Upgrading Grid

Hi,
We are upgrading one rac database from 10203 to 10204. We are also going to upgrade the OMS database to 10204. My question is, Can we have a 10.2.0.3 version of Grid running on a 10.2.0.4 version of OMS DB?
-Ritesh

would a 10.2.0.3 Grid control be able to monitor/continue to function normally for its target databases which are on 10.2.0.4?From the OMS side it's not a problem, but you need a 10.2.0.4 agent on the target side, see again the matrix.
The rule for RMAN is:
For target database >=10.1.0
RMAN executable >=9.0.1.3 and <= Target database
catalog database >=9.0.1
catalog schema >= RMAN executable
That means in case of a 10.2.0.4 database and you use a RMAN executable 10.2.0.4 too, you have to upgrade the catalog schema to 10.2.0.4,but the catalog database itself may remain on 10.2.0.3.
The easiest solution is you keep the RMAN executable version 10.2.0.3 even for 10.2.0.4 databases,so you don't need to upgrade the schema and can do this later.

  • How to upgrade grid control10gR2 (10.2.0.2) to grid control 10gR4(10.2.0.4)

    Hi
can anybody tell me how can i upgrade my 10gR2(10.2.0.2 for windows) grid control to 10gR4
i have already downloaded the 10gR4 from OTN but whn i try to install it contain only patches so i m confused whelther my grid contol is upgraded or not..
and i m also not able to add siebel enterprise n siebel server in my grid control
    pls help me..

10.2.0.4 is released as a patch.
One way to find out the EM version that you are running is go to the Grid Home Page, which is the page that you get when you onto Enterprise Manager Grid Control, and click the About Oracle Enterprise Manager link at the bottom the page.

  • Upgrading Grid Control 10.2.0.2 - segments are at different releases

    Hi everyone,
Currently, I've got Grid Control running on Solaris (SunOS 5.9). The Repository DB is 10.2.0.2, the Management Service is 10.2.0.3 and the Management Agent is 10.2.0.3 on the host and all the targets (6 of them)
The target DB's vary from 9.2.0.5 to 10.2.0.4, which is where the issue is - 1 targets DB version is higher than the Repository and Management Service which is causing me some issues.
Therefore, I want to upgrade the Repository DB and the Management Service to 10.2.0.4. I've got this readme for the 10.2.0.4 Grid Control install/upgrade:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/gridr4_10204_readme_solaris.html
But I don't know whether I need to upgrade the DB first or after the Management Service??
If things run logically, I would upgrade the DB to 10.2.0.4 either manually or using DBCA and then upgrade the Management Service (using "Use existing DB" option following the steps in the doc above) - does this sound ok??
Has anyone else done this?? Would I also have to upgrade the Agents on the targets too??
    Thanks,
    Ric.

    Ric,
The OMS patch will take care of the Grid Control Repository Schema so no worries there. The steps in the document should get you there, since your database is not 10.2.0.3 there is a database upgrade required to apply the 10.2.0.4 Grid Control you will need to patch the database to 10.2.0.3 before you proceed with the 10.2.0.4 grid control. Not sure if I made that very clear in my last post
As for the AGENT the agent is in a different home and therefore the patch will have to be applied separately. So yes to patch applications 1 for the OMS and 1 for the Agent. Then a patch for the agents on all machines where the agent is located.

  • Upgrading GRID Oracle Home

I have just finished upgrading my GRID respository and agent to 10.2.0.3. However, my Oracle Home was not upgraded and still shows a version of 10.1.0.4. Do I need to do a separate DB upgrade in order to upgrade my Oracle Home?
    Ta

Yes, you need to do a database upgrade from 10.1.0.4 to 10.2.0.3.

  • LR 3.3 Upgrade - Grid/Loupe icons missing

I have just installed the 3.3 upgrade and rebooted my computer. (Win 7 64 bit).
When I start LR 3.3 the (very useful to me) Grid/Loupe icons that were located just below the images display are no longer there in Library mode. How do I get them back?
    Thanks, Alan

Try pressing "T". (Show/hide toolbar - also View menu and show or hide the toolbar).  If you've got the toolbar, but bits are missing, click the down arrow head, far right of the toolbar, and you can check or uncheck what you want to see in the toolbar.

  • Upgrade GRID 11202 to 11203, lost wizard before running rootupgrade.sh

    Hi
I was in the process of upgrade from 11202 to 11203. However when I was at final stage right before running rootupgrade.sh I lost VPN connection with office and so lost the installation wizard. I hate such stuff but I was bit overconfident.. paying for it..
well, do you know what are the steps I am missing beside running rootupgrade.sh? and
Can I run those post steps and say upgrade completed?
or I need to deinstall 11203 without running rootupgrade.sh and then redo whole thing?
any information / direction highly appreciated..
    Thanks,
    Krishna.

That is what I thought but looking for some direction... thanks for looking this threadTo answer your question - do what was recommended - blow it away and start over. There are way to many xxCA tools that run that not even Oracle can give you an exact answer on what needs to be executed. (I have asked - several times - exactly what does it do with less than satisfactory results)
What OS? I would HIGHLY recommend that you install VNCServer(server-side)/VNCViewer(desktop) on what ever platform you are using and launch any and all install/long-running apps/queries etc... from that console. http://www.realvnc.com/download/vnc/
This will keep the actual install running on a "console" and not a remote X11 display. That way, if you have remote access, it does not take forever to repaint the screen and you can disconnect the "console" and reconnect later (start the install - go home - reconnect - finish uninterrupted). This has saved a LOT of pain and suffering from unstable connections and those windows weenies that are constantly pushing the patch-of-the-day-that-requires-immediate-and-unstoppable-install/reboot to the user community. VNC is usually standard on Linux. Works GREAT!!! (IMHO).

