Upgrading Hyperion 11.1.2.2 to 11.1.2.3

Hi All,
we are using Hyperion 11.1.2.2(64 bit), ODI 11.1.1.6 with SQL Server 2008 R2.
Now we are planning to apply maintainence release to upgrade 11.1.2.2 to 11.1.2.3 version.
(we are going to use ERP Integrator in 11.1.2.3 version)
But, in this process i have some clarity regarding below:
We have ODI 11.1.1.6 version now with Hyperion 11.1.2.2.
If we upgrade 11.1.2.3 version, EPM will install ODI also(if we select FDMEE). which version we will get? Can we use ODI 11.1.1.6 with new 11.1.2.3 version?

I think you can upgrade ODI 11.1.1.6 to ODI 11.1.1.7 using Patch Set Assistant(psa.bat) which comes with ODI.

You can have fresh repositories for ODI 11.1.1.7 along with FDMEE (fresh environment of EPM 11.1.2.3)& later should be able to import-export the Projects, Models, Topology, etc. or simply import-export the Master & Work repositories from the ODI upgraded to 11.1.1.7 above.

I am triyng to upgrade Hyperion classic applications from 11.1.2.1 and 11.1.2.2 to 11.1.2.3. I restored application's databases which has SQL database and upgraded applications successfully. But the other applications that have Oracle databases, I can restore and upgrade the applications, but when I try to refresh database, it gives errors like that:
com.hyperion.planning.olap.HspVerifyOutlineException: Verify Outline failed with the following errors:
Error [100000800] detected in member "2012 Bakım": Shared member with no actual member
And it is only giving these errors for members which have Turkish characters. And it gives like as this error for member formulas which have Turkish characters:
Error compiling formula for [] (line 1): unknown member name ["Sözleşme Türü Belirle"] in function [operator @X]
This application is working in 11.1.2.1, but after I migrated it ot 11.1.2.3, it started to give these problems. I controlled my oracle database parameters and they look OK, I am sending them too:
NLS_LANGUAGE                   AMERICAN
NLS_TERRITORY                  AMERICA
NLS_CHARACTERSET               AL32UTF8
NLS_SORT                       BINARY
How can I solve this problem ?

Hi Santy,
Thanks for your suggestion. We updated Turkish characters in DB then it's solved. When we create a shared member which has Turkish characters from zero, it gives no error while the refresh. And if we delete all shared members and create them again, it gives no error again. I think the problem is about upgrading.

Upgrading Hyperion 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1 in the Existing Server.

I am in need of your valuable suggestions. We are in process of upgrading Hyperion 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1 in the existing server. I have got only 2 environments namely Dev & Prod. So I have to do everything in one server only to upgrade to ensure its working. Currently we have got Shared Services, HFM (EPM application not Classic), Workspace,Hyperion Performance Management Architect,FR & Web Analysis & FDM in 9.3.1 version.I know first i need to upgrade from 9.3.1 to 9.3.3 and then to 11.1.2.1.My question is that after successful upgrade to 9.3.3 how i am going to upgrade to 11.1.2.1 in the same server. i was informed by oracle to create a new Drive in the server and there you can install & configure it. I have few questions
* How the shared services will be upgraded. Do i need to point it to the existing (9.3.3) database.If Yes, will it work as i can't roll back.
*I read that in 11.1.2.1 there is a Utility HSSMIGRATE.BAT which we are supposed to run and it will create a ZIP which need to point during the 11.1.2.1
configuration. I am not sure whether its going to work or not.
* Have also read if there is Performance Management Architect then there are certain activities which need to be carried out.
* What Back should i take?
* How to upgrade HFM from 9.3.1 to 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1
* Read that FDM need to be deleted if you want to upgrade it to 9.3.3 from 9.3.1 and then again reinstall it for 11.1.2.1.Please suggest how to go about it.
Please suggest if there can be any other approach also.Can any one tell for shared services can it be possible that i export the security through CSSEXPORTUTILITY in 9.3.3. Shared Services and then Import it back in 11.1.2.1.Would request you to provide me as much information as you can.

1.After installation of 11.1.2.1,you will have to run configuration utility and point to existing database which will upgrade HSS.The hssmigrate utility will provide a zip file which should be used as well.The configuration utility will have option to "import data from earlier release"

I would suggest you to apply the latest patch 6.5.1.1.103, and I would strongly recommend you to upgrade to HFM.

Upgrade Hyperion system components from 9.2.0.2 to 11.1.1.3

can anyone please provide upgrade approach from 9.2.0.2 to 11.1.1.3 and also can anyone please tell me whether we can move applications across 32 bit and 64 bit platforms directly.
i mean can we copy a 32 bit server planning application to 64 bit planning application.(provided database can be on 32 or 64 bit binaries)
to upgrade hyperion to 11.1.1.3 can we apply a service pack of 9.2.0.3 and go for an upgrade of 11.1.1.3 is this a correct approach.if this is correct can anyone please say how we can apply a service pack is just the installtion file we have to run for each product?

But from oracle recemmonded upgrade paths 9.2.0.2 is not a supported version, so can i do a fresh install of 11.1.1.3 and migrate the applications from 9.2.0.2
will the applications still work if we migrate in the above meniotned approach?
please give me your sugesstions on moving applications across 32 and 64 bit platforms. can we copy a 32 bit server to a 64 bit server planning application.

Upgrade Hyperion Essbase 7.1.3 to 9.3.1.2
1. (BSO/ASO/attributes, security, report scripts, partitions)
2. (load rules, calcs, security) (ASO and IRB extracts, Reports, Batches - custom or new in Reports, custom web forms)
3) (EIS testing)
Migrate all above essbase applications from Prd to Dev boxes, including:
l Outline,
l Calc scripts,
l Reports scripts,
l Load rules,
l Subsitution variables,
l Partitions,
l Related shell/Maxl scripts,
l Data
l Sample user security
l Filter.
In addition, for Collect, we also need migrate all objects EIS related, including OLAP model, metadata outline, drill-through setting and others.

