Can I Upgarde My GPU CPU : 5th Gen I7 5500u 2.4ghz tB upto 3.0ghzRam : 8gb Exandable To 16gb (1600mhz)
, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums. The answer to your question is no. The gpu is built into the motherboard. If you want a system where you have a chance to upgrade your video and other components you will want to look into a desktop. Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

What to upgrade to from Nvidia Geforce 8600
I have a Gateway FX 530S
Intel core 2 quad CPU Q 6600 @ 2.40 GHz 2.30 GHz
memory RAM 4.GB
32-bit operating system
I play online games alot.... World of Warcraft
Current Graphic card: Nvidia Geforce 8600 gt
1024 x 768 monitor
windows Vista Home
I want to know the best to upgrade to that my system can handle in the price range up to 160.00I disagree - I have a Q6600 and the GTX460 provided a significant improvement in visual quality (the ability to crank texture resolution and FSAA up in WoW) on a Q6600.
However only low-end GTX460s fall within the OP's price range. However, there are a number of cards that fall between the 8600 and the GTX460 in performance that would work for the OP.)
I'm not sure what the current "$100 workhorse" video card is these days. First it was the 8800GT, then it was the GT240, dunno what now.
The GTS450 seems to be in a fairly good price/performance sweet spot that should perform significantly better than the 8600GT.

HP Pavillion p6-2204a with HP Nvidia GT 630 Upgrade GPU to Asus GTX 750 ti OC Strix
I just checked the specs of the single fan.
They both have the same requirement of recommended PSU Watts and power consumption.
I already sent an email the ebay seller and asked about the Switch(Hybrid and legacy) , Power connector and if the card will run on a 300watt PSU for the power consumtion is very low.

My Photoshop CC don't detect my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M.
Hi!
Please help me...
My Photoshop CC don't detect my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M.
I read a lot of topics in network - nothing help me...:
1) I update my GPU Driver to newest.
2) I set a 3d settings in Nvidia Control Panel.
3) I try to change a lot of settings in Photoshop (nothing happen)
4) I restarted my computer 100 times.
My seetings:
Could you help me?
Thanks!Solved it!!
I have gtx 870m and it worked for me.
In the "nvidia control panel" / "manage 3D settings" / "Program Settings" you hate to add the gpu sniffer.
click "add" then "Browse" and the find "sniffer.exe"
C:/Program files/adobe/adobe photoshop/sniffer.exe
Than just open photoshop normally and it should work. -
I want to install a helicopter simulator into my MacPro1,1 with ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512 MB and Open GL 1.7.7. Recommended system requirements for the heli simulator are: OpenGL Version 2.1 compatible 3D-graphics card from NVIDIA or ATI with 512MB (at least as fast as NVIDIA 8600, 9400 or ATI Radeon HD 2400). Is there such a graphics card available that will work in my Mac Pro?
Are you really still running 10.6.3? you will need 10.6.5+ so do that and make a clone.
ATI 5770 from Apple Store - like 1000s of others have done and in the comments section on the store page. -
Upgrade GPU in MSI GT780DXR?
I've had the MSI GT780DXR for a while now, and wondering if i could upgrade the GPU. Right now it's stocked with a GTX 570m. I was wondering if there are any GPUs I could upgrade too. If it is possible, could you leave instructions on how to, and if there is anything special i need to do to my computer. Thanks!
Does your laptop come with Optimus? If it comes with NVidia's Optimus technology.....you can't upgrade to an AMD HD7970m, simply because it won't work together.......
If your laptop had a GTX570 in it, I would upgrade to another NVidia based card.......for the purpose of better compatibility.
I would go with the GTX675MX or GTX680M if you really want as much performance as possible.
Regarding where to purchase it....I'm not sure. You might be able to get one straight from the MSI Store if you search or email them about it.
Ebay is probably your other bet, but I'm not sure I would trust that very much either. Unless it says it comes from another MSI laptop (most likely a GT70/GT60).
As far as the other questions, you don't really need much except a few screwdrivers, some heatsink compound for the new card, maybe some papertowels and acetone to clean the old heatsink compound off.
Nothing is garunteed to work 100% though, so keep that in mind with this upgrade. -
Can you update Video Drivers from Nvidia?
Hello,
I have an iMac 27-inch, late 2012 model with a built in Nvidia GTX - 660M 512 MB video card. Is it possible to use the Nvidia driver update for this build in card or should I only use Apple's video driver update? I'm sure there have been updates from Nvidia, but I haven't had a Apple update for at lease six months. I'm not having any problems, but like to keep current on drivers.
Thanks,
DennisIn OS X, Apple provides GPU driver updates with every OS X update, so you don't have to worry about the driver. If you have Windows installed with Boot Camp, then you can install the most recent NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA site > http://www.nvidia.com
Note that GPU drivers don't come as individual drivers, but they come with OS X updates. For example, updates like 10.8.5 or Mavericks may come with updated drivers -
GTX 760M 2GB DDR5 or GTX 850M 4GB DDR3 for Premiere Pro
I'm hesitating whether to buy Asus N56JR or N550JK.
Asus N56JR come with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760M 2GB DDR5
Asus N550JK come with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M 4GB DDR3.
For the Memory, I will upgrade it to 16GB RAM
Both come with Intel Core i7-4700QM Processor & 1TB HDD 7200RPM
My question is for Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop, which one is recommended?
Thank youI have N56JR and I use it for Premiere Pro, After Effects osv. It Works perfectly, but you must remember to set the nVidia card for the programs, or it will use Your other, Integrated intelcard, and that doesn't work that well (to say the least). But Yeah, everything is smooth and Works fine.I think you must set the Premiere Pro for CUDA engine too..

