Upgrading from Student Version question???

If I have Final Cut Pro 5, the student version, am I able to upgrade that to Final Cut Pro 7, by just buying the upgrade for $300 from apple??

No. Academic versions are not upgradeable.

  • Is it possible to upgrade from Student version Lightroom 3 to a private Lightroom 5?

I'm trying to find out if I can upgrade from my student version of Lightroom 3 to a private version of Lightroom 5, or do I have to buy the whole version of Lightroom 5? I would like to be sure about which to buy before I make a purchase and obviously make a saving if I can just purchase the upgrade.

You can simply buy the upgrade, no need to buy the complete version.

  • Upgrade from student version to regular version.

    Hi,
I purchased a student version of LR4 about a year ago.  Now I want to purchase a non-student version of LR5.  Can I just buy the upgrade or do I need to buy LR5?  If LR5 will I then have both LR4 and LR5 on my MAC?

Yes, you can buy the upgrade "version" of Lightroom 5. Actually, there is only one version of Lightroom. The program is the same. There are just different licensing provisions. When you install Lightroom 5 you will have both versions on your computer. They will work independently of each other. You can keep Lightroom 4 for as long as you want. I still have it on my computer, but will probably remove it soon because I very seldom use it anymore.
Since you have Lightroom 4 installed, the installation of the new version will find the needed serial number, and you only have to enter the serial number with the new version.

  • Why can't I upgrade my student version of creative suite to a professional version?

I purchased the student version of creative suite 6 in January to learn the software for a class that my job was paying me to take.  We decided that the software was worth investing in so my company wants to upgrade my student version to a professional version.  ( It turns out I am not allowed to use student version software for professional purposes - I don't know if that is a law or just a rule).  So I call up customer support to pay for the upgrade and cancel the student version.  I am told this isn't possible and that they have to create a whole new account and charge me a cancellation fee for my old account.  Then they send me to a sales rep who was a total jerk and told me he couldn't help me and spent 20 minutes seriously making fun of me.  What kind of sales rep makes fun of people?  Then he sent me back to customer support who of course couldn't help either and they had to then sent me to a cancellation guy.  By this time, I had been on the phone for an hour.  So this guy tells me my current contract requires me to pay $79 a month and to cancel it will cost my $280? WTH?  My student version costs only $30 a month.  I have invoices to prove it.  So then he charges me $112 to cancel but he can't set up a new account.  Of course, that has to be done by somebody else.  But after this horrible experience, why should I sign up AGAIN?  And why did I have to pay $112 to cancel when what I really wanted was an upgrade?

Fasiababy1 I am sorry that you have had a difficult experience.  As Ned mentioned if you have an annual contract then your best option is to continue utilizing the student version of the software.  You are also welcome to use the Student and Teacher Edition commercially you can find more details in the Education FAQ - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/education-faq.html.  In specific the following element is relevant to your inquiry:
Can I use Student and Teacher Edition products commercially?
Yes, Student and Teacher Edition products can be used commercially.
In addition for more details regarding canceling your subscription please see our discussion regarding questions for your Creative Cloud subscription at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1146459.
Finally do you have a case number which I can reference from your interaction with our support team?

  • Upgrade from student CS4 to eLearning 2.5

I want to upgrade my student version to a full version of eLearning 2.5. Based on what I have read online, it appears to me that there is no problem upgrading to a full version suite. Is that correct?
    Thanks!

The right side, near the top, has the link to buy... says "upgrade from $599"

  • Upgrading from Trial version to Developer Edition

We installed SQL server 2014 trial edition in 2014 and the trial period just expired. No longer access SQL server 2014. Also in 2014 I purchased the SQL server 2014 Developer Edition.
I go in the maintenance section of SQL server 2014 and try to upgrade by entering my product key and get an error message that my product key is not valid. I called Microsoft and two different employees confirmed my product key is good.
Should I be able to upgrade from Trial version to Developer Edition by simply entering my product key?
    Thank you

