Upgrading from Studio 1 to Studio 2

I'm about to upgrade from Studio 1 to 2 and wanted to know if there is anything I need to uninstall/delete before I do so. Basically, I know I can put in the discs as prompted, but am I duplicating a whole mess of files that I don't need to, or is it updating what it needs to and not creating tons of duplicate files. Also, what about the STP loops, LiveType files, etc. Am I going to have to delete the ones that came with FCP Studio 1 after the install?
Any advice would be great....

It appeared to add the new stuff, but I didn't do an exhaustive check since I don't use Soundtrack much. I've got lots of folders of "apple loops for sound tracks" but only unique ones in the library folders. I moved a bunch of stuff around some time ago (Final Cut Express, Garage Band, etc.)
The LiveType folders appear to be unique.
So, I'm surmising that I didn't get duplicates or old stuff eliminated, but just new stuff added / updated (there are some full 5.1 sound files).
I have tons of space on my system drive (500GB drive), so I tend to be a pack rat unless I get confusing lists of sounds, effects, etc. with duplicates. Then I clean up.

That's correct.
You can upgrade from a single product to a suite, or from a
suite to

Where's the upgrade from studio 8 to 9?

I own a fully licensed version of Logic Studio 8. I just recently got the funds to upgrade it to 9. I have looked in both the App Store, Apple's online store and other online vendors I use, and I cannot find the upgrade to go from 8 to 9. All I have found is:
- full version of Logic 9 Studio (box set)
- full version of Logic 9 Pro (not Studio) for download on App Store.
What is up with this? Do you have to know some secret to find the upgrade? Or is Apple just screwing us Logic 8 purchasers by not providing upgrades?

I wish they'd done this before I shelled out for the full version of 8. I had 7 but I lost the xs-key so I had to buy full to upgrade.
But I guess it's an even tradeoff with the lower price plus being able to have it on all macs.
However, I was about to go download it, and I realized that there is no "Studio" on the app store. There is only plain "Pro" which does not include all of the loops, patches, instruments, etc., and does not include Mainstage. What will happen to all of that if I download it? Will it just upgrade the parts it has and leave the rest? or will it take away the other parts?
Also, what if I want to upgrade all of Studio and not just the DAW as with Pro? Am I stuck paying $500 for a box version that only goes on one computer? In that case, I do still really feel screwed.

Does anyone know anywhere to still purchase the single DVD Studio Pro 4 upgrade, without buying the whole studio package?
If not, will Studio Pro 2 still run ok on OS 10.4?

CS3 DW upgrade and now discover that this is not available to
Studio 8/MX purchasers. I had completely forgotten that I had
Studio, as I only use DW. I've also purchased Contribute and an
upgrade separately.
Is there anything that can be done? I've tried the helpline
but it only works Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

OT: Upgrading from Studio MX (v.6)

I have Macromedia Studio MX version 6. I would like to
upgrade to Adobe
Creative Suite 4. However, my version of Studio MX does not
qualify me for
an upgrade.
Does anyone know of anywhere where I can buy, at a cheap

It's hard to find something for Dreamweaver these days, but I
think if you put up an eBay email alert to notify you if anything
comes up, that eventually you might find something good. Amazon.com
marketplace sellers might have something for you (see if they'll
ship internationally). Unless you can find a good deal on an old
copy of Studio, I fear you're going to have to pay the full price.
This is why I am forcing myself to bite the bullet and buy
upgrades now, even though the version I currently have is okay for
me for the moment. I know I'll regret it bitterly if I let the time
pass and my software no longer can be upgraded. *grumble
grumble*

SWF not displaying after changing from Studio 8 to CS4 [was: same not transferred...]

I recently upgraded from Studio 8 to CS4 and on one of my pages I have a .swf as a dependent file with an .htm page, I tried to change that .swf to another the put the .htm page onto the webserver, but its still showing the original .swf and within the details when putting its saying for that .swf(same not transferred)...any ideas would be greatly apprecitated as Im stumpted

The method of inserting SWF files has changed completely in Dreamweaver CS4. You cannot simply swap the source file.
Delete the original SWF file from the page, and remove all related code. Then insert the new SWF. You also need to upload expressInstall.swf and swfobject_modified.js from the Scripts folder that Dreamweaver creates in your site root.

