Upgrading iLife from 04 to 08 and want Templates from the older versions

I am upgrading Ilife 04 to 08. I want to make sure that I first keep all of the templates from the previous versions including the ones between 04 and 08. Are all old templates included with 08? If not how can I get them? i only have a disc copy of 04 and 08. 03 and older were already on my system.

The old iDVD templates are included as an option in the iLife '08 install. After you accept the EULA at the beginning of the installation, choose to Customise your install. Tick the box for the earlier themes under the iDVD dropdown.

If you have access to your old laptop (and it's still working), ideally, you should transfer your complete iTunes library from your old PC to your new PC. If you can and want to do it that way, please post back.
Otherwise, iTunes syncing is generally in one direction, from iTunes library to iPod. You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links. (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library.

First, back up your old iphone manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your old phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.

After that, connect your new phone and let iTunes set it up. iTunes will detect the old 3G backup and ask you, if you want to use it to restore the info on your new iphone. If you agree, all settings and data will be present after the process is finished.

It depends on the iLife (iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand) and iWork (Pages, Numbers and Keynote) versions you have.
If you have got iLife '11 and iWork '09, you will be able to update the applications for free, but if you have got an older version, you will have to pay for them in the App Store

You can have 2 versions installed aside of each other. Bot programs have their own folders. The files from CS4 can be read by the CC version. The other way around does not work for most file types. For example InDesign. To save for an older version is documented for most programs.
After CC trial / subscription removal the CS4 will stay on the system and works without issue.

I have tried to update Firefox for my Mac (OS 10.6.4 and 10.6.6) and it keeps asking do I want to remove the older version; when I say "yes" it tells me I do not have permissions even though I am the Admin.

I have tried changing the permissions for my hard drive/Account and all files below it but this prevented my Mac from starting; hence, I keep reinstalling the OSX (this is why I am currently on 10.6.4 instead of 10.6.6).
Additionally, even though I keep uninstalling Firefox (throw away the icon and get rid of "org....plist" (except in one user account in which I am not allowed to trash)) the icon always appears in my Dock when I startup (it is a icon with a slashed circle on top of it).

Try doing a clean install.

Doing the above will not remove your user data, that is stored elsewhere in the [[profiles|profile folder]], though if you wish you can back that up first

I try to drag the new icon to my applications folder, as instructed. When I'm asked if I want to replace the older version, I say yes, but I get an error message saying that it can't because FireFox is open. But it isn't! help. Mac OS 10 system. Jerry

Hi, my computer's too old to download 3.6.24 and it says that the older version will stop being supported soon, so how can I continue to use Firefox, I can't afford a new computer? It crashes a lot too, I've been told that's because it's old too.

There are some recovery programs out there if you google them - many with free trials. I haven't tried them so I have no opinion.Read any professional tech and user reviews you can find before you try one. I have read here in the past that some have worked for people who have posted here.
To help in the future, have you considered using Jump Desktop - Remote Desktop? I know it won't solve the problem you're dealing with now (unless notes were taken on your computer.) It's in the app store. It's the #1 paid app in the business category and the reviews are great. It allows you to see anything that's on your computer on your ipad. If you take your notes on your ipad then you might want to email them to yourself, put them on Word in your computer, for example, and then if you need them in class, you remotely connect your ipad to your computer and you will see your notes. This way you won't have to rely so much on the cloud. The explanation would be too long here, but you might want to take a look at it. You can use the free trial on jumpdesk.com and then if it works for you, buy it in the app store.

For you it requires an upgrade of OS X. Since you have 10.6.8 installed you can upgrade directly to Yosemite for free provided your hardware meets the requirements:
