Upgrading GPU on my HPE h8-1227 Desktop (Newbie)
I am looking for a new GPU that is compatible with my unit that I bought from Bestbuy, HP Pavilion HPE h8-1227 Desktop. But I need to know if the GPU will physically fit inside my CPU, and that GPU is compatible with my OS/Mobo.
See link for my exact CPU: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=ca&lc=en&docname=c03363686#N92
I did some reading on this site, see links below, and found some good info. Apparently, not all GPUs are compatible and stock HP CPUs can be picky and not boot after a new GPU installation – usually caused by BIOS problems. Ex: EVGA 750 ti is incompatible link: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/new-graphic-card-EVGA-Geforce-gtx-750-ti-failing-on-HP...
Anyhow, a HP Expert Named Big_Dave found that the MSI N750 ti (link below) seems to work best for the bulk of stock HP CPUs as the MSI N750 ti GPU has a hybrid BIOS capability that can be switched to allow compatibility with legacy and UEFI BIOS PCs.

Link to MSI GAMING N750Ti TF 2GD5/OC G-SYNC
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127783
My specific questions are:
Will the MSI 750 ti physically fit in my unit? (it looks like there might be room, but it would be a tight fit. ...but I can't tell because of wires & I am a newbie and have never swapped a GPU before)Card Dimensions (L x H)9.84" x 5.04"
Will the MSI 750 ti physically work in my P Pavilion HPE h8-1227 Desktop?
……Thank you in advance!!!!
(…below are the specs on my monitor in case it makes any difference…)

EDIT: THis is now a duplicate post, I have reposted in the GPU question thread that I just discovered. Thanks!

Video Card upgrade for HP Pavilion HPE h8-1256s Desktop
I wanted to upgrade my current graphics card which was an NVIDIA GeForce GT 620, the mother board is a H-Joshua-H61-uATX. I recently bought an EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti Superclock. I unistalled the old drivers took out the old card, added the new one and when I started up my PC i would recive 3 beeps and a black screen. I did some research and found out that it may be due to the BIOS. There is no BIOS upgrade I can find and my BIOS vers is AMI 7.11, 4/28/2012. I would appreciate a list or a recommendation of compatable Video cards so I do not have to keep buying and installing these devices or if there is a new BIOS update.
Graphics card (Bought on Amazon): EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti Superclock w/G-SYNC Support 2GB GDDR5 128bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, HDMI, DP 1.2 Graphics Card (02G-P4-3753-KR)Hi,
The EVGA 750 will not work with a version 7 BIOS. Look under Windows 8 for BIOS version 8.19.

If you are running Windows 7 then I haven't seen a post on this forum indicating if the EVGA 750 will work when the BIOS version 8 is set to legacy mode.

How can I add USB 3.0 to my HP Pavilion Elite HPE-190t CTO Desktop PC?
How can I add USB 3.0 to my HP Pavilion Elite HPE-190t CTO Desktop PC? It uses Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS.
I can't tell how many or if there are expansion slots inside the case. Is there a reliable source for such an expansion card?Considering the different options that PC could have been ordered with, it might be there is not an empty slot to mount a PCI add-on card to add a USB 3.0 card. It would be advisable to open the case to see if there is an empty slot. If there is, then THIS is a choice to add USB 3.0

Removing keyboard layout to upgrade GPU
Hi,
I'm using a G575 and noted that there is no way to open the top of the keyboard cover other than some cracks I saw between keyboard and the insides. Just wondering how to go about opening up this portion. Another thing that I want to ask about is, whether or not there is the ability to a) upgrade GPU and b) replenish CPU thermo paste (want to replace it with higher performance).
Regards,
Jim
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi bassbelouder,
Welcome to the Lenovo Community Forums.
Please see Hardware and maintenance manual under page 47. Please exercise caution when accessing components in the laptop. Please follow steps listed under page 33 of the service manual before replacing parts. To replace the keyboard you need to remove the battery and the access panel first. Then after this you will need to remove 3 keyboard screws. After removing the 3 keyboard screws, you can use a plastic pick (prying tool) or your fingernails to lift the keyboard up a little from the edge, then slowly slide the keyboard towards the LCD panel.
With regards to CPU thermo paste you should be able to apply it with a different thermal paste of your choice. However, with the GPU the integrated version does not show any provision for any available slots for the upgrade.
Hope this helps.