To upgrade to CS6 from CS5 which its already un upgrade from Studio 8, to I need the registration numbers of the latter?

if you want to install cs6 only, you'll need the serial number of cs5 and cs6.
if you want to install cs5 and cs6, you'll need the serial numbers of studio 8, cs5 and cs6.

The synth pad sound Warm Pad has changed after upgrading from Logic Express 7 to Logic Studio

Hello!
I have composed a lot of songs over the years using Logic Express 7, and my favourite synth pad sound there was a sound called Warm Pad (from the EXS24 Sampler).
A half a year ago I upgraded to Logic Studio, mainly because I needed WaveBurner. Happily, all my songs sounded exactly the same after the upgrade, except from 1 sound: The synth pad sound Warm Pad. It still got the same name and location, but the sound was replaced with a very sharp and much more distinct sound (not warm at all, in my ears at least).
I have tried to replace it with different synth pad sounds from the EXS24 Sampler, and the one I find to come most close to the old Warm Pad from Logic Express, is a synth pad sound called Pad 1. Still, I don’t think it sound exactly the same.
So, in order to finish all my songs and make an album, I ask you for help:
1. Do you know how I can get EXACTLY the same sound as the old Warm Pad Logic Express, with my new Logic Studio?
2. Have you experienced the same with sounds, after upgrading from one Logic version to a newer one? And what have you done to find back to the old sounds?
I will be VERY thankful for help, because I am not a genius in the mysterious (but yet exiting) world of synthesizer synthesis.

I have the boxed version of logic studio.
When you install, if you pick the "ad hoc" installation you can add the logic7 patches to your existing patches.
I think running installation again you should be able to install just that.

Missing EXS Samples when upgrading from LP7 to Studio

I performed a full upgrade from Logic 7 to Studio which seemed to go flawlessly. However, when accessing many of the EXS factory sounds I have recieved error messages telling me that certain audio files are missing and the instruments fail to load. Very frustrating as I have many older songs that require these samples and I can't find them anywhere. Some of the missing samples are legacy instruments but there are many missing from the new set, such as Steinway & Pad. Any ideas? I'd rather not do a reinstall if possible...

Yes, this is an installer issue, and has been talked about here in many many threads.
Reinstall, reinstall GB4, or re-install the missing content manually using Pacifist, is the quick solution. If you want all the details, do some searches, as there are hundreds of posts on this issue when people starting upgrading to Logic Studio.

Problems upgrading from Logic 6.4 to Logic Studio

I recently had my hard drive die, so i am now in the process of reloading all my software. I started with Logic 6.4 years ago and have been purchasing the upgrades ever since. I first installed Logic 6.4 with the dongle inserted than i installed Logic studio. I than updated the software. However, now Logic will not open. I get the prompt;
"Upgrading from Logic 6.4 to Logic Studio running 10.6.7 2.66 i7 17 inch running problem. After install Logic will not open. Updated all the software. On a Macbook Pro"
Is there something i'm doing wrong.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7. Doing this costs money; you may find it easier and cheaper to upgrade to Yosemite, which is free.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

No. FCP X is a completely new application, sold only through the Mac App Store. There is no upgrade from old versions. Anyway, in the old days even an upgrade would cost at least as much as the whole cost of FCP X...

Upgrade from SSRS 2008 to visual studio 2012/2013

Is it possible to upgrade Visual Studio BIDS file/project types from 2008R2 to 2012/2013:
SSRS *.sln
SSIS * .dtsx
*.dbproj
If it is possible, can the resulting (upgraded) 2012/2013 file/projects be back-ended in 2008R2 SQL Server database engine?
Or is it necessary to have the version of the back-end SQL Server database engine match the version of the VS BIDS projects?

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 does not support Business Intelligence Development Studio Integration Services, Report Services and Analysis Services projects for SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2.
To work around this issue, you can install Visual Studio 2008 alongside Visual Studio 2010 on the same machine and then open the Business Intelligence Development Studio projects in Visual Studio 2008.
(we have to follow side-by-side installation of SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2008. since you may have
some issues with BIDS.)