Nvidia Response to GTX Series Voltage Control
I thought it would be worth posting this in light of recent events.
Quote from: brightsideofnews.com, 3rd October 2012
We contacted Nvidia for comment and received a response from their Senior PR Manager, Bryan Del Rizzo with the following,
"Green Light was created to help ensure that all of the GTX boards in the market all have great acoustics, temperatures, and mechanicals. This helps to ensure our GTX customers get the highest quality product that runs quiet, cool, and fits in their PC. GTX is a measureable brand, and Green Light is a promise to ensure that the brand remains as strong as possible by making sure the products brought to market meet our highest quality requirements.
Reducing RMAs has never been a focus of Green Light.
We support overvoltaging up to a limit on our products, but have a maximum reliability spec that is intended to protect the life of the product. We don’t want to see customers disappointed when their card dies in a year or two because the voltage was raised too high.
Regarding overvoltaging above our max spec, we offer AICs two choices:
· Ensure the GPU stays within our operating specs and have a full warranty from NVIDIA.
· Allow the GPU to be manually operated outside specs in which case NVIDIA provides no warranty.
We prefer AICs ensure the GPU stays within spec and encourage this through warranty support, but it’s ultimately up to the AIC what they want to do. Their choice does not affect allocation. And this has no bearing on the end user warranty provided by the AIC. It is simply a warranty between NVIDIA and the AIC.
With Green Light, we don’t really go out of the way to look for ways that AICs enable manual OV. As I stated, this isn’t the core purpose of the program. Yes, you’ve seen some cases of boards getting out into the market with OV features only to have them disabled later. This is due to the fact that AICs decided later that they would prefer to have a warranty. This is simply a choice the AICs each need to make for themselves. How, or when they make this decision, is entirely up to them.
With regards to your MSI comment below, we gave MSI the same choice I referenced above -- change their SW to disable OV above our reliability limit or not obtain a warranty. They simply chose to change their software in lieu of the warranty. Their choice. It is not ours to make, and we don’t influence them one way or the other.
In short, Green Light is an especially important program for a major, new product introduction like Kepler, where our AICs don’t have a lot of experience building and working with our new technologies, but also extends the flexibility to AICs who provide a design that can operate outside of the reliability limits of the board. And, if you look at the products in the market today, there is obviously evidence of differentiation. You only need to look at the large assortment of high quality Kepler boards available today, including standard and overclocked editions."

What does this mean for consumers?
This essentially breaks down to giving consumers fewer options between their cards and limits the innovation that AIBs are capable of implementing in their products. If Nvidia is limiting the AIBs within a set of parameters on their non-reference cards, then they are hurting those board vendors' most profitable products. This gives consumers less choice, while enabling Nvidia to theoretically have lower RMAs. Such a program does, however, make sense if you think about the perception of Nvidia if all of their board partners are running amok. They obviously have to have a certain level of control over what their AIBs do with their GPUs if they are going to warranty them. But, we believe that Nvidia has gone too far in their restrictions on board partners and amount of control they exercise in the process.
So, the Green Light program is a program that we believe hurts AIBs and consumers while enabling Nvidia to reduce their RMA rate and improve their margins. If you are an Nvidia investor, this is great news, but if you are a consumer, this is clearly bad news. Nvidia claims that this has to do with the quality of the product and smoothness of launches, however, we believe that in the end it's all about money.
SourceMore to it than meets the eye, it seems...