  • Not able to generate DDL on new install of OEM Grid Control 10.2.0.5

I upgraded grid control to 10.2.0.5 and can not get it to generate DDL.
I click generate ddl and get the basic message 'Generate DDL has been submitted successfully. It could take a while to complete if the baseline version contains a large number of objects.'
And it says that it is being generated in the DDL column but if you either let it sit there or click the refresh button, it will say Not Generated.
Has anyone come across this and found a solution?
    This is on windows.

Try this on your versionof 10.2.0.5:
On the Dictionary Baseline Objects page,
    1. Select all the objects in Non-Schema Object Types
    2. Select objects types and the schemas to include
    3. Select all the objects in Object Types
    4. Add your schemas
    This will succesfullly run.
Now click on the Generated DDL and it will initially say 'Being Generated' in the DDL column.
Either let it sit there or click the Refresh button and the status in the DDL column is now 'Not Generated'.

  • Cluster Upgrade..

    Hi Experts..
I have 11.1 Cluster with 10.2 Db with out ASM,
My Plan is I want to upgrade the cluster to 11.2 and Convert DB to ASM. so the plan would be below
    1.Upgrade 11.1 to 11.2 Grid (Rolling)
    2.Upgrade DB to 11.2
3.Make sure db is good after Upgrade and check application is fine
4.Configure Devices For ASM and create ASM instance and DIskgroup using ASMCA
5.Convert Existing Db from CFS to ASM
    So My question here is,
Can we Configure ASM after we upgraded Grid without ASM Option, using ASMCA?
Can we move Cluster Configration Files to ASM after we upgraded?

    Hi,
I think yes, you must create a ASM disk group with redundancy 5 way for OCR and VOTE Disk, and you can move to OCR and VOTE into ASM Disk group.
    Check : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/rac.112/e16794/votocr.htm

  • Grid Control installation for 11G: is 10g grid required ?

    Dear All,
We are currently using the local dbconsole for the monitoring and doing administrative work on our 11g database. My limited experience and observation indicates that 11G does not have its own enterprise Grid control yet and it requires the older 10G grid control ? So if we deploy (albeit successfully 10G grid control), does the enterprise manager control tabs will be very different than the current dbconsole in 11G ?
    Thanks.

Thanks.Upgrade Grid Control to 10.2.0.5. Grid Control is an independent product and will not follow the same numbering as Database and App Server/Fusion.
It will provide a lot of extra pages and tabs anyway. And it will format and present the information for Oracle 11g properly to work in it's pages.
    Try it and see.

I've tested switchover in a data guard environment using Data Guard Broker in Grid Control.
However, at times, i receive the message "RemoteOperationException: failed to establish input streaming thread". It looks like it has problems connecting to the remote node using the host credentials supplied. I know the credentials are ok because this worked before. If i test preferred credentials, it's ok too..
The workaround has been to restart the database and this seems to work.
    Has anyone experienced this?

  • Upgrade 11.2 to 11.2.0.2 out of place

    Hi
Im trying to upgrade from 11.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.2 is the following bug fix needed ? Im not doing the in place upgrade.. Im doing out of place upgrade?
    – Patch the release 11.2.0.1 Oracle Grid Infrastructure home with the 9413827 and 9706490 patches."
Bug 10036834 Linux Platforms: Patches not found upgrading Grid Infrastructure from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2

    Hi,
    To clarify:
To upgrade existing 11.2.0.1 Oracle Grid Infrastructure installations to Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.2, you must first do at least one of the following:
        *      Patch the release 11.2.0.1 Oracle Grid Infrastructure home with the 9413827 and 9706490 patches.
        *      Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 1 (GI PSU1) or Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 2 (GI PSU2).
Oracle Clusterware and Oracle ASM upgrades are always out-of-place upgrades. With 11g release 2 (11.2), you cannot perform an in-place upgrade of Oracle Clusterware and Oracle ASM to existing homes.source: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e17212/procstop.htm#BABEIBEE
    Hope this helps.

  • How to deinstall OMS10g binaries after OMS11g upgrade

    I've upgraded Grid Control from 10.2.0.5 -> 11.1.0 on our RHEL5 server.
I now want to deinstall OMS10g, but when I run the installer, I don't see an OMS10g home in the list of homes available (I only see my 11g database, and OMS11g homes).
The 10.2 Grid Control docs say I can run the $ORACLE_HOME/install/deinstall/Deinstall.pl command, but it indicates it will deinstall the database as well, so that isn't an option.
If I must do this manually, I presume I can remove the OMS10g home and subdirectories, and any linux startup scripts.
Can someone explain what step(s) need to be done to cleanly remove it from the Oracle Inventory?
If there is some other preferred way to deinstall, please also advise.

Well, no,... I'm not going to remove my Oracle db home...
Yes, I could rm -rf my OMS10g home, but how do I remove the Oracle Inventory entries cleanly? Is there a doc somewhere which outlines this?,... or don't I need to be concerned about the Oracle Inventory?