    Hi cguay01,
As other post, you should be able to upgrade from Trial Edition to Developer Edition by entering product key from SQL Server setup wizard, you can follow the steps in this similar
blog. You can also use the following command lines to upgrade SQL Server 2014 Trial to a full version.
    Setup.exe /q /ACTION=editionupgrade /INSTANCENAME=<MSSQLSERVER or instancename> /PID=<PID key for new edition>" /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS
According to your description, the issue that “product key is not valid” might be caused by several reasons such as corrupted installation file, antivirus scanning and so on. There are some proposals for you troubleshooting this issue.
    1. Please ensure that your SQL Server installation file is not corrupted. If you are using ISO download, please copy the content of the ISO image to the local disk on your computer and upgrade SQL Server from there.
    2. Make sure you use corresponding license key matched the edition and version of SQL Server.
    3. Make sure that you don’t exceed the limit of allowed activations of the product key.
    4. Turn off any Anti-virus software when upgrading SQL Server.

  • Upgrading from old versions

A colleague and I have just received new PC's. They came with
Microsoft Office 2003 pre-installed. Previously we were using
Robohelp 2002 with MS Office 97. When I tried to install RH2002 on
our new PC's it failed as the new MS Office was incompatible. So,
we purchased upgrades to RH6. When I tried to install the upgrades
that fails because we don't have an old version of RoboHelp
installed. The installer prompts for a serial number/key for RH X5,
which we don't have. I spoke to Adobe Tech support who said I
needed to talk to Customer Support, who said I should talk to Tech
    Support......
At the moment I can't install my old RH because of MS Office
2003, so I can't upgrade to RH6 which I need to support MS Office
2003. Has anyone ecountered a similar problem in the past? What it
    Adobe provide as the solution?
    TIA
    Mick Mathers

    They don't have X5 Colum.
Mick, you could be in trouble here. You can upgrade from any
version. I am not sure if you have to go via Support if it is
earlier than X5 but the issue here is that you don't have your 2002
serial number to start with. The link below tells you what to do
but because your version is outside the parameters, it maybe that
Adobe cannot help you if you did not register.

  • Upgrading from student vr. of 5.5?

Hi, I am interested in purchasing Adobe CS5.5 Web Premium Student & Teacher Edition from Amazon.ca as it's cheaper & easier for me to use than CS6. My questions are, if I choose to upgrade to CS6 a) is an upgrade available from CS5.5 to CS6 b) how much does it cost and c) how much time left do I have to upgrade? I couldn't find the answer on the FAQ page, all I saw was something about a free upgrade which I'm pretty sure I wouldn't qulify for and the agent I spoke to was completely useless who just wanted me to buy CS6 outright...

Nobody can tell you anything. If you buy CS5.5 now and decide to upgrade to CS6 next year, that may no longer be possible. With this weeks announcement for the Creative Cloud only model you shouldn't expect conventional retail versions to be around forever. Also S&T versions can only be upgraded to commercial versions, so if you are still a student one year from now and want to avoid double-spending on the full suite, no matter the discounted price, you might as well buy CS6 now.

  • Upgrade from Student License

I am a student at the moment (but hopefully not much longer, a year or so) thinking about buying a student license of Lightroom. My question now: Is it possible to upgrade from a student version to the full version of a new release (let's say version 2.0;-) or do I then have to buy a full license?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alexandra

The versions sre alll the same, only the price is different.AFAIK.
You'll only have to pay the higher price once you can't back up the lower with an ID.

  • Upgrade from Student CS3

    Hi,
I have the DW CS3 Student Version, which I have been using
throughout my Web Design course (provided by the School). I would
like to use this program commercially, which isn't allowed in the
    Student version.
    - Can I upgrade?
    - Or do I have to purchase the full version?
    - If I can upgrade, how much does it cost (I'm in the UK)?
    Many Thanks!
    Shelley

I think David's point is that you should talk to the source
rather than going to a public forum because no one from Adobe will
respond in the public forum. Your question is a sales question that
is better answered by sales staff rather than people who come here
primarily for product support after purchase.
I myself am from the US so I cannot attest to any terms or
conditions that may be different for Adobe outside the US. Also the
best prices I would be able to supply are ones using an online
calculator, which from personal experience I can say are typically
unreliable and usually not representative of pricing elsewhere.
I would follow David's advice on this one because people can
say one thing here, but Adobe will have the final word on the
    discussion.
