Upgrading graphics card to run Motion2 on PowerMac G4 Quicksilver dual 1ghz

Hi,
I have just upgraded my FCP to Studio Universal 5.1. compressor and Motion won't work with my nVIDIA (0x10de) video card. In reviewing the recommended list of replacements, I am confused as to which one to buy. i am not sure which of the list will work with my G4 and allow me to run the new version of FCP. It's too late to turn back, my original disks were traded in to Apple.
Any ideas on which card to buy and where to find one (USA)?

I have a early 2008 Mac Pro. ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB is what i have now. What is a good upgrade graphic card to get.

The GTX 780 6GB runs fine on the dual PCIe internal power cables -- as does the GTX 680 and Radeon HD 7950. The same can't be said of the GTX TITAN or GTX 780 Ti or Radeon R9 280X -- all of which require an auxiliary power feed to avoid a nasty power down of your tower at the worst moment when too much wattage is demanded of the Mac Pro's factory power supply.
Did I mention that the GTX 780 with 6GB of GDDR5 matches the 6GB of GDDR5 in the TITAN?
The one fallacy to my 'sweet spot' award has to do with OpenCL. In case you hadn't noticed, the AMD Radeon GPUs smoked the NVIDIA GeForce GPUs running Photoshop's OpenCL accelerated Iris Blur filter and rendering LuxMark's OpenCL accelerated Room scene.

So depends on budget, whether you want a PC card for less but no "early EFI boot screen" prior to drivers loading, and what apps and needs you have.
The one thing for sure is that 2600XT should have been retired ages ago and even more so with 10.8.3 and above, it could be trouble or just... PITA/POS.

FCPS2 Upgrade Graphics Card

I am upgrading to FCP Studio 2 and I need to also upgrade my graphics card to run Motion and Color (I think). I currently am running the G5 Dual 2 GHz w/ 3 GB of Ram and for the graphics card it is the original ATI 9600 Pro that came in the box. I have a 23" and 17" acrylic for displays. What is a good, fairly inexpensive card I can upgrade my system with that will run the studio in RT and the displays inputs/ configs? Thanks.

Hi:
Unfortunately in most of today's notebooks (including yours), the graphics cannot be upgraded.
I looked at the service manual for your notebook, and there aren't even any other motherboards with better graphics available.
You can try the latest drivers from AMD to see if that helps, any but you can't do anything with the hardware.

Hi:
Graphics adapters cannot be upgraded simply.
You would need to replace the motherboard with one that would have better graphics (if one exists for your model).
This would cost as much as buying a new notebook, so it is probably not a good idea to undertake such an endeavor.

Upgrading graphic card on HP DC 8300 CMT

Dear HP,
I try to upgrade graphic card, on HP DC 8300 CMT (Intel® Core™ i7-3770 Processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000 )
with Nvidia Asus GeForce GTX 650 Ti.
As stock power supply doesnt meet requirements, I installed an additional FSP Group Booster X5 450W.
Once I turn PC on, it reboots 3 times, and eventually it continues to use onboard graphic and windows 7 loads as usual .
like if new graphic card is not present. (not detected by windows)
Bios version is latest and particular option for disableing integrated graphic is grayed out- not accessible.
Is there any explanation why this happens ?
On DC 8100 sff It automaticaly disabled onboard graphic, altough it was low consumption Radeon HD 7750 Low Profile card, and there was no any problem.

Best graphics card to run Adobe CS4 Design Premium?

I am looking to upgrade the graphics card in my PowerMac G5 to take advantage of Creative Suite 4's new GPU features. I am currently using a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 that is getting choppy in Creative Suite and while using features like Spaces, Expose, Time Machine, etc. I would like to know what I am capable of running on my four year old machine (June 2004), are there limits to what card I can use in that machine? The machine is actually still really fast but it does slow down with features that rely heavily on the graphics card.
Also are there graphics cards that come with both a Mini DisplayPort and a DVI port? I am not sure if I will get a Mini DisplayPort monitor it the future like the new Cinema Displays but I would like to know that I have the option to do so.
It would be nice if it wasn't really loud as well.

There do appear to be cards listed that are questionable. I'm not sure if PCs used AGP cards, if so I don't think they would work.

There is a debate going on about whether Nvidia or ATI cards work better for certain apps. Some say programs like Motion, Final Cut Pro, After Effects run better with ATI cards. The jury is out.
Edit: There should be no driver issues, the mac os has them.

Hey guys, I just acquired a PowerMac G4 and have been steadily upgrading it to get it running as fast it possibly can. With the PowerMac G4 came a Apple Studio Display. What are my options for the graphics card without having to shell out 90 dollars for an adapter? I still got to upgrade my ram to 2 gigs and want to get this done with as soon as possible

As far as I'm aware, the only graphics cards better than the stock cards that will work in a MDD G4 and have an ADC connector are the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro and NVidia GeForce4 Titanium, both of which were available as built to order options from Apple. I think retail versions may have also been available but could well have been DVI rather than ADC. They seem to pop up on eBay occasionally.

I'm interested in upgrading my current graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB to something with more memory.
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out which brand to go with that'll be compatible with my Mac Pro 2009 model and will work well under OSX Mavericks.
I really dont want to break the bank. Need a good amount of GDDR5 ram for Adobe Creative Cloud mostly. Would also like to run some gaming on PC Bootcamp drive under Windows 7 (Titanfall, Crysis, Battlefield, etc). However that's all secondary, thanks for your help.

LOTS of choices, depends if you want ones that will work without fuss (ATI 5770 & 5870 plus Mac edition EVGA 680 and Sapphire 7950) still give you boot screens if you option boot.
If you don't care about boot screens, you can use almost any recent ATI or Nvidia card. If you only boot into OSX, you can live without boot screens.

Have Upgrade Graphic Card Driver, But Still Cannot Adjust Screen Brightness and Sleep Button Not Showing After Clean Installation of Windows 8.1

I have done clean installation of Windows 8.1 on my HP Pavilion G4.
Then I realize that I cannot put my computer on sleep mode and cannot adjust screen brightness.

How about go to Device Manager, then uninstall Graphic driver and restart your computer, system will install its build in graphic drver. You can have a try.
In addition, access to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Brightness and set its value to 100 for test.

Upgrade graphics card(s)?

Would there be a significant advantage to getting a more powerful graphics card? The current configuration is two NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT cards driving three monitors on a Mac Pro dual-core Intel desktop, 16GB RAM, running Photoshop CS4. I don't do 3-D but do process rather large multi-layer documents. I have gotten a message about Ps disabling GPU enhancements. I've seen some discussion of this issue here and there, but wasn't sure if this is so much of a performance hit and whether higher end graphics hardware would be worth the upgrade cost.

Whether you want to spend money to get the OpenGL features is entirely up to you. It's a subjective decision only you can make for yourself.
You may want to browse some of the alreay existing threads on this subject to learn about the limitations, Photoshop's inability to use more than one card for OpenGL features, etc.
