0;i<myBook.bookContents.length;i++){
        docPath = myBook.bookContents[i].fullName;
        doc = app.open(File(docPath),false);
        for (j = 0; j < doc.links.length; j++) {
            doc.links.item(j).relink(File(doc.links.item(j).filePath));
        doc.save(docPath);
        doc.close();
    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.INTERACT_WITH_ALL;
    You should be warned that this will overwrite your CS4 documents with CS5 documents.
    Or, if you want to keep your script more or less as it is, you could remove or comment out this line:
    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.NEVER_INTERACT;
    at the top and pick a save location for each file as it comes through in the UI.

  • Why am I having performance Issues with an upgrade from CS2 to CS5.5?

    I am struggling hard with an upgrade from InDesign CS2 to CS5.5 (part of CS5.5 Design Standard)
    There is a very slow response when trying to produce a 45 page document which needs many .jpeg images inserting, sometimes up to six on each 3-column page. While InDesign behaves sort of normally on text only pages, it slows to a virtual standstill when on the pages with images. (But this is what its for and I didn't have this problem with CS2!!)
    Having read through some of the postings on this topic I have followed all the advice without success :-(
    1) disable LSD in Preferences – Interface
    2) disable thumbnail display in Pages
    3) adjust view settings to Typical with Raster and Vector Images greyed out
    4) disable Save Preview Images with Documents
    5) check Links before opening documents
    7) switch Preflight off
    I shouldn't need to do all this should I???
    I am operating with the following:
    Packard Bell ixtreme M5740 64 bit
    Intel Core i5 CPU [email protected]
    4.0 GB RAM
    ATII Radeon HD5570 graphics card 2779 MB available memory, 1024MB dedicated
    plenty of free space – 274GB on c: drive and 296 GB on a D: drive
    My hardware conforms to/exceeds the Indesign recommended hardware spec. Oh yes I am working on my local drive and  I don't have these problems with Photoshop or Illustrator CS5.5.
    Has anyone an idea about what's going on?
    I've lost a good 6-8 hours so far trying to sort it out. Any help and observations will be gratefully received!

    Hi Peter
    Thanks - I've found that the files were marked as 'hidden' and thus by switching them on gain I was able to recreate the original location.  Regrettably this has had absolutely no effect on my problem. :-(
    I have now created a  fresh document, studiously linking all my images properly  (similar number to a DK 'Eyewitness Travel Guide') and by the time I got halfway through its 80 pages, InDesign had slowed to a crawl - ie 15-20 seconds to respond to any command.  It is clearly doing something that it thinks necessary despite all the 'workarounds' people have suggested. Please please Adobe what's going on???

  • Upgrading from ID CS6 to ID CC with templates

    Hi everyone,
    I am going to be upgrading from InDesign CS6 to InDesign CC soon.  I have a lot of templates that I use and was hoping there will be no issues with them once I make the upgrade.  Has anyone had any issues with their templates after going from CS6 to CC?  Thanks!

    There is no reason to uninstall CS5 unless you have no reason to keep it.  Below is a link to a page that shows the various subscription plans available.  There is one that is a special rate for Photoshop and Lightroom.  I do not think CS5 qualifies you for a further discount on that package, but there is a special rate for another package if you are a CS owner.

  • Mini Bridge Missing from InDesign CS6 after Upgrade to InDesign Version 8.1

    I discussed this same problem https://forums.adobe.com/message/5833991 after upgrading to the prior version 8.0.2 of InDesign.
    After upgrading to InDesign Version 8.1, Mini Bridge no longer works.  Mini Bridge does not show under the Window menu and shift-clicking the Bridge icon opens the full Bridge, not Mini Bridge.
    With the prior version 8.0.2 problem, I was able to recover Mini Bridge by doing a re-install of InDesign under Window's Safe Mode.  Microsoft has somehow changed Safe Mode and I can no longer do the reinstall using Safe Mode.  I have tried several different ways of reinstalling version 8.1, but none of them correct this problem.  Still no Mini Bridge.
    Mini Bridge does work in Photoshop CS6 with no problem.
    I have read through all of the messages that seem to relate to this problem in this forum, but none of the suggested solutions work for me.
    Can anyone provide me with an answer?  If not, how do I get help from Adobe?  I am willing to pay for support, if necessary.

    RESOLVED - I can't believe it, but I have actually figured this out.
    Getting frustrated with going in circles, I decided to dig into security options.  First off, I opened Windows' Properties for the start-up icon for InDesign.  Right off, I noticed under the Compatibility tab that InDesign was set to run in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3).  This did not seem right, so I turned off the option to run in Compatibility Mode and re-started up InDesign.  Low and behold, the option Window | Mini Bridge was now displayed!  And it worked!
    Sorry to have bothered you gentlemen with this problem.  I really appreciate your assistance!
