Upgrading from Office for Mac 2011 Home & Student to Home & Business

I just switched from PC to Mac and bought my first Macbook Pro. I also bought, from Apple, Office for Mac 2011 Home & Student version without realizing that it didn't have outlook. I am going to upgrade to the Home & Business version to get outlook. Should I completely uninstall teh Home & Student version before upgrading?

Contact Microsoft it's their product.

  • With my Lion OS, if I upgrade to Office for Mac 2011, it will not work?

LIke the title says, with Lion OS, even if I upgrade to Office for Mac 2011, I will still be unable to use word docs. The reason it bothers me so much is that I need both my mac.com email and the ability to send Wrod docs to my publisher. I feel stumped.

even if I upgrade to Office for Mac 2011
That implies you haven't upgraded yet. Yes?
I will still be unable to use word docs.
Why would you presume that? You'll be able to open and create any Word documents.

  • Transferring Office for Mac 2011 (home & student)

Will this software upload onto my new Mac when I set it up & upload all the data via thunderbolt?

It should transfer along with the activation code embedded...if it does not you can use an ethernet wire to connect the two, then drag and drop the appropriate directories/folders to the new machine and that will convey the activation.
If in real doubt, you can always contact MS and explain you are transferring to a new machine and can you have a new activation code to make it work as you will no longer be using the old machine.  They are usually good about that sort of thing.

  • Installing Microsoft Office for Mac 2011

I have a Macbook Pro 5.3 Boot ROM Version MBP53.00AC.B03 with SMC Version 1.48f2. The computer will not read the software for installing Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 (Home and Student). An alert blocks installing of the Firmware 1.7 Update. Mac Support said the problem is the Microsoft software. Microsoft said the problem is the Macbook Pro. Does anyone know how to resolve the problem so the Office 2011 can be installed?

An alert blocks installing of the Firmware 1.7 Update
Firmware updates and Office 2011 are unrelated and have nothing to do with each other.
If the firmware won't install, then post your question in the OS X forums.

  • Reinstalling Microsoft Office for Mac 2011

I bought Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 Home and Student Family Pack (3 users / 3 macs).
If I perform a complete Clean install of Mac OS X snow leopard, then install microsoft office for mac afterwards, will this waste one of my licences. (So then there will only be one more installation left)?

no, it will not waste a license.  I have the same MS Office version on my mac.

Here is a very easy possible solution, worth trying before uninstalling Office. It worked for us so hopefully might work for you.
We installed Yosemite on a test machine to check for problems. Office 2011 for Mac ran and still does run fine on that machine with Yosemite.
As a result we installed Yosemite on our main machines. At the same time we updated Office for Mac 2011 using the latest update 14.4.7. It was at this point that Office started crashing every time a document was opened.
    Solution that worked for us.
1 Using Font Book (comes with your Mac) we removed all duplicate fonts. We selected the automatically remove option.
    2 Restart computer.
    3 Shut down computer.
4 Restart computer in 'safe boot' to do this:
    a) Shut down the computer.
    b) Press the power button.
    c) Immediately after hearing start-up tone, hold down SHIFT key.
    d) Release SHIFT key after Apple logo and progress indicator appears.
    e) Once computer has opened, restart the computer without holding down any keys.
5 Hopefully all should be ok now. Your machine might run a little slow for a while as it rebuilds caches etc but all ours were back at full speed after a few minutes.
    Best Wishes
    Bob

How do I sync from ical and address book to office for mac 2011 in outlook?  icloud is turned on, sync is turned on in outlook and in itunes.  Email working fine in outlook, but no contact or calendar information.  Microsoft said it is an Apple issue.  They said icloud is not compatible with Outlook.  I have OS Lion if you need to know that.

  • I was having problems with a 7-month old version of office for mac 2011, so I completely removed it from my computer. How do I reinstall it?

Office for Mac 2011 worked fine until yesterday, then I started having problems. I know I completely deleted the trial version, so please do not suggest that as the cause. I also know that I bought a legitimate full version online from the Microsoft store 7 months ago, and I still have the product key. But since I don't have any trace of Office on my Mac anymore, how do I reinstall it? I tried looking on the Microsoft website, but it wasn't helpful. The only other thing I can do is contact Microsoft customer support, which will probably take forever. So, to respond to this post, please: do not mention trial versions for Office, do not mention Microsoft website. I tried posting another question on this topic, but the people who replied did not seem to understand that their suggestions were not relevant.

I see you had another post for this same issue where you clearly explained your problem.  There were important details in your other thread that would have helped us in assisting you.  You started this new thread, understandably frustrated.  None of us are mind readers.  You started right off telling us not to mention the only two things that would resolve the problem you had mentioned here which was simply that you had uninstalled office and you were trying to reinstall it.  Reading your other thread, it's clear why you made that comment.  It's generally not a good idea to open multiple threads for the same issue as anyone reading this thread would have no idea what steps you have already taken and what suggestions have already been made.

all folders show up and open but not e-mail content!!

Can you import the PST file and find the sent items in another Outlook for Windows? If the issue only occurs in Outlook for MAC, I'd suggest you pose the question in the forums below:

  • HT203300 Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 no longer syncs contacts and calendars after upgrading to Yosemite

Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 no longer syncs contacts and calendars through iTunes after upgrading to Yosemite. It worked fine until I made the mistake of upgrading. Help!?

Please describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible. The "etrecheck" fad hasn't made that step any less necessary. The usual results of posting etrecheck output on this site without a full description of the problem are very poor.
The many "failed" or "killed" warnings that etrecheck sometimes spews are not a reason to reinstall the OS.
The better your description of the problem, the better the chance of a solution.
For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What other changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup.

  • How do I stop parallels and windows 7 preventing me from installing office for mac 2011 on my new iMac?

I am trying to install office for mac 2011 on my new imac which I have already installed parallels and windows 7.  On inserting the office dvd the computer defaults to windows.  Parallels support suggested disabling the dvd drive in parallels.  I have tried this but still the computer wants to open the exe file with windows.  Any ideas please?

  • HT1148 Office for Mac 2011 upgrade

How do I direct the Office for Mac 2011 service pack 2 where to find the program which isn't installed in the applications folder?

    Hi,
For exerything to work correctly, I would put the Office 2011 folder is in the Applications folder. But there might be an option in the installer to select a different  destination for the update if you have the Office 2011 folder located somewhere else.
Next, open Word and go to the help menu and come down to Check for Updates and follow the setps to download the latest update.
    Hope this helps.

  • G5 and Micorsoft Office for Mac 2011 upgrade

The new Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 system requirements state that my computer must have "HFS+ hard disk format (also known as Mac OS Extended or HFS Plus)." How do I know if my 2004 G5 has this? Thanks!

Office 2011 requires "A Mac computer with an Intel processor" and your G5 only has a PowerPC processor.
