Upgrading from Sharepoint 2007

I am going to be upgrading my Sharpoint 2007 Intranet to either Sharepoint 2010 or 2013.
I want to create an Intranet and an Extranet in this new upgraded version. I want that if a document is added to the Intranet then it will also be replicated to the Extranet.
Does anyone know would I be better upgrading to SP 2010 or 2013 to facilitate this replication?
Thanks.

Hi,
You need to migrate your SP 2007 to SP 2010 first then you can migrate to SP 2013.
First ensure there is no error and green signal using "pre upgrade checker tool on your SP 2007 server".
If everything is fine then explore the approaches which feasible to you with in your cost and hardware upgrade plan.
If your SP 2007 site is just collaboration,I meant there is no custom application deployed on your web application, then DB attach method is the best approach.
You can download the SharePoint 2010 VM for this migration or try the trial Windows Azure.
Once done, create the host header based site collection in SP 2010(best to have) and extend "Extranet" zone.

  • SharePoint 2010 Upgrade from SharePoint 2007

Planning to stand up a new SharePoint 2010 farm.  Currently have a MOSS 2007 farm with integrated Project 2007.  Looking for online links [Book recommendations fine also] for the best process to get all the guts over in the cleanest way possible.
Also...need to understand the **Project 2007 [PWA] integration piece moving it over to SharePoint 2010.  Haven't found much out there specific to moving that Project 2007 content and functionality over to a new 2010 farm.
    Many thanks, MP.

  • Please Help!! Lists and libraries suddenly blocked just before migrating from SharePoint 2007 to 2010

    Hi all,
I took several weeks preparing the migration of a large farm from SharePoint 2007 to 2010 using the system of restore databases and mount site collections. I've built the new farm and I have done several full migration tests to verify that all was well the
    day of final migration.
The farm consists of three virtual servers: one with SQL Server 2012 and two with SharePoint Server 2010. Upon completion of the tests we've moved the servers to another network. We have turned on the servers and everything seems to work fine.
Just the day of the final migration I wanted to check the HealtReports list of the Central Administration, and when I wanted to look up an alert, the view window has not shown me anything and ribbon has appeared with all options grayed. Days ago worked fine.
Alarmed by this, I have started to check all lists and libraries in the Central Administration and the same happens. I can not view or change the items, nor add. Neither I can change the properties of the lists or libraries, as if everything was locked. I
tried on the main site collection and same thing happens, and I have tried with several user with Total Control permissions. I have also verified that the site collection was not in ReadOnly mode.
I have restored a site collection from SharePoint 2007 and have migrated successfully to 2010. Before applying visual upgrade I found that the content is also locked. It is as if he had changed anything in the configuration of the whole farm, but I can not
find what. The Event Viewer of the three server shows no errors related to this. The SharePoint LOGS not show anything unusual.
I do not know where to look and urges me to find a solution because the old servers must be out of service soon. I accept any suggestions.
    Kind regards.

Finally I answer myself because I've already found and fixed the problem. Before moving the servers in farm to the another network I've unplugged the single SharePoint server from the farm database for to clone it. Apparently
this disconnection removes all the implemented solutions and the farm remains without servers. Reconnecting the servers not re-implements the solutions. When I was about to create a new farm I have seen that all solutions were not implemented,
I have implemented one by one and the system worked again.
If any of you happen reaches you, now you know what it may be due.
Kind regards!! Now I'm a happy man! ;)

  • Since upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 the conversations in Outlook do not group by subject

    Hi Microsoft,
Since we have upgraded from Exchange 2007 to 2013 users complain their conversations in Outlook are no longer grouped based on the subject of an e-mail. I looks like Outlook uses other message properties for grouping e-mails in a conversation.
I have investigated all the forum topics and see that with exchange 2010 there is support added for the use of conversation-ID's. However the functionality to automatically group e-mails with the same subject in one conversation in Outlook is gone!
I would like to know if there is a fix to implement so that some our users get this functionality back. For Example: Let the exchange server not generate conversation-ID's and message-ID's for certain users.
    Your help is greatly appreciated!

    Totally correct!
If you don't plan to maintain Outlook then you plan to fail :(

  • Unable to edit document from SharePoint 2007 using Office 2013 and IE 11

I am getting the following error when I try to edit a document from SharePoint 2007: "Edit document
requires a Windows Sharepoint services-compatible application and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater". I am using Windows 7 with Office 2013 and Internet Explorer 11. Troubleshooting steps that I've tried so far (that haven't worked) are as follows:
    1) repaired Office; 2) switched from 64 bit version of IE to 32 bit version; 3) moved the owssupp.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\ to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15; 4) tried removing old versions of Office (but
I still need to use Office Communicator 2007 r2 and couldn't figure out how to get rid of the Office14 files from Program Files); and 5) running SharePoint in IE compatibility mode. Please advise...thanks!