Nvidia accused of crippling board partners' designs
A source inside one of Nvidia's largest graphics manufacturing partners, who spoke to us on the condition that they remain anonymous, explains: 'The fact is Nvidia is stopping ALL partners from allowing any form of hardware/software overvolting, or providing hardware mods beyond its very limited restrictions. They threaten to cut allocation [of GK100 parts] if hardware mods aren’t removed or avoided entirely.'
While homebrew soldering-iron-and-prayer overvolting is still permitted, manufacturing partners aren't allowed to make it easy for buyers. 'We're not allowed to openly advertise the PCB markings [for overvoltage adjustment] on the GTX 680,' our source continues.
Quote:
Claims that manufacturers aren't being restricted in their designs beyond the confines of the Green Light programme are soundly denied by our source, however. We've been told that the secretive restrictions on board partners go yet further: 'They [Nvidia] also threaten allocation if you make a card faster than the [stock] GTX 690.'
These restrictions are not limited to just a couple of companies, either: they appear to stretch right across the board, and are responsible for product cancellations and - as with EVGA's removal of the EVBot header from the GTX 680 Classified - hardware modifications from multiple manufacturers. They're also leaving a bad taste in board partners' mouths: where in previous generations each company has been able to push its own cards to the limit in order to beat the competition, under Nvidia's alleged new rules all GTX 680 boards will be more or less identical in performance and features.
The hardware restrictions are a loss for the consumer, too: EVGA has already stated that it won't be reducing the price of the GeForce GTX 680 Classified, despite removing the EVBot header and corresponding facility for custom voltages outside Nvidia's recommended limits - meaning buyers now get less card for their cash than before the company capitulated to Nvidia's alleged demands.
We've approached other board partners, but thus far none have been willing to comment on the record regarding our source's claims of hardware restrictions - and with our source alleging that Nvidia may even cut chip allocations for companies that talk publicly about the matter, that's no surprise.

Here is the link to service manual of your product: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03099448.pdf
You can go through Page 4 Chapter 1 of service manual. As far as your graphics chip is concerned, your current Intel HD 3000 GPU is integrated into your Motherboard and as such, is not an upgradeable component.
Although Models similar to yours come with a 'Dedicated Graphics Card', the 'Card' is still soldered to the Motherboard and can't be changed.
Hope this resolves your concern.

Upgrading problem from win 7 to 8 T510
I have a T510 just reinstalled Win 7 using Lenovo recovery and now I am looking at upgrading to Win 8 to give a try.
I am lazy so I just unistalled softwares that are specifically pointed out by Windows 8 upgrade assistant during process, not ones that listed incompatible in the compatibility chart but those that actually prevents the upgrade assistant from proceeding. And apparently just uninstalling them is not enough.
The problem is I don't know exactly what softwares are causing proble. The great thinkpad utility softwares seem to become the biggest obstacles to upgrading. And those drivers. However I really don't want to unistall all of them and potentially found out that the upgrading still doesn't work. If I have to delete all lenovo softwares, I guess a clean install will be less troublesome.
So I am wondering if someone who successfully upgraded could give out the software or drivers that he or she uninstalled or share some other experience. I really appreciate that.
Btw, I wish either Microsoft or Lenovo will release a better upgrade assistant that will take care of uninstallation issue for the users. I know Lenovo has a list of softwares that need to be uninstalled. Is there any chance you can make a exe or bat file that unistall all of them at once? I think most thinkpad users like me still have the standard software package installed as the machine came in and it really save a lot of trouble.
Thanks

Go to Solution.I think the Windows 8 package you downloaded can be used to make a fresh install as well as upgrade from Windows 7.
If you run the Windows 8 package you downloaded it should give you the option to create a Media install. So grab a 4GB USB drive, run the Windows 8 package and select the option to Create Media Installation, or something to that description.
Select the USB drive and it will create a Bootable Windows 8 install.
You can use this, with your Key, to create a fresh install.
I'm dual booting, on the same drive, for now while I get used to WIndows 8.

Removing keyboard layout to upgrade GPU
Hi,
I'm using a G575 and noted that there is no way to open the top of the keyboard cover other than some cracks I saw between keyboard and the insides. Just wondering how to go about opening up this portion. Another thing that I want to ask about is, whether or not there is the ability to a) upgrade GPU and b) replenish CPU thermo paste (want to replace it with higher performance).
Regards,
Jim
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi bassbelouder,
Welcome to the Lenovo Community Forums.
Please see Hardware and maintenance manual under page 47. Please exercise caution when accessing components in the laptop. Please follow steps listed under page 33 of the service manual before replacing parts. To replace the keyboard you need to remove the battery and the access panel first. Then after this you will need to remove 3 keyboard screws. After removing the 3 keyboard screws, you can use a plastic pick (prying tool) or your fingernails to lift the keyboard up a little from the edge, then slowly slide the keyboard towards the LCD panel.
With regards to CPU thermo paste you should be able to apply it with a different thermal paste of your choice. However, with the GPU the integrated version does not show any provision for any available slots for the upgrade.
Hope this helps.