First you should make sure that you run the most recent version of Leopard, or even consider to upgrade to Snow Leopard. Then just Install Logic 9 either over Logic 7 or from scratch, both works well. You should not install LP 8 first.

It has been covered on here, you migrate the planning applications relational database, create a blank application on 11.1.2.1, stop planning, copy the relational db from 9.3 over the top of the blank 11.1.2.1 (if it is Oracle you may need to drop the schema/recreate then import). start up planning, upgrade planning application by logging in.
Those were the high level steps, it has been covered on here lots of times.

Issues with upgrading Hyperion HFM from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1

After the recent release of Hyperion 11.1.2.1, we upgraded our development environment to 11.1.2.1 from 11.1.2.
Installation and configuration was smooth straight forward [ We used the Maintenance upgrade while installing 11.1.2.1 ].
We migrated the application created from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1 using copy App. We saw following issues.
1. We are unable to run consolidation and we get following Error: “An unknown error has occurred in the HsvData2 object”
2. Every time when we login to HFM workspace and run reports we see database authentication window, we have to enter admin credentials for first time.
3. We are unable to load a Rule File in 11.1.2.1, which was loaded successfully in 11.1.2.
Any details on the above issues or on the upgrade from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1 would be of great help.

Consolidation
When running a consolidation, the following error may occur: “An unknown error has occurred in the HsvData2 object” with a description of: “Value violated the integrity constraints for a column or table” and the following problem: “Cannot insert duplicate key in object”. To resolve this error, delete invalid records.
I didn't look at the other issues; however, once again, I think the answers are most likely contained in the readmes.

Hello ,
Do we have a direct upgrade path from hyperion 7.x to 11.x. for e.g (for essbase) can we install 11.x on seprate server and migrate each application using EAS.( for hyperion Reports ) exporting the reports from old 7.x environment and importing the reports in 11.x environment.

Hi,
Just one thing though...If you apply the Planning 9.3.1.11 patch, dont forget to patch the AAS console on each client machine too or you will have problems executing HBRs from client machines.
In the AAS console if you go to help - about, the AAS and HBR version on client machine must be the same as on the server.
The documentation is not very clear.
Likewise if you apply BI+ 9.3.1.2 (Financial Reporting), after you ve applied the patch on the server, you will need to copy the BIPlus/lib/HReports.jar file from the server and paste in the same folder on every machine where the FR Studio is installed.

we are having EPM suite 11.1.1.1.Client wants upgrade to 11.1.1.3. While doing this what are the steps to fallow the process. Do we need to take backup of all applicatiions?
I know one of the mehtod "Apply Maintenance Release option in EPM System Installer". Is this method suits?

Hyperion Planning upgrade issue : Upgrade planning 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3

I am getting the below given erro while upgrading hyperion planning from 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3
I have done the following steps in sequence to achive the upgrade:
1. Created a planning application "plantest" on 9.3.1 , created hireachy and "create Database" from planning to make the essbase outile.
2. took the backup of planning db repository from 9.3.1 using expdp in a dumpfile.
3. migrated the essbase from 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3
4. logged on to 11.1.1.3 AppWizard to create the similar planning application with the same name "plantest".
5. made a note of HSP_USER 50001 sid on 11.1.1.3
6. stopped the planning on 11.1.1.3
7. imported the 9.3.1 dump on 11.1.1.3 using the following command :impdp system/password DIRECTORY=TEST_DIR DUMPFILE=PLANNING_FINAL.DMP TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE
8. started the planning on 11.1.1.3
9.When I am trying to login to the planning application on 11.1.1.3 - I am getting the following error:
- Application plantest is invalid.
I tried loging agian on the same page, this time it gave me a tab "Migrate" instead of usual "logon" and when I tried loging in, it gave the below error:
- An error occurred while processing this page. Check the log for details
Please let me know if i am doing anything wrong? - which log should I go and check?

Yes, on clicking the migrate button i get the error.

Hyperion upgradation

i want to upgrade hyperion from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.3 . what i done is apply maintenance release in the epm installer it upgrade to 11.1.2.3 but my hyperion get unconfigured . is there any other way to do it . i want to upgrade on the same server (not making new server and installing new hyperion).

That is not really correct it does not really remove anything it just drops files required for 11.1.2.3, maintenance releases are messy because they leave behind so much that is no longer required.

Oracle10g to 11g Upgrade with Hyperion

Hi'
Our client is using EPM 11.1.1.3 with Oracle 10G as Database server.It has EPMA architecture.
As Oracle 10G support is getting stopped,they need to upgrade their database from 10 G to 11 G.
Can you please advice if there is any documentation or procedure we will need to follow for Hyperion Applications pertaining to this upgrade?
What will be the impact on Hyperion.

Could you please tell me, u want to update Oracle 10g to 11g? (which u have used for hyperion configuration)
U want to upgrade Hyperion version also or u want upgrade only database for the same Hyperion version?
first check the support matrix of particular version is supports to that database or not.
Then take back up of everything, reconfigure the EPM Products again.(must take backup of every thing)
Follow the John suggested document "How To Change Shared Services Database Repository in EPM 11 [ID 976279.1]"

Not able to open web analysis reports after upgradation

we have upgraded Hyperion 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 version, after this process we are not able to open web analysis reports
These reports are still pointing to old servers so, how to edit this database connection details in the new version??

I think we need to change the database connection details in the Web analysis.
goto file --> Edit --> browse the database connection then change the server name in the connection details.
may be this will help to resolve your issue.