    Hi,
It seems you installed mixed version Office2007/2010/2013 on your client machine?
I would suggest you remove all Office 2007 and 2010 version, and reinstall Office 2013(include Office Tools->Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support component) on your machine, and make sure "Open SharePointDocuments class" add-on is enabled
from IE11, then check if it could fix the issue.
If above works, please test again after installing the Office Communicator 2007 r2 on your machine.

Increased Batch Size from default 1000 to 32000, still that error.
Thought, this was List size problem, but small lists still do not export.
Also, the same lists perfectly export from SharePoint 2010 using the very same component.
Any solutions for this error ?
    Thanks in advance

I think you need a lower version of the adapter that targets SP 2007

Appreciate if someone can help us move forward in this scenario.
    We have
    1. disabled anti virus and tried.
    2. removed watermarks and action entries in the registry
    3. tried almost everything mentioned on google but i am not able to move forward.
Please help. we need this as part of our migration to Exchange 2013 for co-existence.
    Thank you.

  • SSIS SharePointListAdapter fails while exporting a SharePoint List from SharePoint 2007

    Greetings,
I'm trying to export List from SharePoint 2007 into SQL Server table, using SSIS  SharePointListSource component (installed from https://sqlsrvintegrationsrv.codeplex.com/releases/view/17652)
But in component editor I'm getting this error :

Increased Batch Size from default 1000 to 32000, still that error.
Thought, this was List size problem, but small lists still do not export.
Also, the same lists perfectly export from SharePoint 2010 using the very same component.
Any solutions for this error ?
    Thanks in advance

The reason was the  difference in List's names on web portal and the name of list itself.

  • MS System Center Operations Manager 2010 Download required for Upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 (Select)

We need the download of SCOM 2012 without Service Pack1.
Upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 (select license) fails while upgrade check with error: Logs shows "At least one of the following applications is installed on this computer. Due
to incompatibility with System Center 2012 - Operations Manager, these applications must be uninstalled."
Upgrade was started from dos elevated prompt with modified parameters like this:
    setup.exe /silent /upgrade
    /AcceptEndUserLicenseAgreement:1
    /UseLocalSystemDASAccount
    /DataReaderUser:<domain\user>
    /DataReaderPassword:<password>
Research in internet and we found another person with same issue, which reports that direct upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 SP1 is not possible but if upgrade is done over
SCOM 2012 to SCOM 2012 SP1 it succeeds.
Unfortunately, we don't find any downloads for the first release of System Center 2012  e.g. Operations Manager.
Everything shows Service Pack 1 or the newer R2.
    Who can help?

Our “Recommended” rolling upgrade path looks like the following:
    SCOM 2007R2 CU4+ > SCOM 2012 RTM UR2+ >
    SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4+ > SCOM 2012 R2

Hi, I want to move two libraries from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010
And also there is one folder (in another third library) want to SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010 library.
Can I use Export command for library in SharePoint 2007 and Import in SharePoint 2010?
    And how to move folders?

    Hi Prakash,
You can use third party tools like Metalogix which free for up to 25 GB data

we are planning to Upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 R2 on a single server. We are planning to do in place upgrade.

If you looking for a guide, check : http://blogs.4ward.it/how-to-upgrade-to-scom-2012-from-scom-2007-inplace-upgrade/
MS documentation for the upgrade is located at: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh476934.aspx

  • After the in place upgrade from SharePoint server 2007 to 2010, the out of the box approval workflow does not prompt for additional information after check in of a major version.

I think it has to do with the interaction between Word, InfoPath, IIS, and /or SharePoint, but I cannot put my finger on it.  Maybe client integration or authentication settings?  I have looked at it in wireshark
and have not seen anything glaring.
Steps to reproduce the (working) behavior:
Set up a document library in SharePoint 2010.
Under versioning settings, make the following changes:
Set Require Content Approval for submitted Items to Yes
Select Create Major and Minor (draft) versions
    Set require checkout to Yes
Create an out of the box “approval” workflow with the following settings:
Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item.
I then create a new document. Save it.  check it in.  it is now version 0.1.
I then open it again. check it out.  Make a change. Close and save it.
    Check it in.
    Publish major version:
At this point a screen is presented to me to enter workflow parameters.  This screen comes up in Enterprise 2013 and MOSS 2007, but not the migrated version of 2010:
This is what I need help with.  It should come up in 2010.  To fix it in 2013, I had to change the IIS bindings to only have 1 entry for a port.  I did this for 2010 and it did not work.
Any help or ideas is very appreciated.  Thanks very much in advance.

    Hi Chris,
According to your description, my understanding is that the approval workflow cannot work when the workflow was set to start to approve publishing a major version of an item after upgrading to SharePoint 2010.
I recommend to check the approval workflow in Workflow settings of the corresponding library to see if the Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item is checked.
For test, I recommend to create a new OOB approval workflow and set it to start to approve publishing a major version of an item in the same library to see if the workflow can work.
    Thanks
    Victoria
