Upgrading from original iPhone
In July I am getting iPhone4, is it possible to transfer contacts, texts, bookmarks, game data etc from iPhone1 to iPhone4?
If not is their a work around?

Ok, I read that they had to have the same OS and as iPhone one can't have iOS4 I wanted to make sure that that is possible.

Upgrading from Original iPhone to iPhone 3GS help!
Okay, I just read an article stating that it will cost a fat wallet to upgrade from the 3G to the 3GS, because of the whole contract early/late upgrade thing whatever. I still have the normal iPhone and I didn't upgraded to the new 3G. My contract has long been done and fulfilled. Do I have to pay the same crazy amount as 3G users to upgrade or will I have the benefit of buying it with the original $199/$299 price?

I think you may have some luck here. As you said, you have already completed your 2-year contract, right?
If so, then I think you can enjoy that subsidized price by opening a new two-year AT&T wireless service contract.
Still, I think you should contact AT&T to clear this ideas. Hope this helps! -
Best way to upgrade from original iPhone to 3Gs?
I've got an original iPhone that's having some problems which may make me get a 3Gs.
I'm looking for suggestions, tips, advice on things to consider when making the switch. Will the iTunes backup be sufficient to keep all my data, apps, contacts, calendars and everything else?
Any input is appreciated.Couple things I'd add to what's already posted...
1) Over the several upgrades I've done from 2G to 3G to 3GS for some reason I've found that not upgrading from a back up seems to give me a better end result...obviously the choice is yours...but if you have synced all data like calendars contacts email etc with a MAC or PC that will just be transferred back during your first sync then no harm in starting fresh with a clean copy of the 3.1.2 OS and then adding all data on...
2) When you upgrade, make sure you're using the very latest versions of iTunes...then make sure that ALL apps are up to date on BOTH iTunes AND iPhone BEFORE you sync for first time...for some reason I've found folks, myself included having issues with authorization and apps not transferring and most times it was due to the entire app library not being up to date on both sides before the upgrade... -

Upgrading from Origina iPhone to iPhone 3G
So as my title states I'm thinking of upgrading, I've had my OG iPhone for quite a while and after playing with a buddy's 3G phone I think I'm hooked. I'm just wondering if it is as simple as buying the phone and plugging into iTunes or what. Also I'm wondering if theres a required change in phone plans. Any help is appreciated, maybe this is easier than I am making it out to be.

Anthonythe best thing about upgrading is if you ever crack your screen it's ALOT cheaper to fix! my husband cracked the screen on the original iPhone. the only problem was that the LCD and the Lens are connected so you have to replace both. However, on the 3G iPhone, the Lens and LCD are separate. So if you crack your screen, all you have to do is replace the Lens instead of both parts (LCD's are alot more expensive!). When I cracked my screen on the 3G iPhone, i mailed it in to a repair center called Dr. Cell Phone. they fixed it for $99 and sent it back to me on the same day. good service. here's their website just in case any of you already have that problem (hopefully not!): www.drcellphone.com

I upgraded from an iphone 4 to a 4s, after a few initial problems and two restores, everythings seemed to be working...until I went to play some music, all music loaded to itunes via CD's played, but ALL purchased music from itunes does not play...i click on the song and the screen flashes to the image then goes back to the list of songs, so the purchased music shows up...just does not play. Can anyone help resolve this problem? Thanks!
here is an interesting thing: take the iphone and set lock screen to never. Now make an email with siri--be sure to activate her with call button. get to the body and get some text in there. then just stop talking. LOCK SCREEN APPEARS!!!!!! and of course you draft is gone.
There does seem to be a work around for some--maybe all these issues. Don't use the call button--use the buttons on the phone.
Siri seems to behave properly with scenerio above---sans call button. She does not go to lock. -
I have upgraded from an iphone to a 5. I have an itunes account on my laptop for the 4 and have started a new itunes account for the 5 on my desktop at work as the laptop was being fixed. I recently upgraded from my iPhone 3 to iPhone 4s. My old iPhone had not completed a sync in some time because of a faulty cable. But the old phone still will not sync properly even with the new cable.
Now that I have my new iPhone, I would like to first sync the old phone so all the data will be available for the new phone. I would also like to have an extra copy of my audio ebooks on the old iPhone so my husband and I can both listen at the same time using earphones while driving long distances in the car and then discuss the book. We have been unable to do this with the old iPhone alone due to constant road noise.I'm not sure what made the difference, but I tried again and it worked this time. ???????????

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5. I have a Motorola HX550 Bluetooth Headset which worked flawlessly with the iPhone 4s. However, since upgrading to the iPhone 5, I frequently lose audio when in the middle of a call. I am not certain whether it is a full disconnect or just an audio loss. The person on the other end reports still being able to hear me, however, I suppose they could hear me speaking over another source even if bluetooth disconnected. The loss of audio is always preceded by a quick shrill noise, so I can easily tell when it happens. All I have to do to fix the problem is to select Audio Source on the call screen, temporarily switch audio back to the iPhone, and then switch back to the headset, and then it starts working again.

Really nice Headset unless you own an Iphone 5. I own several Plantronics headsets and have always loved the quality/ performance. This headset seems not to be compatible with the new Iphone 5. In the middle of a conversation it will lose all incoming audio. This leaves you trying to switch audio sources really fast in order not to lose your phone call. Ive tried 3 legend headsets and they all do the same thing. Hopefully this gets fixed soon because the headset is really nice
Since this issue appears to affect multiple headsets from multiple vendors, I think it is fair to conclude that it is an issue with the iPhone5 bluetooth itself.
I am posting this as a new discussion as I don't see any other posts specific to this iPhone 5 Bluetooth issue. I would have reported this as a problem to Apple, but don't seem to be able to find a way to do this on the web. I have recently upgraded from my iphone 5 to a new phone. My iphone 5 's touch screen does not work anymore. I need to backup my phone, but I can't do it on itunes without my password. Everything besides the screen is completely fine-the screen will not recognize my finger anymore. I am not trying to fix the phone, but I need to have my contacts. The pictures have already synced, but I need my password to do a full backup. Unfortunately, I can't type in my password. Is there any way around it? If I take my phone to the apple store, will they be able to help me? I am not willing to replace the screen just to do this, however, so that is out of the question.
Someone else may have a workaround, but, as far as I know, if you cannot interact with the screen on the iPhone, there is no way to unlock it so you can get to your contacts.
Were you saving them to iCloud by chance? If so, you can restore them to your new phone.

Hi, I have recently upgraded from and Iphone 4 to 5. I completed a back up on my iphone 4 via icloud which went ok. When setting up my new phone I selected to set up as a new phone and not via icloud back up. Is there anyway I can restore my details to my new phone? Thanks Hayley
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and install any updates available.
Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from. -
Since i upgraded from an iphone 4 to a 5 my messages aren't being sent as imessages. I went into Optus and he said that all of the features are on and it should be sending imessages. He suggested i contact Apple..
