Upgrading from Logic Express 7.0 to 7.1 doesn't work

When I try to upgrade from Logic Express 7.0.1 to LE 7.1 I get an error message saying the installed version is a later version than the upgrade I'm trying to apply.
I have upgraded from OS X.3.6 to X.4.0 since installing LE 7.0.1.
Any clues about what's going on with this time-warp problem?

This is exactly the same problem I have had, despite down loading several times (just in case), and even using a different machine (again, just in case). Needless to say, the query I posted on the Apple Logic help site has not been responded to!
Fortunately, Logic Express still works but it would be nice to be running the latest (functioning) version

  • Upgrade from Logic Express to the new Mac App Store Logic Pro?

    Hey there,
So I recently bought Logic Express, thinking that sometime in the future I might want to upgrade to Logic Studio. Today Apple announced that Logic Pro is available in the Mac App Store for $200! Is there a way to upgrade from Logic Express to this version?

  • The synth pad sound Warm Pad has changed after upgrading from Logic Express 7 to Logic Studio

    Hello!
I have composed a lot of songs over the years using Logic Express 7, and my favourite synth pad sound there was a sound called Warm Pad (from the EXS24 Sampler).
A half a year ago I upgraded to Logic Studio, mainly because I needed WaveBurner. Happily, all my songs sounded exactly the same after the upgrade, except from 1 sound: The synth pad sound Warm Pad. It still got the same name and location, but the sound was replaced with a very sharp and much more distinct sound (not warm at all, in my ears at least).
I have tried to replace it with different synth pad sounds from the EXS24 Sampler, and the one I find to come most close to the old Warm Pad from Logic Express, is a synth pad sound called Pad 1. Still, I don’t think it sound exactly the same.
So, in order to finish all my songs and make an album, I ask you for help:
    1. Do you know how I can get EXACTLY the same sound as the old Warm Pad Logic Express, with my new Logic Studio?
    2. Have you experienced the same with sounds, after upgrading from one Logic version to a newer one? And what have you done to find back to the old sounds?
I will be VERY thankful for help, because I am not a genius in the mysterious (but yet exiting) world of synthesizer synthesis.

I have the boxed version of logic studio.
When you install, if you pick the "ad hoc" installation you can add the logic7 patches to your existing patches.
I think running installation again you should be able to install just that.

  • Is it worth upgrading from Logic Express 8?

Seems to do everything I need. I already own all the jam packs. What are the "must have" things that I will get for dropping $200? If it is worth it, I'll upgrade. Most of my recording is MIDI, some acoustic and electric guitars and vocals. I also would like to create sheet music.
    Thanks

Well, if you're serious about wanting to achieve something, then an upgrade to Logic 9 from Express 8 will definitely be a good thing.
I originally got into Logic using Express at version 7/8, but there really are a good set of features that have been introduced in 9 that are genuinely useful to most people.
Features are only 'must have' if you think you need them for a specific purpose - the improvements are pretty basic, but enable you to work better - bouncing in place, creating a new sampler instrument from an audio region, for example, are great ways of doing what I want in a pretty more efficient way than I used to.

  • Trying to upgrade from Logic Express 7 to 8 and it won't do it!

I've had a copy of Logic Express 7 for a couple of years now but it was a "Not For Resale" version.
Will that interfere with my upgrade to version 8?

What I probably should have said was that I have been running a "Not For Resale" version of Logic Express 7.1.1 for a while now. I tried to upgrade to the new Logic Express 8.0 but it won't allow because the serial number that came with the "NFS" version is apparently not valid.
Do I need to go back to the original "Big Box" install and use that serial number or should I just re-install everything from the "Big Box"?

  • Upgrade from Logic Express 9 to 9.01 - Upgrade wont recognize my software although it is in the application folder. Any ideas?

My Logic Express 9.0 is definetly in the Applications folder but the upgrade doesnt find it or says that it is ineligable. Any ideas?
    thanks,

    Hi
Make sure that your Logic Express app is a) in the Applications Folder (and not in another folder inside Applications), and b) that it is named "Logic Express" with no numbers or spaces after the name.

  • Upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, sound doesn't work, reinstalled driver, still not working

I have an HP Envy dv6, Product number: B6C68AV.
I had Windows 8 Pro 64-bit running on it just fine. Last month I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit and my sound doesn't work anymore. If I go through the "Find and fix audio playback problems" winzard in Windows most of the time it will fix the problem, but I have to do that every time I reboot or wake the laptop up from sleep. When the fix works, it says it made my sound device the default and that fixed the problem.
So then I think I just need to set my IDT device to be the default, but when I go to manage my sound devices it says there are no audio devices installed, so there's no way to set one of them as my default.
I downloaded the IDT Audio driver at

Here's what HP Assistant says I have installed in terms of audio drivers

  • Is there any easy way to upgrade from Logic Express?

I bought it last year because I couldn't afford the full version - then the full version was dropped to the same price and LE was discontinued. I'd love the security of having it attached to my Apple ID, and to upgrade now, but paying the same price again seems a bit much. Is there any way to upgrade?