GS60 2 PL GTX 850M yellow exclamation Code 43 Windows 8.1
Folks,
Wondering if any other GS60 (or other Ghost) owners have had issues with GeForce GTX vs Intel HD issues. Have tried several things so far including clean installs / driver resets, etc. Basically, my GeForce GTX 850M shows up in Device Manager for Windows 8.1 with a yellow exclamation and Code 43 on my GS 60 2 PL (Ghost-012). Have observed the following:
(1) nVidia control Panel does not run, GeForce Experience detects no drivers (even though both are installed)
(2) Latest driver that will install is 333.02, later drivers can't detect hardware
(3) disabling / reenabling GTX 850M will remove exclamation point until the next reboot, but other issues remain
(4) Intel HD 4600 appears to work fine, systray control center works fine
(5) No telltale 'Battery light turning orange' indicating the GeForce is being used no matter what app is running
I updated BIOS to the current v 107, did an EC reset, no change. All other drivers installed, appear working fine, no other Windows-related issues observed.
I believe the Optimus controls won't actually let you disable the internal Intel card and exclusively run the nvidia, but has anyone else been able to correct this? So, alas, this turned out to not be a complete fix (though EFI seems to have corrected the battery LED being available on the front panel). After a few Windows Updates for 8.1, issue has resurfaced (though not sure yet which update may or may not be the cause as I installed a bunch at the same time). It may actually be that EFI / non-EFI installation may not be the cause and rather may be a particular Windows Update that's the culprit. Same graphics behavior as before.
Since after this install, I had put a bunch of games in, raised the settings fairly high and got 60 FPS consistently, some of which showed 'nVidia GeForce 850M' as the card being used, now the same games will run, but obviously much lower FPS, and show the internal Intel HD card as the one being used. GeForce driver updates post-333.02 still do not install.
Issue with nVidia Optimus with recent Windows Updates maybe?
[EDIT]
GAHHHH! Ultimately, the issue may have been Hyper-V. I happened to come across this http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3491/~/nvidia-geforce-r337.61-beta-hotfix-display-driver-release, so I removed Hyper-V (which I had installed), and upon reboot, GeForce Experience / nvidia control panel picked back up, code 43 went away in device Manager, and a few games tested confirm they are using the 850M again.
The laptop still won't detect updates / install GeForce drivers beyond 333.02, but I can live with that for now :P -
Qosmio X300 (PQX31E) - New display driver from nVidia
Good news!
The Nvidia website has a fully compatible new driver for certain X300 models (those with short model no.-PQX31E,nvidia chipsets i believe).
Its driver 186.81 released about a month ago-so finally we can move on from the woefully outdated driver on Toshiba's site.
The new driver has increased SLI support for more recent games and enables PhysX acceleration from the GPU.
It also seemed to reduce my graphics card temperatures by at least 5c-it seems the fans work harder as i can hear them more.
One word of warning-dont follow the standard install procedure that Nvidia recommends-i.e. let the new driver uninstall your old driver and then automatically install its self.
I did this at first but had some problems with Dawn of war 2 crashing on startup.
So what you should do is the following....
1.Download Drivesweeper from Guru3D website.
2.Uninstall your old graphics driver using add/remove-its also worth uninstalling any PhysX driver as well.
3.Reboot into safe mode and run drivesweeper to remove remnants of the old graphics driver and Physx driver if applicable.
4.Install Nvidia mobile graphics driver 186.81 from Nvidia website and enjoy better performance in your games!!!Al-ex-you misunderstand....a number of qosmio x300 models have hybrid SLI graphics so why that should sound strange to you in this forum is beyond me...
Also the driver i mentioned is more than generic if you read the release notes it states that it supports Qosmio x300 models but only lists 2 american model numbers-further research lead me to conclude that driver 186.81 is fully compatible with x300s that have nvidia not intel chipsets(nothing to do with GPU) and thus have model no. PQX31E-my Qosmio is oficially listed as x300-13w and with the 31E model no.
This driver is not unofficial like Doxs drivers on Laptopvideotogo website and doesn't require any special modification to work....its just that Nvidias uninstaller is inefficient and its a good idea to run drivesweeper before installing 186.81.
I'm enjoying better in game rendering and i can play red faction Guerilla without crashes and the laptop runs cooler...!!!!! -
Many times my computer takes too long to connect to new website. I have wireless internet (time capsule) and I am running a pretty powerful real time financial work program at same time, what is the best solution? Upgrading speed from cable network? is it a hard drive issue? do I only need to "clean out" the computer? Or all of the above...not to computer saavy. It is a Macbook Pro osx 10.6.8 (late 2010).
Almost certainly none of the above! Try each of the following in this order:
Select 'Reset Safari' from the Safari menu.
Close down Safari; move <home>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db to the trash; restart Safari.
Change the DNS servers in your network settings to use the OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Turn off DNS pre-fetching by entering the following command in Terminal and restarting Safari:
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false