HP Pavillion p6-2204a with HP Nvidia GT 630 Upgrade GPU to Asus GTX 750 ti OC Strix
I just checked the specs of the single fan.
They both have the same requirement of recommended PSU Watts and power consumption.
I already sent an email the ebay seller and asked about the Switch(Hybrid and legacy) , Power connector and if the card will run on a 300watt PSU for the power consumtion is very low.
BIOS UPDATE:
Tried to look for a bios update but i cant seem to find one

Everything was going fine with my computer and then one day my audio devices are not detected. Looking around this forum and other parts of the internet it looks like a lot of people are having similar issues with a new installment of the Windows 8.1 update which my computer would have automatically installed.
I think it is a driver issue. The only problem is that I cannot find an updated driver anywhere.
I have considered going back to Windows 7 but it would be even better if I can keep moving forward with Windows 8.1. Does anyone have any advice for my particular computer?I think I have some Windows files that are corrupted. Unfortunately the only DVDROM I cannot find right now is my Windows 8. I think a system refresh would fix me right up but until I find the disk I either have to suffer or consider going back to Windows 7.
I have to say that I do not like how Windows 8.1 has taken over a few other things with my system. Maybe Windows 7 wouldn't be so bad. -

Can I Upgarde My GPU CPU : 5th Gen I7 5500u 2.4ghz tB upto 3.0ghzRam : 8gb Exandable To 16gb (1600mhz)
, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums. The answer to your question is no. The gpu is built into the motherboard. If you want a system where you have a chance to upgrade your video and other components you will want to look into a desktop. Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

Looking to upgrade gpu on my hp pavilion p6130f!!!
Hello, i need help figuring out what gpu will be supported with my mother board. this pc already has some upgrades like 700w psu and 16gb ram. i still have the stock mother board that is M2N78-LA (Violet) that has a PCI Express x16 slot but im not sure if the card im looking at will be supported. the card im looking at is a MSI Computer Corp. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Gaming OC 2GB GDDR5 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card N750TI TF 2GD5/OC
Tanks!!Hello @MattCaron,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how you are looking to upgrade the GPU on your desktop computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
According to the product specifications for the GPU you would like to upgrade to, the PCI connection bus is configured for 3.0; which conflicts with the older PCI Express x16 bus on your computer. If you are looking for a compatible GPU for your system, you will need to ensure it is compatible with PCI Express x16 or PCI Express 2.0 (which is compatible with x16 and 3.0 buses).
I hope this helps!
Best Regards

Upgrade Video Card for HP Pavilion a6228x Desktop PC
I'm wanting to upgrade the video card and was wondering if there were any suggestions as to a good card for under $60. I just need something equivalient to "NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT or ATI Radeon X1950 Pro" or better. I just got Star Wars the Old Republic and my factory istalled graphics card is not powerful enough. I'm a bit confused on what type of graphics card my desktop takes. I did read that it has
PCI Two (One available) PCI Express x16 One (One available) PCI Express x1 One (One available)
Would a PCI Express 2.0 fit in one of these?
One of the cards I am considering is:

Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.Hi,
You might want to google Stars Wars Old Republic system requirements and see what others are suggesting. Game performance is also tied to the game quality settings and monitor resolution that you want to use.
I suggested these upgrades for another user wanting some suggestions.

Is it possible to upgrade GPU on my Satellite L750?
I have a Satellite L750,Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit,Intel Core i3-380M Processor,640 GB in hard disk,4,096 MB DDR3 RAM (1,066 MHz),Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD.
I'm sure by now you know why i want to upgrade my graphic card, everything is good except my graphic card, this is like a nightmare to me because now i can't keep on playing the games i used to,which are so many,so if an expert reads this thread, please help me.
Is there anything I can do?
Any advice or suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.GPU upgrade is not supported and cannot be done. Due to specific design and hardware configuration hardware upgrade is very limited.
Graphic card with more power produce more heat and that is the main problem by mobile machines. Cooling system designed for your notebook is optimized for certain graphic card.

Is it possible to upgrade GPU for I5-4288U HP pavilion 15?
Pretty much as the title says, is it possible to upgrade graphic card on my laptop or is there chance for multiple gpu? I founded out that I have strong enough processor but the graphic card is lacking in performance. Thx for help

Hi! Sorry To Say No You Can Not Upgrade The GPU In A NotebookHowever If You Are Trying To Upgrade The Intel HD Graphics? Then It Can Be Done By Putting A Bigger Processor In There What is this? Saying no then yes? You can't upgrade a laptop with onboard video by upgrade the processor? Consumer Laptop video comes "AS IS" not upgrades that only comes with board swap with a higher graphics chipset if available for that particular model. What info are you getting this from? This line of statement is total confusion to the Poster. Stop making double talk that contradicates itself here. -
This problem just started when I upgraded to Lion OSX 10.7 and it makes no sense. When the new OS was installed, it replaced my Desktop graphic with a blue background starry asteroid like you see in the Lion promos. I went to System prefeences and changed it back to what I had, and it switches just fine, but when I shut down and restart, my graphic is gone, the old asteriod thing is back again. I don't like looking up at my name on the screen where the clock is supposed to be either, but I will get over that since I can't change it. I do want to know if anyone knows how to make your graphic for the Desktop stay the same through shutdown and restart, it is something so basic. I'd appreciate any help, Thank you!
Thanks so much but none of that helped. It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive. I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this. Guess I made my own issue!