You are not alone in your predicament since Apple broke up Logic Studio and discontinued LE.
If you want to make your next purchase via the App Store (which would be wise for future upgrades) I think you basically have two options:
    1) Even though it would seem like you're buying Logic again for the same price that you paid for LE, you would be getting a lot more in the way of instruments, plug-ins, and loops.  Sculpture, Space Designer, and all 6 Jam Packs for starters.  Not to mention that you would then be set up for updates and upgrades.  You may find this helpful in determining what you would be immediately gaining by buying Logic Pro 9:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4229
Even though the document shows Logic Studio, if you just eliminate Compressor, Mainstage, Soundtrack Pro, and Waveburner you can still clearly see what you'll be getting.  If all this makes you drool  you can get LP9 now or . . .
    2) You could wait a bit longer and buy Logic Pro X, whenever that is released.

  • Upgrade to Logic Express 7.2 from Logic Audio 5

Is it possible to use the LE7.2 upgrade to get from Logic Audio 5 (Big Box version)? The initial blurb on the Apple store suggests this is the case:
"Upgrade from Logic Express 6, Logic Audio 6 or Logic Audio 5 to Apple's new Logic Express 7"
The requirements include a free USB port for the XSKey, but the person at the Apple store didn't seem too sure either way.
    Any clarification most appreciated.

    Hi,
I upgraded from Logic Audio 5 to LE 7 last year, and I THINK it worked like this: the XSKey was required during installation as "proof" that I had an official Logic 5. After installation of LE7, the XSKey was no longer required.

  • Can i upgrade from Logic PRO 7 to Logic express 9 (upgrade version)?

    Hello
I was about to upgrade from Logic Pro 7 to Logic Studio 9 when i noticed that all the fetures i need are actually now in cheaper Logic Express 9.
So would it be possible to upgrade to Logic Express 9 from Logic Pro 7? or will it only upgrade from older versions of Logic Express?
    Many thanks
    Tom

    Hi,
guess that's not possible. But i strongly recommend upgrading your Logic Pro 7 to Logic Studio. It's not that much more money, but i bet once you have the new Express version, you'll desperately miss some of the features you only have with Logic Pro/Studio.
I would recommend to call apple support or ask a dealer to find the correct upgrade version.

  • How do I upgrade to Logic Pro from Logic Express?

When I decided to dump ProTools and go with Logic, it was easy because Express was pretty cheap and there was always an upgrade path to Logic Studio. Now it's version 9 and I don't see an option to upgrade to Logic Pro 9 from Logic Express 9. Can you guys help me out here?

Based on the replies in the Logic Express forums, it looks like I'll just have to suck it up until Logic 10 comes out.
I think I would feel totally hosed if it weren't for the fact that I recently got Komplete 8 Ultimate, so I don't really care for the Logic synths.

  • Logic express 7.2 upgrade to logic express 8

    Hi
I just recently - (infact yesterday), was bought a copy of logic express 7 for my little macbook by my loving girlfreind.
Anyway, i'm starting to learn how to use it - havn't got anywhere yet - but blow me if I find out that apple have just released logic express 8.
Is it possible that I can get this copy of logic express 7.2 upgraded to logic express 8 since it was just bought yesterday and I had no idea?

Well, you'd be taking your life in your hands… I wouldn't recommend it! It might not be much of a bargain, either, by the time the auction ends & you're facing postage, insurance, taxes, & other last-minute bidders. I think if you worked it out, it would be more cost-effective to purchase from a proper retail outlet. Software on eBay… never really thought that was a good idea…

  • Just a bit confused in regards to upgrading from Logic 5 - to Logic 7

    Hey all...
So I was an avid Logic 5 user on an iBook G3... (or I had the "big box' of plat/gold - see how confused I am/was/is...?? HELP!!)
SOmething happened and I had to wipe my hard drive on the iBook, and the new system I put on was OSX 10.3.9, and then when I re-installed Logic(x?) it just plain wouldn't run.... crashed all the time and sometimes never launch the app. When I bought it, I got it at Guitar Center and this was when emagic owned it. I have an XSKey and all the registration for it. So right when I thought I was getting somewhere, emagic sells it to Apple... blessing, but bittersweet, because I can't get anyone at Apple to help me out, other than saying I have to get the new one - and they will not run on my current computer.
SO HERE IT IS; I have finally decided to ditch the iBook G3 and trump up to the basic G5 Tower, load it with at least 2GB's of RAM - and then I figured I could just buy the; Logic Pro 7 Upgrade from Logic Pro 6 or Logic Plat/Gold 5, 6 for $299.00 (and from what I have been reading on here also get the Logic Pro 7.2 Crossgrade for $49.00...)
IS THIS WHAT I NEED...? Like I said before I have all the stuff from the Logic (emagic) and know its one of the above mentioned needed for the upgrade!...? And will this then bump me to Logic 7 Pro - Not Logic Express.....?? And is this a good thing or......
I apologize for being so confused - but I'm so willing to get back into Logic that I'm actually buying new hardware, just to get back into producing!!
The guys at the Apple store are helpful - but all look cross-eyed when I begin asking Logic (or any Pro application) questions.......
    Thanks in advance all!!
    *jeffrey

The Big Box was Logic Silver (not Gold or Plat). That's a steeper upgrade.
If what you bought was the 'Production Kit' that included an a/62m interface, then you have Gold.
If what you truly have is Gold 5, you will get Logic PRO 7 for the $299. I don't know if that now includes 7.2 or if that's still an extra $49 (being that they're going to charge Shake users who paid 3k on it $49 while they drop the price to $500, I'd expect 7.2 to still cost ya).
